Menu is HUGE and everything sounds AMAZING. Once we finally decided, the food was just as wonderful as it sounded. Everything tasted great and the service was phenomenal. Had been to a Broken Yolk in San Diego gas lamp district a coiple years ago. It was nothing like this one. We were the second customers in the restaurant. Thomas was our waiter, and was prompt, friendly, and courteous. Only thing he didn't do was mention that the entries were going to be so HUGE!!! That was not a bad thing! The food was hot fresh, and well exceeded our expectations. The buscuit and gravy was gigantic, and the home fries covered half the plate. We ate in Oceanside 0645, and didn't eat again until we arrived home in Tucson 15 hours later. What a meal. Wish we had Broken Yolk in Tucson. read more

My sister, girlfriend and I always eat at the Broken Yoke before our monthly massage. Yesterday the special, which was an asparagas, chicken, pesto sandwich, was absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a coffin to dine in, then this is the place for you. Walking into this establishment is essentially like walking into an effing morgue, or church lobby...idk which is worse. I honestly don't even know why I stayed to have breakfast here with my sweet little girl. Right away I should have left and went to the 101 Cafe, but I didn't, so low and behold here I am doing my first yelp review because it was the first time I ate breakfast in a coffin....a coffin with huge flat screen TVs you can't escape from no matter where you look. Everywhere is brown...just...B-R-O-W-N....the floor, the walls, the fans, the seats...all of it. The servers are borderline comatose, and nobody seems to have their own job....everybody is all over the place. We somehow had three servers, but none of those three servers brought us out our breakfast. Some guy from the back in a hair net, plastic apron, latex gloves, with a perpetual fake smile he attempted to speak to me through brought us our breakfast. The coffee wasn't horrible....ok fine, I give the Belching Joke a 0.5 point....i mean the Broken Yolk....my dear me, did I say Belching Joke? Yes I did. The freaking Belching Joke. The waffles are super dry and came with 4 hairs I did not order cooked into my waffles (gag), the eggs that I ordered as over medium were served to me as barely cooked...as in the whites were running circles around my yolks. Not ok. I want my egg whites to be cooked all the way through, while the yolks jiggle. The sausages are terrible...they might be rubber. The bacon is terrible. Bacon should be greasy AND crisp, not chewy. The bacon also might be rubber.......did I mention I ate this breakfast in a coffin? This place gets negative stars....negative..I only gave a star because yelp made me do it in order to post this. I don't know why anybody would ever go here. I don't know how this place is even allowed to be allowed. Who would go here? Ummmmmm, idk I'm guessing people who don't know what en experience should be...people who don't know what cool is, people who don't care about quality, people who have never been there before and don't know what they are about to throw their money away on, people with zero class. I would NEVER go here again.....the thought of it makes me gag. If you want a good breakfast, go to Einstein Bagels or the 101 Cafe....or get a breakfast burrito from Diego's and take it to the beach at Wisconsin St and watch the surfers. And no, I am not a person with nothing to do but write a bad review because I have too much time on my hands......I'm taking these few minutes to write this as I'm in the middle of studying for an exam. read more

