I've only been in Sac the last ten years. But as of today, out of all of the bbq places I have been to (I have not been to them all) this is the best. The meats got that smoke taste that bbq needs. No sauce required. But it helps add even more to it. Their spicy bbq is not bad at all. The outside seating is cool. The bar is nice. And I ran into some very nice servers while being there as well. Went to Brody's after seeing it on a friends story & had to stop by. We went in about 45 minutes before closing time & the staff did an amazing job accommodating while welcoming us with open arms. The ambiance is the perfect atmosphere for some good barbecue. The food -- amazing. We ordered Smokehouse Platter for the two of us and it was plenty of food. I can tell that these meats have been perfectly cooked for my taste buds. To top off the experience -- live music. What's better than live music to pair with your meal? Nothing! Brody's lives up to the hype & I cannot wait to spread the word. To only be 15 minutes away from me, I'm glad I was able to find another reliable restaurant. This was our second time trying Brody's. We came when the restaurant first opened and it seemed like they were still working out some kinks with the food. We were in the area again and decided to give it another shot. My husband and I split the chicken and tri-tip, and he ordered some pork ribs as well. For sides, we got the Mac n cheese, collard greens and corn bread. Everything was excellent, we had no complaints. The meats were moist, the sides were flavorful, and the service was quick. Drove out to Elk Grove today to do some shopping at Delta Shores and all that money spending made us hungry. I looked up food places nearby and Brody's popped up as first on the list. We found out that they have only been open for 4 months! The inside is very rustic and laid back with wooden tables and chairs. The place isn't very big, but there is a nice outdoor patio area as well. I noticed a pretty decent sized bar too! We ordered the Freeport Burger (added bacon) with a side Caesar Salad and the Steak Chili Fries to share. The portions were huge and I'm glad we opted to share our meal. We loved all of the food - everything was seasoned well and had great flavor. We were big fans of the fries and our friends really liked the Mac and Cheese they ordered. Our friend's mom ordered the BLTA and it was a huge sandwich - she took half of it home with her. The prices are a little high, but the portions definitely make up for it. I want to come back next time and try the Smokehouse Platter that serves 2-4 people for $75. There was also a French Dip on the special menu that I hope is there next time as well. Service was friendly - you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table, but the workers were attentive and did a great job checking on us. After a ln afternoon spent wine tasting at the Old Sugar Mill 5 minutes down the road, my friend and I decided we needed to eat something to end our day out. We both noticed Brody's since it's right on Freeport and we passed it on our way to wine tasting. We stopped in on Saturday night around 5 and it wasn't super crowded so we were able to order and sit right away. I ordered the half chicken with the tri tip chili and it was so good! the chili was smokey, thick and had delicious tri tip pieces in every bite. The chicken was smoky and juicy and I devoured it. Right behind where you order they have two giant pots of bbq sauce that you can serve yourself with and it was the perfect balance of sweet and smokey. This is a must try bbq spot. read more

Came back again since my first experience was so good. The food was still amazing this time but i'm taking a star away for the customer service.The young lady that helped me seemed like she did not want to be at work, no smile I told her I had to change seats to go outside and they brought me my food I asked if they had forks bcuz when I checked inside there weren't any atvthe station, she said they're inside and never brought me one, so I went in to get one, and then while I was eating outside a young man was cleaning off the patio roof with dust falling around me, not cool while you're trying to eat. But I will say this the food was fantastic again so there is at least consistency with food quality! read more

Wow! Great BBQ! We got the platter with a little of everything and we got some great sides, Mac & Cheese, collard greens, steak chili, and corn bread. Everything was amazing. Nice little spot on the side of the leveling Freeport. Great seating, lots of room and very comfortable. Service was very good. The young lady who brought our food also got us refills for our sodas. We came for brunch and we're just amazed by the ginormous smokers. We got the tri-tip breakfast burrito, which was a little bit disappointing because it didn't really come with any sauce. The tiniest bit of salsa was all, and the meat was chopped up and a little tiny Dicey cubes that were so small. I didn't really like that at all. There was a nice smoky flavor to the meat, but besides that no real flavor needed salsa. Table mate got the tri-tip sandwich which she said was rather dry and the other table mate got the tri-tip scramble which she was not really impressed with because it had a tiny little dice up mean as well. Don't think I'd come back unless I was getting a barbecue platter. Sodas are nearly 5 dollars which I thought was a little steep. The burrito was huge but $20+ if I do come back, it'll probably be for happy hour. read more

