THE MAIN CONCERN.. MAID OF HONOR DRESS.... Of course, alterations are always needed. The bridal store where I ordered my dress refered me to this alterations place. The ladies here helped me right away, and put me in their homemade fitting rooms.. cannot expect alot from a cleaners place. I stepped out, and the lady said.. "do you want it shorter" I said, "Hmmm I dont know" She said, "Are you married??" I said, "no, why" She said, "We make it shorter. hahaha" Hilarious! For those interested in my dress, it is the same color as Kim Kardashian bridesmaid dress in Khloe's wedding.. per the choice of the bride. The lady also took in my dress since I shedded a few pounds. When I came to pick it up, they were fast, and the dress was ready. It was beautiful and fitted my big butt perfectly. They only charged me $37 for shortening the length and taking in 3 inches of the dress. Not bad at all. One setback.. everytime I went here, a bride was trying on her wedding dress. ugh. These ladies are amazing! I brought my wedding dress in here to be altered (by recommendation of a friend) and I was not disappointed!! My dressed needed to be taken up and hemmed majorly - since I am 5'2. They did a wonderful job making sure the bodice fit perfectly as well! I was largely in fear of quality and cost, mainly because I've heard so many horror stories about wedding dresses being butchered by alterations people. Although the quality of work wasn't bad I won't be returning. I went on two separate occasions to get the shoulder strap of my dresses altered and the second time she charged me $3 more saying that the material was different. It was exactly the same! It was from the same store and I even compared it when I got home. So beware because prices are at their discretion without consistency. But the main reason I will not be returning is that they ruined my clothes. Second time I got my dress back there was a snag right on the front bust and a hole in the back behind the tag where they safety pin it. I called right away to tell them this so they can't blame me for wearing it and causing it myself. When I got back they denied that they were to blame when I haven't even worn it out yet, tag was still attached. She kept saying that there was no way for the snag to be caused by them and that it must have came like that from the store. If I saw it at the store I wouldn't even have bought it, let alone bring to get it altered and it's not like it was unnoticeable. Finally after a while of arguing she decided to refund the cost of alteration and told me to return it. Upon leaving I saw a pointed sharp tool, the ones used for cutting thread that was lying out right on the front table right next to a pile of clothes where customers drop off their items. I kindly pointed it out to her that this is how something like that can happen and she had the nerve to say that the tool wouldn't damage clothes. It was as pointy as a needle! read more

Someone sent me here! She Altered a bridemaid dress and I paid $100. Went back with two pairs of pants (work uniform) to alter and I was charged $100 for the both. Im not sure what other places charge for cutting and heming a pair of pants but $50/pants is ridiculous. Then... after wearing it three time, I saw that the thread started to open up. smh! I came in to get a quote for my bridesmaid's to get their dresses altered. Everything was great at first. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a day for all bridemaids to go in and get fitted. Went in with bridesmaid #1, total price was set at $40 for bust, strap and hem on bottom. She needed the works. Went in with bridesmaid #2. She needed very little alterations--just the strap and the hem. No bust. Now the total price was $55. Hmmmm....less work for more money? When I brought this up as an issue I was yelled at, they told me I was wrong and that I was cheap. Ok great now I know all the other yelp reviews are true and will gladly take my business,my bridesmaid's, and my mom's business elsewhere. You are rude, don't know how to run a business and are scammers. I went down the block to Lucy's and she nicely took care of us for a great price. No yelling. No eye rolling. Sadly, Henry G., you are wrong. You act as if only foreigners who own businesses have bad customer service. You must be naive to think Americans all offer excellent customer service. I get it. If you're not Asian, you will be hesitant to come here. Right or wrong, most Asians I know are blunt and don't really have tact, but they are not bad people. I will say, it's frustrating that they don't advertise their prices and it fluctuates daily. Having said that, I have had many items altered here, as well as my mom, dad, and sis, and they have all come out as expected. She is actually a seamstress from China. If you ever travelled, or been to China, you would know that many old-school seamstresses from China know what they are doing. It's not a coincidence a majority of the clothes you buy are from China (everything from major labels to H&M, Forever 21, etc.) I plan on taking all my clothes to Brigette because she gets it right. I'm not there to be pampered or sweet talked or patronized. I just want my clothes to fit the way I want, and that's what they do. read more

