What I think makes this a four star place is that the people were so darn nice. I mean, from the moment we parked, people outside started chatting us up. Then when we entered, it felt like the entire bar, not just the workers, but the people eating and drinking all said hi. We came in on Dec 30th and on New Years Eve. Stopped for food and a lot of drinks. The food wasn't anything special but it was a lot better than we expected given the time of the day and how dark it looked from the outside. We didn't expect it to be lively but it was about a solid 20 people there. I'd say it can fit about 40 people solidly since there's a back pool area, a few bar stools and 7-8 tables with 4 chairs at each. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken which had a sweet and spicy vinegar which was delish. It also was topped with slaw and pickles. I wished it had more of the vinegar. And we ordered the cowboy burger which had pepper jack cheese, fried pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños and hot sauce. With food and a couple of drinks it came out to about 70 bucks which came out really cheap. It's a bit divey the bar but most places I feel like are like that here. Theres a pool table and an electronic jukebox (where you can download the app and choose your music that you want to be played at the bar). They have only a couple of bottles of beer to select from and no drafts. But they have a decent selection of liquor. Not the brightest of lit places but you won't be squinting to see. There's a parking lot and street parking available.

My bf and I shared the Triple Bypass burger. It was good, and big enough to share and fill us both.

Great neighborhood bar! We had a couple great experiences when coming here to stay at an Airbnb and it was walkable to our place. Erin was amazing and super helpful. She had amazing service and the food was so good. The drinks were great too! On a Friday night, there was karaoke but overall a fun atmosphere!

It was calm on a Friday afternoon. Staff were friendly and service was fast. We ordered Stella, pine apple juice, Southern Belle (yummy!), kids corn dog bites, Kallan's burger (with chicken) and burger from hell (very spicy! They were out of their XXX sauce so we had the buffalo sauce instead). The burgers came with a choice of fries or salad. Everything was delicious and portions are generous! Recommended!

Sampler appetizer: mozz sticks, fried zucchini, chicken strips and wings

Love this place, everyone is super friendly and haven't had anything I've tried dissapoint. The sampler appetizer is bomb and is big enough for 3 people in my opinion.

The only reason this place is getting 1 star is because our waitress was very friendly and the food was pretty good. We were staying close by and wanted a nice casual dinner. We walk in and are told that they are sold out of about 6 dishes off their menu despite it being 7:30pm. I'm sorry but how is a bath sold out of buffalo wings, sampler platters on a Friday night? I didn't get the impression they had just had a big wave of customers either. Either way we decided to try the Texas loaded fries and buffalo and Swiss chicken sandwich with a side salad. Once we got our food we see that instead of the salad we ordered they gave us fries; our waitress fixed it quickly. I ordered an iced tea that tasted like tap water that had a tea bag sit in it for about 30 seconds. We also wanted a cocktail. I'm a margarita girl so that's what I looked for and was extremely disappointed when the only tequila based drink on their specialty cocktail menu was called "Border Jumper". As a Mexican-American I find that extremely insensitive and offensive; and I usually don't take things so seriously. However pair that with the fact that their electric jukebox has every single genre of music that is of people by color blocked it's hard to overlook the fact that this place clearly is of a certain mindset. Will not be coming back nor recommending this place to anyone.

    Asada fries (a bit salty)
    Corey C.

The Cheeseburger was delicious, but a little salty for my taste. The sprite was also good. The nachos were beautiful and filling, just wish the jalapeños were sliced a little thinner. The Asada Nachos were also a shareable portion size, but a bit salty. The atmosphere was great 4.5 stars for EVERYTHING I'm coming back again here hopefully

Our waitress, Jax was amazing.. so friendly and attentive! Food was delicious. Perfect little local joint for homemade style burgers and fries! My kids got the asada cheese fries and loved them, as well. Will definitely come back our next time in town.

Super cool bar/restaurant. They have a pool table and pacman and other games. There's also a jukebox and a fireplace. Really cute place during winter to visit. It's not near the rest of Main Street shopping area so it's a hidden gem! Parking is okay. If you go during drinker hours it might be a little more packed. Waitresses and bar tender were very open with any changes and requests. The drinks are really strong so be mindful. If you're into shorts there were tvs on with different sports playing. As for the food: I had the chicken sandwich. They usually dip it in buffalo sauce but I asked for the sauce on the side and honey. If you know or follow me then sweet and savory is where it's at. I really enjoyed it. I asked for ranch on the side as well and bae asked for sauces as well for his bbq burger and onion rings. Honestly, can't wait to go back!

