I had heard so many great things about this place. I mean I know their main restaurant is really good. Had some really good musubi and also a really good breakfast burrito and a juice one morning. There was only one person working that day, but he was generally very nice. Nothing very special about the ambience. Most of that does show up on the other side of the room at the hotdog stand.

We had their shaved ice and they were good. I added vanilla ice cream to mine. Coconut, guava and lychee syrup. Very sweet for my taste, but kids will love it. Hubby got tigers blood, Pineapple and I can't recall. He ate all of his. I couldn't finish mine.

Guy working the counter today was so rude. My husband placed an order at the deli and is hearing impaired. The employee made fun of my husband's impairment and instead of writing his name on the order he wrote "excuse me?" Tipped generously before being insulted. I recommend waiting in the long Puka Dog line if you wish to protect your friends and family from being personally attacked while ordering lunch. Mahalo

Stopped by before going to the beach. The place is run by two guys who prepare the food themselves so if they're busy service may be a bit slower. But the food was pretty good! I had the breakfast burrito. The guy did a great job of making the eggs, stirring them constantly over low heat, exactly how it should be done. The burrito and sandwich are a bit on the small side but the prices reflect that. They had an impressive selection of drinks in their fridge. And a good amount of pastries. Definitely worth a stop for a quick bite.

To the guy on Jan 20, 2023 around 2:15pm. You were very rude especially in front of my teen girls. Never judge a book by it's cover. I asked what's the price for the 4 pack of Mai Tai and you stated to expensive and huffed a deep breath... scanned and said $27. I took it and even gave you the lowest tip but as I stood there after I paid, you eventually told me your done and did not give me my receipt. I wish you the best of luck with the Hawaii life you were given. Please don't treat people like that when they are enjoying the time here on Kauai.

Way to much mustard, I did ask for small kine other then that it was good.

Aloha this is an update! My husband and I have this place another chance we spend money here. However customer service is indifferent! It's like you are Bothering them I just didn't get a good vibe again. Every Saturday we would spend money that this place , not any more never again. This time I mean it. I love good customer service I love delicious food. Anyone can make sandwiches and take them to the beach. I'm happy to say we are done with this place!!!!! We will bring our money else where.

Super nice people. World famous Mai Tai wasn't very impressive but other dishes we ordered were pretty good! Happy that we stopped by!

Great mai tai and food! We walked across the street afterwards and saw about 25 green sea turtles coming on to the beach!

The chicken had a nice flavor and was nice and hot when it was served. The food was good, but not worth waiting over an hour in my opinion. You can make your own judgments, depending on how much time you have. We stopped by Leong's in Coconut Marketplace on a Sunday, which may have had something to do with the service. Plus, Kauai is a very small island and I was not expecting big city service speeds. However, it did take over an hour for us to get our food. That seems long, even for a small restaurant on a small island. We got to the restaurant and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table; not an issue. Once we got seated, we got water and coffee very quickly; not an issue. But when a large table (that was seated since we got to the restaurant) got their food after we had been waiting for 30 minutes, we started to get a little worried. The whole restaurant experience lasted about an hour and a half, and only about 20 minutes of that was eating. There were only two human waitstaff (and one robot which seemed kind of cool but mostly like an inconvenience to the workers), so I can understand somewhat. We also may have felt more pressured because we had to be somewhere after lunch.

Every time we're in Kauai, always dine at Eating once or twice. Fantastic food, service and views…read more We had reservations which are highly recommended. Request a table near the windows for a sunset view. We arrived and were greeted and seated immediately. Shortly afterwards we were served complementary spicy edamame. We ordered three appetizers to share. Brussel Sprouts & Cauliflower, Black Garlic & Yuzu Ahi Tartar and Vietnamese Style Sashimi. The Brussel Sprouts & Cauliflower was excellent, golden raisins and pine nuts add sweetness and texture, balsamic vinegar counters with wonderful acid contrast. The Black Garlic & Yuzu Ahi Tartar is simply fabulous, one of the best bites I have ever had. I first had this dish two years ago when it was introduced as a new dish in a prefix meal. On that trip we returned to enjoy the dish once again. Had it again last year as I travel to Kauai each year. I'm happy to see it is still on the menu! Our third dish was the Vietnamese Style Sashimi and it was okay, although a bit underwhelming for Eating House standards. It was fresh but lack the complexity that I have grown to expect from this restaurant. We requested some wasabi and it helped with the flavors. My thinking is the jalapeño oil should have been more concentrated or pronounced. To be clear I did not complain, regardless the dish was removed from our bill. Very nice. Thank you. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The view at sunset was amazing. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!

The front desk staff guided me to the elevator. This trip was for my birthday. In every reservation when asked about a special occasion, I put birthday. This was the first restaurant to acknowledge my special day. The check-in staff wished me well as did the server. We had been to several restaurants prior to Eating House that didn't say a word. Kudos to the staff for its kindness. The restaurant is open air and very comfortable. It has a rustic feel. We were seated by the window on a cool, rainy night but were perfectly dry the whole evening. On top of that, our server was very helpful in guiding us to order the right amount of food. He brought us a serving of edamame which is always on the house. The shrimp & pork potstickers were very good. I had the ramen which was tasty, filling and a great choice. Our server was terrific to put the spicy oil on the side which made it easier for me to eat. My husband had the butterfish which is the best I have ever tasted. It is a signature dish and always a pleaser. The only real downside is the limited menu. We were told that because of a staff shortage, it wasn't the typical menu. This was disappointing. But they did have the best of the Roy's dishes. So far, it has been the best experience that we have had in Poipu.