Brody's Side Door bar area is great alternative to the restaurant, especially if you are solo or just looking for a more casual pub experience. 4 TVs showing sporting events and a large patio area with outdoor seating and games and stage area with live music on the weekends. It can definitely get busy on weekends and holidays so expect your food to take a little longer during those times but they've got plenty of seating and great drink options to hold you over. Matt, the bar manager, is very attentive and makes everyone feel welcome. P.S. they've got the best drink prices in town and the food is proper! read more

The space is nice and parking is easy, but the vibe dipped when two older asian lady staff members were openly arguing. Food came out very fast, which showed. The meats were under-seasoned and overcooked, with the beef rib being especially dry. The sides didn't help -- room-temperature mac and cheese with over cooked pasta, oily collard greens, bland coleslaw, and forgettable cornbread. The latte was the worst item we had. We spent $191, and the quality didn't match the stars online and on Google. Staff was okay, but overall this one missed hard. Tried to ask for a manager but said there was none availiable. The food is so flavorful I was looking for a good bbq spot but all the ones I wanted were further south I decided to try a new spot and it was so worth it. I would 10/10 try this place. I didn't have a scale with me You can look at the picture in this review and judge for yourself if it appears to be a full pound. I think it is. Side of collard greens ($7.95) was cooked aldente, the way I like it. There was shredded port in the greens. I would have preferred bits of bacon or fatty ham rather than shredded pork. The greens tasted good. I think for $7.95 there should have been a bit more. Side of corn bread ($9.95) was good. Could be a dollar cheaper in my opinion or kick it up a notch. It is tasty, just slightly expensive. Side of Granny Coleslaw ($7.95), as far as I could tell had NO Granny smith apples. This is it's calling card, Granny Smith apples in the slaw. It's in the name, it's in the description and try as I might, I couldn't find any in the slaw. I dug to the bottom from multiple sides, ate from the top and nowhere was I able to taste (not even a hint) of Granny Smith apples. These are my favorite apples to eat and love their flavor. Peach Margarita ($15) was tasty and has some room for improvement. Crushed ice was used rather than cubes. Could slightly taste the tequila over the peach and lime. This was made by a young man, not sure if over 21, not a permanent bartender. Not sure if they have bartenders, it might be that each server make the ordered cocktails. I'm not a fan of wait staff making the cocktails. You may want to stick with beer. SERVICE It was adequate. I walked in the door before 1 PM and the kitchen staff called out to the staff member helping me, "no more brunch!". Luckily I wasn't there to have a late breakfast. They refunded my Granny Coleslaw, that was good. They were nice helping me get the only table with an outlet. They were polite. DECOR Nice decor for BBQ restaurant with plenty of seating both inside and out, three different seating areas outside. CLEANLINESS Relatively clean, the table is a little tacky to the touch. Might be warm skin moisture makes it feel that way. LOCATION On the river road in Freeport, nice location. PRICE Seems a bit on the expensive side. OVERALL EXPERIENCE Enough good to out weigh the various short comings to warrant a return visit on a different day at a different time. They weren't busy at all. I played golf at Bartley Cavanaugh up the road. Stopped in for a Happy Hour (3-6) bite. I ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich with Waffle Fries and a side of the Granny's Cole Slaw. The tri tip was very tender and the waffle fries had a sprinkling of garlic and parm. The coleslaw had a slight sweetness, exactly the way I like. I had Rebecca as my server. She was very attentive and pleasant. I stayed long enough to watch the end of Princess Bride on the Telly. This location is awesome. It's right off the levee and Hwy 160. The restaurant has a similar set up as a brewery restaurant. Very inviting and very tidy. The service is fine for a walk up counter ordering situation and the staff is willing to answer your questions. We ordered the bbq platter. Paid $76 for it, which is what a premium bbq should charge, however the food just didnt hit the mark. 1. The mini ceasar salad we chose as one of the sides was drowning in a creamy vinegrete. It had a ceaser dressing resemblance but not the flavors. There was so much dressing that after a couple bites it wasnt edible for us. 2. The mac and cheese was our second side. Flavor was good however the pasta was mushy and tho. We like spice but adding it to the mac and cheese eas a bit much with the spicey sauces and pepper. 3. They did not have pork ribs ready but they were gracious enough to substitue another order of tri tip. The tri tip was tender and the smoke flavor was solid. But the meat was bland. I cook tritip quite a bit and a simple garlic pepper and salt rub would have really tied the flavore together. 4. The pulled pork was decent. My wife enjoyed it. To me it tasted like yesterdays leftovers and the grease level was too high for my taste. 5. The hot links were an absolute disappointment. They use mass produced hot links that you get at Sam's or Costco. For the vibe and competency Brodys is trying to project this sausage should be an embarrassment. We genuinely want this bbq to be excellent, unfortunstely until the food rises to the premium pricing charged it just wont be a return visit for us. read more