My boyfriend and i dropped off a small bag of clothes to be dry cleaned and a jacket which needed minor alteration (add 3 buttons). We were excited to leave with a 46$ bill and thought, "well this place got great reviews and it's cheap, this is great!" We went back about 4 days later with the money in hand (cash only!). After one of the ladies collected all the garments she then told us it was 62$. How did it go up 16 more dollars??? and with no explanation :(. The next day I put on my jacket, which I was finally able to button only to be disappointed that when they added one of the three buttons they sewed through my jacket and sectioned my pocket. I wouldn't use this dry cleaner again. read more

I haven't used Brigette for any else but to get my bridesmaid dress altered for a wedding and I must say that I was very pleased with the alterations and so was the rest of the bridal party that did get their dresses altered here. She was very easy going and made suggestions based on body type and for a bridesmaid dress, the price for alterations was very very affordable. I'd definitely use Brigette for other alterations but since I'm in Daly City it's a bit far off to travel for alterations but I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

Lucy's Alterations had my dress for 6 months. She took my money in full and the photo on the left was the so-called "finished product" that she sent me home with 5 days before my wedding. She added on custom sleeves despite me offering to buy a bolero to add on instead. What took Lucy six months to ruin about my dress, Bridgette Cleaners fixed in 3 days!! Linda took me in the day before the 4th of July holiday and made my dress beautiful again. She made all new sleeves because the sleeves Lucy made were completely unrepairable. They were crooked, unfinished, and had ripped lace. She didn't even let me try it on at my final fitting so I had no idea until I got home. Linda made my dreams come true for a reasonable price and I cried it out because she took a huge weight off my shoulders. She asked me to try on the dress and she even made same-day slight adjustments to the sleeves so they fit like a glove. She has an eye for what looks good and how things should fit. I couldn't be happier. I got my dress one day before my wedding and it was perfect. All was right with the world again. Absolutely HORRIFIC! Don't bring anything you value to Bridgette's. I brought in 3 items which were all returned with problems. One pair of expensive white slacks were ruined. Result of over use of chemicals. Instead of taking responsibility, she tried to convince me that no one will notice. Are you kidding me...Unbelievable!!! The pants are ruined and can't be worn. A cashmere sweater was returned with two stains and fuzz balls all over. This is not how it was given to them. I have a pair of black slacks which my suede jacket "crocked" all over the front of. They said they could get it off and didn't. It was given back the exact same way. I ended up having to pick off all the suede balls myself. Then they have the audacity to charge me for all three items. When I got home I was visibly upset and my husband went down to Bridgette's when he saw the condition of the garments. They still did not want to take any responsibility or even offer to reimburse for a new pair of white slacks. I'll give them one star to be fair. This is for their ability to do good work on "simple" alterations. Simple being the operative word. It's not worth the risk, don't bring your good attire to Bridgette's for dry cleaning. To have all three garments returned with a problem clearly indicates that there might be something more going on at Bridgette's. read more

During my second fitting, which I thought might be it, the lady suggested another alteration which really helped the dress look much better for me. The ladies there are officious though friendly enough . I would consider going back... Though it is a bit of a drive for me, I like that there is ample parking and no meters. read more

After re-reading my previous review for this place, I realized this place has inconsistent rates. I went back to get one pair of jeans hemmed and they only charged me $8 bucks. But the first time I went there they charged me $10 bucks per pants. There was no difference in the type of alternations. Who knows what they will charge me if I come back. Blah- not cool. Bought my daughter a prom dress a size too big, but it was THE perfect dress, so searched high and low for affordable alterations. Found Ms Linda and she did an amazing job for an unbeatable cost and got it done in less than a week. The dress fit perfect after Linda did her magic. My wedding was on March 7, 2010 and my dress was indeed gorgeous. In summary, I had a total of 3 fittings and the total cost was $350. She forgot to sew in my cups inside the dress, when I reminded her, she said ok, i'm doing this for free b/c i didn't include it in the quote. This is BS b/c I know we talked about sewing in cups multiple times. She did a great job with the wedding dress. I came all the way out to SSF to get my bridesmaid dress for my cousins wedding 2 yrs ago and Linda did such a great job with my dress. (covering up my bulges that is). I was totally impressed! Then I came all the way back out to see Linda again to get my wedding dress altered, for my Maui elopement, and yes it was my turn to shine, and like clock work , Linda made my dress look like it was made on my body! Now 6 months after that, I'm getting married again in front of friends and family in Vegas, and of course I bought another wedding dress! I've been getting alterations done here for quite a while now. Three bridesmaid dresses, my daughter's first communion, and tons of pants for my short legs (OK, I'm short in general, it's not just my legs). They always do a great job. I even bring simple things like getting my son's uniform patches sewn on or fixing my husband's favorite tie that is starting to lose its stitching. I think the prices are fine, but others think it is expensive. I guess to me I feel you get what you pay for. They pay attention to details, especially with the wedding attire. No nonsense service. They are friendly to me and my family every time we go, no matter how busy they are. read more

