The service was great and the place had a vibe! I got their special Cacio e Pepe bagel and cream cheese and it was delicious, very savory! And the classic plain bagel and cream cheese was so good too. The bagels are fluffy and had great texture. Price is in the higher side for a bagel with cream cheese.

$3 a bagel is ridiculous for these bagels. Especially when you buy a dozen. I'm happy to go elsewhere for bagels at this price point.

This isn't your traditional New York style type bagel joint. I placed my order online and I arrived before the promised time so while I waited inside I got to see their entire operation. Definitely very unorthodox. The online pick up orders are inside. If you don't order online they have an ordering window outside. Essentially a takeout only place. The staff was great but they were all working in sweats. They cook the eggs in the back and they have two ladies assembling all the orders and one working the window all dress like they just got out of bed. I will admit I was having second thoughts about this place. And then I tried my bagel sandwich. The Atomic Bagel Sandwich. If you're from Chicago, you should automatically no what you'll be getting. Hot Doug's spicy atomic sausage, with pepperjack cheese and scrambled eggs. I ordered mine with an everything bagel it was way better than what I had expected. It had the perfect amount of heat and the pepper jack gave it some even more extra heat. My wife ordered their bacon egg and cheese but it came out a little burnt on one side. And wasn't too happy and they also don't have a big selection of cream cheese like other places do. Doubt she'll want to come back but I can definitely see myself returning.

It's been a few years since I had Brobagel and I'm glad I tried it again. Went with a classic bacon, scrambled egg, and cheddar sandwich on an everything bagel. It was tasty and filled me up thanks to hearty portions of egg and bacon. The bagel was not too chewy, which was fine by me and my sensitive teeth. Added on a Metropolis cold brew and it was a good meal. The service was kind and employees worked quick to take my order and make it. I was in and out in a reasonable time. Small place so it's only set up to place order to go or get your pickups from website/app orders. Staff makes it easy. A sturdy bagel option in the Chicago area.

Supposedly a jalapeño cream cheese (tasted like peanut butter ) on sesame and a tasty veggie cream cheese spread on everything

I had brobagel once two years ago and now that I live close I took my friend who was visit. However, they accidentally gave me someone else's peanut butter and I think a heavy amount of cinnamon on sesame. It was okay, I tried my friend's veggie cream cheese spread on everything and it was so goooood. Thought I was looking forward to my jalapeño cream cheese

The bagel sandwich from this place does not disappoint with the taste and size. I ordered the atomic with garlic bagel since they were out of plain bagel. The sausage was so flavorful yet spicy. Definitely worth checking this spot out if you're in the mood for a breakfast bagel sandwich.

    Ask the Community - Brobagel

Does anyone know when BroBagel is planning on reopening? Just kind of confused when seeing other places open and plus they have the front window where online and call in orders can be passed. Love this place and miss getting the atomic before work.

They're open for takeout now on Thursday and Fridays 6:30am-11:30am, Saturday and Sunday 6:30am-12:30pm!

    Is Brobagel still open? Thanks!

Sorry, Liz, Brobagel has been closed for several weeks. We look forward to the end of this situation so we can reopen and start baking again. Thank you for you message.

I'm extremely thankful to have a friend who introduced me to this bagel spot. Definitely a top 2…read morefavorite of mine. I haven't been to the location but have had these bagels consistently for over 10 years. The texture and flavor of the bagel is everything a NY bagel is and should be. Fluffy on the inside, somewhat crispy on the outside, and oh so thiccccccccck! Their cream cheese?! Ugh! Don't skip on it, seriously everything about this place is perfect. My go to selection is the egg bagel with chive cream cheese. It's chef's kiss and hits the spot. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!!!!

If you're expecting this to be interchangeable with the franchised bagel places that have spread…read moreacross the country, recalibrate now. This is not that. I've been going to New York Bagel & Bialy for over 50 years, and places like this operate on a different clock, a different standard, and frankly, a different philosophy of what a bagel is supposed to be. Timing matters. If you show up after about 8:00 AM, your odds of getting bagels at their absolute peak--still warm, properly textured, with that slight resistance on the outside and softness inside--go up significantly. Earlier can be hit or miss depending on the batch cycle, but once they're in stride, this place delivers. The essentials are all here and worth your time: poppy seed, sesame, everything, and especially the bialys. The bialys alone are reason enough to make the trip--properly done, with the right chew and depth of flavor that you simply won't find in mass-produced versions. Don't overcomplicate it. Grab a dozen. On your way home, stop and pick up a couple packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese and some smoked salmon a jar of capers, a Bermuda onion--whether here or even from Walmart--and you've got a meal that outperforms most brunch menus at a fraction of the cost. This isn't trendy. It's not trying to be. It's something better: consistent, old-world, and still doing it the right way. If you're going to call something a bagel, the standard is not branding--it's process. That's why New York Bagel & Bialy on Touhy stands apart. They actually do it right: kettle-boiled first, then baked in rotating ovens. That single decision--boiling--changes the entire structure. It gelatinizes the outer starch layer, locks in density, and produces that thin, glossy crust with real chew. Without it, you don't have a bagel--you have bread with a hole. The rotating ovens matter too. They deliver even heat, which means you get the correct balance: a slight exterior crisp with a dense, elastic interior. No puffiness. No sponge. No collapse under toppings. That's the difference here. Most chains optimize for speed and shelf life, so they steam or shortcut the process. Many local shops land in the middle. This place doesn't compromise. If you care about what a bagel is supposed to be--not just what it's called--this is the benchmark in Chicago.

It's a simple idea, but it really works and makes the bagel stand out. The drip coffee, on the other hand, was just okay--nothing special and could be a lot better. That is not a good thing when it comes to pastrami and I attribute the lean meat to the deli catering to its hipster-ish audience. Although the flavor was decent, the sandwich was dry and difficult to eat. We disagreed on the generously sized pickle. One of us thought the flavor was just right, the other not so much. We both agreed on the hash browns. It's a no-go. They were well fried but entirely unseasoned. I understand the lack of schmaltz but there was no onion or salt or anything else. I don't know what technique they do it get or keep so much topping on them, but it's a pleasure to have too much rather than not enough. Keeps them fluffy, but I prefer mine a little runnier. Service is very good, friendly, not rushed or fake hospitality. They cure their lox in house which to me feels more tender than other places, probably just a lower, longer heating or a gentler cure. Excellent schmear, a not heavy handed when scooping (respect the schream cuz). Prices are pretty good considering the care and love they put into the bagels (hand rolled, multiple proofs).
