Breakwall takes shave ice to the next level! I'm a major fan of shave ice, and this is the real deal. The texture is perfect--soft and smooth, they have a selection of all-natural syrup options (guava strawberry, lilikoi, POG, and other tropical flavors) for an extra $1, and guys--they have ADULT shave ice. I went for the piña colada, which has coconut ice cream on the bottom, rum, and piña colada syrup and is topped with sweetened condensed milk and shredded coconut. It was perfect--not too sweet, super flavorful, and the perfect amount of spiked. Adult shave ice is $9 for a small or $12 for a large, and they do $5 happy hour from 2:00-6:00. We also got a kid's size ($4) guava strawberry and lilikoi for the baby and he loved it. Sizes available are kid's, small, large, and massive. The small is a very generous portion and is shareable if you don't want a huge serving. Breakwall also has some nice-looking açaí bowls and a variety of flavors or kombucha. I came to breakwall for shave ice about 25 minutes before they closed and was in a line of only about 4 families. The service was incredibly slow then and at 9pm when we were next in line, they kicked us out of line and said they were closing when we were given no prior warning after waiting for almost 30 minutes. Yummy way to cool down and still have an adult beverage!! I ordered a small mojito float; which was actually huge to the point that I kept telling my husband that I was glad I didn't order the big one because I wouldn't have been able to finish it. Watching the girl make the shaved ice portion of the dessert was pretty cool. She stands in front of this machine that spits out super fine ice and she meticulously molds it into the perfect shape. Then for added measure she pats it down with a paddle to make it ever more perfect. Then the toppings were added and the magic came alive when she added RUM!!! It wasn't overly sweet or overly boozy, just the perfect balance. My hubby didn't want to have one; I was the only lush, so he had their house made kombucha which was tasty. Even after pointing out their sign that stated it lasted until 6, they shrugged and couldn't give us an answer on why they had stopped it early. Got the adult shave ice (mai tai) and it was awesome! Loved the macadamia nut ice cream at the bottom. A bit different than a traditional mai tai but a nice addition with the shave ice experience. Despite being a desert, it also packed a punch, definitely had a strong pour in the 'large' size. Only downside was that they packed the ice so tight and high that the flavors didn't make it all the way through. Needed to melt a bit for all of the flavors to come together. read more

I ordered a small (but actually huge) Mudslide Shaved Ice. This flavor is strictly for the 21+ crowd. It begins with a generous scoop of cookies and cream ice cream, mounded and packed with powdery shaved ice, and flavored with espresso, vodka, Bailey's, Khalua, chocolate syrup, and condensed milk. The texture was so creamy and the espresso added a nice depth of flavor. This won't get you buzzed, but is such an awesome concept. My husband and I were eating at down the hatch which was actually very good and the bartender recommended that we go to break wall shave ice afterwards to enjoy a very unique shave ice experience. He claimed that it was just as good if not better than every other shave ice but what made it even more special was the fact that you could add booze to it. Well we got suckered in, and one across the way to get a small shave ice to split. There was hardly any syrup or booze in our shave ice, and within a couple of bites each it was literally just ice at the bottom. The ice wasn't even all that fluffy.
