My fiancé had off work one night so we decided to go to dinner. We live in South Broad Ripple and wanted somewhere that was not too far. After so many times of passing Broad Ripple Brewpub and saying "We have to try this sometime!", we knew this was the night to make it happen. We were both craving a beer so it seemed perfect! We sat outside right away and ordered a refreshing draft beer called Cerveza de Sol which was a Mexican-style lager that we both really enjoyed. Lagers are one of my favorite beers, and this one was especially light. It really fits the name perfectly. We decided to pass on an appetizer because we wanted to be really hungry for our meals but if we had we would have gotten the wings. I would love to go back to try them someday! We love to do a splitzies where I ordered something and he orders something else and we split both. I decided on fish and chips and he got a burger with onion rings. I tried the burger first, and it was really good! I will admit that it probably is not what people go there for considering it's got more of an English Pub vibe, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it was good! The seasoning on the burger was tasty, but again it was nothing super special for a burger. The onion rings were really good. I was anticipating comically large rings as you get at most places, but these were more like shoestring onion rings which I actually like a lot more, so I was very pleased with these. The fish and chips were the start of the show in my books. I love fish and chips at most places, but I think this place specializing in English Pub food and feel make sure their fish and chips recipes were above satisfaction. The fish was perfectly breaded and cooked. The pieces themselves were pretty thick, but I don't think that's anything to complain about! The chips were also perfect. I was anticipating crunchy chips like you would get in a bag of chips, but I was delighted to see that they're more of a mix between a chip and a French fry. They were so good that my fiancé and I did finish those while we didn't finish the onion rings. The coleslaw that came with was great as well. I loved it especially because it has more of a vinegar taste than sweet, and it went perfectly with the fish and chips. But the REAL showstopper was the tartar sauce that accompanies the fish. When I wasn't given a lemon wedge, I was nervous that I wouldn't have enough acidity in my meal, but the tartar sauce made sure that was not the case. It had the perfect zest and dill flavor, and it was divine on the fish and with the chips! The atmosphere was lovely! There were dogs on the patio which always give me good vibes from a restaurant. I've been to Broad Ripple Brewpub twice, and each experience was average. If anything, you go for the prime location in Broad Ripple along the Monon Trail with a great covered patio. They're known for their Scotch eggs - can't say I'm a fan of the concept, but others tell me they are some of the best around! I enjoyed my Tahini wrap that I had for lunch. Good standard food, but nothing I'd rush back to get. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Brewpub is VERY vegan friendly and can accommodate lots of dietary needs and preferences. Since I've became vegetarian it's been really hard finding a good vegetarian restaurant to go to. My sister and I wanted to go out for lunch at a nice vegetarian/vegan restaurant and ended up here! The food was fantastic!!! But for it being our first time here, Kesha was not very communicative or suggestive...she wasn't that patient with us either. Being a former server myself and having to dealt with a service charge fee...I've always told my customer at the beginning of their meal about the server charge fee...when I was also given my original check the service charge fee wasn't on there either until she swiped my card...which didn't make any sense to me at all but I didn't say anything to her about it because maybe she thought she did...idk whatever the case may be I feel like your customers should be warn about the service charge fee is all. read more

Patio season is upon us! They have added additional seating outdoors to accommodate as many people as possible for outdoor seating! This is great for covid and for people that can't find patios with lots of seating! My latest crushes on food: onion strings & ghost pepper cheese. The onion strings are so crispy and delicious. We had the pictured quesadilla app with chicken and that was really good! My boyfriend had the meatloaf sandwich with fries and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I had the Tofu Yum Yum Sandwich and was really disappointed. The tofu was really wet and not crispy. Just FYI, sandwiches are defaulted with potato chips as a side, which makes sense for an English pub, but just make sure you order fries if that's what you're expecting. We had friends in town and decided on Broad Ripple Brewpub because of the variety in the menu. There was truly something for everyone. They have some great vegan or vegetarian options, and some great English options too. I ended up getting a pesto turkey burger with brie. So good! Everyone at our table was happy with their order. It is a smaller building so it did feel a little crammed, but we went on a weekend evening and it's clearly just well-loved! I'm sure the patio helps with this, but it wasn't quite warm enough yet when we went. The history of the brewpub is so special and it's really a hidden gem in the Broad Ripple community. read more

