Oh wow, this is the worst chicken and waffles I've ever had. Not only are the chicken pieces tiny, but the chicken also lacks flavor and is dry. The waffles were okay, but unfortunately, since I got them as takeout, they became all soggy. It does come in a plastic container with vents, but they didn't bother opening the vents.

If I could give more stars, I would! Let me begin with saying I don't recall any other restaurant experience where ALL the staff was so nice, welcoming, and accommodating. It didn't feel fake or forced, it was wonderful! Our food came out so quickly, I was confused how they did it. Everything was tasty. I do wish the crepes were cooked a bit more but not a big deal at all. I wish I could come every single day. I also loved that they had vegan substitutes.

El Fuego Omelet

We came here on a Sunday morning for some breakfast, as we are not very familiar with the area and this is one of the restaurants that popped up. I am so ungrateful that we ended up here, because that was the best omelette I've ever had! We were seated right away which was very nice, and they have plenty of space both inside and outside. Our server was incredibly kind and very attentive. I ordered the El Fuego omelette and the chorizo it had inside was not only perfectly spicy, but truly delicious. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and the jalapeños added the perfect kick to it. I truly recommend coming here if you get the chance to!

Elder!!! Thank you, GRACIAS! for the best service. You were awesome! Actually, EVERYONE was awesome. From checking in and being seated before the quoted time, to everyone helping out with our crazy toddler, the food (so good. The pancakes are a must and I love getting my hash browns extra crispy!!) came out quickly. I didn't get an iced latte, but they LOOKED amazing and I will definitely try it next time. The ambiance is lovely and bright and filled with people, but the employees here don't rush anyone and treat everyone well. See you guys soon!! Thanks again!

$23 chicken Ceasar wrap.....

My first time getting it, I thought it was a one time off issue. My second time ordering the chicken wrap (through DoorDash), paying $23 for the wrap. The size is extremely small and the Ceasar salad has no flavor. I'm coming back to add to this review: do NOT get the chicken tortilla soup side, it tastes sour and is chunky like refried beans.

Tried out Broken Yolk Cafe for brunch and it definitely delivered a solid, no-frills breakfast experience. Went with the buttermilk full stack, a side of fruit, and sausage patties. The pancakes were exactly what you want fluffy, slightly crispy on the edges, and soaked up the syrup well without getting soggy. Nothing overly fancy, just done right. The fruit was fresh and a nice balance to cut through all the carbs, and the sausage patties had that classic savory, slightly greasy breakfast flavor that hits the spot. Service was quick and the overall vibe is casual and easy...good for a laid-back brunch without overthinking it. It's not trying to reinvent breakfast, but it executes the staples really well. Our server susy was super sweet attentive and overall a really cool girl. Oh and the host staff was awesome too. Overall, a dependable spot when you're craving a classic, filling breakfast. Definitely a step above your Dennys ihop or norms tier. Clean and less of the like homeless / sketchy crackhead demographic you'd expect at those 24 / 7 breakfast & lunch joints. Buenos días mi gente. Have a good one.

We got sat very quickly. Server was kind and helped my family. Who normally take a while to order, to hurry up and make decisions lol which i appreciated. Very few places have gluten free pancakes. It was a nice surprise to be able to have some as well for breakfast Oh grab the ices cappuccino, i got the hazelnut flavor. So freaking yummy

I had a great experience here! This location is fairly close to my house, so it is convenient to visit. Our server Miguel was beyond amazing and made the experience a 10/10. Came here on a weekend and they were pretty busy, yet we were seated very quickly! They have a huge menu. Lots of drinks from mimosa flights to coffee beverages. I love the variety here! My iced pineapple matcha drink was really tasty. All of our food was delicious, but MAN those lemon ricotta pancakes sure are next level. Super great spot for brunch!

Came in around noon on a Monday. Seated quickly but didn't get water for a while. Ask for water and refill and took a while. Coffee was refilled quick My server recommended me half and half on the egg Benedict which was such a great idea. I asked all the sauce to on the side which was accommodated Food was cooked fast but I got tiny bits of avocado. Tiny! Tomato too. Wasn't how I pictured it. The green sauce was yummy. But I felt I really didn't get what I paid for. I went home and cut myself half a tomato and half an avocado and ate them. :-/ Prob not come again even tho it's a friendly place.

Choose 2 benedicts: border (left) and fried chicken and waffle (right)
Vivian N.

