So I'll say that the location was fantastic. You do have to check in at the restaurant, and when I went to check in their computer was down, which was a little annoying because I could not check in. About an hour later I was finally able to check in. I was on the 3rd floor and there was not an elevator, only stairs. They should warn people of that before booking. But it wasn't too bad. The room was spacious and nice but it was NOT clean. The bed was dirty and still has the imprint and wrinkles from the previous guest. It was about midnight when I alerted staff and they came up immediately with clean blankets and linen. The headboard should be cleaned by professionals as it was still dirty looking. read more

I've been to the North End many times over the years but never actually stayed in the North End. This time we really just wanted to enjoy it without having to drive around and look for parking. We arrived a bit early so we decided to check to see if our suite was ready. Jack, who greeted us, was wonderful, and got us to our suite immediately. By the way, this is not a typical hotel with a lobby... You check in at the Bricco Restaurant and Lounge next door. We had a two-bedroom suite as our daughter was joining us later that night. The rooms were clean, excellent bedding, and there was a nice bathroom with a great shower. However, the shower drain was slow. The kitchen had a mini fridge/cooler (with water), electric stovetop, tea kettle, glassware, utensils, and plates. Great for preparing snacks and having a few drinks; however, tea was not replenished. Three flat screens available, one in each of the bedrooms and one in the kitchen. Overall our stay was good, and we really enjoyed the Bricco Salumeria, the Mare restaurant, and the Bricco Panetteria. We ate at all three places during our four-day stay--all just down the stairs from our room which was perfect. Every one of the staff members was super nice and helpful if we needed anything. However, I found that items were not replenished in the room, such as clean towels, which is necessary as we stayed four nights. It would have been nice to have a microwave and a pot or pan to reheat food, and a coffee maker. With all the wonderful restaurants and bakeries in the area we often had leftovers, which would have required reheating via stovetop or microwave (had one been provided) or a pot or pan to reheat food. It also would have been nice had they replenished the tea. A coffee maker would have been nice. We ended up providing our own. While they do provide cleaning service, we didn't notice the placard that needed to be placed outside the door in order for them to service it. Therefore, our room was serviced only one day. Remember to do this if you want to have the room cleaned and to refresh bathroom towels. We really enjoyed Bricco Suites and would return. read more

Number one must know: there is no elevator and you may be climbing anywhere from 3 to 5 steep flights of stairs every time you come in. This lodging is a good option if you know what you're getting. You are basically renting a room. You will have a private entrance and bathroom, and might have a sitting room depending on which room you rent. It is not a traditional hotel so there is no lobby (check in at the adjacent restaurant), no room service, no concierge, and did I mention no elevator?? You will however find a clean and pleasant room, comfortable bedding, mini fridge, range (to make tea), coffee maker, air conditioning, and little amenities such as an umbrella. The location is really good for exploring the North End, walking the Freedom Trail, or walking to nearby historic sites. There are literally 100 or more Italian restaurants, bars and cafes within a few blocks. It can get pretty loud with people dining at the open window places. Last night it was raucously noisy until 3 am and then the garbage trucks started coming at 5 am. Bring earplugs if this will bother you. Restaurant/ hotel clerk Eliana was super nice, she carried our luggage up fifty plus stairs. And then waited past 11 pm to check in my mom whose plane was delayed. In general they check in only until 11 so plan accordingly. Assistant manager was professional and warm and offered to tour us around but we did not have time to take him up on it. Same company owns about a dozen businesses in this neighborhood so check out their restaurants etc too. I would never stay there again due to no elevator... it was pretty rough on my 90 year old mom. But would recommend if you're spry or hearty. read more

