As soon as my friends saw there was a spot that did alcoholic shave ice they wanted to try it. The original plan was to go to Down the Hatch and Breakwall Suave Ice but there was a HUGE line for Down the Hatch. This almost completely deterred us from both, but after peering downstairs we realized Breakwall barely had a line and we went down the second set of stairs to snag a spot in line for shave ice. Another downside of the location that we learned really quickly is that they're right next to the bathroom, so the foot traffic cuts through while you're in line and waiting on your shave ice. Definitely don't zone out or take too many pictures, you're going to be in the way. Back to the food though, they have regular shave ice, alcoholic adult shave ice, açaí bowls, smoothies and shakes, cold brew and even dole whip and giant pretzels. While they don't have as many flavors to choose from as other places, the ones they have a tasty and they give a great amount of syrup so you don't have plain ice spots. My friends ordered the strawberry guava daiquiri and we ordered the Mojito float and both were good. I thought the addition is soft serve in the bottom of ours elevated it and you definitely could tell they were cocktail flavors and not just regular shave ice. If I came back I would take advantage of Happy Hour from 2-5 where the adult shave ice is just $6.

Right beside our fav spot down the hatch.You get a discount too if you dine there. We went there during the happy hour and got a shave ice for 6$. It was absolutely delicious.The coconut icecream was divine. Must try if you are in the lahaina area.

Breakwall shave ice has lots of choices to choose from the menu. The ice was well shaved and very light. We tried Mango Margarita adult shave ice offered here, pineapple dole whip & rainbow shave ice which was good. Even though the line was long, the wait didn't disappoint us. Kudos to the staff, they are efficient and friendly! If you're in the area check this place out. You'll love it.

The peanut buttah looks good, but would prefer more fruit on it. Maybe I could get the Brazilino and add some PB. I ordered a Brazilino with added PB, blueberries and pineapple too. The pineapples are canned and not so good. The PB is a big clump and not so good. The pineapple and vanilla dole whip was good for the boys. The açaí bowl is blah.

My friends and I had our first round of shaved ice here and it was a great introduction! The young guy behind the counter was kind and knowledgeable--he answered our questions and made helpful suggestions on flavors and toppings. The spot was in the center of a plaza of other restaurants and shops--had a busy feel, but it was nice. The shop itself wasn't busy that night, so we were served pretty fast. My wife had a mix of Guava-Strawberry, Piña Colada and Coconut with a "Creamy Snowcap." I had a mix of Guava-Strawberry, Mango, and Wild Cherry. It was refreshing and delicious--a little icier than what we would have in the coming days. But still good!!

Since I dined at Down The Hatch, I decided to get my 15% discount for some shaved ice at Breakwall. I ordered a small Rainbow shaved ice ($6) with Snow Cap (+50cents). There aren't too many flavor options and the unique ones cost an extra dollar because they're natural, so passed on that. The shaved ice itself was good and flavors were sweet. This was a refreshing treat after your meal though. I'd highly recommend adding the snow cap because they use a thick condensed milk drizzle over it that was so tasty.

Side Note: I would have given this place a 5 star rating had it not been for the guy who took 35 minutes to make a handful of shave ice. There were only two people in front of me but it took over half and hour and they only had 2 and 2 orders. Then, he made mine with the incorrect flavors and remade it incorrectly again. I was so over the situation I ate my shave ice with the incorrect flavors. They need a second person to help if the person working is new and or that slow. The other people around me were like, what is going on?! Some people left the line it was ridiculous. Aside from all of that the shave ice itself was pretty good. Flavors were better than Ululani's. I only mention that place because everyone seems to compare everything to Ululani's. Their Watermelon flavor was the best watermelon flavor I have ever had. It's not pictured in my review because I forgot to take a photo. Seating: there is no seating inside but there are benches around the place to sit and eat your shave ice. If you eat at Down the Hatch there's a small discount but we didn't know as we had Shave Ice before lunch because why not lol.

The adult shaved ice was fun to try. We got a strawberry guava daiquiri and a mudslide shaved ice. All the flavors of the strawberry guava were from real fruit juice and fruit purees. The mudslide had everything in a traditional mudslide plus a generous portion ice cream. The mudslide was rich and chocolately. The ice itself was pretty standard flaked shaved ice for those who care. Not amazing, but not bad. FYI, theres not enough booze for you to get drunk off the shaved ice, but you might get a little buzz. Guys working the stand were great with no fuss.

I couldn't wait to try the Dole Whip. This place gave me the option to mix it with vanilla ice cream. Yes please! It's basically soft serve pineapple ice. The large was huge and I ate every drop. I finished it before my meal came. Sometimes, I like to eat dessert first. Now, I can check Dole Whip off my bucket list and I didn't have to go to Disney.

