I am 75 years old and I had a major spine surgery called a two level lumbar fusion. The staff at Brighton place or kind, compassionate, completely knowledgeable, prompt, and cheerful. Every issue that I called to their attention, was addressed immediately and resolved without problem. The only thing that I could give them a bad review on would be the food, it wasn't the best. More fresh vegetables would have been nice. I was greatly impressed by the happiness and the cohesiveness of the relationships of the staff with each other. I hope I never have to use their services again, but if I need skilled nursing or rehab, I will definitely go to Brighton Place . read more

First of all, the place is pristine. It is clean and welcoming. The staff is amazing. I stayed there for about 2 months this past summer, and I felt practically spoiled. The PT/OT staff is great. 11/22 Minus stars if I could: To finish the review, I have to report that during my family members stay here in August, he contracted sepsis. I had to get a Power of Attorney to get him out and back to the hospital. After a week stay at the hospital he was moved him to another skilled nursing facility (I will review them shortly) where he stayed for 2 more weeks. It's a good thing I acquired the POA and was able to take charge. I'd hate to think the outcome if I would have just left him to the care of this facility. If you choose this facility, you must go everyday to make sure they're being taken care of. read more

This place is a total nightmare. The rooms are shabby, old and poorly constructed. They look like a handyman special. But it is to be expected with a slum landlord at the helm. There is often no security at this building. One can enter through the main doors and not see a single employee. This is in a rather sketchy neighborhood and leaves the residents vulnerable. My husband was Covid free for 4 years until arriving here. He contracted it from staff as he was in a private room. Upon discharge, he was given another resident's medication to take home with him. Lastly, the management staff is so very unprofessional, they do not have the courtesy of returning a requested phone call after having been left numerous messages for over a week. You must have someone present to advocate for your care or it will go wanting. The two bright spots were the physical therapists named Kathy (who works for an outside firm) and Jesse, a very caring nurse. Please, please do not use this facility at any cost. read more

My father was admitted there after having fallen in his home. He then proceeded to fall 3 times in one month, with the 3rd fall resulting in his death. There were NO falls precautions put in place, which should have been done as soon as he was admitted. He also developed a bed sore, which the nursing staff knew nothing about! I have been an RN for over 30 years working in nursing homes and rehab facilities and NEVER has any patient fallen 3 times in one month. This place should be shut down! There is nothing "quality" about this facility at all. In order to turn the light on over his bed, he had to turn the lightbulb since there was no working switch for the light. Another patient developed sepsis due to a UTI, and she had to call an ambulance herself to take her to the hospital! I wouldn't let my worst enemy stay here. read more

My mom was at Brighton place spring valley 5 times mostly because of falls and two times because of a stroke and blood clots! At first it didn't seem so bad but they were definitely understaffed and communication between staff to staff and staff to patient left a lot to be desired! I can name on one hand outstanding employees who seemed to care and always did a great job! If you choose to put your loved one here always keep detailed notes on your conversations with whoever you are talking to, times, dates, etc. My mom had two sweaters and two phone chargers stolen from this facility and even though I reported it to many different people there at least 12 times we were never reimbursed for any of it! I suggest that if anything comes up missing, report it everyday until you get compensated! Recently my mom had another stroke and needed another rehab facility and an employee named Lady called and saw we were looking for a place for my mom and I told her we would not bring her there because our stolen items were never reimbursed. My mother recently was admitted into Spring Valley Nursing facility. I cannot tell you how accommodating, caring and hard working the staff has been from the Social Worker, Yvonne and Jenn, Director of Nursing. Phil, Facility Administrator, is hands on, available and very efficient. The food service is surprisingly good and delivered to each room. What a wonderful group of people who work hard every day and they outdid themselves preparing the residents for COVID and keeping them calm and safe. read more

