As soon as my friends saw there was a spot that did alcoholic shave ice they wanted to try it. The original plan was to go to Down the Hatch and Breakwall Suave Ice but there was a HUGE line for Down the Hatch. This almost completely deterred us from both, but after peering downstairs we realized Breakwall barely had a line and we went down the second set of stairs to snag a spot in line for shave ice. Another downside of the location that we learned really quickly is that they're right next to the bathroom, so the foot traffic cuts through while you're in line and waiting on your shave ice. Definitely don't zone out or take too many pictures, you're going to be in the way. Back to the food though, they have regular shave ice, alcoholic adult shave ice, açaí bowls, smoothies and shakes, cold brew and even dole whip and giant pretzels. While they don't have as many flavors to choose from as other places, the ones they have a tasty and they give a great amount of syrup so you don't have plain ice spots. My friends ordered the strawberry guava daiquiri and we ordered the Mojito float and both were good. I thought the addition is soft serve in the bottom of ours elevated it and you definitely could tell they were cocktail flavors and not just regular shave ice. If I came back I would take advantage of Happy Hour from 2-5 where the adult shave ice is just $6.

Right beside our fav spot down the hatch.You get a discount too if you dine there. We went there during the happy hour and got a shave ice for 6$. It was absolutely delicious.The coconut icecream was divine. Must try if you are in the lahaina area.

Breakwall shave ice has lots of choices to choose from the menu. The ice was well shaved and very light. We tried Mango Margarita adult shave ice offered here, pineapple dole whip & rainbow shave ice which was good. Even though the line was long, the wait didn't disappoint us. Kudos to the staff, they are efficient and friendly! If you're in the area check this place out. You'll love it.

The peanut buttah looks good, but would prefer more fruit on it. Maybe I could get the Brazilino and add some PB. I ordered a Brazilino with added PB, blueberries and pineapple too. The pineapples are canned and not so good. The PB is a big clump and not so good. The pineapple and vanilla dole whip was good for the boys. The açaí bowl is blah.

My friends and I had our first round of shaved ice here and it was a great introduction! The young guy behind the counter was kind and knowledgeable--he answered our questions and made helpful suggestions on flavors and toppings. The spot was in the center of a plaza of other restaurants and shops--had a busy feel, but it was nice. The shop itself wasn't busy that night, so we were served pretty fast. My wife had a mix of Guava-Strawberry, Piña Colada and Coconut with a "Creamy Snowcap." I had a mix of Guava-Strawberry, Mango, and Wild Cherry. It was refreshing and delicious--a little icier than what we would have in the coming days. But still good!!

Since I dined at Down The Hatch, I decided to get my 15% discount for some shaved ice at Breakwall. I ordered a small Rainbow shaved ice ($6) with Snow Cap (+50cents). There aren't too many flavor options and the unique ones cost an extra dollar because they're natural, so passed on that. The shaved ice itself was good and flavors were sweet. This was a refreshing treat after your meal though. I'd highly recommend adding the snow cap because they use a thick condensed milk drizzle over it that was so tasty.

Side Note: I would have given this place a 5 star rating had it not been for the guy who took 35 minutes to make a handful of shave ice. There were only two people in front of me but it took over half and hour and they only had 2 and 2 orders. Then, he made mine with the incorrect flavors and remade it incorrectly again. I was so over the situation I ate my shave ice with the incorrect flavors. They need a second person to help if the person working is new and or that slow. The other people around me were like, what is going on?! Some people left the line it was ridiculous. Aside from all of that the shave ice itself was pretty good. Flavors were better than Ululani's. I only mention that place because everyone seems to compare everything to Ululani's. Their Watermelon flavor was the best watermelon flavor I have ever had. It's not pictured in my review because I forgot to take a photo. Seating: there is no seating inside but there are benches around the place to sit and eat your shave ice. If you eat at Down the Hatch there's a small discount but we didn't know as we had Shave Ice before lunch because why not lol.

The adult shaved ice was fun to try. We got a strawberry guava daiquiri and a mudslide shaved ice. All the flavors of the strawberry guava were from real fruit juice and fruit purees. The mudslide had everything in a traditional mudslide plus a generous portion ice cream. The mudslide was rich and chocolately. The ice itself was pretty standard flaked shaved ice for those who care. Not amazing, but not bad. FYI, theres not enough booze for you to get drunk off the shaved ice, but you might get a little buzz. Guys working the stand were great with no fuss.