Location is ground zero for the north end. The rooms overall, excellent for a "self serve" hotel experience. Don't anticipate a front desk or phone in the room to request additional towels. I loved staying here and at the North End. After hours and weeks of searching each neighborhood and every hotel, I decided to stay on the Freedom Trail. LETS START WITH THIS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY! Down the alley is this hidden gem! Waking up to the smell of fresh bread being baked every morning from Bricco Panneteria. Walk out of your suite and out the door to see fresh pasta being made and tours being done to start the day! There is a magazine showing all of the Depasquale Ventures in the area and none of them disappointed! Hats off to Frank Depasquale for making it such a unique experience with so many amazing restaurants in such a small area because this trip was everything and more! 1. I want to point out how amazing this staff is. While my boyfriend went looking for a parking lot, Patrick checked me in and carried all of my bags into our room and gave me his card and told us to let him know of anything that we need! He did just that! Any questions or recommendations he was happy to assist with. He even gave me another contact to speak with if I had any questions when he wasn't available. (Gina you were amazing too! Thank you!) 2. You will be in the best spot for all of the Italian food you can imagine. Bricco has probably the best espresso martini I've ever tasted in my life. The shrimp scampi and eggplant dishes were amazing as well. 3. Quattro pizza and pistachio martinis (Drool)! Amazing little spot, also apart of the Depasquale ventures. Mike the manager there was such a nice guy and also gave us many recommendations on spots to check out and things to try. I mean it when I say they made this trip so amazing for us! We didn't have to do a ton of searching, most of the spots were right on Hanover street! 4. If you don't want to drive and want to be in a great part of Boston, this is your place! Hidden gem in the North End. You can't beat the price per sq ft or location. It's steps from the Freedom Trail and all the landmark restaurants, and we would have had a single studio in one of the hotel chains for the same rate we paid for our two bedroom Bricco suite. The place is very Euro-style with minimal furnishings that gives the suite a very clean and spacious feel. I thought it was odd not to have a couch in the common area, but I didn't miss it or the germs found in hotel upholstery. (I see other units have couches, however.) We sat in the dining chairs that could be wiped down and slept in crisp white clean sheets under an equally stark white fluffy comforter on a mattress protected by an additional clean white cover. It was like sleeping on a cloud. Our dining table and shower drain area could have been scrubbed a little better, but the entire suite was clean otherwise. The kitchen is outfitted with a fridge stocked with standard overpriced Voss water and soda for purchase and a two-burner stove with a tea kettle. Bottle opener, mugs, wine glasses, cutting board, plates, cloth napkins, utensils, and a coffee maker are available. Would have liked either a pot, pan, or a microwave to warm up food. Other amenities include large TVs, iron and board, hairdryer, toiletries, dimmers for nearly every light switch (simple but nice luxury!), a safe, plush towels, and a full length mirror. :) We had a good night's sleep every night. The hum from the highway didn't bother us except when one angry driver laid on his horn for an obnoxiously long time. Black out curtains would be nice, but the blinds and thick curtains do a decent job of keeping the room dark. I would definitely return here and recommend it for anyone wanting to be within walking distance to the tourist stops and take a cab or Uber elsewhere. The closest paid parking is four blocks away. If you do drive, park briefly in front of the Bricco restaurant and inside the host will direct you to check in. Staff led the way through a short alley and carried our bags all the way up the stairs while my husband found parking. It was a nice room & a positive experience. Stayed in Rm 204. It was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable (except the pillows) and the shower was amazing - had 2 shower heads. Room also had a small kitchenette w/ a refrigerator. Location was amazing- right in the heart of the North End, on the Freedom Trail and walking distance from everything we wanted to do. So, why not a 5???? Little things that were fine for us but might might not appeal to others. Room 204 is on the 5th floor & only accessible by walking up a long, winding staircase. The fireplace is just for show. And while there is a cooktop & a tea kettle, there is no tea or any pots or pans to use on the cooktop. Two other things to know: 1. it's a lively part of town so it can be noisy late into the night 2. Check-in & Check-out is a little unorthodox. It's done at the restaurant host stand. Again, these things were fine for us but felt they should be mentioned in case they are important to others. Overall, a great place to stay. A great location to spend your time. And the manager, Patrick, was also great. He gave us his business card after hearing of our 4:30 wake up call by the local fire department. He also kept our bags for us after check-out since we had a later flight. We would definitely stay here again! read more

