Walking into Brody's feels like you just stumbled into a little BBQ joint in a small country town. It's cozy, laid back, and everyone there seems to know how to make you feel at home. The vibe is super relaxed, no rush, no fuss. Just good food, good drinks, and good people. The BBQ here is the real deal. The beef rib is huge and tender, with just the right amount of smoky flavor. Pulled pork and tri-tip are spot on as well, and the sides taste like they were made in someone's kitchen, not out of a box. The cornbread is sweet and buttery, the mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy, and even the collard greens are worth ordering. They also have a solid drink selection. I had the Mystic Cloud hazy IPA and it was good. There are plenty of other beers and cocktails, so it is just as easy to come here for a drink and hang out as it is for a full meal. Wow--Brody's is easily the best restaurant I've visited this year! From the flavorful food to the unique self-service setup, everything about this place impressed me. Here, you handle everything yourself--from grabbing sauces, plates, and silverware to boxing up your leftovers. When you walk in, you'll find the register near the condiment section, where you can serve yourself with any of their amazing sauces (more on that later). You get menus upon arrival, but you'll need to head to the register when you're ready to order. The star of the show here is their homemade barbecue sauce--hands down the best I've ever had. I don't even like BBQ sauce, but I couldn't get enough of this one! I visited with a party of 9 and for my order I got, Smoked Chicken Quesadilla, a Burger (can't recall which one specifically), Smokehouse Platter (comes with two sides--I chose fries and mac & cheese), and 3 Cocktails The total for all this came to $180, pricy but isn't too bad considering the large portions. Speaking of value, their cornbread is priced at $10, but you get two big slices, and it's totally worth it--dense, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Everything I tried was excellent, including their mac & cheese, which was creamy and well-seasoned. Their wings were also massive, just like the rest of the portions. Overall, I don't think there was a single dish I didn't enjoy. The dining area is spacious, making it a great spot for big parties, and there's outdoor seating available as well. The staff was friendly and attentive, which added to the experience. After your meal, you can also check out their bar next door, though I didn't get a chance to visit this time--I'll definitely be back for it. The restaurant has its own lot, average size with about maybe 14 spaces. I visited on a Thursday afternoon, and it wasn't busy, but I'm not sure how packed it gets on weekends. Either way, I left with lots of leftovers, which is always a plus! I also noticed that they have a breakfast menu I believe so I would love to try that! All in all, Brody's is a must-visit for BBQ lovers. The portions are huge, the flavors are bold, and the experience is unique. My sentiments for recent reviews of one stars are same. Came on 6/21 at 11:30am, and the food waits were ridiculous. Waiting in line to order took 30 minutes. Then after ordering, takes 1 hour to get your food. The bathrooms were also a mess. No toilet paper. No toilet seat covers. No soap to wash your hands. People yelling at bathroom door, "There's no toilet paper." Then comes the food. Mediocre at best. Ordered the Cubano sandwich that's all plastered at the store. Sandwich was nasty and looked nothing like the fliers. It looked like someone sat on your sandwich. The smoked meat in the sandwich was so dried, you can choke on it when trying to eat it. Ordered 1lb of their half lean and fat brisket. Meat was dry. Drowning the meat in their barbecue sauce did not help either. Waffle fries were good. Candied bacon were good. Mac 'n Cheese. Flavor is lacking. I did happen to see their pork ribs being brought out, and those looked juicy. Ambiance was nice where it has things for kids to do. Bar looked nice. But 1.5 hours of waiting around to order and get some dried out barbecue food, not worth it. read more

The seating outside is nice to enjoy a cool evening. The food is good, I wish the sides were bigger. They had to substitute some of the food since they didn't have tri tip. The service is ok, they don't come often though to check if you need anything. you have to get up every time and get in line where you order to get a soda refill At least that's what he had to do. Great discovery along Freeport, just past Cosumnes River Blvd. Not a ton of great BBQ options nearby, so I was stoked when I came across this place. Their fries (topped with Tri-tip, pulled pork, etc.) are a great option for the solo diner, and their sampler platter is comparable to Urban Roots with a similar price point. Good brisket, good pulled pork, tasty hot links - what's not to like? They also have a really nice outdoor space if that's your jam. Family friendly, with both the outside area and an indoor dining room. Good beers on tap, and lots of parking -- it was great for a post scooter ride bite. I've already been back! read more

Usually enjoy this location unfortunately there was a big blonde lady whose customer service was terrible. Very rude the past 2 times encountering her not just me but other customers as well. Rushing an open tab to be paid while trying to enjoy drinks and/or food is insane. While dining in she informed me she was leaving that I need to grab my own food. Over heard other customer complain about the same lady because she left there food waiting for take out when they were out back dining in for the same reason because she was more worried about clocking out rather than communicating with her coworkers that tables still needed to be served. Had high hopes for this place based on reviews but it fell a little short for me. Parking can be a pain if this place is busy, they do have a small overflow lot though. You grab a menu and order at the counter, so not a table service kind of place. It is pretty pricy so be forewarned. They do have alcoholic drinks but they are made with Soju not actual vodka or tequila. Food arrived pretty quickly. My pulled pork sandwich was a decent size for the price and it was drenched in sauce. My son's BLT looked big but it was all the lettuce and tomato fluffing it up with not very much bacon for the price. read more

