Entering the shop, you will be greeted by loud music. Be ready for that. You will have the option to dine outside, if the weather provides it and the seats are empty. The hosts are wonderful and very accepting with a positive attitude. Smiles and all. I ordered the Jim because it was the only sandwich I could eat. The majority of the sandwiches contain meat, so I would not recommend this for vegans or pescatarians. Jim was delicious and I consumed both halves of Jim flawlessly. Either hunger overruled me, or the sandwich was that satisfying. I do recommend the shop, but with limited options for non-meat eaters, I truthfully would rate Lottie and Zulas, 4.5. Yet, I don't believe the spot was "good."

We also had the Vinny which was fine, a bit spicier than I thought it would be, but I'm a wimp. The service was fine, not overly friendly but adequate. The food is 4 stars, the service 3 starts, but the real bummer was all the plastic. Plastic container, plastic cups and we were eating in. They asked if it was to go and we said no, but everything came in plastic anyway. The ambiance is quintessential Portland, right up until they bring all your food in plastic with plastic silverware to boot.

The food cart is located in a little gated square, along with several other carts. The central dining area is great-- space is plentiful, there are tented and untented tables, and it is very clean. The food cart space is located on Albina, which means you can easily make an afternoon of your outing. There are a ton of small shops and boutiques around with pretty much anything you can imagine. Chubby Bunny doesn't have anyone outside to take your order. Instead, you order on a big tablet and they text you when your food is ready. I'll admit I actually hate ordering on tablets because I miss getting to chat with a human being, but that was the only negative thing about this experience and I know a lot of people vastly prefer the no contact options. I got the Sandwich Week Breakfast Sandwich (fake eggs and meat with a spicy sauce on a pretzel bun) and a hash brown. It was INCREDIBLE. I was a little skeptical to try the fake eggs (I am a vegetarian, not a vegan), but I couldn't tell a difference at all. I get why they call themselves "accidentally vegan"-- it absolutely tasted like the real deal. The sandwich was large, flavorful, and the sauce had such an excellent zing. The hash brown was perfectly crispy. This was a great meal and for $10, it was a great deal too. We will absolutely return.

I did a filter for which restaurants are offering a vegan sandwich for $10! I have heard of Chubby Bunny, but until now, I have not tried them out. They are a food truck located in a pod on Alberta Street. I was able to park close by in the neighborhood. When I entered the pod, I found Chubby Bunny right away. I was planning on paying with cash, but I saw a sign to use the kiosk. The kiosk was handy, but pay with a card. I thought oh well. But when I went to the window, I saw a sign to ring the bell if you were picking up an order, paying cash or had questions. I decided to get another sandwich to go, so I rang the bell and paid cash for it. When my first sandwich was ready, they called my name. I sat at a small outdoor table next to the food truck. The Nice Bunny, which was the special for sandwich week, was really good! It consisted of Fried Spamm, egg, melted provolone cheese, Creole mustard, on a toasted pretzel bun. 100% Secretly Vegan. It was really satisfying! I definitely plan on returning to try other menu items!

No café would be complete without pastries, and their case is chock-full (GF options also available). THE GRITTY: Service is hit-or-miss, but the kitchen is exceptional with a garden fresh Farmer's Salad + Smoked Trout (green strawberries, cucumber, radish, hazelnuts) in the lightest vinaigrette, shaved cheese on top. The Salted Apricot Matcha was sweet & green, but lacking reported fruit/salt nuances. For a third try, I'd love to sample some of their featured Six Cups herbal tea, Chef's recommendations, or catering!

The space is cute and relatively small, so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets crowded and has a longer wait. They have a counter with a bunch of pastries and several people came and got food and pastries to go. We got the full corn cakes plate and the trout sandwich and both were excellent. I would say the corn cakes were the better of the two dishes but I would get either of them again. The menu isn't massive, so you have to like what they have to like the restaurant, but at the very least both of these dishes were excellent! The coffee was quite tasty too and has bottomless refills which is always nice. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!