Check in was at the restaurant below, it was easy. Beware of the stairs- hauling luggage up multiple flights of steep stairs (no elevator), was no joke, but the room itself was great. We stayed here four nights and would have liked to ask some questions, but without a "front desk", we really didn't know where to go and who to ask. No literature in the room to guide us- it was weird. We did have two bottles of water at our door daily. The bed was very comfortable, the decor was simple- modern finishes, we loved the fireplace. There was a nice glass desk and "leather" chair in the room, however the leather was peeling and worn. The view was of Hanover street- a lot of traffic, but we didn't mind it. The kitchenette was convenient. Tea kettle, fridge, nice plates, linen napkins, tea towel, and silverware if you need it. A little table w/chairs (they were cloth chairs and very stained, kind of off putting). The bathroom was okay. A huge shower with two shower heads- very nice and we had plenty of hot water, but the peeling paint on the ceiling made it seem cheap and unkept. Pros: centrally located in the midst of many restaurants and bars; renovated suite (we had a 2-bedroom); friendly employees Cons: noisy outside when we wanted to sleep (because it's located in the midst of everything); strange walking into a restaurant below the hotel in order to check in at the hostess stand (it's a crowded restaurant and we struggled to go in with our suitcases); hard to get to rooms (through an alley, up a flight of stairs, no elevator; anyone could get to our hotel door - little security; only a kitchen table to sit at (no sofa or comfortable chair); rather pricey. 3 stars given so it's ok, but not for those who want quiet, good security and amenities as found in typical hotel chains read more

Quaint European style hotel in the heart of the North End. Close to everything - food, ferry transport, T lines, Freedom Trail. Patrick was a great host, accommodated us early both days, hooked us up with dinner reservations on a very busy evening. Extremely helpful and responsive. Bricco also has an amazing bakery and deli for delicious breads, cheeses, etc. around the corner. The best part of this hotel is the location. Right smack in the Italian North End of Boston. The restaurants and the history within an easy walking distance. It was kind of weird that we checked in via the Bricco restaurant where we were directed down an alley down a step and up several steps to our room. No ID was asked for. No elevator if your room was up stairs. Amenities were great. Staff at the restaurant was great. Very welcoming. The AC was very loud when it came on. Guests overhead was noisy walking around above us. Bathroom (although clean an updated) was very small. Linens were comfortable but the pillows were horrible. Flat and not comfortable. I thought the setup for Bricco Suites was strange. To check in and out, I had to go inside the restaurant, and then was led to my room. I stayed here on two separate nights in two different rooms, and both bedrooms were facing the street which made for a noisy night. The first night I stayed there, I was woken up the next morning by construction outside, and the second night, there was a lot of noise on the street at night. Otherwise, everything was clean, arranged well, and the way a hotel should be. The kitchen area is also quite small, but it works. read more

My wife and I stayed here for a night. It's in a Nice are in the North End of Boston. However, I had a first floor room which was an issue. The walls and ceiling are paper thin. So, you hear everything from the upstairs room as well as the outside common area. The bed was extremely comfortable, but the room was dusty and had numerous flies in it. I've stayed in many hotels throughout the world. A sign outside our door says it's rated 4.3 out of 5 stars. This is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. $300 is crazy for this place. There is no manager to speak to in person. You check in at the restaurant. So when the noise was an issue, I called the manager and nothing was done. No apology, compensation, meal, coffee......nothing has been offered as of yet. Save your money and choose one of the many other 5 star hotels in the area and get a restful night sleep!! read more

