When my wife and I came looking for Tubby's on our yearly trip to Savannah we were saddened that another restaurant was in its place; but the Broken Keel is a worthy replacement. It's the exact same layout as the restaurant prior to its existence, but different in its own right. They had nice, live guitar music and sports on TVs. The service was extremely attentive and our drinks consistently refilled. The food was phenomenal. I got the blackened red fish tacos and my wife got the brisket nachos; I don't try to exaggerate the truth but both dishes were some of the best we've had in awhile. My only gripes and reasoning for not a 5/5: - the portion of my fish tacos could've been better for the price (only two small tacos for $16). - the interior was very warm and not well temperature controlled and at times we got a little uncomfortable. The Broken Keel has restored this location as a pleasant eatery - highly recommend. read more

This place was so infuriating.. we had a party of 5 and we were given 6 "tickets" that we had to use in order to use the restroom. What do you mean we're paying customers and we can only use the bathroom a certain amount of times? I get saint patricks day is hectic but a ticketing system for the restroom feels gross. Disappointed. Beautiful view and could be so awesome. Waiter was not super nice and hostesses all had AirPods in which seemed a tad unprofessional. We received the absolute worst service last week at the Broken Keel. The waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu and did not provide good customer service. On top of that, the food was awful!!! We complained to the waiter about the food and he said he would talk to the chef. However, he never returned to our table with a response. We did not eat the food but paid the bill and left. This was very disappointing because we love the river view and always came to eat here when it was Tubby's. We also had to use a Porta Potty for a bathroom that was DISGUSTING!!! read more

Had an uncomfortable experience with an unwanted person following us into the restaurant. The manager on shift was Maddison . She was amazing helped us get the unwanted person escorted off the premise. Mika and Dillan were also other staff members that help comfort and protect my family during the situation. Maddison went above and beyond to ensure my family had a great experience afterwards . The food was delicious, our waiter was Earnest who also was very attentive to our needs. The food was "ok" definitely had better but I've also had worse. Service was nice but took forever to get served after we were seated then the waiter hardly came back. It took o er an hour to get our food after we were seated which was right away, we didn't have to wait at all. We had a party of 7 and an infant (2year old) child. The ambiance was not that great. The lighting was well lit but the tables were very close together. Luckily there was no one sitting around us. Thank you again. ******** I have never written a negative review in my life, but this is needed. My 3 friends and I are in Savannah for a bachelorette trip this weekend and we chose to go to Broken Keel for dinner last night. We sat on the patio and to start off it took at-least 20 minutes to be seen by a waitress. Once our waitress JANNIE finally came, she took our drink and food order and left. Everything was fine at first, and then the food came out and everyone got their meal except myself , which we all ordered the same thing ( the grouper bites ). Jannie came out and realized I did not have my meal so she said she'd go check on it. An hour went by and I still did not have my meal and my 3 friends had already ate most of their dinner. We kindly asked Jannie to take my meal off the check because I no longer wanted to wait for it. She said she already had and so my friend asked " is she still going to get her food?" Because that is normally what happens if you wait an hour when everyone else has already ate, they should comp/ discount your meal and still give you the food. Jannie said yes I would get my meal still and left. She finally brings me my meal and our checks, where my check said $4 for a drink. I laid down my credit card to pay and she came and took the checks. When she returned with the checks, my check said I had paid $19. I stopped her and said this wasn't the right check, this is when her attitude started, she snapped at me and said yes it is, she said it was the grouper bites, I told her no because she said she took them off and she told us that. She then began to fight with me saying we " asked for the food so she added it to the check" , I explained to her that that was not right and I waited over an hour for my food while all my friends ate, she continued to fight with me infront of the whole patio and I told her to bring me the manager. The situation was finally resolved thanks to a very kind other waitress who saw the whole situation and told the manager, they refunded me my dinner and gave the other 3 girls 10% off of theirs. I never ate my dinner and Jannie came back to the table to clear plates after the whole situation to " clear plates" and she grabbed my grouper bites from me in a very aggressive way and said " You ladies have a great FU**ING night". I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED THIS WAY IN MY LIFE, I've been in the service industry my whole life and never had a waiter/ waitress cuss me out. Moral of the story is, she tried to be sneaky and steal money from me which is NOT okay, she was the rudest server we have ever had, and none of us deserved to be treated the way we were, especially because all I was doing was standing up for myself when I knew my check was incorrect. I was blatantly discriminated against by staff and management. I came here for a birthday brunch for my niece. I am disabled and utilize a task trained service dog to mitigate my disabilities. My service dog is fully task trained and performing medical alerts and mobility work. The moment I walked up to the hostess stand, I was immediately refused access to indoor seating. They were only offering outdoor seating to us because of my service dog. The hostess explained that the general manager does not allow dogs inside the restaurant, but allows dogs outside on the patio. She brought out the duty manager and she expressed the same statement. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act, Federal Law, and Georgia state law it is ILLEGAL to refuse disabled people with service dogs into public spaces. That is discrimination. Service dogs are legally allowed access into ALL public spaces. After explaining to the hostess and manager that my service dog is not a pet, but medical equipment, and that legally my service dog is allowed anywhere I go, they still refused to let us inside. It took more back and forth for the manager to finally say, "Fine, let them in." The hostess then proceeded to walk us in through a back door (video attached) where the staff was actively folding linens, admitting, "that way you don't walk through the whole restaurant." Guess what? That is also discrimination! It is discrimination to segregate people with disabilities and to have them use separate entrances. Once our food was served, the manager kindly apologized to the table. She explained that she had looked up the laws around service dogs and expressed she didn't know and was going off what her general manager had expressed. I appreciate the apology and her taking the time to better her understanding about service dogs and public access. However, higher up management is still ignorant to the issue. It is higher managements rule to keep people with dogs, including service dogs, seated outside. To reiterate it is illegal and discriminatory to deny access to people with service dogs to public spaces. I understand that people take advantage of service dogs and claim that their untrained dogs are service dogs. I understand that people bring their unruly dogs into public and it can ruin overall experiences. Normal pet dogs absolutely should be seated outside on the patio. Pet dogs do not have access to all public spaces. Pet dogs can be loud, dirty, disruptive, they can attack and distract working service dogs. Federal law makes it clear that pet dogs and emotional support animals are not allowed in all public spaces. However, service dogs are 100% allowed in public spaces. Service dogs are task trained dogs to help mitigate a person's disability. While eating our meal, my service dog quietly and perfectly tasked, mitigating my disabilities. I hope all management can better educate themselves and end discriminatory practices against disabled people who utilize service dogs. I hope the next disabled person with a service dog who comes to this establishment is kindly welcomed in and is treated as equal. read more

We had the best server! Nautica made our visit to Broken Keel the most fun we had all day.

Would NOT return. The food was just okay and very small portions for the price. Meals were missing items likes sides and toppings on burgers. We couldn't find our server to let her know and have it corrected. Meals for kids were supposed to come with drinks but we had to tell the server they were included. Service was sloooooow from the beginning. Drinks were slow, food was a long time. The restaurant was not that busy either. Server walked by and glanced our way but didn't actually check if we needed anything. When the bill came she our extra beverages on our bill. When we got her attention to ask she said oh yeah you probably went to know about the extra drinks right? Well if you knew it was wrong why didn't you correct it first? Bathrooms were atrocious!! It is an outside porta potty with a code. Nasty nasty nasty. No TP, pee all over the floors and water all over the counters. So disgusting. A newer restaurant does sometimes have to work out the kinks. Well this one needs to clean up, hurry up, more server education, and teach servers how to checks on their tables! read more
