The view from our table at dinner.

I usually come here for tea while I read my book. The tea is great and the ambiance is off the charts! Fabulous staff, delightful and on point. I came here yesterday for dinner. The spouse said his burger was good and the fries great. I had a meal of sides, which were all delicious but tiny and expensive. If I was feeling more flush these days, it probably wouldn't've minded the price, but I'm underemployed and probably should've ordered more frugally.

Don't you dare fly past the dessert case without a good peek, ok?

Step inside the charming yet mystical allure of the Witch's Cottage and it's as if Sabrina Spellman and Hermione Granger had conjured up a love child. From the front door to the back dining area, every corner of this establishment has been decorated as an homage to witchcraftery. And I totally loved it! As did my little warlock with whom I enjoyed an afternoon tea & cake in the main hall. Hands down, the decor is completely bewitching and no detail was spared. I think they managed to incorporate every little witchy joke, wink, and enchantment into the walls, menu, and themed areas. We sat ourselves down in the main sitting area near the front and enjoyed our comfy seats long enough to play a few rounds of Uno (because we forgot our Tarot cards at home ;) And it was a perfect way to escape being burned by the scorching sun and the ghastly afternoon July heat. Located in the middle of the NoHo Arts District, the walls felt familiar to me in another life. I had been here many times before its current transformation, back when it was called the Federal Bar. The building itself was built in 1926 so it's officially 100 years old now, but Witch's Cottage has only been open for a mere four and a half months. It was originally designed by the father-and-son architects, John and Donald Parkinson. The upstairs area now hosts Sound Baths, whereas it once played live music to a hipster crowd brought to us by the Knitting Factory. We ordered the Jamaica iced-tea, which is made in-house, a Mexican Coke (trapped in a cutesy bottle), and a slice of devilishly decadent chocolate cake, adorned with a crown of edible flowers. The cake was very dense and super chocolatey and the Jamaica ice tea added a nice balance since it was not very sweet. Some of the teas are specially handcrafted in-house so that's pretty unique. The prices are on the moderate side, but you can order a pot of tea with some of their fresh baked goods and take all in the whimsical details. I dare say, even be entranced by the details and let the afternoon slip away. Just note: There's an addt'l 3% Kitchen Appreciation fee on every bill that goes towards staff bennies. Also, they close from 4pm to 5pm daily to prep for dinner so you'd be hexed to come with a hungry stomach at that particular witching hour.

More like 3.5. I used to go here a lot when this building was Federal Bar. I will say, I "liked what they've done with the place" - it's all very instagramable, witchy, gothy, mermaid, steam punk. You could have a ton of photo apps in here. Went here because it was a friend's birthday, and since it was kind of early for dinner for me, I just got a drink, a Blood Orange Margarita. It was alright, maybe I have very high standards for cocktails, especially when they are $18+...I didn't really try the food, had a couple of bites of friends spinach dip, and it was very spinachy. I appreicate and respect wiccan and goth culture, but maybe I'm not the target audience for this place - and that's totally ok! The baked goods and coffee bar up front looked good though. Maybe next time in area...

If you're looking for great food and a peaceful place to gather, let me tell you about The Witch's Cottage. I first discovered this gem on Instagram and followed up by reading the reviews on Yelp. On Saturday morning, July 4th, I surprised my wife and drove 44 miles so we could experience it for ourselves and it was absolutely worth the trip. My wife ordered the Vanilla Latte, and I went with the Mocha Latte. Without exaggeration, these were the two best coffee drinks we've ever had. While waiting for breakfast, we decided to try one of their pastries and ordered the Walnut Coffee Cake. Every single bite was packed with flavor, unlike so many coffee cakes where all the goodness is only on top! For breakfast, we both ordered the Bacon Chive Quiche, and it was literally out of this world. From the incredibly inviting atmosphere to the genuinely kind staff and the fresh, high quality food, everything about our visit exceeded expectations. Whether you're local or making a drive like we did, this place is well worth the time and effort. And if you're local... I'm officially jealous!

One of a kind, whimsical, witchy! The decor is pretty interesting, especially the back room, which really brings those fairy witchy elements to life. We stopped by for a quick bite and happened to see a magical celebration. Whether it was a birthday or a little engagement dinner, it made my experience so much better, especially since the group was fully immersed in the theme with their outfits and fairy headpieces. The food was good too, we got a burger and fries, and I also had a starter. The drinks we tried didn't really do it for me. Overall, such a unique experience and definitely a great themed atmosphere.

Love this place. Note the differing bar and restaurant hours. Coffee shop is different schedule as well. But the bar... ugh those cocktails are yummy. Kyle at the evening bar is a gem of a human being and Monica does exceptional work during the day bar shift. I cant wait to come back.

Food drinks and service were amazing!! Mary Kate was our waitress. She was so nice and gave advice on food and drinks. My husband and I will be back!! We even stopped by the front and picked some pastries to take home.

I've been here twice, once on a weekend right after they opened, and once on a weeknight recently. They recently changed the menu. I think I liked their original ideas for the menu better, but the food tastes better now. The ambiance is AWESOME. The bar has lots of creative choices, including 2 ciders. Service was great. Making reservations would be wise.

