This restaurant is adorable and very welcoming. The food is also great. I had he eggs Benedict that has avocado (I can't remember the name of it) and it was pretty good. Not the best eggs benedict i have ever had but one to he better ones. The potatoes were also yummy. My friend got the cheese grits and they were all types of cheesy goodness (the type that you can feel your arteries clogging as you enjoy it). They also have a nice selection of breakfast sweets but I usually go more savory for breakfast. The sweet items looked delicious though. read more

Briarpatch restaurant is tired and stale, with and unchanging menu and no new ideas. Being on Park Avenue, you just expect more. It's kind of like they have been around for so long that they have run out of steam and just don't care. The kicker is that it is so cute. The outside seating is cute, the inside is cute, and the servers are cute. What is not cute is the food quality which is hit or miss, the service (my three year old could do a better job) and the promptness of food delivery. I want so badly to like the Briarpatch but they really need to pull it together and stop trying to pass them selves off as a good restaurant. If you must go, get the zucchini bread. First off we ordered an iced caramel latte and it was shit. We noticed it separating before our eyes on the side of the cup. Then the short rib eggs Benedict was recommended to us and let's just say I wish I never ordered it. Can I mention it cost a total of 26 bucks? Definitely not worth it. I was excited to try this place but unfortunately, it was very disappointing. The only healthy option was an eye white omelette filled with chunks of tomorrow soaking wet in olive oil and basil. Food is great but the service can be a bit iffy. It also gets super crowded inside so if you are claustrophobic, maybe don't come on the weekends or late morning. They also won't seat you until the whole party is present so don't try to sneak in with a couple members and get sat; they will make you wait in line. Price is fair for what it is, and it's one of the few longer lives brunch spots in winter park. Just keep in mind 99% of the serving staff is in high school or college and don't exactly have a lot of experienced hands on management. I'd give it 2.5-3 stars on service and 4+ on food, and since I care more about food I'm going to weigh it to 4. read more

So after here and there reading wonderful things about this place I decided to give it a shot. I guess I should have waited even longer because this place was all hype. I'm only given this place 3 stars because the food albeit pricey was decent. We waited in line for about 45 minutes to an hour which is a whole experience that they should probably revamp. I would recommend having someone get there early to wait in line so everyone else can just go to the table however they will not seat you unless your entire party is there. Our server was terrible I don't even think she provided her name when she walked over to the table and took us about 30 minutes just to get our drinks and another 30 to get the food after we finally had our drinks. By the time we left we spent about two and a half hours there with a table for 2. Not sure if I would go to this overpriced, overhyped, place again! BTW the bill was almost $70 and we didn't order any alcoholic drinks or from specialty menu. I'll stick to Another Broken Egg! read more

By far the most popular breakfast/brunch attraction in Winter Park. For the impatient folk, I recommend visiting during the not so common hours during the week. The wait is usually long but seems to be always worth it. The food here is amazing! The pancakes were one of the best that I've ever had. The reason why I just couldn't give it five stars was because the service. We had to wait to be seated but me and my family didn't mind. After being seated, we had to wait 15 minutes for our server to come. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. We had to wait over 45 minutes for the food!!!! The people to our right had gotten their food before us even though they were seated after us. After my travels around the "world" at Epcot, I was extremely excited about taking my friends to this fabulous brunch spot before we hit the road back to Miami. BOY OH BOY was I soooo disappointed. My first time here the food was great, the friendliness of the staff was excellent, and their fabulous red-velvet cake was to die for. We arrived and put our names on the waiting list. After about 10 minutes, they sat other parties before us. We approached the hostess stand, and she said, "oh, um, you guys were next. "They placed 4 pretty tall people in a table smack in the middle of this teeny restaurant. We were bumped by every waiter and patron on their way in and out of the bathroom. But even after our terrible start, I was still looking forward to my delicious eggs benedict. Unfortunately, we couldn't flag down a waiter to serve us!! 4 waiters passed by us and no one where or who our waiter was. Luckily a bus girl, took a look at our parched faces and offered us some water. Finally a disheveled waiter headed to our table! Hallelujah! I ordered the Briarpatch Benedict, 2 people ordered the Steak Benedict, and the other person ordered an omelette. Everyone was enjoying their food, until the steak started "moooo-ing." My boyfriend enjoys meat pretty rare, but this was gross! We flagged down our waiter and sent back the steak. (Keep in mind, we had probably finished 1/4th of our meal. ) He took the plate back to the kitchen and like 20 minutes later, he comes back! And tells us that the kitchen can't re-cook the steak and that he took it off our check! Ummmmm, I think the I- am- still- hungry- look my boyfriend shot at him, actually surprised him! So my friends and I decided to meet here for brunch. Now they all have been here before but this was my first time. I honestly thought that this would be a typically brunch/breakfast area, boy was I surprised. I ended up having one of the Benedict meals and one of my friends had the butter pecan waffle. The Benedict was absolutely delicious the meat was very moist and succulent. It was laid on a bed of hash browns instead they typical English muffin, which I honestly now may prefer due to that the hasbrown was perfectly crispy. So on top of my huge meal, I tried my friends butter pecan waffle and I now want to go back and just order this. The waffle was sooo buttery and flavorful in every bite and the pecan were roasted to perfection. Now this waffle was not small at all so it would not leave you hungry. I also tried their bacon and when it came out it doesn't look like your typical bacon you would pan fry at home. This bacon was huge and it honestly looked like it was air fried. But it was very crispy and better because I did not feel like I was just eating a ton of grease. read more

