Large dining bar, and a few booths for seating.

Wonderful vibe and atmosphere. Enjoyed the food very much. I have been craving a good burger and they did not disappoint. Tried the double burger with fried onions and pickles. Left with three each of their donuts. Those were delicious as well. Even brought a few home for my travels and share with my kids to try. After more than 24 hours they were still delicious. The one and only server did an absolute fantastic job balancing everyone as they came in, cleaning up the tables, and bring out the food. As well as bar back and bartend. Definitely deserves the extra tips. Food came out hot and timely. Will definitely make a point to go back the next time I am in Vermont.

This place is 5/5. By far the best smash burger I've ever had. Probably my favorite burger of all time. The Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders are also a must have. They've really dialed in their consistency. I keep going back and it never disappoints. Thanks BHB!

Hands-down, this place has the best burgers in the entire state of Vermont. I have been traveling around the state in a quest to find the best burgers. Looking for my burger list Google search burgers of Vermont or check out my YouTube channel review time with Tim.

Having grown up just south of Fairlee my entire life, the only restaurants this tiny town ever had were the Fairlee Diner and the Wippi Dip. Places have popped up over the years and operated for a little bit before ultimately closing. While visiting in December 2023 I heard about Broken Hearts Burger and tried it out one afternoon for lunch with some friends from out of town. If you aren't paying attention you might drive right by it on Route 5. Parking is limited but there is an open lot across the street. The restaurant is small inside, with about 3-4 booths and maybe 5 counter bar stools. I ordered the Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich and I was blown away: perfectly crispy with enough spice to get your nose running. The tangy pickles mixed with the creamy and sweet coleslaw balances it out. It's a bit expensive at $13 (and that's without fries) but entirely worth it. Rarely has this ever happened for me, but I was so impressed that I took a different pair of friends there the very next day for dinner. That night I tried the Heartbreaker burger, with two double smash burgers, all the toppings, and fries. Very tasty and filling. The service was on point too, with our waitress being very attentive. Overall, Broken Hearts Burger is a fantastic new addition to the Fairlee food scene, and you can bet that I'll be stopping in whenever I am in town.

Single with cheddar and a side of fries

A nice, retro-themed local burger place in the area. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, though outdoor seating gets filled pretty quickly around dinner time. The menu is pretty minimal and contains three main categories: burgers, fried chicken, and hot dogs. I've been here twice, and it's been a bit inconsistent. I ordered the same food both times--a single with fries. Burger patty is more of a "smashburger" type of patty, so it's pretty thin and crispy. Pickles tasted different than the usual ones in other places (in a good way). The first time was great and I would give a 5/5; however, the second time I was here was more of a 3/5. The patty was a bit too crumbly and the buns weren't toasted enough, so it was kind of floppy. Fries were overdone and too salty for me, though they were much better the first time. All in all, I'd have to come back here to give a more concrete opinion verdict, but from my two experiences, it's a 3.5/5. I would still recommend people to come try it out, even if it's not consistent all the time.

Cute burger and fried chicken place next door to samurai soul food. In my opinion their burger is better than five guys but may not be as good as shake shack. Soft serve ice cream is good.

Took us a while to finally head over to Fairlee and try this amazing establishment. We decided to sit in a nice comfy booth inside but there is also outdoor dining. Went for the signature heartbreaker burger with American cheese. The crunchy meat from the smash burger to the creamy melted cheese and tang from the jumpback sauce wanted me to just inhale this tasty burger. I controlled myself to a point to savor it. I also got the Nashville fries which had just enough kick to them. Can't wait to go back to try a special or their chicken sandwich.

After eating only the chicken sandwich since they opened (because it was so good, I couldn't imagine going there and not having it...) - I finally decided to listen to my family and friends and have the burger. Well... I must say they were right! The burger was VERY tasty - bun is toasted and perfect and the homemade pickles are the bomb! The French fries are probably the best I have ever had - really! They must bake them first then fry them or something because they are small and crispy and delicious. Really - you won't be disappointed.

My wife is a big burger fan (FYI: she raved about her burger, too), so I decided to try the place out, since we were in the area. Bit hard to locate, but parking was fine. Since the weather was good, we ate outside. There is both open air & tent-covered seating options. Speaking of seating - you must memorize your table # BEFORE going inside to order as meals are delivered to your table. I ordered the "Big Daddy M": 6oz beef, medium-cooked, with Bayley Hazen blue cheese, caramelized onions, bacon bits, garlic aioli, bibb lettuce and red onions. What a heavenly, savory combination. Each bite was full of flavor. And the French Fries? Well, super tasty as well - I ate every potato fried crumb. At other places, fries are usually bland, but not here. The order service inside was pleasant and quick; be sure to note the chalk board with a list of food options (e.g. my Wife ordered a custom burger, just the way she wanted). After ordering we went back outside to our #'d table - wait for the food was relatively quick. When done eating, just leave your baskets, etc. on the table (there is a sign stating this practice). Note: while I did not have kids here, there were plenty of families with young kids & toddlers. I definitely want to try this place a 2nd time.

I ended up getting the side salad which was also really delicious - baby lettuce with cucumbers, pumpkin seeds, cranberries with a vinaigrette dressing. I'm from the South, and while I love the freshness and farm to table options all over the Green Mountain State, the lack of juicy, flavorful, fried chicken in any form was my foodie hardship. Well, I can't complain anymore! Xroads knows what it's about.* The fries and sandwiches are solidly on point too. Come for food, drinks, and friends. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. From the moment we sat down, the attitude from behind the bar set the tone in the worst way. The older woman tending bar was openly dismissive, rolled her eyes at simple questions about the menu, and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her every time we ordered a drink or asked for something basic like water or silverware. No greeting, no smile, and zero effort to be even minimally polite. At one point she dropped drinks in front of us without a word and walked away before we could even ask for what was missing. It's a shame, because the kitchen clearly cares, but the experience at the bar completely overshadowed how good the food was. If ownership ever addresses the front-of-house attitude, this could be a fantastic place, but until then, be prepared for excellent plates paired with some truly miserable service.
