A new find locally that we hope will grow in time. Friendly staff, lovely newly remodeled space. Restaurant has a cute outdoor seating area (40) and nice light wood and upholstered booth. Menus is inviting and diverse. We had steak and eggs and meat lovers skillet. Service was excellent by Marcos. The wait for our beverage was a few minutes longer than hoped but Sunday brunch rush is easy to forgive. The meat skillet was good, but steak was dry, tough and not worth keeping on menu if this is the norm. Potatoes (hash browns) were under cooked, not crisp, very pale. Orange juice served in lovely tall glass. Will return for a second try but overall was satisfactory and comparable to an excellent Denny's. My guess is the kitchen needs work? As a past restaurant manager, I can spot when the room is moving well but everyone waiting for plates and food not really up to an excellence it should reach. Looking forward to our next visit with improvements. I suspect a weekday during non-rush-hours might make a big difference. read more

This place is clean and attractive from the inside. They clearly think a lot more of their food than I do. It's expensive based on what you get. I've been there twice, once to try it out and once because it was the only breakfast place around when I was hungry. The first time there I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. It turned out to just be a fried chicken wrap. There was no buffalo sauce to be seen or tasted. The second time, I got a skillet that was really bland. They don't use seasonings at all. The potatoes in there were just so plain. If not for the ham in the skillet, there would be no salt whatsoever. The muffin I got with the meal was $5. The glass of orange juice was $5. That's just insane. This place is just not good enough to be charging what they charge for everyday items like an english muffin and orange juice. I won't be back. read more

My partner and I visited Broken Yolk Cafe a couple weeks after they opened to check them out. It was a mixed experience. I got the Sope Benedict and my partner got the Border Benedict. And because we can't resist fries, we also got a side of fries. The positives: it's really clean and fresh inside. I guess that's to be expected from a brand new restaurant; but I liked the design choices they made. It felt bright and airy. The service was also good. Our server was friendly and checked-in frequently. The misses: unfortunately the food was just okay. There is definitely potential; all the dishes were presented very nicely, they were just lacking much-needed flavor and seasoning. The potatoes didn't have a speck of salt on them, and my partner's poblano sauce definitely could benefitted from some more heat. The carne asada was also pretty bland. My family and I decided to give this place a try since we've never been. We like to try new places! We came on 4/8 at about 730am. I'd have to say this food was okay. Reminds me of a Dennys or IHOP type restaurant, but a little more "classy" and super clean! The hostess/front desk staff was very friendly. Didn't seem as friendly as the front desk staff, but she assisted us with our orders and got each one correct, the way we ordered it. We appreciate that! As previously stated, the food was just okay. I had the country skillet, which consisted of ham cubes, sliced potatoes, bell peppers, onions, scrambled eggs, covered in country sausage gravy. Without the country gravy, the eggs would not have had any flavor to them. The eggs were a little on the dry side and had little to no salt. Once I blended the gravy with everything, it was a little better. My husband had the French toast. He gave me a thumbs up and said it was alright. He had no complaints. One thing I give props to this place for is that it is "kid-friendly"! They have kids menus and high-chairs, which having 3 children, I can appreciate greatly. My kiddos had the pancake with eggs and fruit. My 6 year old loved all of it! She ate the whole thing! As for my 2 year old, she ate mostly everything except the eggs. She normally eats eggs, but for some reason, with these ones, she just didn't want them. I'm assuming for the same reason as I felt, too dry and bland. Overall, the experience was okay. We showed up for an Elite Yelp event but I got the date wrong. Once i realized it, we still decided to stay and eat any way and attend the event on another day. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and seated immediately . The place is bright and clean. I ordered the Americana breakfast and my dining partner ordered the 2 egg breakfast with biscuits and gravy. My eggs were cooked perfectly as ordered. The potatoes were nicely cooked as well, however the bacon was chewy, like beef jerky and my toast was cold and not buttered. I asked for freah toast with butter and got cold toast barely buttered. I give the place one star because once our food was delivered, my dining partner immediately noticed a large HAIR on his plate. We tried to signal the server but he kept walking. After we finally got someone's attention, all they said was, "oh that's not good. I'll get you another plate." No apology. No manager addressed the situation. Nothing was offered like an apology or to remove the item from my bill. It was treated as if no big deal. A hair, a large hair, see the photos, in the food and nothing. Needless to say, I immediately canceled my Elite Yelp reservation and we won't be back because there was no concern that they serve food with hair in it. Things happen but they did nothing to rectify it, or show any concern other than bring another plate where one egg was way overcooked, and this time they put some Whipped butter on the plate but the butter is unsalted and has no flavor. Went with friend for breakfast. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays and looked very neat and new. The temperature inside was on the cool side. Staff was friendly, server seemed to be new to the job. I ordered country fried steak and eggs. The eggs and biscuit was was luke warm. Sausage gravy was excellent. My friend ordered sopas. She was surprised that it was on the bland side and not very warm. Her hash browns were plentiful. Her latte was delicious. Overall, and just okay food experience but not worth a repeat. They have an impressive selection of four different Benedict options, and I went with the Golden State Benedict. It was a perfect combination of flavors with crispy bacon, fresh avocado, juicy tomato, perfectly poached eggs, and an English muffin topped with their rich hollandaise sauce enhanced by a touch of sriracha. Absolutely fantastic! I also had the pleasure of trying their seasonal carrot cake waffle, which just debuted on the menu today, 12/2/2024. Let me tell you--it was absolutely mouthwatering! Place is clean and concept is nice, although overpriced for what they serve. My hubby and I went after having a Dr appt in area. I ordered the classic avocado toast which came out brown and tasteless, if you are going to charge $13 for an avocado toast at least serve fresh avocado, My hubby ordered a sandwhich and requested a side of bbq that never arrived. The server was very polite, although she offered a soda to go......which never arrived. We didn't go at all busy time either, 5 tables. My wife and I went here with excitement to get a well deserved Sunday omelette. When we sat down we were greeted very warmly. We ordered our coffees right off the back my wife noticed old food stains in the silverware, then when we got our coffee there were more stains in the coffee mug. I ordered a latte ( which was nothing special at the price point and tasted like crap) and my wife ordered a regular coffee. We didn't really want to complain about these obvious things. We were looking forward to the omelette. We got the omelette and it was disappointing just by the looks and size. The taste was very average nothing special. The hash browns were extremely oily. I couldn't even finish them. That is a big red fag for me ( I always finish my food I am a really big guy). Nevertheless, I am very disappointed and will not be coming back. read more

Service was polite but slow, understaffed. My lemon riccota pancakes were o.k, not great. The worst thing about the place at Colonade Mall was the loud music! I go to restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy a meal and to converse with my friends. If I want to listen to music I go to a concert, bar, or club, not Broken Yolk. I complained to the manager but she said it was their policy. From now on my policy is to avoid THIS place and any other like it. read more

Service we have is always outstanding because we have gone so often we've gotten to the point where we know some of them by name. Food is pretty good on some of their menu items. I would stay away from some of their south of the border items. If you want those, go somewhere they specialize in them. Sometimes their fruit isn't always the best. Out of season? Who knows. Salads are good but...if you add the chicken it's dry like it's old frozen or not anything special. Ambiance? Well, sometimes their rock music is too loud and not appropriate for the older crowd.
