I don't usually like sweet tamales and was sure that I wouldn't care for the strawberry tamales, but I was curious. They're delicious! The prices are reasonable. Oustanding value. I've driven by this place many times, but the name made me think the food was Mexican-American. The food doesn't cater to a US palate. It's legit. The owners are a couple who are Honduran and Mexican. I tend to prefer food from southern Mexico, compared to northern Mexico, and this food reminds me of southern Mexican cuisine. read more

This restaurant will never get my business again. Their customer service is awful. I placed an order online. When I got to the restaurant, they could not find my order in the system. I showed them my confirmation and order number and they still refused to fulfill my order. They then proceeded to tell me that they stop cooking at 3pm, even though they don't close until 5pm. Therefore, they would not be able to fulfill my order. I walked away without my food and they did not offer me any concessions for the money I spent. They didn't even offer an apology. They made it seem as if it was my fault. In addition to that, their menu is not updated. A lot of items on their menu, including the pineapple and strawberry tamales, are not served at the restaurant. I am a very unhappy customer! read more

I really tried to give this place a second chance, but the experience has been consistently disappointing. Last year, we placed a large tamale order. Even though we arrived at our scheduled pickup time, our order wasn't ready because they had oversold and didn't manage their batches. They told us they would deliver the remaining tamales, but they never did--we had to drive back again (another 30+ minutes) to pick up what they forgot. And when we finally got the rest of our order, they still asked us for a tip. We assumed it was just a bad year, so we tried again this season and kept it simple with only a couple dozen. Unfortunately, the same issues happened again. There was a mix-up, and they didn't have one of the tamale types we ordered at all. After two years in a row of missing items, broken promises, and disorganized service, we're moving on. My go to tamale spot. I rarely go anywhere else now. All have a great flavor and moisture. Love the texture of them too. People working are always nice. So first off, we tried to order Christmas tamales on the 23rd and they said they weren't accepting any more orders so lesson learned for next year. So they said to come early in the morning (at 7am) to get what they had. We ended up forgoing the tamales for Christmas and went after Christmas. When we went to order, they had very little tamales left and it seemed they were wiped out from Christmas. They didn't know how many tamales they had and what kinds. We ordered a dozen and we got 11. It's definitely a small business trying to find its footing so I don't fault them for that. They only had spicy chicken and jalapeño cheese when we ordered so we got those. The masa is very flavorful and not overly cooked. The chicken was nicely shredded and tender. The cheese was a little...solid? Had a very chewy texture which I didn't love. We also got their green salsa (they were out of red) which was very tasty. All in all, really good tamales, a little shaky from a customer service standpoint but I'd definitely try it again next year, just order much earlier in advance. read more

Go. Here. I purchased the chicken tamales, and was told these are made with the house's custom masa, as opposed to commercial masa. Nice spicy kick to these, but not at all overpowering. The flavor of the chicken is so well infused into this moist packet of deliciousness, that I have to say this is one of the best tamales I have ever ingested. read more

We love going to Nehemia's for our Christmas tamales! We get a few dozen and gift them to friends and family and everyone raves about them. They are on Cherry and 55th in a strip mall, limited parking but there are some spaces! Highly recommend the pork with verde sauce, and the chicken with rojo sauce. The cheese is a must as well. I don't go out of my way to order them but will eat some if I am with friends or they are available and feel like eating one. My review is only on the tamales themselves . Was told by a coworker about this place so we purchase them and I actually love them! They happen to be some of the best tamales I've had and unsure why the other reviews say they take so bad. Diamond in the rough!!!! Man I love little spots like this. Good food that has that home cooked feel. Here is what I have had so far: Menudo = Fire AF! Huarache w/pastor = Fire AF! Pozole = Fire AF! Up front, the only reason this isn't five stars is because the television was very loud and made communication difficult. Although they didn't have the pineapple, Strawberry, or beef tamales advertised, I was very happy with the pork and chicken tamales. There was a good filling to masa ratio, they were moist but not sloppy, and very flavorful. The bean and cheese pupusas had scant filling, but they were perfectly cooked and had good flavor according to my son. The green sauce provided compliented the flavors, "perfectly matched" were the words he used. My asada taco was a bit tough, but had a good amount of meat and the tortilla was wonderful. The pastor taco was a bit spicy, but he enjoyed it. Can you tell that we didn't share plates this time like we usually do? I just ate 3 tamales not that long ago and it gave food poisoning. A couple hours later im feeling like gonna faint and got a fever. Ive been here a couple times and never got food poisoning. I went to this restaurant for the first time over 2 years ago. I was told they had great tamales and they do, with plenty of meat and large in size, not an abundance of masa. I have tried other items also, everything I've tried was good, always fresh, tasting homemade and never under/over seasoned or artificial tasting. The service was good and the owners are very pleasant. I get my order to go and have never eaten there, it's pretty small and I didn't find the ambiance comfortable. However, I have seen plenty of others eating there, especially around lunchtime. read more

Wish I could give no stars. I Called last night because I bought half a dozen tamales and 2 green out of 6 I bought tasted off, almost like the masa had gone sour. Anyway, I called and explained to Andrea the owner and she told me I should have brought them back that day. I told her not always can customers come back right after their purchase. She quickly got offended and told me there's nothing she can do and hung up on me. I call back because that's so rude. I tell her to not be rude and listen instead and she proceeded to yelling at me saying she's tired and to just come back tomorrow for a refund. Hangs up again leaving me speaking on the line. I call again- and this time tell her it was never about the money- I simply wanted to let her know that she did not sell me fresh tamales. I could tell they were old because the texture was off from the get go. She again yells and says she will Issue a refund, what else can she do she says and hangs up for the 3rd time. Smh, terrible customer service and on-top of that the place looks dirty and uninviting with all the chairs stacked up on the tables. I tried to support my fellow Mexican food vendors, but not with that attitude. As expected, I returned the next day and she refused to give me my money back because I didn't come in the AM, what?! I placed orders for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, both days I showed up at my appointed time and both times they did not have my orders ready and said they ran out. On Christmas Eve they told me to come back 5 hours later and filled my order. On New Year's Eve I was just out of luck and so were the other customers that placed orders that went unfulfilled. The woman at the counter said the owner took too many orders than they could fill. No apologies or anything. My phone number was on the order, how about calling and letting me know before I drive there. This is bad business!!
