We loved this restaurant! Vinny was the best server, very friendly and accommodating! I had the breaded chicken sandwich and fries, my husband had the brisket and sweet potato fries. All was excellent! The ambiance and decor is great. Only downfall of this place is that it is often very crowded with a long wait for a table but we went midweek and were able to get right in. Came to the Broken Oar on the hotel's recommendation. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I had the beef brisket and their famous sweet potato fries. My husband opted for mashed potatoes with his ribs. Both had excellent smoky flavor and the portions were generous. My mom and I walked in on a Monday night. We waited about 30 minutes. The food was worth the wait. I got the Miners cabin burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was exactly what I wanted after hiking at Arches National Park all day. The sweet potato fries have cinnamon sugar, salt, caramel, and lemon zest on them, making it really tasty! My mom got a sirloin steak and it comes with asparagus and potato but she substituted for onion rings. I tried some of my mom's steak and didn't think it was anything too special. read more

Not great. The wedge salad was good but I was a little disappointed with the shrimp scampi. My main complaint was the garlic toast. I asked for a side order and for $3.50 got two little pieces of bread not much bigger than a ritz cracker sprinkled with cold Parmesan cheese. Garlic toast shouldn't be that hard. I wish I took pictures of the food but even the photos wouldn't show case how yummy it was. I got the siracha honey chicken with asparagus and potatoes. The sauce and chicken were to die for. The best food we have had in Moab by far. Shay encouraged us to go beyond the typical Moab sandwich fair and try the Pork-chop and Berumundi they were both excellent as were the vegetables, potatoes, and the side salad. Will definitely make the Broken Oar #1 when we return to Moab. read more

Our server was great, super helpful and on top of things. The restaurant was jammed with a number of large groups, so our meal took a while. However, it was worth the wait. Generous portions, great preparation, everything was delicious. First time in a while asparagus wasn't cooked to death! If you like chocolate, get the triple chocolate cake. Visiting Moab for amazing views and long hikes in January, The Broken Oar was a great way to end a day. The house salad is generous, fresh, and tasty. The honey siracha lime salmon is good but a bit too heavy in the sweet for my taste and I could discern no hint of siracha however, the salmon was well cooked. The berry cake (can't remember its exact name) was okay. There was an infusion of something sweet through the cake batter that was a little off and artificial tasting - an extract maybe - It would have been better with just the natural flavors of the included, baked-in, berries. The staff was very friendly, efficient, and attentive. The log cabin restaurant is cozy and pleasant. Were the food a little better this would have been a perfect dinner. read more

The team that works here are very personable. We arrived about 5:15pm and it was not busy so we were seated right away. The server took our drink order right away but was delayed for some reason. We both had the sweetened raspberry iced tea. It was WAY too sweet. She offered to make new ones but I asked her to just bring us a cup of unsweetened tea and we would dilute the ones we had. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings and it was good. I really like how soft the bun was - made it easier to eat. The Buffalo sauce on the chicken was spiced but a tolerable level of heat. My husband had the fish and chips but got onion rings instead of fries. He liked his food as well. The restaurant has a rustic feel - made of wood and gives a homey feel while you eat. While we ate the place filled up so it's a popular place - glad we arrived early. read more
