Got the Waygu dumpling. Very flavorful very tender and delicious dump fillings one of my favorites so far really enjoyed this place when you just wanted a quick little bite.

I love this spot! The staff is very nice and will always say hi to anyone walking in! I sat there for a while to do some work and they made sure to check up on me and make sure I was doing good. The place is a vibe, I really enjoy the energy, and the dumplings are fire!!!

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop is a fun little shop. It's an dumpling automat themed shop. When you walk in your order from a digital kiosk. You wait for your food to be prepared, then when available they come out of the cubby in the automat. If you want something quick and aren't in the mood to to anyone it's good because it's free of human interaction. They open till 10 pm and have a bar with beers and wine. I wish it was open later. This is something that would be cool after a late night. I wish I could give a higher rating, but the dumplings are meh and are small portions for the price. The first time I got the vegan dumplings which didn't have much flavor. The second time I got the Mac and cheese dumplings which tasted like stoffers Mac and cheese inside a dumplings. They were fun, but not great. Each order of dumplings is about $12 after tax and tip. Come her for the gimmick and you'll enjoy it. If you come solely for the food you'll be disappointed.

I like the decor of the small shop. The outdoor seatings are nice with a few tables and a lounge chair. Inside there are a few bar stools with a ledge table. This is pretty much self-serve. No human interaction needed, unless you have an issue. 1 staff is there in the back. You order at the kiosk. It gives you a receipt with a barcode on it. Look at the e-board to the right side above the automats (they look like lockers). Find your name and wait for it to say ready. If you scan before then, it will say not ready anyways. When it says ready, scan your receipt barcode, it will tell you the locker number and then that locker will slowly open for you to take your food out. Voilà. Enjoy your food. I had the pork dumplings in broth. That was delicious. Yum yum. Not too spicy. My favorite for dumplings. It is about $9 for 5 dumplings in the soup. It had some rice at the bottom. It is filling, especially since I drank all the soup. That is a meal for me, but if you wanted to try a few types of dumplings, you can share with a friend. I've also tried their fried dumplings, but frankly I don't like crispy fried dumplings. The insides were flavorful, but I'm not totally converted. I would still recommend if you wanted to try out the novelty of the automats since not many places have this.

They have multiple locations, but the Upper East Side one just opened in June. It's easy to either order through their website or from the kiosk at the restaurant. The food is ready quickly and placed in these nifty lockers. I've tried both the Pork & Cabbage Potstickers (dumplings) and the Spicy Pork Soup Dumplings. The Spicy Pork Soup Dumplings were my favorite. They have so much flavor! The combo is a good deal. I LOVE the waffle fries! It's a strange combination, but the waffle fries are well seasoned and taste so good. I'll be a regular here!

Wagyu beef dumplings (steamed) and hibachi noodles

Pretty good. The dumplings were fairly tasty but pretty small (I guess they're on par with the price though). The hibachi noodles were hot and flavorful but kinda tasted like something you'd get at a Panda Express or a mall food court -- but again for just 4 bucks it's a nice satisfying snack, just thought this place had more of a freshly made kind of vibe.

Great Addition to the UES. My four year old loves dumplings so we decided in this place before we head to the library around the corner. We ordered at the kiosk and while we waited an employee gave him a sticker and paper and crayons to draw. Picking up our order at the automat was so cool my toddler scanned the bar code and waited for the tiny doors to open and he grabbed his food. The kids meal comes with a savory and sweet option, waffle fries, an apple juice and real plastic beginners chop sticks for 10$! The packaging was super cute and easy to take to go. We will be back to try the other options and the beer!

Excellent new addition to the UES! Welcome to the neighborhood. Step up to the machines, order the dumplings and then sit back until your order arrives in the automat. Shop is relatively small but there is counter seating on the inside and seats set up outside. I tried the Kung Pao Chicken dumplings and thoroughly enjoyed them. I will definitely be back to try their other selections. Hope they have a long life here in the UES!

