I'll start with the Oysters Rockefeller. I guess no one taught the preparer how to open an oyster and not fill it with mud. They also had a bad unpleasant odor. The fact that they served it that way was what really surprised me. I eat oysters all the time and a little mud now and then is not a big issue but this was over the top with the smell and all six were this way! The wings were ok and the beer was cold. If you can't climb stairs, don't bother coming here. Although it is handicap accessible, the only elevator to the dining space is owned by the hotel and requires a pass to access it. So you either have to ask a server to help you to the only restrooms on the ground level or you go down and up a set of steep stairs from the second level. Also this is a loud bar with some interesting twists on typical bar food. They have a cheeseburger, and fish and chips, but they also include some local flavors like crab cage sliders and lobster Mac and cheese. But it is LOUD inside and out. So if your idea is a quiet intimate dinner with friends, look elsewhere. Too loud and food is "okay." Not overwhelmed. read more

Sorry, but our experience here was not good! We had the burger, redfish tacos, gumbo, lobster bisque, caesar salad with shrimp and buffalo chicken sandwich. First, the fish tacos had about two tablespoons of filling, including the fish. I have honestly had better tacos from taco bell. The gumbo wasn't eatable. Tasted like it was sitting on a burner all day in the bottom of the pot. The lobster bisque just seemed to be a thick cream soup with not much flavor. The chicken sandwich wasn't good. Part of the piece of chicken was just fatty. The margarita tasted like it was made with just sour mix and the captain and coke was very weak. They took the gumbo and lobster bisque off the check, but it was taken off the wrong person's check. At that point we worked it out amongst ourselves. Our server was very sweet, but overwhelmed with multiple large groups. The outside seating was the best thing as it overlooks River Street. Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend this place with so many other places to choose from. read more

We just spent 3 days at the River Street Inn and found ourselves dining repeatedly at Broken Keel. Great joint. Nice live music and the outdoor bar area overlooks the river and the riverwalk. Decent prices and tasty food. Best of all, we kept getting waited on by Kitana, and she took great care of us at breakfast, lunch and dinner. I think she works 24 hrs a day, but she was great for the days we were there. Highly recommend this place, especially if you like seafood. read more

My husband and I went there this evening and we were so pleasantly surprised by the excellent service we received from Helen. Helen told us she is 21 years old, but her manners were impeccable. She was so polite and courteous. My husband and I both were very impressed with her and how gracious her service was The food was good. Our order got mixed up slightly, but she quickly corrected it and apologized for the mistake. We will definitely be back. This place was so infuriating.. we had a party of 5 and we were given 6 "tickets" that we had to use in order to use the restroom. What do you mean we're paying customers and we can only use the bathroom a certain amount of times? I get saint patricks day is hectic but a ticketing system for the restroom feels gross. When my wife and I came looking for Tubby's on our yearly trip to Savannah we were saddened that another restaurant was in its place; but the Broken Keel is a worthy replacement. It's the exact same layout as the restaurant prior to its existence, but different in its own right. They had nice, live guitar music and sports on TVs. The service was extremely attentive and our drinks consistently refilled. The food was phenomenal. I got the blackened red fish tacos and my wife got the brisket nachos; I don't try to exaggerate the truth but both dishes were some of the best we've had in awhile. My only gripes and reasoning for not a 5/5: - the portion of my fish tacos could've been better for the price (only two small tacos for $16). - the interior was very warm and not well temperature controlled and at times we got a little uncomfortable. The Broken Keel has restored this location as a pleasant eatery - highly recommend. read more

The food was "ok" definitely had better but I've also had worse. Service was nice but took forever to get served after we were seated then the waiter hardly came back. It took o er an hour to get our food after we were seated which was right away, we didn't have to wait at all. We had a party of 7 and an infant (2year old) child. The ambiance was not that great. The lighting was well lit but the tables were very close together. Luckily there was no one sitting around us. We received the absolute worst service last week at the Broken Keel. The waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu and did not provide good customer service. On top of that, the food was awful!!! We complained to the waiter about the food and he said he would talk to the chef. However, he never returned to our table with a response. We did not eat the food but paid the bill and left. This was very disappointing because we love the river view and always came to eat here when it was Tubby's. We also had to use a Porta Potty for a bathroom that was DISGUSTING!!! read more

Had an uncomfortable experience with an unwanted person following us into the restaurant. The manager on shift was Maddison . She was amazing helped us get the unwanted person escorted off the premise. Mika and Dillan were also other staff members that help comfort and protect my family during the situation. Maddison went above and beyond to ensure my family had a great experience afterwards . The food was delicious, our waiter was Earnest who also was very attentive to our needs.