Finally a BBQ restaurant closer to home! This place is amazing! Dined in with friends for dinner and we tried a variety of smoked meats. The ribs, chicken and pulled pork were all very tasty & smoking with flavor! I've always prefer chicken over all other meats and this placed nailed it! It was very tender and not over cooked unlike most other BBQ places I've been to. And the sides......OMMGGG! ALLLL the sides were a hit for me. So good that I couldn't stop raving about it to my husband on the way home. Collard greens, Mac & cheese and potato salad were so SO delish! My daughter loved their Mac & cheese!!! Food was good, albeit overpriced. It goes way downhill from there. Tables were sticky from lack of proper cleaning between guests. But beyond that the service was horrendous. There were not a lot of people there, but apparently serving guests at a table at the same time was well beyond their ability. There were four of us and dishes came out five to ten minutes apart. As a result, if we wanted to eat when the other members of our party did our food would have been cold. If they were not 20 minutes away I would get take out, but otherwise I am one and done for Brody's. read more

The potatoes were cool, they over serve and undercook the bell peppers and onions, they use the leftover tri tip from the night before on the omelet, the cheese sauce is most likely from a can and the coffee is in a large 32-40 cup urn so it's not fresh, or hot and it's bitter. read more

I wasn't expecting much but it was in the area. The tri-tip sandwich was super moist and delicious. Service was thoughtful and attentive as well. A bit expensive for the entrees; entree and sides are alacarte. So I stuck to the sandwich side, which was still a bit steep, $18, but I guess about typical. It did come with either waffle fries or a Cesar. Total with drink about $20. I'll give them another visit for sure. read more

Tried Brody's for the first time yesterday and now I understand why it was so packed. Parking can be a little challenging, but they do have a lot across the street plus overflow parking, which helped. We grabbed seats at the bar so we could watch the game and enjoy a few drinks. Adi was our bartender and did a great job checking in on us throughout the meal without being overbearing. Really appreciated the attentive service. We ordered the Dino ribs, pork ribs, tri tip, and lemon pepper chicken, and everything was delicious. The meats were flavorful and cooked well. Jenny recommended the Oreo and chocolate milkshakes for my girls, and they absolutely loved them. After dinner, I took the girls out to their backyard area, and they had a great time walking around and checking everything out. It was a nice way to end the evening. Came here on a Thursday night around 7pm. We opted to sit outside because we brought our dog, as we called beforehand and double-checked to see if they were dog-friendly, and they said yes! It was quiet, with light music playing and strong lights hanging. Part of the seating area was covered in astro turf, the other half in real grass. Many family-style farm tables were available and umbrellas available for shade. Our food came quickly after ordering. It wasn't piping hot and fresh, unfortunately, but the tri-tip was surprisingly still super tender and full of flavor. We also got the sausage, cornbread and waffle fries. I wish the cornbread was warm, it would've tasted 10x better. The fries were good, the ranch tasted homemade as it was creamy and sweeter than the store bought versions. We wanted to love the food & service at Brody's but our experience left alot to be desired. Let's start off with the positives, the place is so cute, there was so much seating inside & out and there's even a separate bar area. Their food & drink menu also looks good with a good amount options. Except brisket, they don't offer brisket yet but was told they are working on that so stay turn. Overall, servers were nice but it's mostly self served. We needed additional condiments that are not already placed out, the bartender said we need to ask at the food order area so not too much service there if you sit at the bar area. Our less than stellar experience is with the food, the food came out less than 10 mins after we ordered. We ordered tri tip, beef ribs with Mac & cheese and corn bread. The meats & sides were all on the cold side. Room temperature at best. The tri tip looked like a large portion but it didn't have much color and it was a bit tough & definitely needed that bbq sauce for flavor. Would not recommend tri tip. The beef rib looked more appealing but had a lot of fat on it. Ordered a burger later on since the bbq was not satisfying. The Levi's burger was good but arrived on the room temp side & crisp cut fries were cold. Not sure why all the food was not very hot. It wasn't busy and it was around 3pm on a sat so maybe the food just sits when it's ready. Not sure, we enjoyed the cider, white sangria and would pass on their expresso martini. All and all, will give Brody's another shot when they offer brisket and would come during actual lunch hour to see if the food arrives hot. read more