I love this place!!! I used them over 6 years ago to do my wedding dress - yes, it isn't the fanciest place but they get the job done. I use them now to hem all my pants, they do a great job and can often get it done fast if asked. Most places will take in the dress at the sides but she actually took it in at the sweetheart area and made the fit to my liking (no side fat!). I am Chinese and am used to the customary rude and very honest nature of the culture, so their demeanor doesn't bother me one bit. I understand that it's all about customer service, but hey, they do a good job and they know their stuff, so I can't complain. They once altered my one shoulder Alice and Olivia dress and it fit like a glove. Bridgette gave me advice on how it should fit to my body (and it ain't skinny!). Some people may call that rude, but I'm used to my Chinese mother and relatives who comment, "wow you look so fat!" so that doesn't phase me. I got another bridemaid's dress hemmed and it was complicated with ruffles all the way down the dress, and they only quoted me $40. They did a great job, and I was happy with the way it fit. Just make sure you ask them the price and hold it to them. They're fast, efficient, and always do a good job. My mom also goes to them and she loves them too. read more

My dress was 3 layers so I was worried it might not be done in time. I went in 4 times for my fittings and each time she was super precise and detailed. I needed some custom pieces of fabric sewn for the interior of a gazebo earlier this year. I went to several places, and for a variety of reasons, no one could help me. I was referred to Brigette by another tailor. They did a GREAT job, once we were able to agree what the exact sizes were. They weren't really curtains, more like borders, and it took us all a while to be clear what I wanted. :) The price and time needed were reasonable, and they turned out exactly as I hoped. I can't say enough good things about these ladies!! First experience: 2 years ago, I bought my wedding dress from an expensive boutique in Burlingame. They charged me $600 for hemming and bustle . I wanted to cry when I saw how they bustled my dress... $600 down the drain!! I was then referred here , and they did such a great job on re-bustling the dress for $80! Apparently the $600 job was coming apart too. I sincerely hesitated before deciding to write this review because I like Linda and the ladies who work at the shop and don't want to harm them. However, I wanted others to be aware because once an evening dress is cut too short, there's no going back. Linda did an amazing job altering my wedding dress 10 years ago. Recently, I took two A-lined long, flowy evening dresses to be altered at the shoulders and hemmed. The shoulder alterations were decent (not perfect), but the hem was very poorly done. In the most recent case, the sides of the dress were visibly shorter than the front. Linda uses the powder stick to mark the new length, but after seeing the powder line on the cut pieces (she returns them to you), I honestly believe she doesn't use the stick well or carefully, and that's what caused the problem. Looking at the cut piece she returned, the powder mark on the side of the dress where she started to spray differed by a good quarter inch at the same spot (after going round the dress)! When I folded the cut piece onto itself to compare the sides, the two sides of the dress differed by 1/3 inch and the left side of the dress (the worst part) was over half of an inch shorter than the front. When I tried on the dress, I could immediately see the sides were shorter and told her that. I'm sure she could see it too, but she denied it and said it looked great. She got upset that I even called that out and said "I'm not happy you are saying that". She wanted me to try on the dress again, but I didn't see the point since the sides were already too short, and I frankly didn't want her to touch it again. I will need to get it altered somewhere else to fix it - probably using a lower heeled pair of shoes so it can all be the same length. In hindsight, I should have asked her to hem the dress evenly according to the original seam, even if that wasn't perfect, and not use the powder stick. At least, I would have been responsible for that decision if the dress came out uneven. Please note that I payed her fee in full without arguing about the amount or even asking her to reduce it. I simply wanted her to admit that a mistake had been made. read more

