    Sweet Potato Cake

Tried their most raved about item, the sweet potato cake and it was good. Very moist and fluffy. The icing was cream cheese and tasted home made. The slices are HUGE!

Great customer service from Martin. Desserts were delicious as well as the accompanying hot Earl Grey Tea. Love the unique interior decor, very colorful and fun!! We enjoyed our afternoon tea here today. Very relaxing too.

Mom's spaghetti is my favorite. Comes with bread and side salad. House dressing is onion vinaigrette. I love it all. Cakes are bad either

This place is a Greenville STAPLE. True locals know! Shrimp and grits are good. But the true gem of this place is cakes: especially the sweet potato cake. You will never find a better one. Truly AMAZING. We bring it for holidays to my in-laws in Louisiana bc they crave it (and they're surrounded by good food).

German Chocolate Cake from Brick Street Cafe

I was looking for a German Chocolate Cake for my husband's birthday and dedicded to order from Brick Street since I love all their other cakes. They didn't dissapoint! Four yummy layers of chocolate cake (with chocolate chips in the batter) covered in the most delicious coconut icing. It was amazing! But about the coconut icing...you can taste that they roast their pecans first. Then instead of having a separate chocolate buttercream frosting, they added cocoa directly into the cocount mixture to make it rich and chocolatey. I could have eaten the icing by the spoonfuls alone! Added to the cake, it made for one decadent dessert that you'll be back to enjoy. I know I will!

Nothing better than their sweet potato cake. We get it for any special occasions or birthdays. We typically get it to go.

Website says pets welcome. They're not. Don't even have outside seating so I don't know why they say that.

Had a coconut cake for my sons birthday. Disappointed that there was no frosting between the layers, just some coconut. Cake was dry.

The old adage that "we first eat with our eyes" is on full display here; pictures cannot do it full justice. And the smells of the bakery and cafe add to the sensory experience. The bakery side infuses flavors in their treats with flavors wash technique (typically on unbaked products and based on egg and cream mixture) that ensures moist and tender cakes or pastries. One example, for the forthcoming Kentucky Derby they had a cake washed with mint and bourbon that included a mint layer of icing and a bourbon based layer of icing inside the cake to achieve a "mint julep" cake. Of several items we purchased, mostly the cake part is standard white cake with flavor added and very nicely decorated. If one were to judge just on taste, it's essentially a good white cake, the "wow" comes from the decoration and somewhat the flavors. Heavy on the icing. But that is the decadence many want, and it looks great. I had the key lime pound cake and it was good, but a lighter example compared to Granny's (my Granny), so that's an unfair comparison, but it was lighter than anticipated and Granny's isn't the only pound cake I've had. The key lime was more subtle than the visual and mostly came from the glaze. The visual was so good, I asked if we could buy by the slice and the staff agreed to slice up a full cake for my slice and since they were getting low on pre-sliced available pound cake options. My wife loved it all! They do have take and bake casseroles and the cafe side has great sandwiches, an admirable Reuben if I remember. We must come here more often as it is very good and convenient and Granny took here recipe to the grave years ago, (RIP).

No bagels! However, a whole variety of different breads are available. The sweet treats are an absolute Picture. They have decorated whole cakes, pastries, muffins, cookies, cupcakes, and so much more. Everything is baked in house and you can see the pastry chefs in the background doing their work. The bakery is large with lots of space to sit down in the eat. They have indoor seating, they have patio seating that is enclosed, and then they have outdoor patio seating. Very comfortable. Parking is very easy with a large lot in front. They have beautiful cakes you can order on site, and they have lovely gift items; honey, truffles, kitchen items and more and more. What a delightful treat to be here!

I know you're thinking, "there's no way that tasted good" but it did! My sis has lots of food sensitivities that cause her auto-immune eczema to break out so we avoid all those allergens. My sister LOVED this cake! I wanted a special cake for her 30th since she hasn't eaten cake in 5 years! Christine from Baking Sweet Scents was up to the challenge and spent time with me listing ingredients so we were completely sure it was safe. I really appreciated the time and effort. Christine also deals with some allergens so she understands the difficulties. I selected the chocolate almond flour cake, double layered, semi-naked, with stevia instead of sugar, and macarons on top to be nestled into the specific flowers I wanted, gladiolus for August birthday month. The cost for this custom cake with all the specific ingredients was so reasonable. I will be ordering another smaller one for my grandmother's 80th who also avoids sugar and gluten. I see this trend becoming popular, thanks Christine!
