First impressions were pretty good. Had dinner which turned out pretty swell. Yelped and found a few of their popular dishes and tried a few. The decor definitely felt warm and cozy. Warm mood lighting. Fancy-ish decor in total. Small bar wedged in near the door but what stood out was the giant projection of the NFL game on the screen next to the band stage... AWESOME... Lol. We tried the prime rib. Pretty juicy. I ordered rare she ordered medium well. Pretty juicy but I've definitely had better, ie: House of prime rib. Even the rare wasn't as juicy as other places. Good flavor tho. Au ju was on the side as well as the horse radish. Which they only had one kind offered. Prime rib was sided with mash potatoes which were good, and a all salad. All on one plate. For sure filled us up. Dessert we had the Apple pie and ice cream sandwich. The ice cream sandwich was very MEH. The cookie was rock hard and not enjoyable to eat. The ice cream and whipped cream were good though. The Apple pie definitely still the show for us. Served with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Soooooo good. In all would we come back? Maybe not. I give Broadway Grill 5 stars for the service, and for the decor, though only 4 for the food. It's good but not "5-star Great." For example, the chicken on one occasion was a little dry. They do seem to be light on the salt, which is not actually a bad thing. The portions are nicely sized and the presentation is good. All the deserts we've tried have been great. We'd gotten Broadway Grill as a recommendation from friends and have now been there both for late lunch and for dinner, and in each case the service was absolutely first rate. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and fast. The service alone is a reason to come back. The interior is open and spacious and they have live music several nights a week, though we haven't been there during a music night. There is an upstairs area they use for groups and special events as well. I'm not a drinker, but my wife was quite pleased with the specialty drinks she tried on different visits, and they have a selection of interesting beers. Was pleasantly surprised to find selections from Poland and Lithuania, as well as a number of interesting choices from Germany and here in California. Parking in this area can be a little tight at times, but there are a couple of public lots within short walking distance if you can't find parking on the street. Broadway Grill is the way to go for any event! During the process of booking and choosing the menu with Kristin the events manager was flawless. She made sure to tailor the menu to our needs and what we wanted our guests to have. During our Luncheon our guests consistently complemented the food in which we had for our apps a Caesar salad and rye bread which is delicious! For entrees we had chicken kebabs, steak, chicken fettuccine, seasonal veggies, mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The staff was super friendly and ensured we were being taking care of. Party of 4 celebrating early Valentine's Day, had a wonderful dinner at Broadway Bar & Grill on Feb 10, 2024. Food, servers, and ambiance are all outstanding (exceptional), and with the live music (jazz pianist and bass player), made the evening so festive and fun. We ordered Caesar salad, Brussel sprouts to start, entrees were mushroom ravioli, trout x2, and salmon - all were outstanding and large enough for sharing. The trout, in particular, is exceptional - very large portions and delicious. Then, apple crumble topped with vanilla ice cream for desert, shared among all 4. The restaurant offers live music performed by top notch Bay area musicians and singers on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights - the jazz duo pianist and bass players at our dinner were terrific. We really enjoy the live music by top notch musicians and singers. We have now eaten at this restaurant multiple times over the past year, each time has been wonderful. Prices are very reasonable, very high quality food, and live music. This is a very "sophisticated" restaurant. We were so glad to find this very nice restaurant wandering in the downtown of Burlingame one Friday night. Although, we do eat out often, we appreciate different cuisines and take on challenges cooking ourselves. We fell in love with this place right away. The location (public parking close by), the menu (some unique appetizers and entres not to be found in any other place, like black rye garlic bread) the excellent service and live music. They even have a room upstairs for private parties. We will definitely visit Broadway Grill often. Had our company holiday dinner here, and enjoyed the vibes of broadway grill. They have nice live music going on, though it can be a little too loud. At times, I felt like I was yelling when talking to my coworkers directly across from me. The restaurant is well decorated, and loved that they had a Santa outside the restaurant for photo ops. We had a limited menu to choose from, so I went with the prime rib and sorbet for dessert. We had a variety of appetizers and my favorites were definitely the calamari and the cheesy garlic bread ! Yummy! My disappointment with broadway grill had to be my prime rib. I got it medium rare and it was cooked well. But had to say over 1/3 of my steak was all fat. My coworkers who got their steak medium or medium well said it was way too overcooked. We were all disappointed by their steaks. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were a nice touch. Food was subpar. I needed a place where me and 14 family and friends could dine & safely celebrate my 55th Birthday. I called a week before & I started working with the owners who are Husband and Wife. They set me up with the upstairs private dining room. Normally when there's a large group in a private dining room the menu is set & limited & you cannot split checks The owners Asta ( who handles the day time) and Ziggy ( who works the evenings) made exceptions to allow us to order from the menu, order appetizers for the table ahead of time, & provide entree selections for some of my guests ahead of time. We had a dedicated waiter- Mo- not only did Mo have our bills identified by the names of my guests, he got our orders right! Kept track of our drink orders and worked the room and table solo! Their service and hospitality, made my birthday celebration even more enjoyable. At the end of the night, they even gifted me with a bottle of wine! I highly recommend the Broadway Grill for your next get together or just a casual night out. I cannot forget to add that the food was awesome! WE WILL BE BACK read more

