I love Avondale and the Brick Restaurant is one of my favorite stops when I visit the shops. First, the atmosphere is casual and friendly, they have outdoor seating and occasionally, there's live music. I've never had poor service here as all of the servers have been friendly and accommodating. As a former MeetUp host, I'd work with restaurant managers to organize our weekly dinners. The manager of the Brick was amazing when working with our large group. Finally, the food is delicious.......!!! I'm always impressed when restaurants serve food made in house, including the salad dressings and the Brick does not disappoint! I actually crave their food if I haven't visited for awhile! Service was friendly and courteous, but receiving our orders was very slow. Not sure if it was due to being short handed in the kitchen? Noticed that no one was receiving their food very quickly, and the place wasn't that busy as there were many open tables. I ordered the grilled mahi-mahi fish tacos with a side of kale. The tacos were ok, but nothing to write home about. Their presentation was pretty poor. The kale was good. I should have looked at the food photos on Yelp before ordering as I probably would have tried something else. But check them out and decide for yourself. I'd give them another try. read more

I came into Brick at 3:00pm on a Sunday. They had No Happy Hour, and no seats are the bar. It was $7.50 for a glass of beer. The staff was attentive and thru had a gold tournament in the bar TV. It's an average American restaurant with an everything menu: burgers, tacos, rice bowls etc. Prices were a bit high. They had no wifi and the staff were complaining about a customer. I loved the kale salad with salmon and I do not eat kale ever. This is the first kale salad I loved and actually devoured. The dressing was a perfect accent to the kale. Yes!!! I'm back to my old stomping ground and it's back to being consistent in food quality, service, seating, and cleanliness. Sat at the table by the front window yesterday. Perfect. You get the feel for the outside but the a.c... you need during hot days. Still my faves: Warm Turkey Sand. with a side. Try all the sides. They are all good. (Kale salad, fries, sweet pot. fries, baked potato and more. Then we had lots of salads. All were delicious. We had a big group. Great customer service - our server checked in regularly and was so welcoming & pleasant. Recommend the Spinach & Goat Cheese Benedict which is perfect if you're in the mood for something savory. On a sweeter note, the Crème Brûlée French Toast was a delicious option too. My friend ordered it and polished it all off (I sampled it too! So yummy!) Food and ambience are nice and most of the wait staff is exceptional. But they have this one, very intense fast-walking guy - reminds me of Ben Stiller when he played Rachel's angry boyfriend. SMH. Love the Brick! It's my and my fiancé's favorite local restaurant. I have him to thank for introducing me to it, in all my time dining in Avondale I actually never went here. But he's been going for years and I'm so thankful he brought me! The restaurant has a cozy, loft-like feel to it, almost like something out of a late 90's sitcom. The lighting is warm and inviting. There are plenty of tables, booths, a bar and even outdoor seating. We almost never have trouble getting a table, even during busy times like Luminaria. The food is pretty classic American bistro fare. The burger is seriously the best in town. I'm also a big fan of the poke bowl with salmon. The French onion soup is delicious too. I wish they had slightly more gluten-free offerings (please please get a GF hamburger bun!!) but there are at least options. Drinks are great, they have a nice selection of beers, wines and house cocktails. I had a spicy margarita one time that blew me away! They change seasonally too which is always nice. read more

At least by the dinner. I will say everyone has raved about Brunch, so I'll have to come back and try it. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, but it was bland and a bit overcooked. My friend ordered the steak and it was okay, nothing spectacular. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and that was actually great! I'd order that again. Avondale is such a wonderful patio destination for eating and bringing your furrie friend. Freedom and I came here Friday night and were politely welcomed on their outside area. Two young ladies with their dog were sat just prior to us. Within moments, the hostess brought out two stainless bowls of water for each dog. Talk about caring and being welcoming! My server was so nice and I apologize for not getting her name. I ordered a Woodford Reserve Old Fashion that was amazingly made. I started with Ahi Tuna on crackers (daggone I forgot to get a pice). It was delicious. Large pieces of ahi on large triangle crackers with a neat Asian sauce lightly drizzled on it. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. It would be a great sharing appetizer. I then had the Wagyu Burger with broccoli. The broccoli was really nice and fresh. The Wagyu Burger was fantastic. Cooked rare to order and simply dressed. A great burger without all the extras often added to a burger. All in all, a wonderful outdoor dinner with gracious service, dog friendly, and delightful food. Highly recommended. read more

The Ahi nachos had a lot of wasabi, which I loved, it was a lot though, and the portions of meat were a bit skimpy. I got the ribeye french dip and it was bomb! My wife loved the flavor, presentation and portion of her Tuna nacho salad. Perhaps the most surprising item was my baked potato, I got it with just butter and it was the best potato I have had in decades, it was light and fluffy and aromatic and so potatoey and fresh, all it had was salt and butter and I ate the whole thing, including the skin!! The ambiance was a bit loud for me and the price and value make this a 4 star for me, but we will be back and it was overall excellent. read more

The Brick = a classic Avondale restaurant. I've been going to the Brick for over a decade and it never fails. Largely underrated in my opinion that people glance over is the Warm Turkey Sandwich. The Caramelized onions paired with that turkey is just heaven. I always sub the kale salad as my side. I don't know what they do to their kale but it is just so delicious! Tossed with pine nuts and lemon. Best kale I've ever had lol. The salmon salad and crab cakes are also great choices! read more
