Was walking around the neighborhood sightseeing, and we liked the look of this brick building corner spot near the railroad tracks. Walked in & loved the cozy look of the place & the set-up. Went to the Countet, stood there for about 5 mins to the point of feeling awkward while the young lady made some coffees for an order. I understand you are working, but a simple "Hey, be right with u" would have been cool. Nope, she finished the order, called out the name of the coffee, and then asked what do u want. The whole vibe was negative, personally I was ready to go, but the wife & sister was starving. The food was okay, blueberry cake was Costco level (so not bad) Acai bowel was decent- overall pretty pricey. Definitely could have skipped & ate a snickers. read more

Food is very good but service was really unpleasant. They have a veggie panini that is supposed to come with hummus which is the main protein but they were out and had no veggie protein substitute. I asked if I could get a discount but they said they charge for the sandwich not for the stuff on it ?? This place used to be a go to spot the staff used to be friendly the food and coffee used to be good it was a cute welcoming environment. It's not anymore. Unfortunately food/coffee quality is subpar but still grossly over priced. Being close to downtown is nice but $15 for a breakfast item that I could have made better at home is absurd. The big thing is actually the staff. I can get over bad pricing and just go for a treat yourself or whatever day. But the staff is rude. They act bothered if you are there (your job literally depends on having customers stop being rude to them) I've worked in customer service all my life- it's time for an attitude change or staff change here. People don't really like to throw away money in places where the employees are entitled rude and can't complete the basic functions of their job. read more

I really wanted to fall in love with this place. I had walked by several times but they were closed for the day every time (they close relatively early - I think 12 PM). It looks so charming and adorable on the outside ... the inside, however, is very underwhelming. Additionally, it is shockingly expensive. I don't know if I have ever experienced such sticker shock before. I fully understand and acknowledge rent and cost of living generally is ridiculously expensive in downtown San Diego, however I'd expect a bit more for how much I paid for a bagel. My friend was visiting from out of town and I was so excited to finally visit this shop and hopefully show him a good experience. Unfortunately I was instead super embarrassed and felt so bad he paid so much for a pretty below-average experience. The food wasn't bad, but it was hard to stomach the pricing and the below average interior. I really really do want this place to succeed though - I hope they can elevate the experience to somehow justify their price points. Well, I got to walk with my feet because absolutely diabolical. They are charging $13 for a bagel and who knows how much for a coffee. When I expressed how much the prices went up the woman serving just said it's 2025 and you are downtown. We are nowhere close to downtown it is by a Trolley stop. Here is a picture of nobody there. Very cute coffee shop in San Diego. Adjacent to trolley light rail stations, its location is impeccable for foot traffic. Older rustic building is cute and clean! Happy staff provides good service and are genuinely nice. I came for a coffee, and they closed shortly thereafter but allowed me to finish my drink. Vanilla oat milk latte was really good! I visit this coffee shop once in a while for probably the past 10 years. I have a good experience each time. The baristas are always nice to me and my two kids. Very cute corner coffee shop near the convention center, warm and welcoming for tourists and con goers! Parking: Street metered parking only. Ambience: Theres a good amount of space indoors and outdoors (some tables with/without umbrellas). The indoors is decorated very cosily. Outlets can be difficult to find but when I went there was a power strip along the wall. There's free wifi as well. Service: Service was great, some very kind women were working diligently. Drinks: I got the Mexican mocha and my fiance got the iced mocha. Both were delicious, definitely on the sweeter side (of course theyre mochas!) and we prefer it that way! I've lived in California for almost 40 years. And I can honestly say that this was amongst my top 3 worst breakfast burritos I've ever had. I bought a burrito and a water and it was over $17 plus tip..... Zero seasoning not even salt or pepper. Basically just a 2 egg burrito. You had to pay extra for meat. It maybe had two tots in it for potato's. Honestly embarrassing. I would have given it 1 star but it didn't come piping hot. The $3.50 water bottle was literally a Costco Kirkland brand water bottle. 10/10 do not recommend. Maybe their coffee is good read more

The person at the register, who did not want to disclose her name or her manager's name, was short and rude. She created an environment where it seemed like it was a chore to serve and ask questions. I did not feel welcomed as a guest or valued as a customer. As a result, I will not be going back and will share my experience with friends and family. If you enjoy excellent customer service and employees who make you feel valued, this is not the place for you. read more

I should've known by the lack of customers inside. Grumpy staff who I clearly inconvenienced by asking to place an order. Ordered a latte, but was made incorrectly. When I questioned how it was made I was told the universal method was wrong. Asked for steamed milk and the unpleasant cashier said they don't do that because their water is too hot as is and not necessar. Went to The Tin Scoop across the street and the staff are so friendly helpful. All tables occupied. We stopped by for a late breakfast and had a coffee, breakfast burrito, side of eggs and an acai bowl. The coffee and food were decent. Their portion sizes are quite large. Two of us shared the breakfast burrito. The side of eggs has cheese but still tasted a little bland. The acai bowl was good and big enough for two people to share. The fruit on the a ai bowl was nice and fresh. They were out of hash browns when we went which was disappointing since it was supposed to be a part of the burrito. I live have lived next to the Brickyard for 20 years. It's sad to have seen this friendly customer oriented place deteriorate into a failed business with rude and uncaring employees. Yesterday the very aggressive clerk insisted she had given me the correct change when I showed her that it was $4 short. She returned my $20 bill and ordered me out of the store. I visit SD every summer for a week, and typically stay at dirtier the Hyatt Manchester or the Marriott Marquis. Last time I was here, this little place right across the street became my fave. This year, in trying to show my loyalty, I stopped by the first few mornings before my conference started. Each time, no one was home. 7:10, 7:20, even one morning at 7:35. Zilch. I can't tell if its the bad coffee or the terrible attitude of the Mexican girl that took our order. At the end of the day, both sucked, the coffee and this girls attitude.
