This place is solid. I had the kale Caesar salad and added avocado and chicken. The salad dressing was very nice and it was served with a really warm pita bread. I enjoyed the house ice tea which is a tropical black tea. Refills are free. Free Wi-Fi and very casual atmosphere. I met some girlfriends here for lunch and it was a good spot to get together and chat. My friend ordered the eggplant Parmesan pizza and it was light and fresh...probably something I'll order the next time I go. read more

First time here. We just had the Margherita pizza and Redlands Bowl salad. Pizza was delicious! The salad was great and loved the dressing. Staff was nice and friendly. We were there for about 45 minutes and no one ever came out to bus/clean the tables...that would be the only complaint but overall food was great and would be back! I just found my new favorite coffee shop in Redlands. The espresso is rich and full-bodied, and the mocha is not overly sweet--just how I like it. They offer soy and almond milk for those who don't want traditional cows' milk. The scones and other pastries are delicious, too! They currently have one gluten-free pastry and I would love it if they added more. I haven't tried the pizza yet--I will once they offer a gluten-free crust. read more

By far the best pizza within 20 miles of Redlands! The crust is fantastic, the toppings are inspired, and the wood fired oven gives the pizza a delicious, lightly smoky flavor. The cold brew coffee is terrific, especially served "nitro" style. It's tastes like an alcohol free Guiness stout. The salads are very good as well. Try the meat lover's pizza with the kale Caesar salad and a pair of nitro cold brew coffees. The portions are generous, so it's a perfect meal for two for less than 30 bucks. I order my pizza with the crust pulled extra thin and cooked extra crispy. The best pizza I've had since I moved here from Boston. read more

This is one of my favorite places to pick up dinner on the way to the Redlands Bowl. Their pizzas are unique and it is hard to choose between the potato or the mushroom--so much so my husband once asked for a half and half. I also love their kale caesar salad-it is probably the best caesar salad I have ever had. Just a great place to grab food and relax because it is not a heavy meal and has a more natural menu than many places. Definitely stop here if you can. read more

Cute little spot great for studying. I think this is one of the few places that I deem make the best chai lattes. Perfect balance of flavor, not too spicy not too milky. I would, however, recommending blending the drink a little more. The only down side is that it can get quite crowded and the internet is very slow. read more

This is a really great spot with a chill vibe. Their brick oven pizza is amazing and they have really cool and inventive flavors like the elote pizza and the Thai pie. The pastries are fresh and unique. I love almost every cheesecake flavor I've tried there. There are also many vegan and vegetarian options available here which is a huge plus. read more

Piss poor attitude, over priced. Came to brick and Burch for the first time definitely won't go back. Decided to give it a shot, even after everyone telling me its expensive for the size of pizza you get. I ordered a pizza called a swineapple (your basic Hawaiian pizza). Slightly bigger than a personal pizza definitely not the size of a medium, and an iced tea. Total, $18.73. Kinda pricey, but ok. Pizza comes 20 minutes later it's lukewarm at best like it's been sitting for 5-10 minutes before serving. I don't say anything about the pizza being cold just because I'm hungry and anxious to eat. I go back to the counter to ask for a side of ranch and there's an older guy behind the counter taking inventory (I can only assume he's the owner) I ask for the ranch, he looks at me and just says "50 cents". Not expecting a warm welcome or anything like you would normally hear from an owner who's glad you're spending money in their establishment. But OK. I only have my debit card on me and ask him if its OK to just run it on my card. He just looks and me and says NO. Offering no explanation why and walks away with me still standing at the counter. You would think that if someone just spent nearly $20 in your business, they might get I don't know, hot pizza, or a side of ranch? Or maybe not get a dismissive attitude from the owner himself?? I've been to many coffee shops, usually to study and never have I been FORCED to buy something to stay. As I was studying I was told that I needed to buy something to stay. The employee was rude, he did not even ask how I was doing, he just asked if I was going to purchase something and if not I had to leave. I'm really liking this place. I mostly frequent it in the mornings, but have been by a few times for lunch. I was a regular of the previous coffee shop in the same location. I think Bricks & Birch officially topped "Augie's" as my favorite morning place to get coffee in downtown Redlands (nothing against Augie's.) It's located in the historic Fox Theater building where Cafe Royal/Cafe Linnè used to be. They have a wonderful selection of morning pastries, cookies, and cupcakes. My favorites are the savory scones with bacon, cheese, and chives, the banana bread, and the apple cinnamon rolls. But every day they have something new to tempt me with. They even have gluten free options. Their coffee is flavorful without tasting burnt or bitter and they have a wide variety from drip coffee, cold brew (from a keg??), and espresso drinks. Their tea seems high quality too - loose leaf varieties that are very fragrant. I usually enjoy a latte with almond milk, drip coffee, or with lunch, a cold brew with nitro. The cold brew with nitro is so creamy tasting for coffee, and almost tastes like your drinking a coffee stout (only without the alcohol of course). Lunch has great pizza options too, from an old fashioned looking stone pizza oven. I would say that it's an artesian style pizza. Some of them are typical (pepperoni) and others are more "gourmet". The staff is very friendly as well. There is one gentleman who works there in the morning that is great at remembering the names of regulars. It's nice to walk in and be greeted by name by someone who remembers you. There's another young lady who works there in the mornings that is also very personable and gets bonus points for making a joke from Star Trek TNG when we ordered an Earl Grey tea. I tried this place out after seeing a friend check in on FB. I had no idea what to expect and was very impressed. The food was delicious and service was friendly and efficient. My mom and I shared the kale Caesar salad, mushroom/Brie pizza, cold brew coffee and several pastries. The only reason why this place didn't get 5 stars was because after we had ordered, the girl that took our order informed us that they had run out of kale for the kale Caesar salad. It was only 11:45 am too! We chose arugula and romaine as a substitution, however would have liked to try out the Caesar as it was supposed to be made. Also, there was some banana bread labeled 'Danish' banana bread. I asked what made it Danish and the girl could not tell us. Being a Danish citizen myself and knowing the country quite well-it was a little odd to me to just label something to make it sound exotic but not know what exactly makes it what it is. Overall I definitely enjoyed my initial experience here and will go back as well as recommend to friends! read more