Too bad I can't give this place less than one star. I've had an untreated bladder infection for over a week. Now I have right flank pain. My roommate also has a UTI with blood in her urine. I'm feverish, but no one will take my temperature. I also have an open sore I can't get a bandage for and am at risk for MRSA. The owners of Brighton Place in Spring Valley haven't claimed this place because they like people to believe they provide top notch care... They don't. Top notch neglect. They almost lost a patient who is here. He spent 3 or more days in a coma. Probably due to something that could've been caught early. Please, don't try to recover here. I've been here since just before Thanksgiving 2021. This facility sucked right off the bat. First thing, it was cold. I brought this to the a. ttention of staff, who were all running around bunded up, and the response was that they would let Maintenance know. In the meantime, I discovered a thermostat in my room and adjusted it so my room was comfortable. Maintenance came in and readjusted the thermostat and took it out of my room. Back to freezing. The nursing staff are good people for the most part, but they are understaffed. The administration here is only interested in adding money to their bottom line. Food is worse than Military Basic Training. Powered eggs, sausage and other meats so greasy you could change the oil in your simi truck. By the time it gets served, it's cold. The only warm food you usually receive is coffee, because it's kept in a thermos. Don't leave your loved ones here! If they wind up here, get them out as soon as you can! read more

The best thing about Brighton Place is the hard working caring staff. Our 95 yr old Mom was transferred there after a stay in the hospiral for PT/Rehab to recover her strength after an infection. I believe they may be good at Rehab/PT for things like joint replacements but just not equipped for the level of care my Mom required. We were misguided by the discharge staff at the hospital. We transferred Mom home with Hospice after a four day stay at Brighton Place and she passed away 5 days later. I'm giving a rating of 3 stars because of the staff. The facility needs a major upgrade but if you overlook that the people were very caring while being understaffed. read more

Had to take some time to rate this place, as a client of Brighton Place and being capable of advocating for myself since I only went there for therapy. Abominable, during my stay I realized that although some of the staff is about helping the clients others could care less to include the night nurse by the name of Igor who literally threatened me because I wasn't being administered my prescriptions as ordered by my docs. I felt that administration although they took the time to placate me really only cared about the reviews. During a COVID outbreak I've watched some of the staff entering infected rooms with PPE then walking into a non infected room with said PPE; shameful. Given a choice Brighton Place at Spring Valley would be my last choice as they have stripped me of the desire to ever be in a nursing home no matter the reason. I feel sorry for those who are there and are incapable of standing up for themselves. Cold food in styrofoam which if you ask to have warmed, pics below is what you get burnt styrofoam mix with meal. I have a friend that was staying here and she described it as the worst facility like if that she's ever been in. A caregiver complained about her to another patient and she overheard it, which is completely unprofessional and unethical considering that they're working with people with medical problems and those recovering from surgeries and such. It didn't seem very clean, and was unkept. When I arrived, I asked the front desk what room my friend was in and they had no record of her, saying it was because she was a new patient, but she'd already been there for at least a day or two, it wasn't like she had just been transferred over only hours before my arrival. Not a place I'd recommend for you to send friends and family to. read more

The doctor never comes to see you, the dietitian asks your likes and dislikes and allergies and they completely ignore it and give you everything you said you couldn't eat. First off they took me to the wrong facility on 1350 Euclid where they had no bed for me. There is no room phone after 7 days of asking for one. I am lactose intolerant and had to eat dry cereal twice this week. Often times they ignore call lights and calls from my cellphone to the front desk. I can not use my legs and there are only bed rails on one side of the bed and nearly fell out of bed twice. The worst care ever and they don't know simple medical terms like right and left Sims positions. I'd love to give them a 0 star rating but there is no option. read more