Last night I signed up for the sound bath event taking place on the 2nd floor of the Witches Cottage and it was such an amazing experience. The side door where it says Theatre is the enterance and it opens at exactly 6p to let us in. Upstairs is so beautiful and whimsical I really think I prefer it to the downstairs! There was incense that smelled light and amazing with really pretty energy in the air. I loved the reading at the beginning, but I had so much fun when we did some body movements to loosen up and move our energy, I found myself smiling and going all in with the movements! After that we all laid down on our mats to have the sound bath and I was so enthralled by some of the instruments that make the sound, my favorite was the rain stick I can't stop thinking about it. I really recommend this event, I felt so light, airy, and free afterwards!! They do the Monday once a month and then they do I think a Friday once a month, on the Friday they have scones and soundbath. I will definitely be coming back!

My hubby and I had a late dinner date, and from the moment we walked in, everyone was professional, welcoming, and incredibly kind. They served us dinner even though we arrived just before the kitchen was closing. The attention to detail throughout the entire space was breathtaking. From the bakery to the restaurant and the second-floor bar area, the mystical and magical décor made it feel like stepping into a whimsical art gallery. Our server, Tig, was so friendly, attentive, and sweet. We loved the Dragon Deviled Eggs, and the Cottage Cauldron Mac was amazing. For dessert, we enjoyed a little Witch's Hat Cake Pop , which was rich, decadent, and delicious. We left happy and are already looking forward to returning to this magical place.

They put a spell on me and now they're mine :) The Witch's Cottage is inviting, delightful and enchanting all at once. This newer in town bakery, cafe, event space and overall incredible hub is very welcoming of any and all... With thoughtful service, information and immediate sensations. Located at The Federal building with "Broom" Parking in the back and easy access to the LA Metro, literally a skip or six from North Hollywood Station. Bewitching folks inward from the corner of Lankershim Blvd/Weddington Street with an open door Tuesday through Sunday from 7AM to 10PM Clever baked goods, and hot or iced beverages to perk up any day. Well thought out menus for lunch and later, directly from the cauldron. Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free options are very visible, like the Pasta Salad... of Many Comforts, Dwarven Cindered Grilled Chz (dairy free option available), Halfing Potato Wedges, and other Shareables, Soup, Salads and/or Entrees. Magical in all the senses with great weekly events such as Sound Baths and Scones on Fridays from 10am to 11am, upstairs at the Elven Forest Space. Cool Crafting Days, The Tempered Flask Tavern is still in works, but I expect this to also be quite the incredible addition to this iconic space and instant NoHo favorite. From cafe vibes, to dining in the back, libations and lavender, you'll surely want to return just moments after. Supporting the community in various ways, I believe this not so hidden gem is very much here to stay :)

Showed up first thing in the morning and they really weren't prepared to have customers. There was nowhere to sit because they were still cleaning and mopping the floor. Their menu has fun names on it, but the coffee taste like nothing. I have a strange and unusual latte and let me tell you there is nothing strange and unusual about the taste of milk. Not a bit of cardamom in sight. Thankfully, I had canceled my meeting that morning, so nobody was meeting me there, which is a relief since there was no too have coffee and pastries.

Came back and finally got to try some of their items from the café. The jasmine tea cake with orange marmalade was quite delicious. Not too sweet and perfect with coffee. The cardamom coffee was very tasty and the flavor was light and balanced. We tried both of the quiches, the mushroom and the bacon and both were delicious and flaky. The place was packed for a Thursday at noon and we were happy with the ambience.

We found this place last minute to watch the final FIFA World Cup game when we were turned around…read morefrom another spot. Thank god we got turned away because this place is a hidden gem. They do have parking behind the building which seems to fill pretty quickly if they're busy, but it's easy to find parking around the neighborhood. I am not usually in the tavern scene so I was surprised that we had to order and pay at the bar, but it wasn't a big issue. My friend and I split the kale caesar salad and the macaroni and cheese. For the table, I ordered the waffle fries after being informed by the kind waitress that that was the better choice over the pretzel (which she also said was amazing). Since the place was filling up for the final, the kitchen was a bit slow, but we barely noticed with how attentive the staff were in getting us drinks and refills. When it came to food, we were pleasantly surprised with this place and is honestly the reason I'm writing this review. The first things we got were the Beef Tallow Waffle Fries, Caesar Salad, and mac and cheese. Obviously the fries were much better, however the salad was also divine but just swimming in dressing. Back to the fries, we all were mindblown with how tavern fries could be this good and had so many flavors. Even the skinny queens in our group kept snacking on them which tells you how good these were. Mac and cheese came and it was standard and creamy but not necessarily something I'd return for. The surprising thing on top of the fries that majority of us loved was the Vegan Tomato Scampi with shrimp. It was fire and had me questioning if it was even Vegan. Would definitely return here if I find my way back to SoCal from the Bay. Great unassuming place with great food and vibes. Their bathroom as well is super clean and nice! Love this place!

