New to Venice and on our discovery tour! First time but not our last Great find for our area. The Pub is friendly and inviting .we were greeted and seated promptly. The menu is diverse and lots of good selections And good beer selections as well We had Fish & chips. Noting the Great steak fries are fresh not oily but fantastic I had the steak Wellington it was awesome.we also had the meatloaf. The entrees were served quickly it wasserved piping hot and all ?our parties selections were excellent! I have had the salmon, chicken pot pie, and also I think the chicken pastie. All very good. The only dish I don't recommend is the steak tips (I think that was what they called it). the gravy was delicious, but a few pieces of meat were very gristly. Also, the desserts are gigantic. Extremely good value for the price paid. Well worth a visit if you are in town for a casual lunch or dinner. I'm pretty much a foodie from Los Angeles, visiting my in-laws. I was in the mood for fish n chips and found the British Open Pub. They have a variety of American, Irish, and English dishes. While I was disappointed that they didn't actually have fish n chips (they have shrimp n chips and chicken chips), I was able to satisfy myself with a blackened cod fish sandwich with coleslaw. Service was attentive and we are able to get through an entire lunch service in about 45 minutes. A few things to note: The entryway is very tight. If you are a larger person, you are likely to have a difficult time getting into the restaurant. The decor is a little random. While attempting to be British themed, they have an electric train running around the walls carrying Fosters beer (Australian). Prices are extremely reasonable. I'm a giant food snob. Giant. I actually came in here 6 months ago looking for a recommendation for another place. Ended up staying. Fell in love. Maybe it was lighting in a bottle, but it wasn't. This food is exceptional and exactly the same upon my return to Venice this week and British Open Tonight. Olivia at the bar recognized me at first sight and welcomed me and my wife. Food again 100% on point. That burger blend, omg but the chicken tenders I told my 22 and 18 year old about, that teased me for praising chicken tenders, are now true believers. We went for lunch on a .Sunday. my wife ordered a BLT with fries which was supposed to be with Brie cheese and mayo. The sandwich was so soupy that she ate half & decided to take the rest home as it was a mess. Got home and looked IN the sandwich and there wasn't any bacon. $16 for a BLT with no bacon? I ordered the cottage pie (shepherd's pie) for $18. There was a lighter (smaller version) available for $15. When it came I had to ask if they gave me the smaller version by mistake! It was bland. Service suffers on trivia night. We had to correct the beer order at the bar as the waiter insisted he brought the right beer...he didn't. Surprisingly good chip nachos. Good food, good prices. What could go wrong going out to dinner, well lots! You get a whole dollar off beer for happy hour, only apparently if the waitress deducts it. We ordered 6 wings and 12 were delivered. The waitress argued we said 12. The steak tips were raw, the onion rings were undercooked, they were out of mussels but other than that all was good, no food poisoning. read more

OK, it doesn't have beer at room temperature pumped from the basement, and the building is clearly younger than 200 years old. In every other way, though, this is the right experience. It had been ages since I last dined at this restaurant, but my friend Kathy suggested it, and I'm glad we went. Mo (Chris M) was our very attentive waiter and I must say he took very good care of us. Since it was still happy hour, we both ordered 2 glasses of wine to take advantage of that special price, and the servings certainly were generous. Mama and her friend Kathy were happy!!!! For a faux British pub in a mall, pretty darn good. Also, this happened on Friday the 13th at the height of the Coronapocalypse, so we must take the following into account: Food pretty good, I had Shepard's Pie, which was truly great. Beloved Companion had a delicious hamburger. It was very busy so we sat at the bar. Only disturbing incident: At one point, the bartendress was talking to an inebriated regular, they both yelled "F*** Coronavirus" and started high-fiving with excess physical contact. And then she continued to serve other customers, without visible handwashing Y'know, we all have to deal the current stuff in our own way, but not by flagrantly being quite so carefree front of so many witnesses. Terrible service and very poor attitude from waiter. We sat outside. The seating was not full and we had a very simple order. We were not difficult guests. The waiter was rude, sighed and rolled his eyes when I asked to try a sample of one of the drinks since it was something new. Then there was a long awkward silence and I ended up saying "nevermind" and ordered something else. It was very strange. A customer should not feel that way. If that is the policy to not give a sample is one thing, but he didn't say that was the case, he was just rude. He couldn't be bothered. Came here for the first time tonight for dinner with 2 other couples. We had drinks at the bar while waiting on our table. They have a good selection of draft beers and good service in the bar area. We were seated for dinner but one member of our party wasn't served until after everyone was finished eating. The waitress was unapologetic and frankly didn't seem to care at all. The manager came over while everyone was waiting for the final entree but was not helpful. The final entree finally came after everyone was finished, it was several day old meatloaf so we couldn't understand why it would take so long to serve it. Come here for the bar but don't stay for the bad food and poor service. read more

