I can't believe that it has taken me this long to write a review for Breakfast House. I have come to this place so many times and have also ordered takeout also so many times that I don't think I can count them anymore. Anytime a friend comes in from out of town and wants a good breakfast, I pretty much always bring them here. My favorite, and what I always go for, is the chorizo breakfast hash--with pancakes topped with strawberries & whipped cream. My friend tried the French toast with Nutella and it was absolutely amazing! Make sure the whipped cream is there. It's so good. Service is on point as well, but nothing entirely special. I would say that I don't even need good service here. They can just throw the food at me and I will still enjoy it. Lol! read more

Came here with my partner for a simple breakfast, food was amazingly delicious like omg I ordered the Dieguito Benedict and I was like ga damn that's alot larger than in the photos and the potatoes were delicious too. Seating could've been better. They had a back room but the ambiance wasn't the same, I would've preferred to sit in the main room. Love this place!!! Came on a weekday for breakfast with a party of 4 and were seated right away. Ordered the egg white frittata and pancakes and they were delicious. They also have good coffee. And our server was awesome! Made us feel very welcome and cared for. Street parking was also pretty easy and free and it's pretty close to the CTA station. Ambience is casual. read more

The ONLY thing I would say is if you go when it's pretty busy, being that it's not a big establishment, it can get pretty noisy/ loud as far as the other conversations around you goes. I ordered the Chef's Special French Toast, described as Oven-baked french toast with fresh blueberries, strawberries and dulce de leche or Nutella sauce, and whipped cream. I was so disappointed. It was just French toast with fruit. From the description I expected a casserole-like baked French toast with the fruit baked in. My husband asks why we never go to brunch and I had to break the bad news to him. Most brunch places stop serving around 2 - the time he's usually up and functioning on weekends. Not one to let his sleeping habits interfere with my brunching desires, I met a friend here. This location is BYOB, so we ordered a carafe of OJ. Our server got us a bucket of ice, which was much appreciated on a very hot day. I forgot what my friend ordered (I want to say a benedict, definitely something savory) and I got the crepes & breakfast potatoes with cheese. The breakfast menu items definitely feel more slanted toward the savory. The crepes (I went with the Nutella option), were not what I expected. They weren't the thin French pancake rolled like a cigar, but a similar batter of silver dollar sized pancakes folded like a taco. They were good, but I prefer traditional crepes. Regardless, I would've liked more fruit in them. We sat outside, so I can't speak to the vibe inside, but if you can get a table on the side street it's quieter and has some shade. I was a little disappointed the tables weren't covered with table cloth as their original pictures showed but I think that's a minor inconvenience for what is an excellent establishment. When we checked in, the hostess was helpful, as she navigated waiting patrons. We grabbed stools at the counter for our meal and our server was smiling and attentive, although she was quite busy. I had a veggie omelet with potatoes and loved it. My friend tried another type of omelet and said it was delicious. Both plates were filled with a hearty size breakfast, that was both tasty and a great value. Our coffee was fresh and tasted great. I saw they offered other beverages that I will try next time. I want to try their lunch items too. Everything is fresh and piping hot. That busy kitchen has people that really know what they are doing!
