Food was good, albeit overpriced. It goes way downhill from there. Tables were sticky from lack of proper cleaning between guests. But beyond that the service was horrendous. There were not a lot of people there, but apparently serving guests at a table at the same time was well beyond their ability. There were four of us and dishes came out five to ten minutes apart. As a result, if we wanted to eat when the other members of our party did our food would have been cold. If they were not 20 minutes away I would get take out, but otherwise I am one and done for Brody's. read more

Had high hopes for this place based on reviews but it fell a little short for me. Parking can be a pain if this place is busy, they do have a small overflow lot though. You grab a menu and order at the counter, so not a table service kind of place. It is pretty pricy so be forewarned. They do have alcoholic drinks but they are made with Soju not actual vodka or tequila. Food arrived pretty quickly. My pulled pork sandwich was a decent size for the price and it was drenched in sauce. My son's BLT looked big but it was all the lettuce and tomato fluffing it up with not very much bacon for the price. read more

Very nice hidden spot! I had the tri tip omelette and I was please try surprised. I thought the dish would be heavy since I was getting a heavy meat for breakfast but it was light and went well with the omelette. The country potatoes were a nice side as well. Saw this spot all over social media and just had to come. Sac has been in major need of a solid BBQ spot for awhile. We decided to get the Smokehouse platter to try a bunch of their signature offerings. Pork ribs: A Super fatty and tender, these have some incredible flavor and texture. Goes great with their homemade spicy BBQ sauce. Pulled pork: A- This is actually quite good. Some places have pulled pork that ends up being bland, but here there is a lot more sauce and browning on the pork so every bite takes you to flavor town. Tri-tip: A- Very tender and seasoned well. I've had some dry tri tip before but this one is moist and easy to eat. It's quite heavy on the black pepper though. Smoked sausage: B+ Pretty good sausage. It definitely has a smokey Cajun flavor so if that's your preference you'll like this. Mac n cheese: B Nice al dente texture on the noodles. Tastes pretty good but could have more cheese. Collard greens: A+ Fantastic collard greens, stewed long enough to make them tender and it has some pork in it that gives it a great flavor. One of my favorite greens! So what did we order? 1) chicken breakfast burrito: my dining companion said the chicken was moist and favorable. he enjoyed his entree and the salsa and sour cream were perfect accompaniments. He said he would bring his family back-which is a good sign. 2) Levi's burger: basically 2 beef patties, bacon, and cheese. this basic simple burger was not too greasy, had a very nice beefy flavor, did not appear frozen beef patties, had nice pieces of bacon all served on a brioche bun. My arteries are clogging up just thinking about this wonderful tasty burger. Found my new favorite BBQ spot! Did someone say (Dino) Beef Rib?! Yes please!!! I found Brody's because of an ad I saw on Instagram and bc of EatwithCass ;) Brody's can be found in the Freeport area on your way to Old Sugar Mill Winery. It's beautifully remodeled where they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. They have it set up where the bar and restaurant is separate. You go in to order your food, then they provide you a number and a rubber brings out your food. I loveddddd my big a$$ beef rib! This baby had so much meat on it I had leftovers, yay me! Hubby got the tritip burger which was fantastic! Also his crisscut fries were cooked perfectly. Everything was seasoned to my liking. I would eat here again and again! A true 5 star review for me is not only the delicious food but also the ambiance and service, which was all great here. I was able to meet, Stephanie the GM during our visit. Drove out to Elk Grove today to do some shopping at Delta Shores and all that money spending made us hungry. I looked up food places nearby and Brody's popped up as first on the list. We found out that they have only been open for 4 months! The inside is very rustic and laid back with wooden tables and chairs. The place isn't very big, but there is a nice outdoor patio area as well. I noticed a pretty decent sized bar too! We ordered the Freeport Burger (added bacon) with a side Caesar Salad and the Steak Chili Fries to share. The portions were huge and I'm glad we opted to share our meal. We loved all of the food - everything was seasoned well and had great flavor. We were big fans of the fries and our friends really liked the Mac and Cheese they ordered. Our friend's mom ordered the BLTA and it was a huge sandwich - she took half of it home with her. The prices are a little high, but the portions definitely make up for it. I want to come back next time and try the Smokehouse Platter that serves 2-4 people for $75. There was also a French Dip on the special menu that I hope is there next time as well. Service was friendly - you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table, but the workers were attentive and did a great job checking on us. After a ln afternoon spent wine tasting at the Old Sugar Mill 5 minutes down the road, my friend and I decided we needed to eat something to end our day out. We both noticed Brody's since it's right on Freeport and we passed it on our way to wine tasting. We stopped in on Saturday night around 5 and it wasn't super crowded so we were able to order and sit right away. I ordered the half chicken with the tri tip chili and it was so good! the chili was smokey, thick and had delicious tri tip pieces in every bite. The chicken was smoky and juicy and I devoured it. Right behind where you order they have two giant pots of bbq sauce that you can serve yourself with and it was the perfect balance of sweet and smokey. This is a must try bbq spot. read more