I had some reservations about taking my wedding dress to Brigette's after reading a few of the reviews, but after my original tailor almost ruined my dress just 3 weeks before my wedding, I convinced myself that I needed to try Brigette's. Needless to say, I should have trusted my original instinct and gone with Brigette's from the beginning. Linda was amazing. She knows exactly what's she doing. My initial consultation with her was almost 45 minutes. She put so many pins in my wedding dress, chalked the hem line, showed me how she would create the bustle. And never once did she asks me how much I paid for my wedding dress. I went back the following week for one final fitting before she built the bustle. She made a few additional tweaks and when I went back the next week to pick up the dress. It fit like a glove! It was absolutely perfect! I couldn't have been happier! All in all, I paid $250.00 for the alterations which I felt was completely reasonable considering Linda had to hem the dress, take the dress in, build a bustle, steam the dress and steam my veil. It was worth every penny! I have to give Brigette's 4 stars only because they are cash only. Who doesn't take credit cards nowadays? read more

I felt that there was a language barrier when I was trying to explain what I wanted done to the lady that was doing the tailoring. Either she was really busy, or didn't care about what I wanted specifically or there really was a language barrier. So I give her the benefit of the doubt. The price was much more expensive than I anticipated, like $60 to alter a slightly too large lab coat for me. I am really petite so I wanted her to do specific things on the shoulder area to make it not look like I am trying to fit into a coat that was too large for me. When I got it back, she improved the way it fitted, but she didn't do the specific things that I had asked for even though she charged an additional $15 because of the extra little things that I wanted. I was a little upset about that, but overall the coat is wearable now. Just not worth the price. They did work fast because I gave them the coat on Friday after I came off work and told them I really needed it Monday for work and it was ready by then like promised. So plus one star for that. However, when I received it (I gave it to them brand new like only worn for one day) it came back to me dirty. It is a white lab coat, so it is obvious when it got dirty. I saw little black fuzz balls all over it as well. Don't know how that happened, so that was kinda gross so minus one star for that. Overall, they know what to do, but I don't know if they take pride in their work to put in the extra effort to do a perfect job. So I am a little afraid to go back their again if it is an expensive outfit. read more

Went with my roommate to get our bridesmaid dresses altered. They were very quick at the fitting appointment! Had us in and out in about 30 minutes for the both the dresses. Pricing is reasonable and they got us the dresses back within a week and half (granted we didn't have a rushed timeline) When we got the dresses back they fit PERFECTLY, just like the dress was made to fit me. This is a review for their alterations side. Took my wedding dress there to have some alterations done - very satisfied with their work and the price was reasonable relative to what I've heard others have paid for alterations. The review that noted that they asked for the price of the dress in order to get a sense of what you were able to pay is probably on target - if you spent a pretty penny on your dress, could be worth bending the truth a bit and saying you got a better deal. I only needed one fitting, and got a fantastic bargain on my dress, so my overall price for alterations was very reasonable (I was initially quoted at ~$120, and paid $125). Come prepared with a little more than the initial quote since it seems there is a tendency to "forget" something small that gets added at the end (for me, that little extra was the bustle). A note of advice - if you are particular about how the dress fits in any specific areas, be firm about what you want. Once I voiced exactly what I didn't like/wanted, I found that they were open to re-pinning the dress and the end result was something I'm very happy with. I will definitely come here again for any other alterations. read more

If I could give one star I would. Took my bridesmaid dress to get altered, which was brand new in the plastic when I brought it to Brigette's. When I came to pick it up, it had multiple stains on the dress and a big green marker stain right in the middle. The seamstress claimed that they didn't have that color pen and couldn't have happened there. After going back and fourth she finally tried to clean it. The stain didn't come out all the way, but I had no choice but to take it. I asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience multiple times and she just ignored me. Never again. read more

Okay, the reason I came to this place was because a gf of mine came here to get her bridesmaids dress altered and I had an emergency to get a zipper redone because I had to break it open to get my bridesmaid out of the dress! So anyways, they charged me $10, which at that time I didn't care because this was the day before my wedding. I came here again to get my jeans altered because it was convenient. Tell me why the lady at the front kept giving me different prices each time I asked?! They don't have prices posted, so they make up a price on the spot.