The tropical flight (subbed guava for orange) was delicious across the board. Strawberry was my favorite. Super well-balanced, lightly boozy, and each one came topped with fresh fruit that was the perfect finishing touch. The Choose 2 Benedicts were solid. The Border Benedict had a creamy green sauce with carne asada (flavorful, not spicy) and the corn cake soaked up the sauce nicely. The chicken & waffle Benedict was good; waffle slightly sweet but balanced. Hollandaise was excellent. Only wish the eggs were runnier. Biscuits were a bit dry but decent with the peppery gravy. Chicken tenders were very well seasoned. Definitely coming back to try more!

Breakfast

Busy breakfast joint! It was a rainy Saturday morning, and we were looking for a good brunch in Irvine. Unfortunately everything had a crazy wait! Fortunately Broken Yolk had a Yelp wait list we could add our name to, so we shaved off about 10 minutes from our wait time while we drove there. I think we waited about 5 minutes once we arrived at the restaurant. We were seated in a corner booth which was nice and roomy for a party of 3. The food mediocre. I ordered chicken and waffles, and got 4 super dry tenders on top of waffles. Nothing was fantastic imo. I've dined at the HB location many times, and I remembered it being better than this. My mimosa was good though! :)

My mom and I were in the mood for some Easter brunch and decided to try this spot after having always driven past it. Even though Yelp said we were 21st in line, we ended up getting seated 5ish minutes after checking in. it's a cute and welcoming spot, though the light above our booth kept flickering in and out (?). I ordered the golden state benedict, my mom got the hash skillet, and we got a side of bacon. The first pass of our meal came out soon after ordering. I say first pass because we had to send 2 of our items back to the kitchen: my hashbrowns (that accompanied my benedict) and the side of bacon. The overarching word to describe our meal is "limp." My hash browns were limp. I don't think I've ever been served limper hashbrowns. I'm not one to send food back to the kitchen (I'll usually just tough it out), but I wanted crispy hashbrowns and these were just not up to par whatsoever. The bacon was also limp and chewy. Our server kindly took both dishes back to the kitchen, and everything came back a bit crispier soon after. My benedict itself was underwhelming. The English muffin was either severely undertoasted or not toasted at all. For me, an English muffin should be over toasted to compensate for the heavy hollandaise sauce, runny yolk, and all the residual moisture in a benedict -- this one was just limp again. The hollandaise sauce was too heavy and was missing some acidity to round out the sauce and balance all the flavours out. The sauce itself was also a tad broken, but that was honestly the least of my concerns. The hash skillet was arguably more mid. I want to say it was a 95:5 ratio of soggy potatoes to corned beef. There was maybe a soup spoon of corned beef hiding under the potatoes. TLDR: bland and mid. Disappointing experience, only made better by the fact that prices are fair.

After The Counter…read moreclosed nearby, I really needed a new local burger place when I had a burger craving, and The Cut delivers. I either order The Cut (yes, the $40 burger and fries) or I make my own bleu cheese burger depending on my mood. I'll cut to the chase: is the $40 burger worth it? If you've got $40 to spare and you like burgers, I think it's definitely worth it. I mean, I've had it probably three or four times now, and I'm not some kind of moron who likes setting money on fire (I hope), so it must be good, right? What's unique about it? Basically everything, but obviously the patty of meat is the star of the show, with a unique taste and texture that makes it stand out from a normal ground beef patty, and the cheese is no slouch either. The only negative is that my wife bullies me into ordering it so she can steal a few bites. The regular fries and sweet potato fries are also great. My wife got a steak with her caesar salad one time, and that was delicious too. We usually have the same waiter since we come around the same time/day every time, and he's always great. They also always have a great selection of beers on tap, today they had three different West Coast IPAs and I felt like a kid in a candy store... yum! Normally when writing a review I can come up with some sort of complaint to balance things out, but not really in this case. I mean, I could whine that the burger is $40, but no one is forcing me to buy it (except for my wife). All in all, I think this is one of the best places in Irvine to have a pint of beer and a good meal.

But the Caesar dressing for the salad was amazing with homemade croutons. So let's discuss sauces. Three thousand island - yowsa- and house the cut sauce - my blue cheese sauce - and the ranch dressing! I want more things to dip in the sauces. Next time we will dine in and try more. Definitely a smash hit for a Friday night.

