Briarpatch is an amazing place for brunch located in the heart of Winter Park. This was my first time visiting Winter Park and I'm so happy with my decision to eat here! From the minute my boyfriend and I walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess. There was a bit of a wait, considering it was a Saturday brunch, but I was able to give my name and phone number and walked around Winter Park for a bit. I got the text saying that our table was ready even before the time that was quoted to us, which was nice. We were able to sit outside, which we preferred, and the entire staff complied with the mask and safety guidelines. I ordered a coffee and the Brown Butter Belgian Waffle with fresh fruit. I also ordered a side of two scrambled eggs to share with my boyfriend, since the waffle was just served on its own. The waffle was one of the best waffles I have ever had, it was so crispy and delicious! The fruit was definitely fresh and it was an exquisite addition to my waffle. I also have to rave about the scrambled eggs, it was nicely cooked and so fluffy! This restaurant is located in Winter Park. The hostess was super sweet but that's where the positivity ended. Our waiter took forever, he was inattentive and absent majority of the meal. My drink sat empty for 10+ minutes while staff passed many times. I ordered the eggs benedict. The English muffin was burnt to the point of being inedible. I couldn't eat it. It left a strange after taste with the rest of the food. By the time the waiter came by to check I was no longer hungry since it took so long. We will not be returning. Sweet little place right on Park Avenue. We went on a Sunday after church and it was packed! The service was very friendly, even though we waited a little bit to be seated, the staff seemed to be organized with the amount of people that were there. We were fortunate to sit outside right on the avenue but from what I witnessed with the inside seating, it seemed loud and cramped. The food was delicious but was a bit pricey for what you get. It didn't take too long for the food to come out. I would definitely come back as there were other menu items that looked incredible but I would pick another day other than Sunday because it was a little too crowded for my liking. read more

Bright and cheery family oriented restaurant frequented by locals and out of towners. Food is top quality, fresh and delicious. They have cakes that literally weigh 30 pounds uncut. One slice of the red velvet or chocolate cakes can easily feed a family of 4. We sat outside under the yellow awnings and umbrellas. Chairs contrast with a modern white feel. I visit Winter Park a lot and every time I attempted to go to the Briarpatch it was always booked and super busy. Took the Sunrail with my 7 year old for lunch and was able to be seated right away!! And let me tell you... absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Beautiful surroundings, clean and very pretty bathroom. Our server Ciara was a beautiful girl, inside and out. Very attentive, friendly and made our experience at the Briarpatch WONDERFUL. I had the smoked salmon scramble and my fancy daughter got the three cheese, bacon and tomato grill. Such a fun brunch spot but beware that it is pretty packed!! The line outside is ran fairly so literally the second a table gets up they seat whoever is next in line. I got the sausage, spinach and goat cheese omelet but asked them to scramble it and it was DIVINE. So silky smooth and they did not skimp on the goat cheese! My only issue is that given the popularity of this place you are very quickly served and expected to get out as soon as your are done given the long line outside. I wish I could've tried the Hawaiian pancakes but know just about everything on the menu is rich, flavorful and a pretty good quality bang for our buck! I wasn't a huge fan of my friend's grits but other than that I hope to eventually come back and try more!! read more

I sit here in speechless amazement. We've come back as a family to one of out favorite places while here in Florida, a trendy brunch place with a great atmosphere and friendly service. Today, I ordered a side of cheese grits. I didn't care for them and asked for regular grits instead. Not an outrageous request. Our super sweet server told me she had to check with the manager. What? Hmm. She came back to say it couldn't be done but she'd be more than happy to add another order in there for us. I'm really in shock. Such a tiny thing. A $5 side item. Not a $15 omelette. The food gets 5*, the servers themselves are great (she apologized for the managements rules, tacky in my opinion.) But it's a ridiculous reason to lose loads of customers. And believe me, I will be telling people and those with me who live here, will also be telling people. This place is overrated. Food is good, but not worth waiting hours in a line. Portions are very large, so sharing is recommended. They will not seat you until the entire party is present, so even if you have been standing there for a while, they will seat parties behind you first. You will be rushed to eat quickly and be seated very closed to other tables. It's so loud inside, you can't have even hear your own party. Usually I am a big fan of Briarpatch but my time there on Fathers Day was not very good. The line wasn't bad, which hr can be quite often. We were seated after about 10-15 minute wait. We were seated outside by choice and the sever was quick to take our drink order. I ordered the corned beef Benedict and my husband ordered just a simple egg and English muffin and some sausage. After that we didn't see our server until the end of the meal. At one point someone else came by saying she was going to be helping since our server was a bit busier than expected.... and then that person vanished as well. Our food was delivered and it was nice and piping hot. However we didn't have any utensils to eat it with. I had to go inside and ask... and this was after I had already gone in for napkins and water. My husband then had to head in for Jelly for his muffin as well. Wasn't til we were ready for the check that someone came to check on us. The food - the corners beef was COVERED with hash browns...and they weren't the delicious kind either. Once I moved half of them to a side plate, I was able to eat a really nice bite of corned beef along with a yummy grilled English muffin and a perfectly poached egg... covered in Hollandaise. The menu had the typical offerings of omelettes, sandwiches, salads, and burgers. The service was okay. Briarpatch is as much of an asset to Winter Park as Park Avenue has ever been. I grew up here, and remember when Park Ave (and maybe Winter Park Village) was the place in Winter Park to eat, drink, and be merry. However, in the past few years, especially the ones in which I've been living in Colorado, it seems this town has grown tremendously. Park Avenue is now loaded with great cuisine, bars, and of course, shops. New York Avenue is paralleled, Mills Avenue has exploded, and Baldwin Park is developed. Yet... Briarpatch remains. In fact, they still serve up some of the same fantastic quality breakfast options that I have been enjoying since I was very young, with some fresh additions of course. Sentimentality aside, this is a very good restaurant. You can order anything you'd ever want from a breakfast establishment, and - although I didn't verify on my visit just a few days ago - ice cream, cakes, and other sweets. The interior is very modern, with white stained wood, white painted brick, and marble counters. It's very pretty. We ordered a few Blood Orange Margaritas, some Bourbon Blackberry Lemonade, and then dug in. As always, the pancakes are spectacular, the omelettes are loaded, and the cheese grits are an essential upgrade. However, and I guess I never noticed this, this restaurant is crazy loud. I mean, really loud. We were actually yelling at each other in order to hold conversation, and eventually just gave up. Ultimately, this is a pretty big downside to an early morning eats, which at it's most quintessential purpose is supposed to be a forum for friends and family to communicate. The atmosphere and the design of the place are ver nice, modern and very awakening.Even though it was very busy we got our food really fast.
