So far, Autosport Werks has given me confidence in their team, but time will be the true test. I brought my 2016 VW Tiguan in for an oil leak which turned out to be many oil leaks and and a couple of knock-on issues. The repair job was very expensive, but my comparison shopping told me their price wasn't terribly far off from what I could expect elsewhere. In the few weeks since that work was done my windshield washer pump has gone out, which does make me a touch suspicious, but given how old the car is I guess I can't be too shocked about random parts giving up the ghost. Their team has been very nice and patient with me and my many questions. They've been transparent, breaking down the quote for me when asked and making sure I understood what they'd found and what they were proposing to do to fix it. The piece that gave me the most assurance was that they offer a four year warranty on their repairs, which I can't imagine any shop would do if they were fly-by-night. So far, so good.

They wanted $178 to replace the PCV valve (which did not need it, and is only a $9 part, I can do that myself). Overall I found their prices high, and their communication not the best as I had to call to get an itemized breakdown of what I was paying, it was not offered prior to them starting repairs. Although I will not return, I have nothing but nice things to say about Caleb at the desk! He was very helpful and professional when I told them I did not want to continue service. 5 stars for Caleb, 3 for the shop.

I was told I had "no choice" but to put a specific fluid in my vehicle, which conveniently meant more money out of my pocket. Once I questioned that claim and pushed back on the additional charge, the entire attitude changed. Instead of explaining the charge or providing documentation to support it, the person I was dealing with became extremely defensive and told me to come pick up my vehicle. What makes this even more concerning is that throughout this process I repeatedly asked for a complete, line-by-line itemized breakdown of the repair costs, and they continued avoiding providing it. If the charges are legitimate, why is it so difficult to put them in writing and explain exactly what the customer is being charged for? The second I started questioning the numbers and asking them to justify the charges, suddenly they didn't want my business anymore. That tells me everything I need to know. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this shop get every single price and charge in writing before authorizing anything and independently verify what they tell you.