Apart $500 gift certificate on November 20, 2021 I decided to go over there and try their food before I give the gift certificate to friends and family for Christmas present Upon arrival I had a single table and I ask for the wine California the only offer me French wine and I order appetizer and New York steak which on the menu says is 14 ounce and when I Received New York steak was no more than 8 ounce over french fries which is European style and Hi thought I'm going to restaurant that they advertise as American tradition steakhouse I asked for the bill to pay with my gift certificate which they did not honor their gift certificate Waiter who he introduce himself as one of the owner he tore down my gift certificate and he said we do not honor the gift certificate as of December 1 and I was shocked and very upset over what he said and I still have about $425 worth of their gift certificates in my hand This was not ethical or right way of saying that no longer except their own gift certificate .which is way wrong and upsetting. As far as the food was overcooked very skinny New York steak and they charge $45 for that steak I can go to Ruth Chris they charge the same price much more and better quality and service I really don't know what to do with my other $425 gift certificate. it's just not right Please when you go to Broadway Grill restaurant do not buy any hue certificate and make sure your steak is 14 ounce which is says on the menu If I've any way I can rate this restaurant even one star is too many read more

Had a so-so experience four years ago, and hadn't come back since. Decided to try it again today to see if anything had changed. Learned that there's a new owner now for the last three years. Wow! What a great place! A true neighborhood gem. Perfectly made martini, and a nice split of French Champagne to start. We had the Market Salad (delicious), the New York Steak and the Filet Mignon. Ordered medium rare, it came out cooked to perfection with a slight crunch to the exterior. The potato and vegetable sides were also cooked to perfection and tasty. Dessert was the bread pudding with a Sauternes. Also excellent. Service was attentive, professional, and friendly. A live music trio performed to add to the ambience. I highly recommend this restaurant. The entire experience today was superb. I'm looking forward to returning very soon. read more

Remember 1984? Found it. Sure I like the 80s. I strolled in with my Stan Smith's and Ray Ban's on. My 80s fashion was met with their 80s decor and menu at 2017 Burlingame prices. Want a $15 burger? Want a $19 salad? I can't review those, but I'll tell you what I ate. I ordered a tritip sandwich and NYE firecracker shrimp. I was asked how I'd like the tri tip, which was irrelevant since it was clearly overcooked in the first place. In other words it did not arrive medium rare, but at least it came in pita bread! Yup, 1980s move at its finest. Remember, we thought anything in a pita was healthy because of the recent explosion in falafel places. Same went with firecracker shrimp, served on micro greens so it must be fancy, right? Right? Anyway, old, gray overcooked meet in a pita. Perhaps it depends on the day you order? Perhaps people like it that way; thick cut rubbery meet? They do go for the "comfort foods" here, chicken pot pie ($19) and meatloaf ( not sure of the price but I'm sure around $20). Not a great sandwich and as you can see from the picture, burnt fries. Their oil was too hot. Fine inside, dark brown outside. I don't think we were asked about the side even... It just came with fries. Let's talk about wrapping food in wontons. This could work. Not when it's wrapped two or three layers... But I thin, crispy wonton wrap would have been nice. Instead I got a doughy couple of millimeters between the crispy outside and giant prawn... Again the oil may have just been too hot. Guess I'll throw in the fact that my plate was dirty upon being sat down and the $10 bloody Mary was small. Up it to $12 and serve it in a pint glass. You're already overcharging, might as well serve $12 bloodies. Anyway, found no reason to return I guess is my prognosis. With so many stellar places to eat in San Mateo, Burlingame and Millbrae, why shoot for 1980s metiocre? PS, the wait staff and bussers have to wear vests and ties - oh so fancy, rationalizes those prices, right? Even though the chairs are in bad condition and the upholstery in the booths is...well.....80s. Anyway, the place promises more than it delivered IMO. read more

