This one is frustrating because I actually really like the food here. Being from Illinois, my sister recommended Union Station Pizza Company because of their deep dish, and I can honestly say it's some of the best deep dish pizza I've had in California. My issue was with my most recent experience. I'm not a fan of the large tomato chunks in the deep dish sauce, so during a previous visit, an employee told me they could substitute their regular pizza sauce. She warned me that it could make the dough soggier, but I accepted that risk, ordered it that way, and the pizza came out perfect. I returned about two weeks later and ordered it exactly the same way. A newer employee told me he had been instructed never to make a deep dish with that sauce because it could affect the dough. I explained that another employee specifically told me to order it this way and that I had already tried it and loved it. I was willing to pay for it and completely accepted the risk, but he still refused to make it. I don't blame the employee because he made it clear that he was new and was simply following the instructions he had been given. My issue is with the inconsistency and how the situation was handled. I ended up leaving with nothing because they refused to make an order they had made for me just two weeks earlier. The pizza itself is great, but this was a very disappointing customer service experience. I have never been to any establishment in my life and been turned away because they couldn't make a very minor adjustment to a food order that I had already previously ordered there. read more

I was invited to try Union Pizza Company, a fast casual pizza spot in MB, as Yelp LA West and the restaurant offered selected Yelp Elites a complimentary experience. I chose a medium NY-style pizza and was surprised that the cheese tasted different than what I'm used to. The friendly owner, who checked up on our table, offered up some info that they had recently changed to Grande cheese, which is a higher quality pizza cheese that has hype in the foodie community. The crust tasted really fresh and had a nice softness. I also ordered a slice of their Chicago style, and think that this is where this place really stands out. This is not just thick fluffy crust that is being called Chicago crust -- here it's real Chicago crust which is more cakey,bready, buttery than what other places usually claim is Chicago crust. They put the toppings on the bottom and then the sauce, just like you're at Lou Malnati's or another Chicago place. I love that they sell it by the slice(!) for their flavor of the day. This is unusual as you usually have to buy a whole pie for Chicago deep dish crust. Service was excellent, they really take care of you here and want you to be happy. My boyfriend had just landed at LAX Friday night, and since Union Pizza Company was so close, we ended up here and I'm really glad we did. It's right by Bristol Farms so there's lots of parking available in the lot. We got a personal deep dish Flame Veggie with chicken added and a thin crust with roasted garlic, sautéed onions, pepperoni, hot Italian sausage, meatballs, ricotta, and fresh basil. We asked for both extra crispy and wow, yes. That was absolutely the move. The deep dish was warm and cheesy and comforting, and the thin crust had that crispy little bite that makes you immediately go back for another slice. The medium spicy sauce was perfect too. Rachel was such a sweetheart, and the whole staff was genuinely warm and welcoming. We had a little time while the pizzas were cooking, so we wandered next door for beers, cookies, and flowers. I came back to this pizza place after an amazing first visit experience and customer service. Their new hire, Willie, was so kind and attentive and helped me when they were closed during their equipment maintenance because I couldn't return a few hours later to order and eat my pizza. So he made me one right then with a smile on his face! One of my regular lunchtime rotations! They have a great lunch special starting around $10 that includes fountain drink. Options include 2 thin slices, a slice and salad, or a thin slice and deep dish of the day. The pizzas are tasty and fresh. Both the kitchen team and front of house are friendly and work quickly. The spot is on the small side, but the shared patio makes it easier to dine onsite with the family. There's a few additional daily pricing specials, and if you're on the email list, there's other promotions frequently mailed out. The ONLY issue I have - for which I'm not even knocking down any stars - is that the shop has no A/C. On hot days (and we've had a few that are definitely out of the LA norm) it is too hot and stuffy to sit inside. I feel bad for the team having to work with ovens when it is already that warm. Assuming this is an issue with the building itself, though I've been at Rice, two doors down, and have not had the same experience. In fairness, I don't believe Rice has