I just had to spend about four month's in this nursing facility first to save my left foot with mega doses of I.V. Antibiotics then to recover from the surgery of a below the knee amputation. Then the healing and eventually the physical therapy to walk with a prosthetic. From the time I checked in until I left last week, I was made to feel special like my care and recovery were the most important thing there was. I want to start with the CNA's these are the hardest working and the most underpaid people in medicine a certified nursing assistant is a job not many people can or are willing to do and Brighton Place has a lot of excellent CNA's I just want to mention a few names so people stand out they were all good or great at what they did but a few of the stand outs are Jovi, and Rosa. Rosa would even give you a haircut if you needed one and Jovi could always find me a snack whenever I was hungry. Q was always there if I needed ice or anything else. I'm sorry if I didn't mention them all. The were all great at what they do. Now the nurses mostly LVNs that's a licensed vocational nurse. Start with the nurse that was there most of the time his name is "Bong" he is a caring professional, then there is James he was always concerned with my progress, a True professional. Ciara was always a happy person making sure I had everything I needed from my coffee in the morning to my antibiotics daily. Lorena my wound nurse did such a great job healing my wound I was trying on the prosthetics in record time. Jennifer the Director of Nursing or the "DON" was always answering any question I had on my recovery. Then the Physical Therapy team was excellent in strengthening any muscle that I would be using in my new lifestyle little Kathy worked with me daily a true professional. I shouldn't even be giving this place a one because it doesn't deserve that. My boyfriends mother was here for a few years and every time we went to see her we were greeted with death stares by staff- for no absolute reason. It was like they didn't want us to find something, very odd, until I read other reviews about this place. It's basically hell on earth. It's dirty, dingy, always smelled like pee, and worst off the medical staff doesn't care one bit. The only reason he kept her was because it was the only place he could afford. He was paying out of pocket on top of what the state allocates his mother so he was stretching himself thin, especially considering he has a daughter. Every time I asked for water for his mother I was given eye rolls and wouldn't receive the water for at least 20 minutes. Keep in mind I had to hunt someone down to even ask because they are no where to be found. Aside not caring for my boyfriends mother, every single belonging that was bought for her was taken. No one knew who was in charge or where her belongings went. We started to notice her in health deteriorating but when we discussed with the staff they just said "she was getting old." She's 63.. the tipping point was my boyfriends mother was sent to the hospital for pneumonia and a urinary tract infection, yet the center didn't call my boyfriend, the woman she shared a room with called my boyfriend. When we confronted Brighton about this they said, "We didn't have to because we don't know who he is." As though he hadn't been visiting his mother for years. This was the tipping point, aside not keeping her healthy, they failed to bring her issues to our attention. Probably why they didn't greet us each time we visited. It hurts my heart that there are people in the medical Profession that do not have a heart. I cannot imagine this treatment being given to their own mothers and them feeling differently. The great news is we have transferred her over to a different home and now that she is on meds, she's finally TALKING! We haven't had conversations w her in years because of the care from Brighton. They told us she couldn't talk because of the stroke and heart attack she had. The new care she is under has made her a new person and I'm grateful for the El Dorado Home. It was hard to see her in Brighton Place but we felt we had no other option. Thanks to hospital help we found El Dorado and have a new relationship with his mother. I strongly advise anyone NOT to use Brighton Place as they are a true scam. I'm unsure how they are still in business. Interesting to note, other patients from Brighton that are now at El Dorado have voiced the same strong concerns that we have about care and missing belongings. So very disheartening. read more

Staff is particularly attentive, kind and responsive. Both male and female aides are respectful while performing their duties and address their patients by name. Although the facilities are older the maintenance staff diligently keeps things humming and the cleaning staff does an excellent job. The Dietician makes an effort to be aware of any allergies which might affect the residents and will check on any swallowing issues. Some Doctors are more responsive than others and once family becomes aware of the matter the family can change the assigned physician. The Director of Nurses has improved several procedures within the facility since she arrived in March and should be commended for her efforts. The Director specifically worked extra hours over a weekend when we realized medications had changed and the Director found a physician to correct all requirements including pain medications. The Charge Nurses on every shift are particularly competent, are very responsive to the patients needs and will take prompt affirmative action when needed. All Nurses work well with their patients, they pay close attention to medications, behavior, alertness and physical needs. It is not possible to acknowledge everyone, however, Ms. Ofelia, Debbie, Jennifer, Diane and Josephena must be given a particular Thank You. read more

My pops is currently a resident at this facility and I couldn't be happier. All the staff have been great. The director of nursing and charge nurse keep me informed and updated on his condition or any issues that come up. The rehab staff are amazing and already have him walking again! I see his strength returning with every visit. Ryan, the director of rehab, has made sure our goals for my pops are being met, and we are on track for him to return home in a couple weeks.
