We took a quick day trip to Big Bear Lake to catch a little snow before the big storm and asked some locals for food recommendations. First question they asked us: "Do you like burgers?" Yes. Immediate yes They sent us to Broadway Café, and it did not disappoint. It's just past the Village, right off the main road by the lake, with easy parking on site. There's a small outdoor patio (great for pets or groups) and a cozy indoor space (only like 3 or 4 tables inside). The staff was incredibly friendly, especially the girl at the register, who was such a gem. You can see the chef in the back cooking, which is always a good sign. We ordered two burgers and fries to share, and wow... the burgers were HUGE and super filling. The fries were freshly made and hit the spot with a little salt and ketchup. Best part? We spent under $30 for both of us. Affordable, delicious, and great quality. Fun Broadway-themed décor too, especially if you love theater vibes. Highly recommend if you're visiting Big Bear and craving a solid burger spot.

Amazing first experience here. Very cozy atmosphere, super friendly people, and the food was really delicious. You can tell they care about both the service and the vibe of the place. This was my first time visiting Broadway Cafe, and I'll definitely be stopping by every time I'm in the area for business or nearby. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to coming back again.

I thought everything was pretty good, but I get the most basics of breakfasts (scrambled eggs with a side of avo). I did try their blueberry pancake which was yummy! Hubby got a salad with chicken and a burger the two times we've been. He was like it was "okay." Service is friendly, but slow, but I think it's just the mountain-lake vibe, a lot of restaurants in BB seem to be lacking the urgency us impatient city folks are used to.

We drove by this place and decided to give it a shot... They only have three table tables on the inside but they have outside seating and a deck. It has a really great vibe and ambience inside with very friendly staff and really excellent food I had a bagel sandwich very good! Vegetarian options too. Highly recommend

Staff is super friendly. Came originally for the lattes... the house made syrups are the best, but they are seasonal! Comes in a huge cup. Breakfast burrito was sopo good esp with the green salsa it comes with. The pancakes are also really fluffy and tasty with the butter, didn't even need all the strawberry sauce, but good if you're a sweet tooth. Will be back

Food was yummy and filling, though nothing exceptional. Inside the restaurant is small and cozy, and they also have outside dining. It's a great place to stop on your way to or from snow tubing. I'd recommend!

We've been to the Broadway Cafe before, and it was very good. This time it was just ok. Our server was great. We sat on the patio. We had our puppy with us and she was so kind to him. We ordered our food and she told us about the doggy menu. We ordered a burger patty for our dog and a Pup Cup. I ordered the BBBBQ burger with fries, my wife ordered the Loco Moco and chili tots. The drinks came out quickly, but the food took a while. My wife really liked her Loco Moco. Runny egg, well seasoned patty and lots of gravy. The tots were half covered in a dry chili with beans, and their oil was old or dirty. The tots had the lingering taste of bad oil. My burger was large, but very dry. The patty was over cooked and dry. The bun was toasted and dry. There was an onion ring in it that didn't help. I wound up ripping off the edges of the buns and eating the center of my burger. They were having an off day in the kitchen. We'll be back to have a burger another time.

This was my lady's and my first time ever coming here and it was an amazing experience. My lady and I both got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was beyond delicious. Food was authentic, iced coffee was delicious, and waiters were beyond friendly. Highly recommend.

It appears tiny but they maximize space by utilizing the upstairs and every inch is decorated with rustic pieces and the smell of coffee and pastries fills the air. Lines can sometimes reach out the door because the coffee and food is good, but the service needs work. I waited for my one coffee (a vanilla latte) for close to 30 minutes. My food order was also incorrect, but that took even longer so I wasn't about to change it. The baristas and cashiers work hard, but I'm afraid they are greatly understaffed and it takes forever to get coffee or food. All the workers seemed very stressed out and it took away from the happy environment on the inside. Maybe I came on an off day, so I hope to try it again in the future with a better experience.

Patty greeted us when we came in the door and said we could sit wherever we wanted. She was lovely, very attentive and helpful. Her sister owns the place. She even gave us scads of recommendations for other local places to try and things to do. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with a side house salad while I got the scallop fettuccine dish and splurged the $3 extra to get their Caesar salad (totally worth it, made in house). Everything is made to order and each dinner came with a board of homemade bread and house made butter for the table. Folks. That bread. Was So Good. Soft and tasty and the parmesan, garlic, parsley butter melted right on it. There was something that didn't hit my palate right on my dish, so Patty offered to get me something else. I decided against that (because the scallops themselves were stellar) but I agreed to some extra Alfredo sauce to mellow out the flavors in the pasta, which worked great! When she learned it was our anniversary, Patty gave us a slice of cheesecake on the house the likes of which I have never tasted before. I don't order cheesecake often, but this was beautifully creamy and sweet. If you want to support local businesses, I highly recommend Jakobe's. They're good people who cook great food and care about their community. SUPPORT LOCAL! DON'T LET THE CHAINS WIN!