I played golf at Bartley Cavanaugh up the road. Stopped in for a Happy Hour (3-6) bite. I ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich with Waffle Fries and a side of the Granny's Cole Slaw. The tri tip was very tender and the waffle fries had a sprinkling of garlic and parm. The coleslaw had a slight sweetness, exactly the way I like. I had Rebecca as my server. She was very attentive and pleasant. I stayed long enough to watch the end of Princess Bride on the Telly. This location is awesome. It's right off the levee and Hwy 160. We came for brunch and we're just amazed by the ginormous smokers. We got the tri-tip breakfast burrito, which was a little bit disappointing because it didn't really come with any sauce. The tiniest bit of salsa was all, and the meat was chopped up and a little tiny Dicey cubes that were so small. I didn't really like that at all. There was a nice smoky flavor to the meat, but besides that no real flavor needed salsa. Table mate got the tri-tip sandwich which she said was rather dry and the other table mate got the tri-tip scramble which she was not really impressed with because it had a tiny little dice up mean as well. Don't think I'd come back unless I was getting a barbecue platter. Sodas are nearly 5 dollars which I thought was a little steep. Soooooooooo disappointing! Took my friend here for her birthday on Thursday March 5. We had read the reviews and were so excited...and with all the cars out front we had high expectations! Entering the place there were 2 customers inside. Two. Add us and there were 4. Then I looked outside confused because there's even overdose parking!! Two tables outside had consumers take about 10 TOTAL, 4 groups (including my friend and I). I ordered the tri tip on the cashiers recommendation and the greens (which were supposed to be cooked for like 3 days with pork, and the candied bacon (since I'd never had candied bacon before)! Loaded up with BBQ Sauce and headed to our table. The food arrived and not only do I make better tri tip than this place, but there was NO pork, or any meat in my greens. I make some mean greens and was looking forward to enjoying other great greens. NO MEAT AT ALL. Furthermore, I received about 6 tummy cold slices of weird colored tri tip, and my friend was nodding (negatively) regarding her tri tip sandwich. The bacon was not only undercooked but it had ZERO SWEETNESS at all to it. My friend kept apologizing because she selected this place for her birthday and the distance to get there, the overpriced menu, and the VERY DISAPPOINTING FOOD...was such a let down HUGE LET DOWN, I DO NOT GET THE HYPE ABOUT THIS PLACE. We were there about 2:30 on a Thursday As I was leaving I told a different cashier about my "candied bacon", asking if it was supposed to be sweet because it was just regular bacon with chili flakes. First time at Brody's a few weeks ago with high expectations, and we ordered big: half chicken, pulled pork, ribs, a tri-tip sandwich, sides, the works. The space is nice and parking is easy, but the vibe dipped when two older asian lady staff members were openly arguing. Food came out very fast, which showed. The meats were under-seasoned and overcooked, with the beef rib being especially dry. The sides didn't help -- room-temperature mac and cheese with over cooked pasta, oily collard greens, bland coleslaw, and forgettable cornbread. The latte was the worst item we had. We spent $191, and the quality didn't match the stars online and on Google. Staff was okay, but overall this one missed hard. Tried to ask for a manager but said there was none availiable. Side of collard greens ($7.95) was cooked aldente, the way I like it. There was shredded port in the greens. I would have preferred bits of bacon or fatty ham rather than shredded pork. The greens tasted good. I think for $7.95 there should have been a bit more. Side of corn bread ($9.95) was good. Could be a dollar cheaper in my opinion or kick it up a notch. It is tasty, just slightly expensive. Side of Granny Coleslaw ($7.95), as far as I could tell had NO Granny smith apples. This is it's calling card, Granny Smith apples in the slaw. It's in the name, it's in the description and try as I might, I couldn't find any in the slaw. I dug to the bottom from multiple sides, ate from the top and nowhere was I able to taste (not even a hint) of Granny Smith apples. These are my favorite apples to eat and love their flavor. Peach Margarita ($15) was tasty and has some room for improvement. Crushed ice was used rather than cubes. Could slightly taste the tequila over the peach and lime. This was made by a young man, not sure if over 21, not a permanent bartender. Not sure if they have bartenders, it might be that each server make the ordered cocktails. I'm not a fan of wait staff making the cocktails. You may want to stick with beer. SERVICE It was adequate. I walked in the door before 1 PM and the kitchen staff called out to the staff member helping me, "no more brunch!". Luckily I wasn't there to have a late breakfast. We ordered our sides and main dishes and were told the wait would be about 25 minutes. We went to the bar to get drinks, but the bartender didn't acknowledge us until she finished chatting with other customers. After ordering two beers, we stepped outside to wait. Fifteen minutes later, we checked with a server about our drinks and appetizers. The server returned to tell us they had run out of glasses and asked if it was okay to serve the beers in plastic cups. Really? That required a decision? We also asked again about our food. The server eventually brought the beers, our appetizer, and two of our sides -- but still no sign of our main dishes. After 50 minutes, we learned our main order had never been placed.
