Yoooo!! Came out to visit some family in Dallas for my first time and stopped in to this joint 3 days after opening to start out some nightlife Dallas fun and boy was I pleased. My buddy from San Diego told me about the place and the referral was awesome. Met Cliff and Dre' and they hooked it up and it felt like home in San Diego in North Park. Great little dive bar, good music, space and vibe, but the chicken?!...OMG!! The chicken bro! Amazing!!! I saw it on the menu 10 piece for 25 bucks and I thought, hmmm maybe a lil pricey, but then they came out and I was like daaaaammmnn!! I thought I was getting some wingettes or something, TRUST...everything is bigger in Texas. The crunch on top of the juiciness of this chicken was one the best fried chicken I've ever had...and i'm putting that over my mom's fried chicken. Boy! chicken so good make you wanna slap yo mama!!, or Cliff, or Dre', or whoever is closest ;-). Bottom line I dig it and so should you. Just arrived in DFW for the first time in 15+ years. Per Yelps help, we headed to Deep Ellum to try this bar. BEST dinner I have had in a long time and by far the most amazing chicken and waffle I've ever had. Also had the habanero bacon mac and cheese which was delicious. Been here a few times and overall, the experience wasn't bad. Just left this place 5 minutes ago. Spent a good hour and 20 minutes in there and 50 of it was waiting on food. Definitely wasn't busy enough for that kind of wait. If there was an issue in the kitchen, our server never let us know about it, so we just sat there and waited while a (incomplete) large party who got there AFTER us got served drinks and food first. One of our drinks sat on the bar for 10 minutes before we got it. My sister and I are both servers and we know what it looks like to be busy, and neither of us could imagine serving a large, incomplete party of regulars before a party or three who had been waiting a long time. To top it off, we waited a while longer to get change after the check. I was owed 60 bucks and my sister was owed 10. Green haired server never bothered to bring my sister her change back. Ate at Brick and Bones while visiting Dallas last week and it was great! Awesome vibes in a very trendy area (Deep Ellum). My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and had chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy and the naked chicken, all of which were great. Probably even better than the food was the staff. We got to speak to Dre, who was our bartender and part owner of the restaurant. There are four owners that all have the same matching "Brick & Bones" tattoo. Went to Brick and Bones last nite for a drink after our dinner at Filament. We had a decent dinner and wanted to enjoy Deep Ellum a bit more before going home. From the moment we walked in we were treated as if we did not belong. I will say my appearance is a bit different then the people there, I don't have tattoos, and I am over the age of 40. So I guess we did not fit in with the crowd or the staff. I ordered a drink and asked for 3 limes. Typically when you ask for a lime they are tiny cuts so when the bartender delivered the drink with literally 3/4 of a lime I was surprised. He handed us our drinks and told us this was the only drink he would serve us and when we were finished we could leave. The bartender was RUDE and I plan to return there as much as possible, just to rub it in. read more

Met some friends here for a few beers and a bite to eat. I had never even heard of the place so had no preconceived notions going in. First impression is that it's kinda divey, with that musty, dark feel that a lot of deep ellum bars have. We joined a table that was already seated and were quickly brought waters and menus by a super friendly, cheerful waitress... I think her name was Carolina. Good selection of beers, all reasonably priced. Some friends got mixed drinks but I didn't taste them so I can't speak to that. We ordered some chicken tenders, the chicken chicharrones, and the jalapeno mac n cheese. The tenders were OUT OF THIS WORLD. Like what every other chicken tender aspires to be. The batter was very light and airy, with a great crunch. The chicken was soooo tender. And they served it with a spicy mayo-like sauce. Just so good! The chicharrones were awesome, too. Very crispy and full of flavor with an herb-type salsa. The mac n cheese was surprisingly good as well. I rarely expect much from mac n cheese since it seems everyone does it and yet there are few exceptional dishes. This one was great; it had a nice kick of heat that didn't overpower the flavor. And it wasn't too cheesy. We shared our bites among four people and were pleased with the portions. Carolina was an awesome server; so attentive and just had a great attitude. Very cheerful and bubbly, she made us all feel so welcome. And when we were done and needed to split the check among all the couples, she was totally cool with it and didn't act all put out. Bottom line - I will be back for those amazing chicken tenders, and to try some more things on the menu! read more

When approaching this bar like many bars in Deep Ellum it is nice, clean but modest. Upon entering the bar you are washed in an interesting atmosphere "makes you feel like you may be in a bar somewhere in Mexico in the 1970s" not unlike a Quinton Tarantino movie. I like this because no matter where I've been throughout the day or night no matter how I'm dressed it is appropriate for this laid-back environment. No matter how busy they are it is only seconds after entering the door that the bar staff greets you extremely warmly. Behind the bar is a bunch of old school decorations and random roosters which add to the unique atmosphere. The lighting is low almost like if you were in a Mexican Speakeasy from a different time. They have a very good selection of bottle and can beer showing lots of support to the local breweries. The drink menu was my first real surprise it is a rotating seasonal menu but come to find out this is a craft cocktail bar and everything is named after old school cartoons. These drinks are not priced as high as the majority of these craft cocktail bars that have sprouted up and the most Pleasant thing is there is absolutely no elitist attitude about the craft cocktails that this staff makes which are definitely some of the best in Dallas. The food menu quality and uniqueness is equal to the bar menu and just like the bar menu the food is served to the end of the night. The menu changes quite a bit but Fried Chicken is always on it which is hands down some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. They have very unique desserts that change out quite often don't miss out on those either. I usually wait a while before writing a review at a new spot that I go to. I want many experiences before I pass judgment it seems only fair. The majority of the time I go to this bar the bar manager "I do not know if his name is Dre or Ricardo" but he is extremely friendly, attentive and the most professional bartender I've ever had service from. His attitude emulates from him and all the staff under him from the first time I've gone in to the very last time I've been. the only person that is perhaps more welcoming than him is the extremely laid-back owner named Cliff he just hangs out and is so modest he doesn't even tell people that it's his bar. Ever so often throughout the night a very interesting and friendly man will just appear. He is the head chef who was responsible for creating the menu. All of the higher-ups in the staff come out talk to you sit down if possible and get to know you. This place is incredibly friendly and laid-back the entire atmosphere from what's on the walls, in the food, the drinks and the people that work there is exactly the experience that you want. No judgement when you order a Jack on the rocks or a handcrafted whiskey smash. This bar clearly appreciates its customers whether you are a newcomer to the bar or one of the Beloved regulars. "that have actual name plates at the bar" most of whom you can meet when you come in "they all seem to be friendly like the staff". There is one plaque nearest to the door on the bar that stands out more than the others I don't know who "Tre Beck" is but from the looks of his ornate plaque he is a man of high regard and respect. Get used to coming to this bar it will be around a very long time with its unique atmosphere and high-quality service and products this is a staple in Dallas. read more

I have to say that this place is truly an overall well rounded place to enjoy a good, quality meal. A group of friends and I stumbled here after a Ranger's game(where the guy got punched) and were greeted by multiple hello's and welcomes. We were seated and had our drink orders taken quickly. Our server was polite, knowledgeable and most important to me, she was prompt. We ordered the fried chicken and a variety of sides and everything was wonderful.
