Definitely go within 4 hours of opening, we got there at 11:30am, ribs were dry We ordered the Platter, came w 1/2 ribs, 1/2 brisket, some smoked ssg, pulled pork, & 2 sides. Total with tax was 100ish. Ribs were disappointing 4/10, felt like I was ripping carpet & pulling stuff out my teeth hours later. Brisket lacked flavor & was tuff. Pulled pork & smoked ssg was very good, even better w either sauces. The idea paying before eating to me is still foreign, paying almost 110 before my meal & for sub par food really frustrated me. We also ordered the chicken bbq sandwich, way too much butter, chicken was super tough & stringy. The portions for sides, for 100$ was just horrendous. Came here on a Thursday night around 7pm. We opted to sit outside because we brought our dog, as we called beforehand and double-checked to see if they were dog-friendly, and they said yes! It was quiet, with light music playing and strong lights hanging. Part of the seating area was covered in astro turf, the other half in real grass. Many family-style farm tables were available and umbrellas available for shade. Our food came quickly after ordering. It wasn't piping hot and fresh, unfortunately, but the tri-tip was surprisingly still super tender and full of flavor. We also got the sausage, cornbread and waffle fries. I wish the cornbread was warm, it would've tasted 10x better. The fries were good, the ranch tasted homemade as it was creamy and sweeter than the store bought versions. They didn't ask how she wanted it cooked, but when she sent it back we were told that all of the meat is pre-cooked together at the same temp, etc. My tri-tip was overcooked & I also sent it back. Let's start off with the positives, the place is so cute, there was so much seating inside & out and there's even a separate bar area. Their food & drink menu also looks good with a good amount options. Except brisket, they don't offer brisket yet but was told they are working on that so stay turn. Overall, servers were nice but it's mostly self served. We needed additional condiments that are not already placed out, the bartender said we need to ask at the food order area so not too much service there if you sit at the bar area. Our less than stellar experience is with the food, the food came out less than 10 mins after we ordered. We ordered tri tip, beef ribs with Mac & cheese and corn bread. The meats & sides were all on the cold side. Room temperature at best. The tri tip looked like a large portion but it didn't have much color and it was a bit tough & definitely needed that bbq sauce for flavor. Would not recommend tri tip. The beef rib looked more appealing but had a lot of fat on it. Ordered a burger later on since the bbq was not satisfying. The Levi's burger was good but arrived on the room temp side & crisp cut fries were cold. Not sure why all the food was not very hot. It wasn't busy and it was around 3pm on a sat so maybe the food just sits when it's ready. Not sure, we enjoyed the cider, white sangria and would pass on their expresso martini. As first time visitors, we arrived at Brodys with high expectations and an appetite for serious barbecue. The menu suggested a strong experience, so we ordered the larger plates. We chose links, pulled pork, pork ribs, brisket, cornbread, and mac and cheese. We added a beef rib and extra sides of collard greens and coleslaw. The space itself is very welcoming, with a sit down area to the left and a bar and outdoor seating to the right. Parking is easy, and there is an overflow lot as well, which makes the arrival experience smooth. The food arrived very quickly, about five minutes after ordering, which created some concern about freshness and preparation. We tasted everything without sauce first to get a sense of the fundamentals. The meats did not deliver the flavor or texture we expected. Each protein lacked seasoning and leaned toward the overcooked side, losing the moisture and richness that make barbecue enjoyable. The beef rib, was the most overcooked item on the table. The sides, which often show the comfort and soul of a barbecue place, also fell short. The mac and cheese had undercooked pasta and arrived cool. The collard greens were oily without any real flavor or heat. The coleslaw was the weakest item, lacking acidity, crunch, or any memorable taste. The cornbread was fine, although very crumbly, which some may prefer but did not stand out. Our total was a little over one hundred fifty dollars, and the quality did not match the cost. The staff was friendly and welcoming, but good service could not make up for the overall experience. With almost four stars online, we expected a stronger showing. i've gone probably over 10 times and not once has there been tri trip. which sucks because i've heard great things about it. i've gone different days of the week at different times but it's never in stock. the side options are mid, aside the cornbread. portions are inconsistent. just called on thursday at 4pm and they are already out of tri trip. like genuinely how could that be. and this seems to be a consistent problem so i don't know why they haven't fixed this issue by just getting more tri trip or just take it off the menu if they are never going to have it. service is good, employees are nice, space is okay, the outside area is nice but not taken care of. very disappointing because it has potential. read more

There are not very many places you can get a beef rib, let alone a Prime Dino Rib that can feed at least two...and you didn't have to smoke it yourself for 8-12 hours. So excited that this spot opened for their beef ribs! The Dino rib had the perfect smoke ring, it was juicy, and fatty in all the right places. The homemade BBQ sauce paired perfectly. We also tried the 1/2 rack of pork ribs, a side of salad, and the mac and cheese. The pork ribs were just ok. I think Urban Roots does it better. The salad was great! really loved how fresh it was. The Mac and Cheese was missing something. Definitely will try other sides the next time. The Parking: there are a handful of parking spots in the front and then there is extra parking in the back. Getting in and out during a busy day can be cray and cause traffic on the two way rode. The service: really great! Drinks took a little longer, but that's because they had to look for you and there were three different dining areas you could possibly be: 1. outside in the front, 2. the dining area inside, 3. the backyard area that is gated. I'd definitely come back for the BBQ. Pro tip: BBQ on a weekday starts at 2 PM and on a weekend at noon. They have brunch options, but I came for the BBQ :) read more