First time here, let's check it out. Hangry kids in tow.

First time here It was a nice change of pace from the chaos in the village and near the slopes. We got seated right away. The burgers were good and the fries satisfied! The well drinks were $8. Pool table for adults only.

For years now, we have planned my annual bday trip and April getaways to Big Bear Lake with Lumberjack Cafe ensuring a spot first on every itinerary. Honestly we look forward to sitting inside or outside this cafe just as much as the actual vacation itself. What makes this place truly magical is the people. Alecia is hands-down the best server we have ever had anywhere...PERIOD. Over the years she has transitioned from a familiar face to a dear who even remembers my order (I'm going to have to start switching it up more lol). Seeing her daughter, Aleka, carry on that same legacy of amazing, warm service that makes it feel like watching family grow. The food is consistently phenomenal and mouth-watering. My absolute must-have is the chocolate chip waffle which is packed with flavor, though the eggs Benedict is a very close second (they should market that Hollandaise sauce). My husband tries a variety of dishes and every single item he orders is a home run! Because they close at 2pm it is the ultimate neighborhood breakfast spot. As mountain visitors, we sometimes worry about how our favorite local spots survive the unpredictable winter seasons and we pray for this business to prosper for decades to come. If you are a traveler visiting Big Bear, you absolutely need to eat here. It will elevate your mountain experience, and like us, you will find yourself returning every single time you come back to the area. Thank you to Alecia & the entire Lumberjack Cafe Family/Team whose hard work and heart are quite apparent in every aspect of running a beloved local establishment. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, tasted homemade, and arrived hot and fresh. The staff was warm, welcoming, and working incredibly hard. As a bonus, they're genuinely dog-friendly. We were able to enjoy breakfast with our pup on the patio, and they even have a dog menu. That's not just "dogs allowed"--that's a business that goes the extra mile. Somewhere along the way we've confused "not instant" with "bad service." We expect fresh, made-to-order food from small businesses to appear with fast-food timing, then punish them when it doesn't. Patience has become a lost art. If you're in a hurry, there are plenty of drive-thrus. We waited according to your instructions and schedule. We were told many different wait times every time we followed up and asked. The time kept getting longer and longer when there were no other parties waiting but us. First we were told 30mins, then literally minutes later it changed. Then an additional 20mins added. Then, 30. Then we waited, and it changed again. They kept telling us it would be longer and longer. Why would the time go backwards? A small gilled cheese sandwich for an hour? One order. You can ask any business owner or any place outside of your small town that it is a ridiculous wait time for a customer to wait for that long for one small sandwich. Instead of arguing back with your customers, a decent thing to do would have been to apologize and just have accommodated the sandwich just for having us almost an hour of waiting without even getting in. So it's been a long time since we've been to Thelma's. We just recently bought a place up here and…read moredecided we would make sure we hit all of the breakfast places again so we come up with our morning favorites. I was quickly reminded why I gave this place a five out of five stars back in July 2021 during the heat wave. Their service is outstanding and their food is amazing!. The big difference this time was instead of it being in the 90s. It was in the low 40s. But that didn't stop the amazing service and the outstanding food. I ordered the Machaca. It didn't come like a traditionally get in LA, but it was outstanding. A big portion of eggs, onions, and beef along with a wonderful side of refried beans with cheese on top. The Machaca was topped with a nice salsa. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast and every bite was outstanding. The wife ordered scrambled eggs, pancake, and sausage, & sausage patty, it was the senior breakfast. She said everything was amazing. The pancake was fluffy tasted great. The eggs were cooked to perfection. Not those hard eggs it looked burnt on the side, but eggs that were cooked to point. Great food. The service was also outstanding as always. Your restaurant had a good flow of customers coming and a number of them picking up orders to go. This will definitely be on our breakfast stops while we're up visiting the mountain. Thank you for the outstanding service.

We ordered the pecan cinamon roll French toast and country style eggs Benedict with an English muffin on the side. We had been told the French toast came with a side, so we ordered bacon on a whim although we didn't really want a side. The country style Benny was good. The French toast wasn't great, and just seemed to be made from store bought white bread with pecans sprinkled on top. We received the English muffin and took a bite in it and spit it out immediately realizing it had been sent out with a big section covered in mold. We also received the bill and saw we were charged an extra 5.50 for bacon we were told came with the meal. The staff gave us a dessert for the mold but it was just very, very off-putting.