This review will not be about the wait times bc I'm smart enough not to go to brunch here on a weekend nor is it about the prices bc when I go to park ave I expect to pay a pretty penny. But what I also expect is high quality food with great service and I didn't get that. The service was just okay. Everyone seemed frazzled and it was a Wednesday morning. The omelet was tough and overstuffed and large enough for a wooly mammoth. The potatoes were not seasoned at all. The biscuit was dense and cold. The side salad was a group of leaves with lemon juice on top and the medium cooked burger my pregnant friend ordered was so rare I swear it moo-ed at us and threatened her fetus. The fried green tomatoes were the only thing I enjoyed. The pancakes that I observed other people eating looked pretty good so if I ever go back that is what I will try and I will update my review at that time. Until then, save yourself money and heartache and go to Another Broken Egg or First Watch or White Wolf. read more

I ordered a mimosa, which had no price listed on the menu. I got my bill...the mimosas in a tiny champagne flute are $9 each!!!!!!!!!! I felt so ripped off. The food isn't good enough to charge that much for a drink, and our table was wobbly. You'd expect perfection from a place that charges so much. Ember has all you can drink mimosas in different flavors and large glasses for $10. Island Time has specials on mimosas for $3 each. $9 is ridiculous, and not listing your price when they're so unexpectedly high is very shady! I came here for lunch with a friend and thought the food was really great. I ordered a spinach salad and my friend ordered the California Benedict which looked tasty. It was definitely busy but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table outside because we had a large stroller. My only complaint was the experience. We waited about 15 minutes for someone to greet us and take our drink order. We had to ask another waiter for some help. Once we got our food ordered and brought out to us we waited and waited for a drink refill that never came. Our waiter was no where to be found again. The atmosphere is pleasant. They don't take reservations or take names so if you arrive and it's busy you have to wait in line to get a table. I had the southwestern omelet with home fries and my bf had the eggs Benedict with home fries. The portions are large but I believe the menu is overpriced overall. The food is good but it isn't over-the-top. I believe their speciality items are their pancakes, French toast, and waffles. If you are craving any of those, Briar patch will deliver. As many years as I've lived in central Florida, I had never eaten at Briarpatch. I went with a friend for breakfast this past weekend and found it to be a very enjoyable experience. There wasn't a wait for a beautiful Saturday morning and we were seated right away. I liked the warmth and bright colors of the inside of the restaurant. Our server tended to us quickly and was helpful and pleasant throughout. The availability of options such as egg whites was not explicitly noted on the menu, but I was able to get my food to order. I had scrambled egg whites, avocado and wheat toast. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The prices were a bit more than I would prefer to pay for breakfast, but it is Park Avenue in Winter Park. Prices were not outrageous by any means. I tend not to like to sit out in open spaces with others while eating, but the atmosphere in the Briarpatch was warm and friendly. Great food. Bad service. I was here on a tuesday for lunch and it wasn't busy at all but it took forever to get our food. First off, I ordered a lemonade which took a good 10 minutes for our waitress to bring (and she was soft spoken/mumbled so I couldn't even understand her reason for it taking so long). Then our food took over a half hour to come out. The 2 other people in my party got their food and then mine arrived 10 minutes later. Again, the waitress mumbled some reason for why it took so long. And during our wait, she never checked on us or even let us know that it was going to be a while for our food or anything like that. I came here again saturday morning for breakfast. The food was AMAZING. I highly recommend the Blue Heaven Wheat & Fiber Pancakes. It was way more packed than when I ate there for lunch, but took half the time for our food to arrive. However, our service was iffy. My friend ordered a chocolate milk which took about 10-15 minutes for her to bring. She was good on refilling our coffee, but then when it was time to pay the bill, after she took our credit cards, it took about 15 minutes to bring them back. And it wasn't even our waitress who returned the cards, it was some other employee. TL;DR: eat here if you want some good food (especially for breakfast) but you don't mind slow service! read more

I've been in the industry for 25+ years and it's simply not done any better, anywhere regardless of price and atmosphere others may boast about. The food is incredible and attention to detail is matched by few. I've seen comments by several pontificating about "this or that" and commenting as if you were the next star on the food channel. The service was a little slow, but then again it was Easter so that's understandable. I would definitely eat here every chance I get.
