I stopped by The Chocolate Bar in the Albertsons shopping center in Highland to grab a coffee, but since I needed something to eat as well, I decided to try a few items. First off, the ambience is great. The café is decorated with cute French-themed touches, and it has a cozy, inviting vibe. The employees were also friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. For food, I ordered a turkey sandwich. It was good overall--more of a torta-style sandwich with flavorful ingredients, served on toasted white bread. No complaints there. Unfortunately, the coffee was a letdown. I ordered the horchata latte, but it tasted like low-quality coffee. I didn't really get any horchata flavor--more like a watered-down vanilla/cinnamon latte. For dessert, I tried the key lime tart. It wasn't very sweet, and the crust was extremely dry. Considering it was almost $10 for a fairly small tart, it didn't feel worth the price. Speaking of price, the overall cost felt overpriced for what you get. I paid around $30 for a sandwich, coffee, and tart, which felt steep given the quality of the items I tried. Service timing was another issue. A group came in after me, and my order wasn't started until after they took everyone else's order. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but I was in a bit of a hurry, and it ended up holding me up longer than expected. That said, it does seem like crepes are their main specialty, and judging by other reviews, those might be worth trying. If you're going specifically for crepes, it may still be worth a visit. However, based on my experience with the sandwich, coffee, and dessert, I personally wouldn't return. I genuinely wish them the best as a small business--it just wasn't for me. read more

I have been meaning to check out this place. It did not disappoint. From the moment you walk into this quant Coffee and Dessert bar, you are greeted with a glass display of treats. I asked the worker what they recommended. I ordered a Strawberry Cheesecake Crepe and Horchata Iced coffee. Did not disappoint!!! Yum. The crepe was very filling and could have been split The coffee isn't too sweet and i was able to change the milk. The easy listening music really added to the atmosphere. As for as ambiance I feel like all the decorations clashes together, making me unsure of the theme, thus making the place look messy in my opinion. Theres a nice screen where you can check out their menu offerings before placing an order at the register. I opted for the seasonal offering: pumpkin spiced latte. It was nice as they brought out my coffee for me while I was waiting at a table. The coffee was decent as I felt there were too much flavor profiles going on. There was a hint of something else that I quite can't put my finger on. It was also thick and syrupy--a texture I do not like. I also tried my friend's coffees and wasn't a fan as well. My sister in law and I ordered churro frappes that we're okay. They had A LOT of cinnamon mixed in that it was hard to taste the coffee. There was also a lot of flavored syrup at the bottom that made the drink overly sweet, which didn't help the loss of the coffee flavor. The place was really cute with good decor. But there were a couple of dirty tables. The service was fast but it looked like one lady all by herself. Elis/ Elise from Cuba ( sorry if I spelled your name wrong) brought our crepes and frappe out to us, then she let us know that she was going to keep my tiramisu cold until we're ready to go. She seen we were almost done and she brought out my tiramisu. I loved that she paid attention to detail. Knowing that warmth/ heat would make the tiramisu watery she wanted to make sure it stood cool while we enjoyed our crepes there. I found this place on Yelp and we checked it out today and it was great! We got 2 crepes and they were delicious, filled with strawberries and bananas. They had plenty of other desserts that looked good and a pretty big menu too. The service was great, they had a good seating area where we could enjoy the desserts. I would definitely recommend checking out this local desserts shop. They need a better sign, I've passed by this place so many times and I didn't know it was a dessert place until it popped up online. It was also hard to find when we were looking for it. I needed a place to study for finals and it seems I've found a really nice spot. I ordered the Avocado Toast, Champurrado, and Chocolate truffle cheesecake. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious! All the food came out fairly quickly and the staff was super nice! I've been here a couple of times and each time I leave disappointed. The last time I came I ordered the three fruits crepe, it's supposed to come with peach, strawberry, and banana. I get my order, leave, drive ten minutes to my house. The crepe is already completely soggy and tastes nasty. And, it only had a few strawberries on top of it.... like the whole point is to have three different fruits. And usually I like to give grace but something like this always happens when I get my food from here, and I was the only person in there so it's not like they were in a rush and messed up my order. First time going here! My girlfriend was craving brownies and found this small little place tucked in highland! It was very pink and cute inside stuffed with sweet treats! The people who worked there were very nice and helpful! Thursday is brownies day which was great. They have a few tables and chairs for people to lounge at and study. Disgusting. There's literally no Turkey on my sandwich. No cheese. It's just lettuce and tomato. I spent 25$ in this place for a coffee, sandwich and a piece of cake. A homeless man comes in harassing me and my 5 year old daughter. He was begging for money. And instead of asking the man to leave, the worker just gives him free food and drinks. A MUST GO PLACE! Recently went with a friend it was our 1st time here and the sweet lady gave us both a sample of their cafe de olla. Which was pretty good, I ended up ordering the Three Fruit Crepe with an Horchata Latte while my friend got a torta. The latte was extremely delicious it honestly smelled so wonderful and it was perfect for the weather. The crepe satisfied my craving for fruit and was actually filled in nicely. The interior was very cute they decorated for Christmas they have many baked good displayed. The music is a little loud but other than that this is a great place to get some work done! The staff were friendly but busy (Some of the tables were left uncleaned for a while).