It was tender and juicy and very flavorful. The pork belly sandwich was also nice. The Nashville hot chicken has a kick to it in case you like a bit of spice. For happy hour, there is a variety of familiar simple bites to choose from. We ordered the sliders flight which includes a normal cheeseburger, fried chicken, and pork belly. We also ordered the sea bass crudo which had a tangy, oceanic flavor, highlighting lightness and simplicity. The short rib croquettes were crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. The flavors of each dish did not stand out and were primarily bland, especially the sliders flight. To add, the sauce that was to be paired with the croquettes was extremely cheesy. The taste of the food was uninspiring. When seated in the patio area by the hostess, we were not greeted by any waiter/waitress. For 15 minutes, we were left in a state of confusion. The other servers who were tending to other parties did not even care to see if we were taken care of yet. For years, Hangar 24 has been a place where families can gather, enjoy great food and drinks, listen to live music, and allow their children to safely play and have fun. It has created a welcoming environment that appeals to a broad audience, and that family-friendly atmosphere is one of the reasons so many people continue to return. Last night, however, I noticed a significant change that concerned me. Instead of having the live band perform earlier in the evening, a DJ played first and the band performed much later. Many people, including myself, came specifically to enjoy the live band, and the new format seemed confusing to much of the crowd. As I observed throughout the evening, very few people were dancing during the DJ set. Most guests remained seated, looking uncertain about the change. In addition, some of the music selections and volume level felt inappropriate for a venue that attracts so many families with young children. I noticed several children covering their ears, and many parents appeared uncomfortable. From my perspective, Hangar 24's customer base is largely made up of families. Those families purchase food, drinks, and often stay for several hours while their children enjoy the outdoor space. By scheduling the live band later in the evening, many parents are forced to leave before the performance begins because their children are tired or it is simply too late for a family outing. If the goal is to attract a younger nightlife crowd, a better approach might be to have the live band perform earlier in the evening when families are present and then transition to a DJ later at night for guests who prefer that atmosphere. This would allow both audiences to enjoy the venue without alienating the families who have supported Hangar 24 for years. I am sharing this feedback because I genuinely enjoy coming to Hangar 24 and want to see it continue to succeed. I believe many guests share these concerns, and I hope management will carefully consider how these changes may impact the loyal family customer base that has helped make Hangar 24 such a popular destination. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, A Concerned Customer

I wanted to share some comprehensive feedback regarding a recent experience, aiming to highlight both your successes and areas where further refinement could elevate the customer journey even further. First and foremost, I must commend your team for their exceptional warmth and hospitality. From my initial phone call to the moment I picked up my order, I felt genuinely welcomed and valued. This level of customer service, which often feels lacking in many establishments today, truly sets American Grub apart. It creates a welcoming atmosphere that significantly enhances the overall experience, and I sincerely hope this commitment to friendliness remains a cornerstone of your operation. However, I encountered a couple of points that, in my personal opinion, warrant consideration for improvement. Regarding the payment process, I felt a degree of apprehension about providing my credit card details over the phone. While I understand the operational need to secure orders and prevent potential losses, particularly for larger transactions, for a single item like my bacon cheeseburger, priced at $17.24 including tax, this practice felt somewhat disproportionate. I also noted the 99-cent fee for online payments, which, while minor, might deter some customers who are seeking convenience without additional charges. Perhaps exploring alternative secure payment links for phone orders or adjusting the fee structure for smaller transactions could enhance customer comfort and streamline the process. My primary concern, however, arose upon returning home. Despite ordering a bacon cheeseburger, I discovered the burger completely lacked bacon, as well as any form of sauce or mayonnaise. This oversight had a significant impact on the meal; the absence of these core components rendered the burger quite bland and far from the experience I had anticipated. When ordering a single item, the expectation for meticulous attention to detail is particularly high, as there are fewer variables. Consequently, the overall value of the meal, given the missing ingredients, was not quite met on this occasion. I did reach out to the owner privately via email to discuss these points, and I appreciate their responsiveness and transparency in addressing my feedback, particularly concerning the rationale behind the phone payment policy. It is reassuring to know that your business is open to customer input. My hope is that these observations can serve as constructive input, allowing American Grub to continue refining its excellent service and product quality. I remain a supporter of your local endeavor and look forward to seeing these aspects addressed. Thank you for reaching out. To clarify, all my reviews and communications are crafted solely from my personal experiences and genuine perspectives, not AI. Every word and insight you read is authentically mine, driven by my commitment to provide honest feedback. Even though the review was long..(lol) I wanted to make sure the details are accurate and understandable. Plus I think you and your establishment are great and I wanted to detail that as well Kimberly.