I travel on business, and after my recent stay at the Bricco, I feel compelled to write a review. The Bricco hotel is a unique property located on Hanover Street in the North End, a great location. My room was exactly like it appeared in the photograph; it was clean and well-appointed. In addition, I had two very good meals in the restaurant. Having grown up in a family-owned Italian restaurant in New York, I can say that the food was authentic, the wine list was extensive, and the service was great. The staff at both the hotel and the restaurant were friendly and helpful. I especially want to shout out to Paige Harding, the Administrative Coordinator, and Restaurant Manager, for all her help. It was my first time staying at the hotel, so I was confused that I had to register with Paige in the restaurant to get my room key. Unfortunately, it was late, and I didn't realize that I had left my cell phone in the back seat of the Uber car until I was checking in with Page at the restaurant. Paige let me use her cell phone to call my phone to alert the Uber driver that it was in the back seat. However, when the driver didn't answer, I remembered that the Uber driver was deaf, so she couldn't hear my phone ring. At this point, Paige saw my anxiety, so she went above and beyond to help me get my phone back. First, as I sat down for a late dinner, Paige went to the Uber website, sent an email, and followed the procedure (I didn't even know Uber had this option on their website) required to notify the driver of a forgotten item. Then, because I didn't have a cell phone, Paige left her cell number with Uber so my driver could text her when she got the message. By the time the driver sent Paige a text, the restaurant was closed for the night. In her text, the driver said that she would be in her car in front of the Bricco at 7 am the next day to give me my phone. Paige explained this in a text to my wife, who was in Portland. Paige didn't have to be at the restaurant until 9 am; however because she wasn't sure if I got the message from my wife, Paige met the driver at 7 am to make sure I got my phone back. Again, Paige went above and beyond, and I'm grateful for that. The Bricco is now where I'll be staying when I am in Boston. read more

My girlfriend and I landed from London last night and since she had an early flight this morning, we were looking to stay in the city. Looked, and everything was book. We had given up hope, and on our empty stomachs, decided to head to the North End to fill up. Thank god we did. Not only did we have a great meal, we also found out about Bricco Suites. Now, yes, we had just been on a plane for 8 hours, and a trains for 2 hours before that, so a rock with some tissue paper would have been nice, but this place is in a league of its own. Renovated within the last 5 months, this place has hard wood floors, granite counter tops, a mini fridge, fireplace, steam shower (available in only one room I think), a large and super comfy queen bed. Ok ok ok, yes, this place must be the same cost as staying at one of those 5 stars out of the way. You can't get all this and be on Hanover St, steps to the Garden, Green , Orange and Blue Lines and not be $800 a night... right? WRONG. This place is super reasonable. $250 for the suites, $200 for a studio. read more