We always go to another popular shave ice chain. But, this is so much better! Thier small is what I would call a medium or larger at other places. The ice was thinly shaved and perfect texture. There is also a whole adult shaved ice menu for those that want alcohol mixed in. They also have various ice cream flavors that you can add. Our hotel gave us a couple of coupons for Breakwall; free scoop of ice cream with shaved ice. The girls who were serving today were drowning in the amount of work they had to accomplish. Unfortunately, it transcended into how they treated the customers; not friendly at all. They both were making comments to each other about how frustrated they were. One even started cussing in front of children waiting to be served. One was rolling her eyes at a mother who was ordering. It was just not pleasant being there. The tense atmosphere made me not want to eat my shaved ice (and that's saying a lot lol!) I would recommend to pass on this business. There are other shaved ice places in Lahaina that are less crowded, have tastier flavors ( that are also all natural), and have great customer service. read more

5 stars on the smoothies, theyre amazing, but it seems that they only have 1 person working which makes service so slow. i'm from california and things seem to move faster around there but i really don't like having to wait half an hour for a smoothie that takes them a minute to make. great taste though, love the stuff. down the hatch and breakwall are great spots in lahaina! read more

First time ever trying this type of shaved ice HANDS DOWN BEST PLACE even though there wasn't all the flavors after picking from the few once you taste it OHHHH Eemmm Geee. If i could give 0 stars I would. We have been here for an hour, only one girl working and she is like a snail . Then some other people walked in and SHE TOOK THEIR ORDER BEFORE OURS! I really enjoy this place, i have been in hawaii for a week and today is my second time. I really enjoy their açaí bowls. In my opinion, the snow cones are just like any other snow cone place in town. The staff is very friendly. My favorite açaí bowls are the Brazilero and the Puff the Magic Dragon. This am on Fri 12th, we were skipped in line to order, the Hispanic lady couldn't understand me, she handled ice without gloves and they made our order wrong. Wow. Soooooo good! The person who made my shaved ice, named Mia, was so nice and gave me a great recommendation for what to get, and I am sooo glad I followed her advice! I got the large shaved ice with a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream in the bottom and for the syrups I got POG (Passion, orange, guava), tiger's blood, and pina colada. Then she put sweetened condensed milk on the top, which I think was called a white cap. The flavors were so delicious separately but as it melted together they were even more delicious to eat with the ice cream! Mia packed the shaved ice together and patted it with a little paddle so that it wouldn't just instantly melt when she put the syrup on. Then she poked a bunch of little holes in it so the syrup would penetrate down into it. She was like a freaking artist. I highly recommend that you try this place. It is head and shoulders above any shaved ice side I've had anywhere else. Visiting Lahaina from Utah and we'll definitely come back here! Mia will take good care of you. read more

Yum, yum, yum! I used to go to Jamba Juice to get acai bowls, but you get more for less money at Breakwall and the staff is friendlier! (The Jamba Juice closed, but I would still come here instead.) Madison remembers my order, and Giovanna is superfriendly. It's too bad she's leaving soon... Only drawback is that it takes a long time to get your order, but that's the nature of shave ice/acai bowls and being popular. Totally worth the wait! read more

Not sure why their Yelp score is so high. So many great places to get shave ice on island. This was the most disappointing. Difficult to locate and then the syrup was thin and weak. The ice was nicely shaved, but that's the only thing we liked about it. The snow cap was odd. Not sure what they use for that. read more

One of the places my wife always wants to go to when we travel the different islands is a shave ice store. We have tried so many different places and Breakwall Shave Ice is by far the best Shave Ice on Maui. The staff was friendly and the pricing is reasonable. A must try if you are on Maui. read more

Great shave ice, cold brew coffee and açaí bowls right by the famous Banyan Tree on front street. More of a local feel than some of the other shave ice places around the island. Take some time, drop in and if your over 21 check out the adult shave ice in lots of tropical flavors! read more

A valuant effort but no Ululani's. The bannana flavor tasted very artificial. I did like their all natural flavors but it just didnt compare to what we had previously at another shaved ice venue. Worth mentioning they do have "adult shaved ice" which is something unique on the island although my husband and I didn't try it. read more

Great service! Adult shave ice happy hour everyday from 2-6pm. I had the Mai Tai and it was delicious. They have a huge selection of acai bowls. They offer natural flavors of syrup for ice and several add ons for acai bowls like bee pollen, hemp granola etc. Cold brew coffee looked good and they do offer milk alternatives. We got a small shaved ice with natural flavors (orange mango + guava strawberry) and it's HUGE. Plenty for 2 people. My hubby ordered an acai bowl (Brazilero) which was delicious. The only reason this got 4 stars vs 5 is because they pulled out the frozen fruit from a Costco bag to make the bowl and that was a little disappointing. read more

I wasn't too impressed. We ended up gong here because of a guy by the parking lot we parked in gave us coupons for free scoops of ice cream in the shave ice and also the line for Ululani's was long. Clearly the lady making our shave ice didn't know what what her flavors were. They ran out of "cream" for the cream top of the mai tai adult shave ice. She offered chocolate syrup. Hmmmm. I'm no bartender or mixologist but I don't think they go together. She also offered the same chocolate syrup for my mojito shave ice. Smh. Should've just waited in line. read more

You had me at "adult" shave ice! Best idea ever! Kids can enjoy their typical kiddo flavors while the adults can indulge in some more mature selections. NEVER EVER GOING TO ORDER AÇAÍ BOWLS HERE AGAIN! First if workers have long hair especially when working with food, it should be mandatory to be wearing a hair net, so hair wouldn't be in the way of face or accidentally falling into customers food, Second Açaí bowls aren't supposed to be so watery it should have a thick consistency.. it is just disgusting, I had to throw away one of the bowls with brown blonde hair on it and what a waste of money. A reservation system or some kind of other solution would keep people both well fed and safer. Neighboring businesses said the hack is to arrive at 10 when the initial rush has died down. We waited two hours and they were good but I wouldn't do that to myself again.

The guy in front of me ordered a Mudslide (boozy) which looked over the top as well.