I pass through Freeport all the time going to Clarksburg, and seeing as this new BBQ place just opened, I knew I wanted to stop by and check it out! I was pleasantly surprised and really liked it! We got the platter in order to try a bunch of different things they had to offer, and I'm glad we did. The ribs were amazing, great flavor and fell right off the bone. Definitely some of the better ribs I've ever had. I also loved the sausage links. Again, amazing flavor and great texture with a nice snap when you bit into it. The ribs and sausages were my favorite for sure. I also liked the pulled pork, it's on the sweeter side so keep that in mind if you like/don't like sweeter sauces with meat. Personally the tri tip was my least favorite and it didn't really jump out to me, but my friend really liked it so it could just be a matter of preference. As someone who loves Mac n cheese, I was honestly a bit disappointed with the mac here. The cowboy beans were very good though I'd say. I want to try some other sides they have for sure. Usually BBQ spots can be very hit or miss--in my opinion a lot of them are very expensive for mediocre food at a high price, but Brody's surprised me and definitely surpassed that. Great location! AMBIANCE: Located perfectly along the Sacramento River on Freeport. We loved the outdoor seating area. There was plenty of room for our kids to run around and you are sitting right along the river. SERVICE: The staff was all very nice! This is a pay before you eat restaurant but we still received some table side service with waiters checking on us. FOOD: They make homemade bbq sauce which was really good. However, I do feel that the food itself lacked flavor. Our meat arrived cold. Also the collard greens had nearly no seasoning at all. Lastly, the mac and cheese was spicy for no reason and we unfortunately could not feed it to our kids. The fries were good but I was hoping to like the other food as well. Overall, will I be back? Follow-up... As previously mentioned in my last review, check your to-go orders before walking out. Also, you might be need a scale. When following-up over a to-go order of a Dino rib that looked way smaller than it should have, management asked how much it weighed. I'm assuming you may need a picture or recording of the Dino rib weigh-in to substantiate. To be honest, I don't know if it even matters unless you physically return to the restaurant, or catch this type of problem before picking up your order and heading back home. Maybe I'm still a little sour over the fact that I legitimately had a bad experience and instead of management trying to show a goodwill gesture towards customer satisfaction, we got penalized for not handling the situation properly. I know it may be inconvenient for some to return to the restaurant after driving there for pickup, driving back home, and driving back there, and driving back home again... so inspect your order on pickup before leaving. Okay, rant is done... I meant it when I said that I wanted to like Brody's and wanted to support. So much so that I even recommended dining there to a friend that was visiting from San Francisco. I told them my unfortunate experience, and we decided to avoid the Dino rib but we wanted to try the standard wagyu beef ribs as well as the baby back ribs with a side of collards and a side of slaw. The Good: baby back ribs were on point. Smokey, juicy, and tender... fell right off the bone. Delish! The Bad: Cole slaw was flat, not very creamy, sweet, or acidic... it was mid at best. Service was poor. We ate on the bar side and we were the only customers, yet the bartender never came to check in with us to order. That's ok, this is a casual joint and we're at the bar... we'll just walk up to the counter to order. Well we did just that. The bartender was in a conversation with a lady so my buddy stood there patiently. The bartender said she could "help us in a moment" and continued with her conversation. 90 seconds later, they finish their conversation and the other lady goes behind the bar.... The other lady was an employee! Maybe I'm the weird one, but I find it a little strange to prioritize a conversation with a co-worker that wasn't worked-related and had nothing to do with service or operations in that moment over helping a customer in an empty bar who came to you to order food... right in front of them. The Ugly: the beef ribs were not good. The meat was more like jerky than a smokey, tender, succulent piece of wagyu falling off the bone. The amount of meat was next to nothing and the salt & pepper was waaaaaaaay too heavy. Seasoned way too much for the amount of meat on that rib bone and they seasoned the thin side just as hard as the "thick side..." if you could even call it that. They were tough, dry, salt & pepper bombed, skinny ribs. What I have learned: Maybe I'm a petty from my past experiences, but customer service is not their forte and to stay away from both beef ribs. The smoked chicken and baby back ribs are stellar. I will continue to dine here but will manage my expectations and order accordingly. read more

First of all, parking is tight which can be problematic. But the entrance is absolutely inviting and beautiful. There are picnic tables surrounding the venue to enjoy your food as well as tables inside. You order and pay first then they bring out your food. The ambiance felt rustic, cozy country and cozy:) Food: Cooked really well and tender! Flavor was good but could use a little more seasoning for my tasting. There is a water dispenser in the lobby area where the cups are as well so it is a self serve sort of idea which I do enjoy. Brody's is definitely all that. I met some friends here for brunch and to finally try their smoked tri tip. For brunch I ordered a tri tip omelette which came with Brody's seasoned fried potatoes and a small salad on the side. Brodys tri tip is on the barby all day for the most part WS their meats are smoked slow and low (as it should be.)