Loved that we were able to enjoy the sun in any spot you sit. The smell of the smoker was divine. The pulled pork sandwich is stuffed with meat (so I saved the extra for later). The tri tip sandwich was so tender and flavorful. The toppings on both were the best complement. Don't get me started on the fries!! They were so fluffy and flavorful. Very nice hidden spot! I had the tri tip omelette and I was please try surprised. I thought the dish would be heavy since I was getting a heavy meat for breakfast but it was light and went well with the omelette. The country potatoes were a nice side as well. Saw this spot all over social media and just had to come. Sac has been in major need of a solid BBQ spot for awhile. We decided to get the Smokehouse platter to try a bunch of their signature offerings. Pork ribs: A Super fatty and tender, these have some incredible flavor and texture. Goes great with their homemade spicy BBQ sauce. Pulled pork: A- This is actually quite good. Some places have pulled pork that ends up being bland, but here there is a lot more sauce and browning on the pork so every bite takes you to flavor town. Tri-tip: A- Very tender and seasoned well. I've had some dry tri tip before but this one is moist and easy to eat. It's quite heavy on the black pepper though. Smoked sausage: B+ Pretty good sausage. It definitely has a smokey Cajun flavor so if that's your preference you'll like this. Mac n cheese: B Nice al dente texture on the noodles. Tastes pretty good but could have more cheese. Collard greens: A+ Fantastic collard greens, stewed long enough to make them tender and it has some pork in it that gives it a great flavor. One of my favorite greens! Easy to order, plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, good and quick service. Tons of parking out front. I would definitely recommend Brody's if you're craving BBQ in Sacramento! read more

My husband and I went to Brody's two months ago and had their smokehouse platter. It was so good! The pull pork was so juicy. The smoked sausage so flavorful. We brought our friends and kids to Brody's yesterday when the weather was nice and sunny. We got to try the tri-tip sandwich this time and it was amazing. The kids had the pull pork and chicken quesadilla and they loved it. There was a band playing outside and all the kids were running around playing while we ate and drank. Came to Brody's for Father's Day weekend lunch with my wife and son. Ordered the tri-tip for myself, along with the rest of our food. We waited almost an hour for our food...and then my tri-tip never came. Staff said it wasn't on the order even though I heard my wife order it. Oh my gosh this is hands down the best barbecue I've ever had. The chicken sandwich and Mac a cheese were AMAZING. We were told all recipes are made on site...delicious!! update: went back to try their other entrees and to see if the hospitality has improved. Thumbs up! We were welcomed and treated as honored patrons. A good start. So what did we order? 1) chicken breakfast burrito: my dining companion said the chicken was moist and favorable. he enjoyed his entree and the salsa and sour cream were perfect accompaniments. He said he would bring his family back-which is a good sign. 2) Levi's burger: basically 2 beef patties, bacon, and cheese. this basic simple burger was not too greasy, had a very nice beefy flavor, did not appear frozen beef patties, had nice pieces of bacon all served on a brioche bun. My arteries are clogging up just thinking about this wonderful tasty burger. The burger is a bit small for the price point, but i guess i would rather have a really good quality tasty burger versus a low quality cheaper burger. We ran into the chef as we were leaving and he explained their goal is to service good quality food. So yes i will return. read more

We typically go to Freeport bar and Grill which is right down the street and we wanted to give this place a try. We had a party of 12 celebrating a birthday and even called to make reservations for an outside table big enough. Upon making reservations we were told to call a little early to make sure that they had enough food. Like really?! What kind of restaurant even says that kind of thing. I won't make it a long review but bottom line is we had to wait over an hour for all of our food to be served and we had to keep checking on our food and ended up finding some plates left on the counter waiting to be served to us. They were out of everything except for burgers, salads, and chicken. We couldn't order any of the steak items or ribs. We didn't get much sympathy from the restaurant workers at all and let's just say we will never be back there again. If it was an option, I wouldn't even rate it one star. And the response I get from a manager or owner is we will be better prepared for a bigger party next time. It is not about being able to serve a bigger party next time, when you're out of your most popular foods and your service is bad that impacts all customers not just a larger party. read more

Found my new favorite BBQ spot! Did someone say (Dino) Beef Rib?! Yes please!!! I found Brody's because of an ad I saw on Instagram and bc of EatwithCass ;) Brody's can be found in the Freeport area on your way to Old Sugar Mill Winery. It's beautifully remodeled where they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. They have it set up where the bar and restaurant is separate. You go in to order your food, then they provide you a number and a rubber brings out your food. I loveddddd my big a$$ beef rib! This baby had so much meat on it I had leftovers, yay me! Hubby got the tritip burger which was fantastic! Also his crisscut fries were cooked perfectly. Everything was seasoned to my liking. I would eat here again and again! A true 5 star review for me is not only the delicious food but also the ambiance and service, which was all great here. I was able to meet, Stephanie the GM during our visit.