I don't get it. This place caters to all types of people. Why would you play really obnoxious music, loud? Some low key or mainstream music would be nice. One of the guys that works here - he seems like a manager or something - talks really loud, not just when he's calling out an order, but when someone he knows comes in, he's yelling at them from 12 feet away. How about you approach the people and talk at a normal decibel level? He seems very nice and friendly, he just needs to use his inside voice. I ordered a cup of tea, and they brought me just that, with a tea bag holding enough tea for a pot. Then I have no saucer to rest the bag on after steeping. If I left that tea bag in the cup, it would be undrinkable. It would be nice to have a cup and saucer, and a tea bag with just a teaspoon of tea in it. Or if you want to give customers a tea bag that size, then give them a pot. The food and drinks are very good, but man is it loud. read more

What a unique combo... Near perfect brick oven pizza and Stumptown coffee... Some of the best brew around. Decor was hip and clean but still remained warm and inviting. Pizza oven is operated by a medical doctor and I couldn't help but taste his surgical attention to detail in every bite. While the booze hound in me was whimpering to find that Bricks and Birch has no liquor license, my tail was immediately wagging when I took a sip of the Stumptown Nitro Cold Brew. Hands down one of the best cold cups of coffee I've ever had. Odd to admit, I didn't miss the booze... Scary actually... Guess that's a testament to the food and coffee. Maybe I liked the original atmosphere that the caffeine and pizza dough created. Definitely helps the digestive process. However a glass of Pinot with my pizza couldn't hurt. I had the butternut ricotta pizza while my friend had the Ron Swanson Aka Meat Lovers. Both were spot on. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. Ingredients fresh and creative. The dough and perfectly baked crust a thing of beauty. While the dough does not have that super authentic Italian yeast taste it still holds its own through execution leading me to believe every ingredient is deliberate. Very expensive for a college town, Hey Its not Venice beach ! Pizzas were small for $15.00 and the interior is quaint but pretty amateur. Best part was the cold brew on tap. They really should have better beers and a better menu. The sun inhibits any afternoon dining on the sidewalk. It would be better if they invested in umbrellas. I'm in love with the Starch de Triomphe and the butternut ricotta pizzas. I've had them both a couple of times. I haven't tried all their pastries - there are too many types and they change frequently, but the ones I've had are delicious! Phil bars are amazing, for example. I haven't tried the coffees, because I don't do coffee. The decor is fun, the atmosphere conducive to hanging out alone or in a group. And the workers are friendly and helpful. Came here and ordered a pizza, a chai latte and a cookie, I payed about $23.(which is not bad considering the pizza was for about 2 people) I went here to do some homework and work, it was quiet and was able to finish. There is plenty of inside and outside sitting and customer service is great. The only thing was that they gave me my latte in a tea cup that did not hold the entire drink and was spilling as I carefully made my way back to my table. If you're seeking a unique experience of food, coffee, and teas, you were probably suggested to Yelp Bricks & Birch. I myself have grown to admire their attention to detail all while maintaining a quality to their beverages that I find second to none. So then, why the 4 stars? My only gripe with Bricks & Birch is not a resultant of a singular experience, but spotty WiFi. I am someone who has found the establishment to be a place to zone out and get work done while enjoying a quality cup of whatever I am feeling at the moment.. however, I am also someone that requires a stable internet connection to stream lectures, respond to e-mails, and work through an online ebook. It is unfortunate that I can only frequent this place once I finish my online work at home or happen to be out having missed my daily coffee or tea. Aside from the aforementioned gripe, my drink of preference, a cold brew, surprised me the first time I dropped in out of curiosity. If you're an avid coffee drinker, their attention to flavor is worth noting. If you just want a strong kick, their coffee will have what you're looking for. I tend to not order sweet drinks, but Bricks has me ordering their vanilla latte periodically. Bricks' vanilla latte was frothy and semi-sweet which I am told is due to their lattes being pulled as doubles. The latte has the right amount of that espresso taste with pinch of sweetness. read more
