I have been to brick and potter once before and I had an amazing experience with services, food etc but I was sadly disappointed when I decided to return for a second time. I had the chicken bacon jammer the first time I can and got it the second time as well. The guests I brought with me also decided to get the sandwich because I raved about, unfortunately the chicken was over done and my guests and I were not able to enjoy our sandwiches. Hubs and I took our 2 college kids and ones boyfriend here for dinner. Reviews were anywhere from 4-5 stars. Service was really good, setting and ambience was great. Son had a steak, which he said was good - but it came out MR rather than rare as he asked for. Hubs had a lobster roll, which he said was good - but definitely not the best he's ever had. Our daughter said her burger was delicious - no complaints... and her boyfriend said his Reuben was 4.9 stars. The overall was a 4, but we would have 4.5 stars if there were a way. Today I got a vegan club with coleslaw, $11 before tax and tip. What I was expecting was a full sandwich, like Jimmy John's but better because this is a restaurant and almost twice the price. What I got was two pieces of approximately 6" plain Naan bread with a thin coat of hummus, a handful of lettuce, a couple tomato slices, and a bit of cucumber. For $11. Jimmy John's will give you an 8" full sub, with unlimited veggies (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, jalepeno), cheese, mayo, avocado, and seasonings for $9. Within walking distance of the arena. We decided to give it a try. A cool little place. Wait staff was very good and attentive. Lauren was our server. She was on top of it. Drinks came quick. We started with the pretzel, chips, and bar cheese. Wish it came with a couple more pretzels and less chips, but the taste was excellent. Pretzels were nice and soft. My wife got the fish and chips and I got the 3 B's burger. My wife said that the fish was awesome. The coke slaw was a little bland and we both agreed that the fries were really good. I was a little disappointed in my burger. I ordered it well done and it was a tad but pink on the inside. Even though it wasn't quite well done, it was crumbling apart. Got my burger and a piece of it was off the burger and laying on the side of basket. I will say that it was still a good burger and I did eat as much as I could stuff in my belly. Overall, a solid 4 stars and I would definitely go back. Which might take awhile since I only eat downtown when we go to an event. I hate parking down there, so I try new places every time we go. This was my first time here and had a great time, the burgers were delicious, and there was a great beer and cocktail selection. I really appreciate how much outdoor space there is especially during the shoulder seasons we have in Michigan. Our server was very helpful and pleasant as well! I would definitely recommend the nachos to anyone thinking about swinging by. Being downtown there can be quite a bit of noise sitting outside by the street however, that is no fault of the restaurant. Additionally, I would imagine a place like that is quite busy on weekend evenings, but if you ask me that's only a good sign of how good the food is. read more

Great food/drink specials and excellent service! Went in during the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday. The server was really attentive and on the ball- the draft beer list featured a lot of Michigan local brews, so I easily found something to try. My wife was debating over the cocktail menu and another server overheard her lamenting about something not super sweet and suggested the orange and basil. She went with that and it was excellent- basically a Moscow Mule with muddled orange and fresh basil to replace the lime; very refreshing and excellent for summertime. We ordered the fried pickle appetizer and it was no joke- 10 dill pickle spears, breaded and fried with creamy dipping sauces. Fried pickles can be hit or miss, but these were a hit. For entrees, she went with the grilled chicken pesto sandwich and it was perfect for a hot summer afternoon. For a side, she chose the French Onion soup. I stole it from her and ate the last half and we agreed it was one of the best French Onion soups we've had. I went with the Classic burger with cheddar cheese. Really simple, but an easy way to get a good feel for a place. The burger was cooked exactly to my spec, and the veggies were super fresh, all served on a nice brioche bun. The fries were a surprise as well, the battered fries were cooked perfectly and crispy on the outside and light on the inside. She ended up with half of them as part of the French Onion Soup trade mentioned earlier. Overall, a great find with quality food done well. I have no idea how this place has four stars. I went here with my wife last week while in Grand Rapids on a work trip. When we walked inside we were greeted and there was no wait. We asked to be seated inside. The lady walks us over to a low table and my wife asks to be seated at a higher table right next to the table that she wanted us to sit at. The lady got upset at our request and rolled her eyes. Then our server came out and took our drink order, which took 10 minutes to get. Then another 15 minutes for her to take our order. Our food came and it just was not good at all. The burger was over cooked, and extremely dry, the fries were cold. The only thing good that I tried was the seasoning that goes on the fries. We then didn't see our server for at least 30 minutes. We had already finished eating and were waiting for the check so that we could leave. We had to stand up and look around for our server and she was no where to be found. We just decided to ask a different server for our check as we were tired of waiting around. She brings us our check and I give her my card immediately. She comes back and as we are getting ready to leave our actual server re-appears. Again, I have no idea how this place is this highly rated with the quality of food being terrible along with the staff. Sorry but I will never recommend this place to anyone visiting Grand Rapids. read more

And an old-fashioned, which was so well made that I promptly switched to rose' - generously poured glasses of rose'. Did I mention I was there on a Thursday, when they had all day happy hour? So I really like this place for "burger Thursday". You get $5 off any burger and they also have drink specials. The best burger in my opinion is the Pat LaFrieda burger. Grilled onions, aioli, smoked Gouda, sooooo good! I love the fries as well. They have a decent sangria (red is the best) and of course a good beer list of local brews. They have a little outdoor patio too for the summer which I will wait for as Michigan summers are short.