This place came up several times when I researched on great restaurants that have excellent vibes…read moreand great food. Although it didn't really necessarily show up as "the best food in LA area" but all the reviews were so good so I became curious to try. Mainly the reviews also raved about the vibes, services, and live music. Well, they were not wrong! It was fairly easy to make a reservation through Opentable, and I made a reservation for two people for my birthday dinner on Sunday night. I put on the notes that it's my bday so it'll be nice to get a nice table near the stage. I didn't have a high expectation, cos I'd never been to the place and I didn't make a call or anything. But wow, they definitely gave us a great table at the very front! As many reviewers had mentioned, the acoustic of the restaurant is really great. You can barely hear other people's conversations. There's a live jazz band playing, so you can really enjoy that. Although it made it slightly hard to hear what other nearby people say to you either, haha. Our server Dawson was a really great one! Very nice, very informative and just has a great vibe that made you feel comfortable to converse with him. We also asked if he could take a picture of us and he went above and beyond with taking our pictures haha. He took the table lamp as our additional "lighting". Such a great service! Dawson also made a few suggestions on food. We ordered the milk bun (so great!), the tiger prawns tostada (omg, my favorite of the night!), braised lamb pasta, pork belly risotto, and roasted broccolini. Everything was really good and really filled us up! We also got the "smokin old fashioned" and "Wake up and repeat" cocktails. It was plenty of food for us so we asked for a check. Dawson asked if we wanted a dessert but we were already full. He asked if it's ok to give us a lil treat for my bday. It was a really nice dessert :). Oh I forgot to mention that they also put a small bday card on the table for me. The prices of food and drinks are on the higher sides, but I feel like it's worth it due to the live music and the vibe. It easily covers the entertainment part. We definitely will go back and recommend this place for anyone who's looking into a nice date night or to celebrate something special. I was informed that Friday has more of a "party vibe" here, although it's still a jazz performance. Sunday feels more laid back :) Overall I'm really pleased by this place. I used to think that I don't care that much about excellent service as long as the food is great, but I was wrong. The excellent hospitality just made the night even better than expected. Thank you for making my bday dinner memorable.

The usually have a live band after 7pm and the sound in the resturant is amazing. It's like a recording studio. The staff was very friendly! The decor and ambiance was also impressive. Definitely swanky but down to earth vibes. I got the rasberry beret cocktail and it was different but fabulous. Not sure how else to describe it. It was refreshing. We got the tiger prawns and it was presented as a toasta, which had a great flavor and texture. The apple salad was also refreshing and a good portion to share between 2 people. The broccolini was cooked perfectly and my favorite after the tiger prawns was the Dungeness crab pasta. It had uni on top! The uni elevated the dish, and honestly there were a good amount of crab meat in the dish. Overall well balanced and creamy. The 2 of us left full and satisfied. Highly recommend this place for a date night. There's also plenty of street parking when we went but there is also valet for $15.

Retro Tiki Bar time…read more Popped in with babe recently to beat the heat and cool off with some delicious libations. No one was at the station in back and after waiting in the heat for five minute, we wander through the patio, still spacious and actually more done up than my last time here a couple years ago when me and a group sat across from a tv celeb and his friends, ironically all coming from the same event. Lots of tables and chairs and cool fireplaces and pits for when the cooler nights and days return. Inside the temp was perfect and not as busy as we'd assume. We got greeted and guided to the open "U" shaped couch area with a small candlelit round table. Good music was vibing away and I ordered us the Mojave Punch. Still a big fan of their Tiki Punch Bowl, Pain Killer, TBD, Dark and Stormy, Blue Hawaiian, Mai Tai, Nutty Chi Chi and several seasonal drinks. Draft beer, cans and bottles also available with a solid assortment imported, including alcohol free, plus tons of craft brew. Getting a drink was easy when we first started, but became a challenge at the end, not to mention closing out. During our afternoon cocktail we has some chips and salsa from the stand in back semi partnered up with Tonga Hut. They have a variety Mexican street food style dishes including tacos, burritos, and more. Outside food is welcome - in fact a medium size party enjoyed a pizza party on the patio. When it's mellow seating is pretty easy. They tend to have one to two bartenders at a time rarely more as it's a tight space behind the bar. I have seen up to three in the past, but even then good drinks take time. Patience is very much still a key. They can do classic well drinks, soft drinks and have a water station as well. Restrooms are single use. Juke Box is solid though it did cut out at the end when me and this poor guy in front of me waited for what felt like an endless amount of time to close out. He had already been up there for 10 minutes during the shift changes, mini breaks (for staff) and one bartender handling everything for a while. After 15 minutes for myself and almost 25 for him we were able to depart. Highly recommend ordering early on and maybe something big or shareable. As the oldest tiki bar in Los Angeles, serving it up since 1958 it's hard to keep up all the goodness without any waves. They do their best and everyone is personable. Walk Ins are very welcome but they also take reservation for parties up to 15, beyond that reach out via email on their website. Also visit their other location in Palm Springs. Parking in the lot or on the street. Open from 4pm to 1am during the week, Monday through Thursday. Fridays and Saturday until 2am. Earlier hours Saturday and Sunday, open by 2pm.