ovens, as it is a Japanese restaurant. Whether the building or the business owner, someone has got to get Union Pizza a functional A/C unit! I ordered from Union Pizza again and this will likely be my last order. The quality of their food has severely diminished. It was so good and fresh prior. Now it appears the food and delivery orders are not prepared as they should be, nor are they sealed for the customer's protection. Pizza boxes should be sealed and they used to be. My most recent order was not. The pizza used to be cheesy with a lot of pepperoni, even for a small pizza. Now it tastes mostly like chunky tomato sauce. The salads typically contained fresh, crisp romaine hearts. My most recent salad contained the dark green parts of the lettuce, which is not only bitter but limp. The salads do not contain enough dressing and orders do not contain utensils or napkins. My salad was not sealed nor was the bag it was contained in. Do not waste my time or money. Their food is not cheap. As such, put forth the effort or don't serve people. read more

My kids loved the chicken penne pasta with the pink sauce! We came here on a Saturday evening and it was decently busy. We sat indoors but there is a lot of nice outdoor seating in the plaza as well. My daughter was really excited to try the chicken penne pasta and it did not dissappoint. Both my kids devoured it. Any place that makes food my kids like is a hit with me. Sounds weird to say but...this spot had not great pizza but awesome wings. Should really convert into a wing shop ! Maybe I'm spoiled by living next to Pizzeria Sei's delicious world class $30 Michelin Guide pizzas but truth be told, for ~$30, the pizzas here were just okay if not no bueno. The toppings were not as fresh as I'd wish them to be, the prosciutto was somehow baked until the texture resembled cooked ham, & the gyro meat was really tough but had a nice smokey flavor to it. When paired with the generous potion of tomato sauce, the flavor of the gyro meat was masked and it tasted like eating hard chewy tomato forward meat. The dough was a little tough, burnt, overcooked and it was hard to rip each bite off of the slice. The owner was nice to offer us the option of two flavors per one pizza but if you look at the topping list and the pics, honestly the flavor profile won't really change with the different toppings. It was just marinara pizza with some slightly different meats. Now the WINGS on the other hand. They stole the show. They were light, crispy, juicy, and succulent. The lemon pepper was perfectly seasoned and the accompanied ranch was a nice touch. We got both the spicy ranch and the lemon pepper. The seasoning for both these options oddly appeared to be the exact same wing with the spicy ranch not being spicy at all, was speckled with a faint red flake spice and lacked the lemon pepper seasoning. Service was okay, the servers looked like they weren't happy to be there and the menu was a little confusing to understand at a first glance. We initially came in wanting to order a medium pizza, wings and at least one deep dish slice to try but the server kept saying we couldn't order deep dish pizzas by slice despite it being on the menu. We couldn't quite understand why so we chose to forgo that. * before ordering the server pointed to a sign that said if we wanted to order a deep dish pizza it'd take 30 minutes to make. However, it was ironic that even though we decided to order the NY Thin crust + wings (which both came out at the same time), both of those also took 30 minutes to make even though we were the only two people in the restaurant at that time. I have been to this shopping center thousands of times, but never tried this place. It is nice looking with plenty of patio seating. I ordered online, I went with a 9 inch union pie for two with mushroom and basil. The pie was foretasted to be ready by 19:15, 19:04 I get a text saying it is ready. I was greeted by the attendant, I told her I was there for a pick up, five seconds later I was out the door. They had the customary red pepper and parmesano cheese packet. When eating it it smelled awesome, rich sauce. The crust was on the drier side, but still good. The roasted garlic were a bit under roasted, I love garlic so it was not a deal breaker for me. Let me start off by saying the pizza was a 10/10. It took about 35 mins for the deep dish to come out but had order some wings while I waited. I got their new sweet chili (fireee) and their new ranch flavored wing (basically a non salty version of lemon pepper, I'd 100% recommend you get tired of the salty lemon pepper wings). I literally can't get enough of their deep dish pizza, it's so good! One of the only downsides is, that they close at 9:00 so you have to get your order in by around 8:15. The Classic Deep Dish is my personal favorite, it's the one I keep going back to. The NY style pizzas are not bad, but I prefer Prime Pizza or South Bay Pizza for their NY styles.