Had dinner here Saturday night and we ordered drinks which our server brought right away. I ordered the onion rings and shrooms appetizer and it was great and shared it with several people. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I ordered the Bangers and mash which came with three English Sausage and served on mashed potatoes with onion gravy! My husband got the Yankee pot roast and loved it. We attended their trivia night twice and decided to have dinner both times. The first time the meal of corned beef and cabbage was fair. We thought it might be an off night and tried the pub the following week. What a mistake. We ordered the roast beef and received a miniature pile of beef, an ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes and a spoonful of peas and carrots. The beef had a tablespoon of gravey. When we asked for more gravey, a miniature gravey boat with another tablespoon of gravey came out. The bill later showed we were charged an extra dollar for that pittance. The meal was not value priced either. The trivia was like none that we have ever attended. First, there are no prizes, not even a cheap $5 gift certificate. Next, you have no idea how your team is being scored during the contest, only a placing little at the end with no score on how many were correct. Lastly let's mention the cell phone cheating that was ignored or when an obvious wrong answer was pointed out to the moderator it was ignored (how many medals did Michael Phelps win?) Family friendly. A local social media group recommended this pub for a family with young kids. We struggle to find spots that are kid friendly at times. I love good draft Guinness , smithwicks , and Kilkenny if I can find if. We also enjoy some good Irish comfort food. Nice outdoor seating area. We sat inside. The entrance is a little weird but don't let it throw you off, you can sit at the bar area or a cozy and comfortably lit dining room. A mini train circles the main dining room carrying a couple Fosters beer cans. The girls loved it. It is a fun gesture. The waitress was prompt and very nice. We had the pub nachos with siracha pork and man were the crispers amazing. Perfectly fried homemade chips. The pork was amazing. I had the fish and chips and the fish was perfect and not too heavy. Decent steak fry for the chips. I added onion rings and they were amazing. Wife had the shepherds pie which I believe they called cottage pie. Very good flavor and nice mix. Kids had the Mac and cheese and tenders and they enjoyed. Fast food , good service and good atmosphere. My only critique would be portion size . I left a bit on the lighter side and we spent around $95 for two adults and two young kids. I had one beer. But when I'm eating comfort food I tend to eat once that day so maybe it was me. I would say I'm more accustomed to more for those prices. But all in all it was worth it. Nice spot with nice people. read more

Very very disappointing Full English Breakfast today On my plate and my husbands was 2 eggs 3 thin slices of tomatoes baked beans and half a slice of bread! When I asked he waitress where the bacon and sausage was which was advertised on the menu she said I forgot I will go back in the kitchen she came back with one sausage and a very thin round slice of Bacon! I said this isn't bacon she said we have run out of rasher bacon ! also was a very small portion of tinned mushrooms which were cold . I told her this is unacceptable she said I will get my manager she came and said I am sorry but we have a new cook! I then paid 32 dollars for 2 Full English breakfasts which was cold and disgusting. They just kept saying we are sorry! We will have a word with the cook ! I paid my bill plus left 20%tip . I would never recommend this English Pub to anyone ! sorry for this very bad review but it is so true. read more

This place was hopping for dinner on a Saturday night! I really wasn't feeling anything on the menu, everything seemed fried or very hearty so I went with a Cobb salad which turned out to be very filling and tasty. My sisters French onion soup was very bland and depressing but the meals are reasonably priced and the tab wasn't astronomical so that was a win! read more

Absolutely delicious cottage pie! My husband felt the same way about his Yankee pot roast. They had my husbands Smithwicks, so he was happy. This place is so good that we wish we lived here and could patronize it regularly. I saved room for the bread pudding and am I glad I did! It was as advertised. Chock full of raisins. The food was very bland and tasteless. I had the Scotch Eggs and was very disappointed. They brought out a nondescript brown gravy that had an unusual consistency to it. The steak and ale pie was over cooked and under seasoned. My wife did enjoy her Cobb Salad, but the sausage rolls she ordered were alright, but had more of that brown gravy. Our server, Adam was very strange. He talked to himself quite a bit and was borderline rude. It seemed we were bothering him when we asked for something.
