We went to the Oceanside restaurant on father's day and of course it was super busy. The employees were very fast, friendly, and exceptionally courteous. Broken yolk is such a strange place. It's always crowded but the food is literally nothing special. I got the strawberry waffle combo and added home fries. I was expecting like a strawberry compote but to be fair it does just say strawberries and whipped cream on the description. Don't expect real whipped cream either. It's from the can. Waffle was dry. Home fries has potential but they were uncooked. Would like them to be crispy a was not what I was expecting anyways. More like a scalloped potato type cut and floppy. Eggs and bacon were ok. Not the best cook either. Husband had the biscuit and gravy. The biscuit was actually pretty good but there wasn't much gravy and came with a greasy piece of fried chicken. My son had the chilaquiles. I thought it was actually decent but he said it tasted more like pasta sauce and It for sure looked like pasta sauce in color and consistency as well. We stopped in to grab breakfast before starting our journey home. I was able to join the waitlist before we arrived and were seated in about 15 mins. The young man who sat us was so pleasant! He asked how our day was, asked if we have been there before and even pointed out the bathrooms for us. He was very sweet. Our server was on top of things! Very clean establishment and big too! We were sat pretty fast, and greet by our waiter. Soon after we both were in heaven enjoying a fine cup of coffee(for me) and a mimosa for my wife. The food was very good and filling. Chicken and waffles was my choice, with side of eggs and toast. The waffles were so airy on the inside. And the chicken was great. Kinda reminded me of chicken cutlets. Very good. My wife had something fruity as always. Which looked delicious I have to say. A little pricey but worth it. Vegan review I absolutely love the açaí bowl and the vegan breakfast bowl. I had the vegan bowl without siracha because it's not my jam. It was breakfast potatoes with a plant based veggie omelette, plant sausage and half an avocado. Delicious. I could only eat half so I had left overs. Also the açaí bowl is three scoops topped with agave or honey (depends on you) and either granola or almonds with fresh berries on top. It's excellent and filling read more

Extremely sad! We have been going here for years! Loved Theresa the manager and loved Gaby the waitress! We have been bringing our 7lb Yorkie with us every time and has NEVER been an issue. I was able to join the waitlist online and was seated right when I checked in to the restaurant. They were quick with service and food and the kids had fun playing pac-man video games while the parents ate food. Probably won't be stopping by again without a coupon or a deal ‍ We got the ranchero skillet and the chicken & waffle eggs benedict and both were excessively salty. If you like your food to taste like it was washed in ocean water (no judgement if you do) this is the place for you. What really got me was the waffle -- it tasted EXACTLY like the waffles you get at free hotel breakfasts (you know when you put the batter in the cup and make it yourself?) and it really bruised my ego to have paid for that waffle. read more

We chose to sit at the bar, as we did as the Carlsbad location. .very different. The food line is right in front of you so you can see how they are preparing the food. Very disappointing experience at The Broken Yolk. A cashier had to get her manager for help, which was no issue. However, the manager was inattentive and showed very poor leadership. While our to-go drinks were being made, she loudly spoke negatively about another coworker, calling her "awful" and "not a team player."
