I've been here twice, and I have to say that I've been happy with my meals both times. We ordered the philly cheese steak sliders for an appetizer and THEY ARE DELICIOUS! I feel like when a place has good apps they are bound to have good entrees too. Buttery soft rolls are also served on the table while you wait for your meal. As for entrees, both times I have ordered the Parmesan chicken. It comes with two sides, the mashed potatoes are delicious. I ordered steamed broccoli as a healthier choice but it tasted like it had butter on it :( My fiancé ordered the steak, and had the Parmesan crust on it which he liked. His side was the sweet potato casserole (I was between this and the regular mashed potatoes). I had a bite of his sweet potato casserole and it was sooo good. The reason why I took off a star was for service. Our server was nice and attentive, but when she brought out the plates (they were hot) she kind of rudely asked us to move everything out of the way (wait for the next part before you think that I'm a total snob). I let that slide up until she started counting down 1..2..3... as if we were children, so I was a little irked by that. Otherwise, she was fine. Food was average, and the service was just okay. Ambiance, just okay. My biggest problem was charging a fee for using my card to pay instead of cash. Is that what we are doing at restaurants now? If we are ever in town again, we will not be going back. read more

This is one of my favorite places. That being said, the last two visits were very disappointing. I've had the same server in the past and they gave phenomenal service but they are stretched so thin that they are unable to much beyond taking orders and filling beverages. This time they weren't able to serve baked potatoes and they were out of key lime pie. They are serving condiments in small metal cups not even half filled. I realize that things are difficult for everyone, but it is time to focus on quality customer experience. The fact that a customer thinks enough of your establishment to spend their limited resources in you place should spur you to give them a great experience so that they will choose you again in the future. My experience this evening will make me reluctant to return any time soon. read more

Great food. Didn't take long to get a table. Good selection of food. Only concern was the waitress we had. "Ashleigh" was a HUGE bitch. Laughed when my hefty neice ordered a big steak. Asked my sister if she didn't want a salad instead of what she actually wanted. And when we asked what the soup was, she said" don't worry it's got plenty of butter and fat in it so you'll love it". Probably the best steaks you can get locally. In addition to great steaks, there are a good number of other options like bacon wrapped shrimp skewers. Depending on the time and day, you might have a longer wait, but a 20 or 30 min wait is usually worth it. Perfect time to go would probably be during the week. read more

Terrible service. I will NEVER go back and discourage anyone of color to go to this establishment. I Sat at the bar and wasn't a knowledges for ten mins. A white couple came in after me to be greeted by the bartender, that came from behind the bar to personally clean their spot. They had more than 7-8 personnel behind the bar at any given time. Briquettes Steakhouse - Bone In Ribeye my favorite - Steakhouses Near Me - Mobile, Alabama

I heard good things about Briquettes, so I thought that I would give it a try. The environment is a typical steakhouse, but there is nothing typical about their food. Ordered a Caesar salad, loaded baked potato, and the Cowboy Ribeye to go. I had to head back to the Eastern Shore but wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Needless to say, everything was stellar. The ribeye was perhaps the best that I've had....it give Ruth's Chris a run for the money in quality of meat. The Caesar salad was made with real Caesar dressing . Delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and was just a superior piece of steak. Kudos on getting it right. We will return to Briquettes, of that I can assure you. Do yourself a favor and just go and enjoy!!! read more

Briquettes is quite deceiving from the outward appearance in a strip mall, however, once inside the food is always delicious. Steaks, bourbon glazed salmon, strawberry grilled chicken salad to name a few of my favorites. Great for lunch or dinner. There are Monday thru Thursday specials posted on a chalkboard in the restaurant. read more

I love coming here. Their Monday special, Ribeye steak, side and tea for $11.99. There are also weekday specials. I ordered a med-rare steak and a med came out. The waitress took it back immediately and brought me a new piece to my likings! Awesome service. I also had the homemade onion rings! delicious! The first store to open. There are two in Mobile. This food is delicious. The owners take pride in their establishment and it shows.

Such a great place to eat but seems a little bit unusual for such a nice place to be located in a strip store front of little shops off a main busy road. Inside is a small bar and cozy nice dark lit dining area with booths and various chairs and tables-there are charcoal briquettes in the light at our booth-neat touch. So don't let the store front fool you. Great server who has worked with the owner for years. YES!!! it is true - I could cut my 6 oz filet with a fork it was so very tender. DH ordered a rib eye that he enjoyed very much but seemed to wish he had ordered a larger filet like mine after tasting it and seeing how tender it was. They bring out nice garlic butter biscuits to tie you over until the main course arrives. Salads are fresh, nice and cold. I love all of the potatoes sides you can choose from but it made it very hard to pick. I had the sweet potato casserole that was perfect and made me long for Thanksgiving. Will be back for more. Briquettes Steakhouse is a casual independent Chop House and bar with the classic menu of grilled steaks chicken and pasta. I I love going at lunch and I usually order the salmon salad. Their ranch dressing is delicious and I believe they also have a lemon poppy seed dressing that is super. Jody at the bar on montlimar Avenue is super nice. The manager Jeremy is awesome! read more

This place was recommended by a friend when we were visiting in Mobile. It just happened to be only a few miles from where we were staying. The food, atmosphere and the service were top notch. To start off, the rolls were like pillows of buttery goodness--light as air. My wife ordered the Filet chunks wrapped in bacon and she said they were the best she'd ever eaten. I had the NY Strip and it was cooked a perfect medium. We both had the sweet potato casserole; she had the house salad and I had the Strawberry Side salad. I've eaten many salads like this but this one had something unique in its flavor that compared to none others--I'd give it an 11 on a scale of 1-10. Our server was excellent, and we now have a favorite place when we pass through the Mobile, AL area. read more

Went again a couple of days ago. Stellar, as usual! With the exception of the pasta last time, I've never had a bad experience here. I always get the salmon and it's perfect every time! If I had to choose a last meal, this would be it! And the service was great as well. Unfortunately, I've found that most restaurants will put 'singles' off in a corner somewhere and just forget about them. I've never had that problem here. They're always very attentive and so pleasant. If anyone out there likes salmon, it's a MUST here! read more

We came on a Saturday evening with 9 people. We waited 1.5 hours... The most I've ever waited to eat, but I heard it was worth it so I did. And it was a really good meal. I had a bone in rib eye cooked medium well with a loaded potato and Caesar salad. For the price, I was pleasantly pleased. Our waiter was awesome and the food came quickly and hot. No need to add any seasonings nor sauce to my steak. Very tender. Trust me on this, I am a foodie. The restaurant doesn't have much seating, that's why I think the wait is soooo long. They do have an impressively large bar and a wine collection. But if this was down sized, more people could be seated at a time. In this building, the prior restaurant didn't have all that and they could accommodate more people at once. The problem too is that the overflow for the waiting area is inside the restaurant and so people basically could be standing closer than comfortable waiting to be seated watching as you eat. They definitely should have a partition and that's why I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars. I suggest coming on a weekday or early afternoon if you Dont want to be in an restaurant that "feels" overcrowded. Other than all those things, I had a good experience and will give them another try at this location. The manager was always in view and he appeared to be working as hard as possible. I appreciate the host and hostess and all their good attitudes even though I just knew they all were exhausted. Pretty cool spot, just needs a couple improvements. read more