You're fine, its also for patrons of the Cookshak. Next follow along around the side of the lodge into the backyard area and you'll come across a concrete patio w benches and tables. Order from the window and take your food to eat out on the back patio. The menu is different from what you can find on these Yelp menu photos so expect the prices to be a lot higher than two years ago, but prices are way higher everywhere from two years ago. I ordered a one item plate w two sides thinking I might not have ordered enough food but boy was I wrong. The sides portions are huge, the cornbread is huge, and the meat filled me up. The beans here are a spicy chili bean type that went great on top of the corn bread. The slaw was very good and the mac n cheese was reminiscent of kraft mac n cheese only w/ the addition of pepper and a sharper cheese flavor giving it a memorable taste. The potato salad was decent, potatoes prolly coulda been cooked a tiny bit longer but the rest of the salad tasted good. The star of the show was the brisket. You will get a slice or two near the end that might be cooked thru a little too much for my liking but the majority of what you get is melt in your mouth deliciousness. The honey mustard sauce they offer is perfect to dip the well done slices in but the juicy slices go great unassisted. I originally picked this spot because the other popular bbq spot nearby didn't open until 3 but I am glad I picked this spot because the food left me satisfied for the rest of the day and left me w a smile on my face afterwards.

And honestly, getting a poke bowl at Big Bear woul not be my first choice of dinner, but this might be our go to place from now on! The kids love it, adults love it, food is great, vibe is A+, plenty of tables, and all the staff we've encountered are very nice, friendly, and helpful. Our party had little ones that needs stroller and high chair and this place is definitely accessible and accommodating for all ages. They were even kind enough to notify us to go ahead and grab a dining table with our stroller as you have to place the order via a self serve tablet. They also serve alcoholic beverages! Basically after you order, they'll call your name with a Hawaiian groovy twist to it, and you grab your own utensils, napkins, and water on a separate area. And then off to enjoy your food. They have 3 different dining areas, out on the patio, inside dining with varying table sizes, chairs, and booth, and a backyard with a nice enclosed grassy area with standing tables only. Again, the vibes here are really great! So detailed and unique! So the food, we ordered the Cuba and the Krakatoa, both have white rice with tuna but different mixture of sauces. Both bowls were delicious and tuna was cut into little cubes and are fresh! We ordered the grilled teriyaki rice for the kids that came with a mayo dipping sauce and pickled pineapple with a bit of a kick. The teriyaki sauce and chicken was well cooked and the taste were delicious! Our kids devoured their plates. This was definitely a great spot for poke when you're in the Big Bear area! Also, they present their laurels of achieving top status among all poke restaurants in the United States per Yelp. That naturally prompted me to compare their poke to others I had elsewhere. I got the pele bowl: ahi tuna topped with cucumbers, sweet onions, and a spicy sauce over rice. The poke was delicious and had a nice texture with just the right degree of chewiness. Each tuna piece tasted refreshing with the lightly spicy sauce. The bowl probably could've had a larger portion size for the price, but it was still solid. Due to the restaurant's popularity, Tropicali maintains an almost perfect rating with its thousands of reviews, but I still feel that I've had better poke in Oahu. Customer service was great. One staff member was enthusiastic and friendly; he showed us that we could order drinks online while we wait in line for food. When your orders are ready, someone using the restaurant's sound system affectionately announces that your food has "washed ashore." I also saw staff members having fun conversations with other customers, so I was glad with the overall friendliness. The restaurant ambience is highly decorative with a Pacific Islander theme. A shark's mouth acts as a provocative entrance to the restaurant, but the atmosphere is laid back and fun. Bustling with customers, it's a nice place to eat with friends and family. Unfortunately, in my experience, the restaurant lacked in cleanliness. Our table had a view of Big Bear Lake. However, we saw a few ants on the table along with small bugs by the windows. It seemed that they should have more frequent cycles of cleaning as many people visit here to eat. However, it did look like one staff member had a towel to wipe tables after we had left. Overall, I'm surprised that the Yelp community's favorite poke restaurant lies in Big Bear Lake. It's not convenient to arrive here, so I ponder why and how the restaurant has thousands of high reviews. Nonetheless, I can say that Tropicali serves the best poke I've ever had in Southern California. However, I was sadly surprised that our tables weren't the cleanest. In good faith, I cannot write this restaurant the five-star review so many others have given.
