2026 Review. 03.20.2026 Went here for Good Friday since I can only eat Seafood. Was greeted and seated. GIVEN some salsa with tortilla chips. Ordered a shrimp Campechana (2) and fish tacos along with a margarita and Jarritos. All received within 10 minutes. The Shrimp Campechana Cocktails were good. They really pack in the shrimp and octopus inside. Not stingy at all. The fish tacos were fresh. This place is old school. Its a local mariscos place in the bixby knolls area. No complaints, all was good. Friendly service and plenty of parking both on the street and parking lot. Great Mexican Seafood! read more

Yesterday I ordered from BS Caldo de res, carnitas garden combo 4,6&8 charged to my visa I paid total of 91.83 plus a$5.00 tip. The order was taken a Maria and they did not include onions cilantro salsa and Spanish rice. The Caldo de Rees didn't have corn on the cob nor Spanish rice. I'm so disappointed. Maybe there's a change of management or something. The beef was also chewy as if they microwave it. Microwave changes the texture of meats and dough as everyone knows. No restaurant worth its name will ever use microwave. You can ask Chef Gordon Ramsey the World famous chef. I ended up throwing away what I ordered. A hundred mula down the drain. Throw away whatever flyers you have received from them. read more

The two stars are for effort. My chile verde had HUGE chunks of egg shell in it. I would've been happy with the food since it did taste good but trying to get through the shells was extremely dissatisfying. I lost my appetite. It was almost like they cooked my over easy egg with the shell. My husband said his over easy was over cooked. He likes a runny egg on his chiliquiles. But overall he said it tastes fine. We have yet to try the chorizo bfst burrito since now I'm not sure I want to eat it. We really were hoping this would be a good spot since it's only half a mile away from us. Food is always great and service is outstanding. Soups are always tasty but my favorite is the street tacos.

This place is truly a gem! We stopped in here close to close and weren't expecting much but it was a home run! Lupita was our waiter and she was so friendly and informative. She kept our drinks full and the chips n salsa stocked! The vibe of the place is not to go unnoticed either. It really was an all around great experience and I can't wait to go back. I used to come here for menudo on the weekends until one day I saw the waitress take a basket of leftover chips that the previous customer ate out of and stuck it back under the warmer without tossing out the leftover chips. As I recover from surgery, I always browse Uber eats for different varieties of food to eat.I remember years ago, my ex husband and I used to have lunch at Brite Spot and it was always good. It's been over 25 years and I remember the food being pretty good. I ordered basic chicken enchiladas. I was excited to try them. When I unboxed my lunch, they looked good, the guacamole was brown but underneath the brown it's green so I am assuming that when they sent the order out they were green but the color changed, no biggie, it happens. However, the rice was completely cold, the beans were warm and the enchiladas were sort of cold as well. Delivery time was about 20 minutes, they should have at least been a little bit warm being that they were in a styrofoam package. The enchiladas tasted OK. Not great, just average. There was no wow factor, the enchilada sauce was generic canned, the beans had no flavor and the rice also had no wow factor. I was so excited to try them and I did not really like them. Times have changed, I don't remember the enchiladas being this bland back then. By the way, I didn't finish them. I had maybe half of an enchilada, a spoonful of each of the rice and beans and tried the sour cream. Would I come back? I doubt it. Did it satisfy my appetite? Nope not at all. The good: Service was good. Free refills of aguas frescas. The seafood was passable & didn't taste fishy. The not so good: The place is drab and kind of forlorn and it comes across in the food. I ordered the 7 mares. The broth tasted exactly like the warm salt water you might gargle to deal with a sore throat. That's remarkable, because none of the flavor of the seafood seemed to seep into the water. It didn't taste like broth. Just warm salt water with a hint of red color. The tortillas didn't taste good. The prices were really high. With so many great restaurants in the area, there is no way that this place makes it back into the rotation. read more

A friend brought me here for the first time. This is not a chain restaurant. Everything is made fresh to order. Combos are reasonably priced. I really wanted a tamale, but they weren't ready yet at 1:00. I had a taco, enchilada, chili relleno, beans and rice. Service was very good. So was the taco. read more

We went there for dinner last night. Eight in our party. The waiter was fabulous and so accommodating! The food was incredible and very large portions. We had fajitas, burritos. Did not disappoint! This was by far one of those places that you have drove past so many times and you finally decide on stopping. Parking is in the back shares parking with about 2 different establishment's but by the looks I don't think it would ever get crowded. We walked in and there were a couple of people in the restaurant not more than 4 different parties. We literally sat there and waited about 10 min before we were even offered a menu. Finally when the waiter approached us we asked for a Michaela. By far the worst experience I have had in a long time restaurant was not kept up as in cleanliness and they sure really didn't pride themselves on customer service safe to say i will never go back service was so bad we paid and left. read more