Awesome place!! Not only are they supportive of local fundraisers, they also offer the most splendid menu and service. I was pleasantly surprised with the place, since I had previously never heard of it. We drove up from Indy, and were immediately greeted with a large assortment of beers on tap as well as a menu of wide variety. Our friends across the table got the Mexican White Wings appetizer and after seeing them come out so delectable, our half of the table had to get our own. Chicken and jalapeño wrapped in bacon!! It hit the spot. I also got the drunken ravioli as my entree recommended by the waitress, a three cheese spicy deliciousness platter of pasta. My friends all thoroughly enjoyed our food, favorites being the fish and chips (the chips were so unique and soft? Very good). The brewpub burger came out very rare when asked for medium rare. Fun spot when it's warm because they have a small parking lot and area to dine outdoors and are dog friendly! The food is decent, I've had some not so great items and some very good items so it can be hit or miss somedays. I ordered the street corn and found it very runny and not cooked very well but their veggie stew was extremely hearty and tasty. Amazing food! We went because their menu online touted multiple vegetarian/vegan options, which we really appreciated. The vegan BBQ "chik'n" sandwich was AMAZING (be warned the jalapeños have a kick to them and even with the pineapple and bbq sauce it's pretty spicy, I love spicy so it was perfect for me), as was the vegetarian seitan "wings," and the ploughmans pub platter was gorgeous (fruit and veggie tray)! BR Brewpub is touted as a vegetarian/vegan haven. One look at the menu and I can see why: MOST dishes are vegetarian or vegan-friendly! That being said, I love the fact that they offer non-vegetarian dishes, just in case you have a companion who prefers meat/fish to the soy alternative. Let me start with the ambience: the patio is relaxed and inviting, reflecting Broad Ripple and its many offerings. A group of friends and I preceded our visit with some dessert at BRICS (I know, all twisted around but hey: who said there are rules)? After our order, I knew we didn't make the wrong choice. As a person with an affinity for starters, corn, and a notoriously small appetite, I went with the elotes- I'm not really a mayo fan anymore and cotija cheese isn't my cheese of choice, but this version uses queso blanco and a vegan mayo that cuts the indelible richness of full-fat mayo and makes your elote more balanced. For $3, it was a steal. I also split some nachos with a friend and while I've always looked for a spot with nachos that have the possibility of adding 'beef' (some soy version). These nachos are of a rare breed - the veggies speak for themselves. You don't even crave a meat substitute and they're MORE than filling. Needless to say, I'll be back- there are too many things left to try (did I mention they have a vegan tenderloin and vegan fish and chips)? For now, I'll live in the memories of perfect vegetarian nachos and some of the best elote I've had thus far. read more