The only drawback is the room we had, had an attached room, (locked) and when the neighbors came in at 1:00 am with kids, it was so loud, their talking sounded like they were in the room with you. Let me start by saying this should have been a 5-star rating. The suites are gorgeous and conveniently located in walking distance to anything you need in the North End. The entry to the suites is in what seems like a secret door between two buildings, very cute. My friends had a 2 bedroom suite, and I stayed in a 1 bedroom on a different floor. I can not say enough about how beautiful these rooms really are. Looks can be deceiving, however... one problem I did notice. I was wearing socks at one point in the apartment and just from walking from the bathroom to the bedroom my socks picked up A LOT of dust! Not only dust but a significant amount of hair. Hair that was definitely not mine. Pretty disgusting! It was obvious they had not cleaned the floors in a while. Ew! My complaints: When checking in and out you have to enter Bricco Restaurant to locate the host. This was not too much of a hassle because I had others with me, but you have to walk by crowds of people waiting to be seated. If you are carrying a lot of luggage this could get a little uncomfortable. However, the wait wasn't too long before the host checked us in and showed us up to our room. My main concern with this was that the phone in my 1 bedroom did not work! I noticed this when I wanted to call to ask how to work the sauna in the shower- which did not work and read an error code. This seems petty but in an emergency it would not be acceptable to have a dead phone line. Also, considering the host is located in the restaurant next door, it is not convenient to have to walk down flights of stairs (no elevators) in order to locate someone for help. There were numbers on a desk for room service, front desk, etc. but I am sure they all went to one place- the restaurant next door- which when this closed who are you calling? We would have liked to call room service to let them know the sauna option did not work, at least maybe they could fix it for the next clients. The host never gave us a wifi password either. I checked with my friends in the other room and they did receive one. Again, it would have been nice to be able to use the phone to call and ask for it. Also, we noticed there was something leftover in the refrigerator from the customers before us (wrapped in foil). We have no idea how long it had been there, obviously, but it made it awkward to then use the refrigerator with undated/unmarked items inside. Side note: They provide you with ice buckets, but there is no ice machine in the building. Or at least none that we could find. (Could not make quick call to ask -no phone) The next morning, check out was 11am. (Disclaimer: I did not put the "Do not disturb" sign on the door the night before.) Room Service knocked on the door at 8:00AM! Barely awake, I yelled "Hello?!" and the next thing you know they unlocked the door and tried to come in. Luckily, I DID put the chain lock on or else they would have been walking in on me laying in bed. Although I did not put the sign on the door, since when does Room Service show up that early?! Especially when normal check out is 11am. Sure enough, at 10:44am they were knocking again. At this point, even though we were almost on our way out, I told them we were not ready and put the "Do Not Disturb" sign out. Very annoying! The parking situation was not too bad. A little walk down a couple blocks, but close enough if you are not carrying too many things. Be aware that parking is not validated after 3 hours. The host had told us we should park in a certain lot because they would validate-however, I assume he thought we were going to the restaurant? I don't know anyone who checks in and out of a hotel within 3 hours. Parking for the night was only $32 but it would have been nice to know this ahead of time instead of thinking it would be validated! read more

We had an excellent Christmas at the Bricco suites. We stayed in a adorable cozy studio. It came equipped with all of the comforts of home(hair dryer, ironing board, shampoos/soaps). The bed was so comfortable we didn't want to wake up! The best part was smelling the aroma of the bakery next door. You can't find a better location to stay in the North End. An extra added bonus is that it is across the street from a CVS store. read more

Yes! This is the true Boston experience!! Sure, the lobby is technically the restaurant, and sure, there's some windy stairs. But the hotel itself had great customer service, and amazing rooms. I went with the one bedroom studio, and was totally blown away when we arrived in our room. It was huge! The bathroom was spacious, we had a nice big flat-panel television, a thermostat to control the very effective heater (it was probably 15 degrees at night), and the nice electric fireplace for looks. It also had a nice sink area, fridge, and sizable desk for me to work at. Bricco Suites is located in the heart of the old, Italian part of Boston.. Some of the greatest sites and food are there! Definitely returning next year. Oh, and did I mention? Free WiFi. read more

Ive spent a night here and 3 nights at a 4 star hotel. I would have loved to stayed at Briccos. My room was like a single bedroom apartment. Everything was clean and new including bathroom/shower. While visiting Boston last week-end and exploring the North End, an inviting looking sign for different types of Italian breads led us down a friendly, narrow short alley. The bread bakery smelled wonderful and as we stepped down into the shop, I saw a sign outside that simply said "Bricco Suites". I was intrigued and asked at the restaurant of the same name out on the front street of Hanover. Yes, these were studio style suites and yes, they had availability on this busy week-end, and yes, they would be able to show us one and...it was $100 less than anything else available on a Monday night! The décor and quality was top notch, REAL wine glasses, china plates, heavy weight silverware, cloth napkins and cork screw were available on the granite topped counter over a glass front half refrigerator. The towels were as thick and absorbing as good be and the terry lined robe made me feel great. Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries were a nice touch. The only thing that was missing for me was a coffee maker in the room for when I wake up and nothing is available outside until 7am. read more

I made last minute plans to visit Boston and Bricco Suites was in the area I hoped to stay. The rates were competitive with any of the surrounding hotels, but there is no way the others could have competed with what Bricco Suites offered. Everything about the stay was incredible. From the moment I was greeted at my car by Patrick, the super clean room, and the close proximity to surrounding attractions and food choices.