Overpriced Disappointing Steaks, Terrible Service, & Dirty Restaurant. My auntie really wanted to come here and check this place out. So we made a small family outing to eat here around 5:30pm we made reservations for 5. Upon arrival when we first went in we weren't greeted at all, keep in mind the restaurant is basically empty still since they open at 5pm. On top of this, there was this goey substance that trailed from the entrance carpet to the outside of the restaurant and they didn't even bother to clean it up before opening the restaurant, so me and my whole family had this syrup substance stuck to the bottom of our shoes for the rest of the night. They did however roll up the carpet after we pointed out that the carpet was dirty. The serviette or table napkin that we had were linty and worn out and I felt disgusted that I had to put my mouth on this. You would think they change it out when it looks like it's 10 years old. Once seated the server was was prompt to take our orders. NOTE: if you come with kids they don't have a kids menu they just tell you what they offer for kids. The menu is quite small and simple, but the food's descriptions sounds better than it actually tastes. Throughout the meal, the server never came to refill our waters. We had to flag a server down just for water and the restaurant was basically empty. When they did arrive they pointed at the water pitcher behind our booth as if we should have known it was there, and served ourselves. We ordered 3 filet mignons, a Ribeye, and chicken tenders with fries for my little cousin. THE QUALITY of the meat was absolutely awful. You can literally go to Costco and buy steaks and make it at home for half the cost and have way better quality. I've had better quality meat even bought from Safeway. This was really disappointing given that fact we paid about $44 dollars for each-steak. The sides of veggies/onion bulbs for the steaks were dainty and flavorful, I did however liked the smoke taste that the steaks did have but other than that it was disappointing. The side of sweet potato fries that we ordered were actually pretty good, but I wouldn't come back here for just fries. One of my family members thought the kids meal was more pleasant than their steak. Overall, I would never back here again. I'm surprised they make any revenue given the quality of their food and price for it. read more

Took my mom here for Mother's Day and got seated upstairs. Started off with the Monterey Bay fried calamari, crab stuffed mushrooms and ahi tuna nachos. All of it was good, not great. Some of the calamari was chewy. I ordered the standard cut prime rib medium rare. It wasn't bad. Pretty good but not as tender as I'd like. I had a taste of the Cajun ribeye someone ordered and I should have ordered that. It was pretty good. All in all, it wasn't a bad place. Service was good. The live music was awesome. The lighting and ambiance was inviting. The place felt very clean. The only negative are the prices, which are comparable to a House of Prime Rib and Town Steakhouse in San Carlos. The ribeye here was $39. At Town, its $48 so not that big of a difference in price. Both are very good with Town being slightly better and worth the extra $9 and a drive down the Peninsula. Broadway Grill has that old style feel with the live Jazzy music while Town has a more modern feel. I guess it really depends on which you prefer. read more

She and Kat gave us the perfect amount of attention, the ambiance was excellent and Mike and the bad even did a full moon night request from my wife, Van's Moondance. EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER was kind, engaging, and accommodating-even suggestions for cute pictures(thanks Kat!). ..But how was the food? A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Feeding a dozen teenagers with varied nutrition preferences is no small feat! Everyone raved about their food, including the adults. Literally from steak dinner down to the onion rings! Delicious! My husband and I went to Broadway Grill last year a few days after Valentine's Day, and we absolutely loved it. The food was great, the atmosphere was great, and the service was great. So, we decided to head there this year ON Valentine's Day..why not, right? Well, this is why... 1. I arrived at exactly 7:29 for my 7:30 reservation. I stood and waited for five minutes while the hostess was seating two other people who were there before me. The woman told me that she would be right with me. No problem at all. As I was waiting, another couple arrived and stood by me around 7:36. When the hostess came back to her podium, I again told her I had a 7:30 reservation, and the other couple told her the same thing. She then seated the couple who arrived after me! I waited another 5 minutes while she got them situated, then she finally sat my husband and I. 2. As if that wasn't enough, the hostess walked past several empty tables to put us in the far back corner of the restaurant, right by the kitchen. Loud, and unnecessary, as there were several other tables available. 3. No one stopped by our table to ask us for our drink order for about 10 minutes. 4. We ordered our drinks, and they did not arrive for 15-20 minutes. The waitress had to go make our cocktails herself because the bar was so backed up. 5. We ordered our food, and then waited an hour and ten minutes for it to arrive. That's right -- 70 minutes just to get our food!! When it finally came, it tasted good, but not so good that it makes up for the terrible service we received. I would like to say that our waitress Monica was amazing. She continually apologized for the slow drink and food service, and comped our beverages because she felt so bad. She's wonderful, but the establishment as a whole is seriously lacking. We celebrated my Grandma's 85th birthday here today and we had a wonderful experience. They did a five item menu for our large party and had our food out in great time. I chose the Eggs Benedict and it was really good. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was delicious. We all hated the food, none of the items seemed to be the correct item ordered (and we checked) and how many times do I gotta ask for my water to be refilled?? They try so hard to compete with SF & they really need to take a cue from Vans or Sixteen Mile & just be a kick-ass peninsula steakhouse that focuses on food & service, not some wanna-be Reno casino Steakhouse with an Elvis impersonator crooning to anyone that will listen (whether they want to or not) while they sling barely edible food. Food and service should be the priority if youre trying to be a classy steakhouse.