As a former server, I can say with certainly that the Service was absolutely awful by the server Kesha. She got our drinks wrong, took 5 minutes to "seat us" and the place was empty (she pointed us outside). At one point in the meal she actually ran into my shoulder (clearly on purpose) because I was sitting a little out of the sun and she still had 5 feet to move around me. Sighed heavily multiple times. Never refilled our waters and then - icing on the cake - mistakenly added our bill wrong for 2 people and 3 total items. Again sighed at me for pointing this out - as if my fault? Just an awful disposition. BRBP should figure their server situation out ASAP. 2 stars because the food was decent. But this is 100% the last time I visit here which is sad because I live close. Why would I spend my money to get aggressively served? Needless to say her tip reflected her behavior. Kesha, I hope you work out whatever demons you have and you find some iota of professionalism in your line of work. My party of 20 made reservations here for a late lunch after we attended my grandmothers burial earlier that day. There was only one server and she appeared very overwhelmed. After taking drink orders she returned and had to yell out each drink to find the person that ordered it. This also occured when the meals arrived. I feel she could have been more systematic in her order taking to avoid self-confusion or management could have supported her by dividing the party 10/10 with another waitress. Both the drinks and the entrees arrived very spread out - she brought some (4-5 at a time) then returned later with another batch. She tried her darndest (and got a 25% tip) but she clearly needed help. I ordered the Bison burger and it was very overcooked (dry, far from some pink) despite asking for it to be prepared medium as their menu suggested and as I customarily order bison. It was also very salty that hid the normal sweet undertones of bison. Other members of the luncheon also had some less than impressed comments about the preparation of their entrees. Maybe it was a new cook or not enough kitchen help, I dunno. Their beers were very good and the Nice Weiss was definitely a stand-out - something I wish I could bring back to Cleveland. Imagine raw cabbage in lettuce size chunks, you can chew on that forever and three days and it doesn't add much flavor to anything. I feel a nice crisp Romaine would suit this salad much better. The chile in the dressing is a bit overpowering and you can barely taste the lime. However, the steak atop the salad was phenomenal. cooked perfectly and incredibly flavored. My daughter had a BLT that used coconut flakes that had been flavored and colored to look like bacon! They also had vegan mayo that they put on the side for her. She was thrilled to find a place that had more than a single vegan option and was not just a vegan burger. I had a regular BLT which was good although I had asked the waitress if I could substitute sourdough for the rye bread and she said sure. However, I was delivered rye. The onion rings were amazing. I wanted something different than tacos on Tuesday, so I decided I would visit Broad Ripple Brewpub for their Scotch Eggs and a BLT! Little did I know that I would enter a zone of disorganization and a vibe of annoyance coming from the front of house staff. (Overheard a server say that they were happier when they were not busy.) The hostess let us know that it would be a 30 minute when we approached the stand, which was perfectly fine. It was almost 30 minutes on the dot when our name was called to be sat. We were taken to our table and this is where the experience ended. Two servers walked past our table 3 times and did not acknowledge that there were two people sitting with menus waiting to at least order a beverage. The more unfortunate part of this is that 3 others tables had been sat after us and had the opportunity to engage with their servers and begin the ordering process. After approximately 15 minutes, we decided to get up and return our menus to the hostess. She apologized and said that she sat us in a section where a server was still working, but wasn't sure why no one ever came over to us. We thanked her for being polite and left to get something else to eat. I won't ever get those 45 minutes back and yes, I ended up eating tacos on Tacos Tuesday. read more

I have never posted a Yelp review in my life; however, this experience compelled me. I love this place! I have loved this place for almost 20 years. They have the best scotch eggs and their vegan assortment is fantastic; however, something has happen to the service at this restaurant that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This evening, I went to Brewpub around 7:00pm. They were busy, and it was fantastic to see. I haven't seen that many people enjoying their outdoor patio since pre-Covid. I was greeted with a less than enthusiastic host that immediately let me know it was a 30 minute wait. Fine. I will definitely wait for the food and drinks. Not a problem. Once I was sat, my guest and I looked over the drink and food menu to expedite the order since they were so busy. We sat there for 10 minutes without any acknowledgement. It was frustrating, but understandable: they were busy. However, we watched three tables seated after us, all large parties, get waters, drinks, and one even put in their order, and we weren't even acknowledged by a server. The worst part was, all of these tables were in our section. I watched a server clean the table 2 feet from us and walk by us several times without any sort of "has anyone been to your table yet?" I did, however, get privy to one server complaining about how busy the place was and that he wishes it could go back to pandemic levels of seating. After a total of 15-17 minutes of no acknowledgement, we left. We brought the menus back up and explained no one had been to our table. We received, "I'm sorry, I told someone you were sat." At that point, I didn't need an explanation or excuse. We were sitting 3 tables down from the host, so it's not like no one saw us sitting there. It's disheartening to know that customers that rave about this place to friends from out of town have to walk away with such a terrible experience. Inside is super nice and has the feel of a old British pub, pretty quiet also and had some sports on the TV. We were sat down and waited about 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order, food came out after another 15 mins. We had the pretzel with beer cheese. Pretzel didn't have any flavour and the beer cheese tasted like a glass of beer with a cheese taste, not nice. We also had the nachos. The tortillas chips hadn't any flavour and the cheese on top was hard and chewy. The house made salsa also was like water with little to no flavour. 2nd time we have tried and probs won't be returning for food. Atmosphere is nice for a drink though! read more

I must point that the silly addon charges for everything that should be included with these types of meals runs against the grain especially when the brews are fiercely priced upwards leaving little left for us common folk to spare towards another round. Rhapsberries in full swing and lively sparkle, sadly off-putting to some who avoid such beer styles, I'm a huge fan of that Urban Artifact!