The food was fine, but the service we received from Thomas B was atrocious. My friends arrived and were seated around 10:30. I arrived and joined them around 10:45. Thomas asked me if I wanted something to drink, and I asked for water with no straw. He brought me a water with a straw, and I figured no big deal, he just didn't hear me correctly. But, it turns out this was just the start of him straight up not listening and not caring about anything we had to say. I ordered "toast with butter" with my meal, and he repeated, "so, dry toast." I said, "no, toast with butter, buttered toast." He brought me buttered toast with more butter on the side. Okay, again, maybe a strange kitchen thing. No big deal. Then he came to take a water away for refill and his hand kind of smashed up against a piece of my toast. So, I asked if I could have another piece, since his hand had touched it (am I crazy? That's kind of gross, right?). He looked at me like I was being incredibly rude, and without saying a word, picked up the whole plate and walked away, ignoring me as I said "no, it's okay, just the one piece." He never asked if we wanted plates taken or anything, he just gestured a bit and then reached right over. Every time he came to "check on us" he either would not say a word or was very terse. You could tell he didn't actually want to know if he could get anything else for us. As a matter of fact, I watched him out of the corner of my eye at one point walk up, hesitate next to our table as if he was going to ask if we needed anything, and then turn around to talk to a different table instead. Alright, so, maybe he was having a bad day, maybe he was dealing with some stuff at home, maybe he just isn't very bright, who knows. But this last thing is what has me here writing this review. We got our check at about 11:45. Remember how I mentioned earlier that we had arrived at 10:30? We had been there for about an hour and a half. But when he set the check down he said "be sure to check out with me today." Are you kidding me? You're in that much of a rush that you are going to be snotty about a table of four spending an hour and a half at your restaurant? I will visit other Broken Yolk locations in the future, but someone needs to speak with Thomas about his rude and flippant behavior. read more

It is quite sad when the best part of your breakfast was the toast. I have always heard great things about broken yolk so when one opened up literally 2 minutes away we had to give it a try. Very dissapointed, food was bland and it just seemed like there was no thought in the preparation of the food. Service was good and we did'nt have a long wait, decor was nice as well. I believe this is a case of an awesome mom and pop place getting too commercial but I wouldn't know since I never tried the original. I will however recommend the Beach Break Cafe I have never been dissapointed with their food, the wait is a bit long but worth it. read more

The service was slow - it was crowded, but not that crowded and we waited about a half hour between ordering and receiving not-so-warm breakfast. Great atmosphere. I had an issue with them before but the owners reached out to fix the problem which gets major kuddos from me! They're family owned and caring. Also had an issue with their POS system but they're getting that looked into too. I don't like to go out a lot because when u have a toddler and a 3 month old just loading up and unloading is a challenge in itself. However today me and my wife just happened to be off and decided it was time for some family time. We went down to the Broken Yolk down the street easy to find and no hassle to park which is crazy because it's almost impossible to park in the Trader Joe's parking lot down the way. Needless to say from the moment I walked in to the moment I left Alison was a very attentive server got us a nice table with plenty of space for the kids to not become restless. We were provided a booster seat and a sling for my kids. The food was also great loved my Border Benedict definitely worth a try. Alison was constantly coming to ask us if everything was alright bringing us refills before we even asked and answering questions we had. Overall I dread going to restaurants with my kids in tow for how unpredictable they can be. But at this location Alison gave me the confidence to continue to bring my family here for a great experience. read more

It's was super busy so I can't be too upset we felt a little rushed. I must say, that I wish I could give our server a 5 star, because he made us forget any rushed feeling we had though his thoughtful and honest service. He communicated to us what we may have to wait on and when I had a slightly complicated order he actively listened and made me feel comfortable that it would be made how I asked. Just as I thought, it was! He made sure details to my meal were present event while packed and handling everyone else's orders I'm sure he had. (It was a Sunday morning) his demeanor was calm and collected. He moved with ease and was so respectful and EFFICIENT. I believe his name was Armond? I gave a one star to this restaurant bcz this is my second time to eat at this place and both times i came I was very, very disappointed! If u guys sit in-front of the bar where they picked up the foods you'll see what's going there and what i'm talking about? They were seven services that tending or calling out for what's missing or if it's orders are ready to be serve to their customers..... and while they were doing so, their faces get very close to the foods bcz they were yelling at the cooks saying "if the foods that was ordered are ready to b serve?" So you can see a lot of salivas jumping out of the servers mouth and into their customers foods before it was served! I also noticed the fruits were opened to whatever kinds of contamination's! Maybe if other customers would say something to the manager things might change there a little bit and who knows they might b more aware of my concern and it wouldn't b just my words or complained? read more
