Friendly service, consistent food quality and the best sweet potato cake in the land! There is ample parking although the parking tends to get busy during peak lunch hours. There are two flights of stairs to get to the entrance door and I did not see an elevator. The inside is neatly decorated and they had live music when we went which was a nice touch during lunch. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but their soup and open face grilled cheese hit the spot on a colder day. Make sure to try one of their famous cakes- I recommend sweet potato! I saw this place from an IG influencer and had to try it. I actually have not been able to stop thinking about it since I saw her post. Ordered their chicken salad melt with pasta salad, the sweet potato cake and chocolate bundt cake. So the chicken salad sandwich was not great. So mediocre and at 14.00 really could have been better. They were not kidding when they said "a scoup of salad" It's a tiny amount of chicken salad and the crossiant is more like a roll. Not a flakey buttery crossiant like you would expect. They placed the sandwich right on top of the pasta salad instead of placing in a seperate container (which was weird). The Sweet potato cake was So over-hyped. It was just okay. Super moist yes, but nothing else could be said about it. The chocolate bundt cake I don't recommend at all. Overall, kinda disappointed. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, maybe it was an off day? I was looking for a German Chocolate Cake for my husband's birthday and dedicded to order from Brick Street since I love all their other cakes. They didn't dissapoint! Four yummy layers of chocolate cake (with chocolate chips in the batter) covered in the most delicious coconut icing. It was amazing! But about the coconut icing...you can taste that they roast their pecans first. Then instead of having a separate chocolate buttercream frosting, they added cocoa directly into the cocount mixture to make it rich and chocolatey. Love the famous sweet potato cake! Great texture, not dry at all, icing perfectly balanced. Chocolate peanut butter was also a win! Great flavor balance, so moist, and icing not super sweet. Mini chocolate chips added delightful texture! Both cakes even better tasting at room temperature. My friend and I shared the slices and leftovers were so great, the cold refrigerator is required for food but it can sometimes inhibit flavors. This is THE cutest place ever! I went in for a friend who wanted me to bring him back a couple of slices of their Sweet Potato Cake. I was greeted immediately when I walked in by a server. I let him know I just wanted to order a cake and he directed me to the counter stating, Kelly will take care of you, and boy did she. I'd never tried the cake before so she offered me and my mom a sample without hesitation. We are in LOVE! This is one of the most delicious cakes I've ever tasted in my life. I'd hoped to get a small cake, but only medium was available (you have to pre-order the small). However, the slices are $8/ea (and friggin worth it)! I was only getting 3 slices, but then my mom decided she wanted some, so I just bought the medium cake. It was $41 but def the cheaper option bc I have to share it with friends. I definitely want to come back for brunch next time I'm at home. The ambiance is super cute and artsy. Parking is mostly in the back--note, there are stairs in the back so if you have issues or need handicap access, you'll want to get dropped off on the front. All of the staff were super friendly. I used to really enjoy this place. But that was years ago, and I don't know what happened. Did the owner sell, or stop caring? I got the fruit plate, which normally had a delicious chicken salad. This plate was a mess, with a strawberry that had gone bad and bland chicken salad that was obviously a different recipe from the one I remember. I also ordered the slaw; it seemed to be lifeless and less than fresh. The two women with me ordered desserts. Both took them home after a couple of bites, and neither finished them. We attended a private dinner party here with a larger group of about 25 people and I was very pleased with the atmosphere, service, food, and drinks! Our group was seated in the front area of the restaurant alongside one of the streetview windows. Although it was not an enclosed private room, it was perfect to feel as though we had our own space while also experiencing the liveliness of the main dining area and live musicians. The downstairs of the restaurant had a separate private function going on and there was another large group dinner taking place adjacent to ours. The waitstaff and kitchen were able to accommodate everyone, as well as their walk in diners and reservations, with ease and excellence. We were presented a limited menu to choose our entree from but all of the options were appealing and the plates that were served were plentiful. Beef tenderloin, crab cakes, stuffed chicken and a vegetarian lasagna offered a good variety for everyone to pick something they would like. Choosing dinner was easier than dessert because all of the cakes on display looked absolutely delectable and it was hard to pick just one. My date and I got one slice each of the sweet potato cake and chocolate cake. Both were very generous portions and each the best in their own way! Well! We returned and it's even better. I had the daily special which was a delicious wrap that added ham and bacon to their basic veggie wrap ( artichoke slices, cukes, red onion and more). But then they got just plain EVIL!! They sent some guy through the restaurant with a megaphone shouting about their cakes. Oh but they couldn't let that do. Nope! They sent servers through with WHOLE CAKES to taunt us. WHOLE CAKES with their tempting icings and garnishes, waving them right under our noses. Just evil and cruel. And it worked. We ordered a slice of the highly touted Sweet Potato CAKE. Slap me silly! Melt in your mouth, decadent cream cheese frosting; large enough for the two of us to share and still have a dabble left over to take home and share with Mr. Particular. He LOVED it. It has been a while since I have eaten here, but this is definitely an establishment oriented towards the feminine side. Plus it has this thing for desserts. And that is why I am here. Dessert. My wife was helping with a women's conference at our church. They were having a meal and afterwards, for dessert, they were planning cookies. "Cookies are NOT dessert," she says. What we NEED are some sweet potato cakes from Brick Street. So to help out in the planning frenzy, I went to pick them up. This is not an ordinary cake nor an ordinary bakery. You have to make a reservation in advance for the cakes or you can take what they have made for stock and serving in the restaurant. The cakes come in small, medium and large. I was told to get two mediums (or something like that) and they were out and I had no reservation, man! So, I got two large sweet potato cakes. They were $45 apiece. Each. Each one of them was $45. Holy Smokes this had better be good. Since I was not invited to attend the women's conference, I had to experience this cake later and it is a very rich, very good cake. But then I googled it up and found an exact recipe that will cost a lot less next time. Bottom line - this is a popular restaurant that stays pretty busy through the day with people coming in for not just the food, but to sit and visit without being rushed out of the restaurant.