I couldn't wait to try the Dole Whip. This place gave me the option to mix it with vanilla ice cream. Yes please! It's basically soft serve pineapple ice. The large was huge and I ate every drop. I finished it before my meal came. Sometimes, I like to eat dessert first. Now, I can check Dole Whip off my bucket list and I didn't have to go to Disney.

Revised review: I've revised this review From 1 star to 3 stars because this business was extremely quick to respond to my previous negative review with an apology. This leaves me to think my experience here was probably not the norm, and the other reviews are good...but a simple, "hi, let us know when you're ready" or "we'll be with you shortly", or a similar acknowledgement of my presence would have been awesome. Original review: 9am, 9/16/2017 NO CUSTOMER SERVICE For 5 minutes (I timed it) I stood in front of two employees who were both helping one customer. Then a 3rd employee showed up and the employees were instead focused on talking to each other. All this time, none of them said hi or even acknowledged that I (a customer) was waiting to order something. I decided to leave after 5 minutes and to never visit this place again and to never recommend this place to anyone I know. I don't know if their shave ice is any good but I do know they should at least learn to acknowledge the presence of a customer. read more

love, Love, LOVE this place...! We were in Lahaina for a wedding with a lot of friends and family from the mainland. Breakwall's seating in the Wharf Courtyard was a great general place for the fam & everyone to gather, and the Shave Ice... WOW. We had a large Mudslide 'adult' and it was fantastic! So big the hubs and I shared. Several others tried different varieties and passed around our combined table for tastes. It was good, but not great. They really pack the ice quite firmly making it a bit more challenging to eat. Syrup and snow cap was overflowing which means I was left with hella sticky fingers...not my favorite. read more

Got my order wrong 2 times. They laughed at me when I asked about the free token I got from down the hatch for my 6 year old. The woman making my shaved ice kept picking at her nose with gloves on as she was packing the shaved ice. I threw the flavored ice away after I waited 5 mins and saw that. I won't go back to this shave ice booth. We wet across the street to the ice cream shop and they were amazing!!! read more

Best shave ice ever! We tried this shave ice and it was light and creamy and absolutely delicious! A friend who used to live in Maui recommended this spot as the best shave ice in Maui. It lived up to its reputation. You must get the ice cream surprise at the bottom. We got dragon fruit and passion fruit "natural" flavor with coconut ice cream. ***Note to owner - my parents stopped by in the evening and the server said it closes at 4pm. This Yelp listing says it closes at 2am (and the guy who helped us said it closes at 3am). Please either update your listing, or educate the staff at the restaurant. This place is connected to Down the Hatch and we got a coupon to try it out. It is like Ululani's but this place gives you more. The shaved ice is the same quality...smooth and soft but they pile it on high. We also got ice cream and the snow cap. They also have adult shaved ice flavors. read more

Perfect experience for the family. Maya took great care of us and helped us get the best flavors for not only the kids, but mine and my wife's "adult" shave ice. Great rum and syrup combos make some killer shave ice. She even came out after to check in on us to ensure that we enjoyed our ice and if there was anything we had second thoughts about. Fantastic adult shave ice! A nice generous 1 shot for small and about 2 shot for large, of freezer kept booze to whatever flavor you are having, tried the mojito (comes with 1scoop ice cream) and also the Mango margarita!has just enough to taste it and warm you a little. Haven't heard of anyone else doing this elsewhere so do it just to say you tried it and quite possibly the only adult shave ice on island! read more

I liked this shaved ice the best because it had a courser consistency vs other places were a little fine like snow. Splurge while you are there and add some ice cream. A very tasty shaved ice! I grabbed the strawberry guava daiquiri one during happy hour, replaced the rum for vodka and it still came out really well. Super fluffy, a large amount with a "just-right" portion of syrup. The small was a good individual serving size. Heads up though: Due to open container laws, the adult shaved ices have to be eaten in-house, meaning in the patio area or at the counter. Make sure to give yourself some time to sit if you'd like to try one. read more

A reservation system or some kind of other solution would keep people both well fed and safer. Neighboring businesses said the hack is to arrive at 10 when the initial rush has died down. We waited two hours and they were good but I wouldn't do that to myself again.

Stopped into Breakwall for dessert after some apps at Down The Hatch. Someone recommended their strawberry and passion fruit combo w/ ice cream at the bottom which was fantastic! The guy in front of me ordered a Mudslide (boozy) which looked over the top as well.