I was in the area when I spotted this place. They had outdoor dining so I went for it. Staff was wearing a mask and gloves. The server quickly cleaned our table and took our order. She was nice and attentive. We ordered tacos and sope. The meat lacked in salt and the asada was super hard. My daughter also got French fries and they were soaking in oil. Gross!! I started eating at the location on Anaheim and Walnut in 2014. It was a favorite until it closed. Now I go to their restaurant on San Antonio Dr..Great food and service. Good parking. if I could this place 0 stars I would. This Mexican grill is a total letdown. The pozole tasted like it had been left out for days, and when I asked for a refund immediately after trying it and not liking it, they refused. The furniture was falling apart, and the staff were downright unfriendly and disrespectful. Not only was my experience disappointing, but my friends also had a terrible time. Their food tasted just as bad, if not worse. We all agreed that everything was downright nasty. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I ordered the carnasada taco hard shell and carnasada burrito to go. When I got home, the meat had hard bits,uneatable and soggy with guacamole and sour cream, which wasn't any better. The meat in both had hard fatty bits while eating. I had to discard them like they were hard pieces of plastic. That was the beef. Wtf! Don't go here they are using leftover meat from nights or days before I guarantee you. The sauces are watery and not flavored. I will not ever recommend, nor will I return here ever again. This restaurant used to be okay but now their food has changed to the worst, their customer service has also downgraded. I ordered some fajitas to go and they put everything in one box, the rice, beans, salad in the same box. When I got home everything was mixed up, as you can imagine it was nasty. I recently gave them another chance to redeem themselves but they failed again, I ordered a shrimp wet burrito and it was very shrimp, the sauce was different and did not taste good. When you have the taste for cammy Ronnie's, you just have to come to the Brite spot. It's so close we rode our bikes... Great food, Lupita is so kind and does a great job. She makes great micheladas. The only bad thing, is not really bad, but... They don't have any music.. They had some TV show called Noticias. I think it's like TMZ or something. If they had a jukebox, or some music going, we would have stayed much longer and would have bought more beers... Overall, great food, great service... Ice tea tasted like soap, it was horrible, there was rice in my chimichanga, it was not listed in the ingredients. The food was very salty, There was a screaming child that the family was telling the restaurant was calling the police to take her to jail if she didn't be quiet , it caused her to scream more. The mother grandmother and older sister spent a very long time screaming back at her, it was ridiculous. That's more of a parenting problem, but soapy tasting drinks suck, salty food sucks, the young man who sat us looked bored out of his mind, and did not offer to replace our soapy drinks we had to ask him for water, another mistake and to remove the ice tea because we didn't want to drink it, altogether we had a horrible experience there read more

The Bright Spot!! Oh yea I pass it and always am reminded to stop one day and get some Mexican food~ well folks...today is that day! We walk in starving at 11:30am on a Sunday and immediately notice 99% of employees and customers are speaking Spanish. I immediately decipher that having the superpower or Linguistics ability to communicate in Spanish would prove to be very helpful for the full Bright Spot experience but not a necessity for receiving the total gringo experience of the Bright Spot! Since my 2 years of High School Spanish left me with an ability to tell a Spanish speaking friend my name and also ask for theirs. I found pointing at pictures on the menu while I ordered was a workaround and a tip I am passing on to all enjoyers of good food and readers of reviews! I was a little under the weather and looking for some really good Chicken soup. I've ordered from other restaurants but they were bland and no vegetables. I don't live far and drive by Brite Spot all the time and decided to give them a try. I ordered the chicken soup, hoping it was close to the way I make it with lots of vegetables. So tasty. I walked into the restaurant, ordered a coke in a can and was charged 3.03 cents, my blood pressure was dropping and I needed something sweet stat. This place will never prosper, it's a pandemic and times are tough but you don't have to be so ambitious and do this to the customer. Had it not been a health issue related I would have not paid this price. I insist, the business like this will never flourish. Customers are not stupid and we never forget how we are treated. The cashier was embarrassed, I feel so bad for her, she's only doing her job. I told her it's ok, I'll pay it, it's for medical reasons. I'm in utter disbelief. read more

Update: service has deteriorated dramatically. No eye contact upon entering nor sense of urgency. The customer service is horrible.
