Excellent service, wonderfully designed and on most nights the drinks are top notch. The last visit I was disappointed in their Mai Tai but was able to swap out the rum blend for something closer to a Trader Vic's and was stoked. Love their vegan food options. read more

The drinks were all decent but when the bill came there was an automatic 20% gratuity added because the bill was over a certain amount even though it was only a party of 3. Also we were offered a free dessert that was added to the bill as well, which I believe pushed it over the threshold. I absolutely love the ambience! The vibe! The coziness and how you literally feel like you're in the Caribbean even in the bathroom in the middle of Burbank! The service is super friendly and over the top, just a little in the slow side... but just like in the Caribbean.. don't be in a hurry and relax haha. I've tried most dishes and they are good and definitely innovative! Love their smoked beef! However, it's definitely bar food and I get it but it's almost too flavorful... like too salty, sweet... too saucy ...It's definitely an American bar palette... and that's what it is, so right on point! read more

This is a hidden gem that will become an institution if they can keep it up. Food is good bar food and decent value, but the tiki drinks and service are what made it 5 stars. I went with a friend who is well versed in the style, and he has vowed to return so he can drink his way through the menu. Plenty of options available for those with more sedate tastes. The theme is fun but not overdone. It was comfortable and busy without feeling crowded or noisy. Lit like a restaurant, but not too bright, and there are darker corners in the lounge for a divey-er feel. Nice to see a decent bar culture emerging in the area. Reward these folks by checking it out and tipping well - two strong drinks and a meal or some snacks will make for a good night! read more

This review is purely for their service/their weird policies... been going to this bar for years, live down the street, love multiple items on the menu and am super bummed I will never be going back there. In the last couple of years the homey Burbank Pub became the Broken Compass, all of a sudden there's tiki ambiance and fries don't come with your burger. all good, i didn't mind. but last week i had the worst time! Went for a business dinner with an old friend expecting a chill time. we got there and went into a new room on the side that was completely empty except for a person at a podium who told us to wait a few minutes, then he told us to go inside and someone would seat us. very Lynchian. we went in and someone took our number and took us to a tiny weird half-table in a dark corner that was less than a foot from the next table over. still all good... we ordered drinks, then dinner, which took its sweet time to get there. still all good!! we had been talking a while (like i said, business!) and once we were ready to order another drink, the waiter let us know there was a time limit on the table. we informed him that nobody told us this when we sat down, and we'd like to finish our dinner and keep talking. so he let us order more drinks. at this point the guy who had seated us started stalking us in the corner and began trying to clear literally everything off our table as we finished down to the last french fry. we had about a third left of our second round of drinks when the waiter came back and said, "so, i don't mean to be rude, but you guys have to get out!" with a smile on his face. seemed like he was trying to be funny at first but he actually was literally telling us to leave. at that point my friend was so uncomfortable he said "ok we know you need to switch the tables out, we're going!" and the waiter replied, "well, there are people who have been waiting 60 minutes for a table, so...." and walked away from us. this was after i tipped 20%, the lowest option available :))))) yo, WHERE do you guys get off??? this is the rudest thing i've ever experienced at a dining establishment, EVER. i spent over $120 dollars on dinner here and you literally verbally kicked us out. and expected US to feel sorry that YOU lied to your waiting customers and said there would be a table available? you need to have this "policy" posted EVERYWHERE, my dudes. online, on yelp, on your door, whatever. better yet, don't have a really dumb policy that cuts people's time short if you're trying to make an enjoyable atmosphere!!!! stick with Guildhall where they never kick you out. peace read more

So bummed!! I really wanted this to be a new favorite spot. I had read great things, from the fun decor to the extensive gluten free options. While I had seen some hotly defensive replies from the owners to a few negative reviews, I figured the owner's perspective was warranted as people can be jerks without much reason. Well, the person who was a jerk without reason was the host - we left without dining because of his attitude when we were trying to understand the seating options as we had never been there before....so disdainful, cold, and unhelpful. I agree with the other reviewers who have said the same! We left and went to The Six in Studio City for their consistently warm, welcoming, and accommodating service and fantastic gluten free buffalo cauliflower and flatbread pizzas. Called ahead of time on Wednesday this week to make sure they were open and inquired about happy hour. The man on the phone said they have happy hour Monday-Friday 3:30-5pm. I explained that a few of my coworkers wanted to go out and explained we usually go to happy hour at 4, they said cool see you then! I showed up today with 10 of my coworkers and there were 6 other people all standing outside to a locked door at 4:15 and this sign on the door. It's a shame, they did not post this on their website and didn't let me know when I called. I would not recommend this place for an after work happy hour. Staff was customer service friendly but unreliable. 1 meal was wrong and our side sauce request came out until we were finished with our meal.. lmao!! Great food, the themed drinks are delicious, and the Tiki atmosphere is really fun. They also have rotating food specials, some of which are so good you'll wish they were on menu every day. Only weird thing is the time limit on tables - totally understand that it's a small place and it's currently really popular, but the rules listed on every table is a little off-putting to the overall vibe. Last time we were here we ate at a normal pace with the timing of the kitchen and the drinks, and still felt like we needed to rush a bit just to get out in time. Tasty loaded pork fries (without pork) as below. They had a good amount of heat with Serrano peppers sprinkled throughout the queso and miso ness of the fries. Great ambience, you feel like you're on a boat on the cruise to the Caribbean. Tons of rum drinks, and some really good happy hours snacks. It's worth a visit just for atmosphere and if you like. Secondly, The Burbank Pub is also a tiki bar! They have their own version of a Zombie, Mai Tai and other amazing originals. They use only top-notch rums here, too. Their food is uber decadent... fried chicken sandwiches, shrimp tacos, etc. All cheat-day-worthy and amazing. The decor is a fun pirate theme and is about to get even better with their upcoming renovation. I came here with friends for their May the 4th Star Wars themed day. They had great themed bites and drinks. My favorite was the frozen Tatooine Cooler which was a frozen blackberry purée and rum drink cocktail and they even threw in some "lightsabers." I really wanted to love this place. Burbank needs more places to have great food and drinks. There was a lot of mention of it on social media. The place is decorated just like a typical tiki bar. When we arrived there was plenty of seating, by 6:00, it was definitely crowded. We asked our waitress for suggestions on drinks, she informed us that she did not drink and had no idea. We ordered some drinks and were hoping to be able to get some food, however, only the happy hour menu was available and it is very limited. We ordered a burger, brussels sprouts, and fries. The best thing was the Brussels sprouts and that is a stretch. We were wanting a second round of drinks and although we sat at the bar it took them about 30 minutes to see that we were wanting another round, in spite of them not being terribly busy. I just had their 'The Good, The Bad, and The Onion burger' today and while it is an amazing burger it could definitely have used more onions.
