Brody's Side Door bar area is great alternative to the restaurant, especially if you are solo or just looking for a more casual pub experience. 4 TVs showing sporting events and a large patio area with outdoor seating and games and stage area with live music on the weekends. It can definitely get busy on weekends and holidays so expect your food to take a little longer during those times but they've got plenty of seating and great drink options to hold you over. Went here after I saw Instagram reel for a toddler friendly place. It didn't disappoint. Ample amount of space for kiddos to run around, jenga, corn hole and soccer balls. Counter serve style so open seating. It was very busy Saturday but we still got space inside. I got the bbq chicken sandwhich and it was great!. Soft bun that nearly melted in my mouth. The chicken was not shredded rather like slices of bbq chicken which was a nice touch. On weekends they have brisket but were sold out by 515pm. Only complaint is that the food could be warmer. Food - 2 stars We arrived on a Saturday at 1pm Saturday they offer a special brisket sandwich, so we ordered two. We also got extra sides. Most of the food tasted really good. Sadly the sandwich was a disguise to serve us fat with a sliver of meat. There were about 3 slices of brisket in the sandwich, and each piece was about 85% fat. Not marble, more like pork belly. A solid restaurant in Freeport catering to a very wide audience of old school diners as well as newer age modernists. The vibes are very homey and somewhat eclectic but uncluttered. Overall, the food is good but not amazing. Compared to some of our Sacramento staples, Tank House, Urban Roots, Buckhorn, this place doesn't really meet the mark. I would say the offerings are not particularly unique, but the executions are. The beans and potato salad were a bit unusual and were a bit visually unappealing, flavor-wise fine. I think of all the meats, the pork was the best. Ribs and pulled pork were cooked well. The tri tip had good flavor but tougher texture. Chicken was fine. The hot links were also fine. I think the corn bread was great, but not particularly special. The butter it came with was a bit fruity which was a nice surprise. The prices are pretty average for BBQ, which I would expect. They seem to sell out of things often, so make sure you come early to ensure you get what you want. Lots of places to sit, indoors and outdoors, and plenty of parking as well. The staff is very helpful and nice. Shout out to Samira and Jenny in particular. We had a large party that they catered. Came here after a wedding as an intermediate stop. We had a drink and since we were going to the reception next. We didnt get to try their food, but it did smell really good. The place inside is abut small for the var, but still good for a few small groups. What is awesome about it, is the outside seating. Its great and super spacious. It seems you can play games and also be away from the main busy areas within sac. Would highly recommend going. They also have very clean restrooms with a shared sink area to wash your hands. Came by for brunch on a Sunday around 11am and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't too busy yet. They do have outdoor seating, which looked nice, but it was a bit too cold for us to enjoy that option. I ordered the Birdie Sandwich and it was packed with flavor! the egg was cooked perfectly and everything just came together so well. It came with potatoes that were crispy and well seasoned, plus a small salad with a dressing that was honestly so good. We also tried the fried pickles, which were solid, especially with their ranch (it reminded me of that dill style dip from La Bou). The French toast was definitely on the sweeter side but really delicious and my daughters loved it. My husband ordered the tri tip omelette and enjoyed it as well. I also liked that they offer a "2 sides" option, which is a great deal. I went with waffle fries (super crispy) and a Caesar salad that was light and fresh. The Vietnamese coffee was spot on too. strong and perfectly balanced. The only thing that fell short for me was the beef rib we got to go. For the price, the portion felt pretty small compared to other local spots. Second time here love the outdoor seating area options. There are 3 spots to choose from when you order your food at the counter. First time I came I got the pulled pork waffle fries. I walked into bar, drink was made and sitting on back counter she handed it to me. I went outside to drink it and decided to go in to get my second drink. A person even walked in to bar and ordered two drinks and she made them immediately, she was so sweet to that person it was obvious she knew her. I grew impatient watching her make other drinks and I asked for a refund. She said my drink is next but willing to give me refund. I have been sitting another 10 minutes at bar. I then asked her how come there is no bacon in my Bloody Mary. She said happy hour does not get bacon. I have been here before for happy hour and there is always a big piece of bacon. Passive aggressive behavior. Obviously she was overwhelmed, but don't take it out on me. Holy hell, talk about lack of or perhaps totally inept service, spent a total of 25 minutes waiting next in line... for two beers. No delegation, despite having multiple bar backs, bartender/manager(?) couldn't remember a drink to save her life, had to ask her customers what they ordered 2, 3, sometimes 4 times (!) and still managed to get drinks wrong (there was a graveyard of miss poured drinks in front of the taps lol), could barely reach the taps (please get her a taller step stool), was doing dishes while she had customers... in front of the dish washer... and took zero responsibility and didn't apologized for anything. Mind you I witnessed all of this while being the only other customer next in line... twice. After waiting for 10+ minutes the second time, (and still not busy at all) she seemingly didn't know I was there the entire time because she started helping someone else (who seemed to read the room better than I) and just tried to slide his order in on her. I spoke up, told her I was next, and to her credit she got my order... but... gave me a hazy instead of a regular IPA. I didn't say anything about the beer as I wasn't about to keep waiting, gave her some honest feedback, paid, and walked out. Now for the cherry on top. After the delicious burger we wanted to try their dessert menu (unfortunately the banana cream pie was lackluster at best, tasted out of a box) and we decided to try to order a beer through the restaurant rather than the bar. We got and took our time finishing dessert, and wouldn't you know it, still no beer. Ended up just going in and canceling the beer order. Unbelievable, haha. At that point all we could do was laugh, while we probably would have stayed and had more drinks as we had the sitter longer, there was no way we were going to sit there to maaaaaybe get what we ordered... at some point... or risk her coming out to ask what we ordered... so we just went home. On the plus side we got a nice view of the river just a short ways from the restaurant. This was a last minute and spontaneous visit to Brody's which I never knew existed until I found it on Yelp of course . We were visiting family and it was Father's Day. It was extremely busy, we had to wait an hour to get our food. We didn't let that bother us since we were all in and committed to try out the food and drinks I read about on yelp.Obviously me writing a review is letting you know IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!! I opted for the waffle fries. The burger tasted ok, but the I thought the burger was over cooked. The edges around the patty were kind of on the crispy side, hard. The meat patty was not whole, it was split in half, but not evenly, and the grilled onions were in between the very thin patties. What this place lacks in parking makes up in all the seating areas. The vibe is really road side wood building feeling which I really dig for this location . Service/Food: Service on the restaurant side was great as they take your order up front, give you a number and you find a place to seat. The staff was friendly and attentive and we didn't have any issues. The real deal with this place is the smoked meats. While the brisket isn't the best I have, it still hits the spot. Of course there can be some variability depending on the day in terms of dryness but everything I've had these last couple trips as been satisfying and filling. The spicy isn't that spicy, but has a great enough kick. They have a variety for bbq, burgers, coffee, and more! I ordered the Dino rib with Mac and cheese and Granny Smith apple Cole slaw. My husband ordered the tri tip loaded fries. Everything was delicious. Their cheese was great on the fries and Mac and cheese. I loved how refreshing the Granny Smith Apple Cole slaw was, although I was missing the Granny Smith apples in it. Fries were crispy and the meat was fresh. I love how they decorated for the holiday season. The staff were really nice and checked in on us from time to time.