Food: Delicious food from traditional dumplings like Pork and Cabbage to Specialty dumplings like Mac and Cheese and Bacon Cheeseburger (wow) and my favorite Chicken Parmesan (yum). They also have amazing Apple Pie dumplings as well as Hot Chocolate Brownie dumplings that are mouth watering. Dumplings in Broth are great for winter season and their delicious waffle fries are great year around. Service: Top notch service, super fast and efficient, order foos through the automated kiosk, pay with card or Apple Pay and food is always cooked fresh and ready in 7-10 minutes, and always served hot. Ambience: Beautiful small local spot that's always clean and fresh inside. Has plenty of seating inside and outside. Wall mounted tables with chairs, also bar seating available where they serve cold beers on tap as well as red, white or rose wine. Highly recommended for anyone who craves dumping. Give it a chance. You won't be disappointed.

    Such a beautiful Ambiance

We wandered over here after visiting the Empire State Building; it was only a five minute walk away! We went after watching the sunset, so around 8-ish, and were pleasantly surprised we didn't have to wait for a table. The atmosphere was bright and lively, but not too much to bring our seven-year-old. We ordered: PORK DUMPLINGS-- best thing we ordered. My. Goodness. The broth was perfectly seasoned and silky. Was always a little sad after the last bit of soup from each dumpling was slurped. ;) Meat inside was tender and flavorful and the wrapper wasn't too thin or thick. Just the right thickness to keep the soup inside until you were ready, but not so thick that it was too chewy or distracting from the contents. Also ordered, the SPICY BEEF DUMPLINGS as recommended by our server. They were yummy. Tasty soup and beef had a deeper flavor. Not too spicy. Next time, we will probably just order extra pork dumplings or try something new. We ordered the SCALLION PANCAKES. I prefer my scallion pancakes thinner. These were a lot like the thickness of a dense pita. Still enjoyed them-- still a nice texture that was both soft and crispy, perfectly greasy, and flavorful. CRISPY CHILI CHICKEN (or something like that) was good but nothing special. Had some heat but not too spicy. CUCUMBER SALAD-- was a nice cold addition to the meal. Loved the sesame oil, just wish there was more, as well as more flavor. We ended up pouring a little soy sauce on top and that helped. I thought it was nice to chase a bite of crispy chili chicken with a bite of cucumber. WHITE RICE-- we ordered three orders of rice that was perfectly prepared, but way too much for three adults. Not complaining, but each bowl would have probably been enough for two adults. Can't wait to return!

Our nits: one of the items we ordered got lost somehow, though they never admitted it; we had to keep asking for the item, and it finally came after we had finished all of our other items. There was no apology or offer to give us a discount for their misstep. Also, when we showed up for dinner there was a 30 minute wait and one had to stand in the hallway during that wait. Next time we'll swing by earlier to get the check-in code to find out how long the wait is in advance. The good news is that our first three items came out pretty quickly after ordering; and the place is very fast with the turnover.

Dish highlights include the shrimp and chive dumplings, beef chow fun, and my personal favorite, the stuffed eggplant. Other items were a little bland, like the turnip cakes and har gow, and the pan fried shrimp noodles were awkwardly plated and made them difficult to eat. I also wish they had rice noodle rolls, which I didnt see on the menu. Really what pushed it to 5 stars to me was the service. We came as a huge group of 20, with a baby and stroller in tow, and they handled everything without so much as a grimace, just an outpouring of helpfulness. They sat half our group at a round table and the other half at a rectangular long table and also helped us navigate dietary restrictions, asking specifically who in the group had those restrictions. The menu is labeled too, so you know which items are vegetarian or gluten free. At one point our helpful server noticed we hadn't really touched that awkwardly plated noodle dish and offered to replace it with another. We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

Lobster with ginger and scallions - 4 stars - Cantonese lobster dish that I've had countless of times. Ok. Mapo tofu - 4 stars - I don't care for tofu but L loved this dish.. even asked for a fork so he could pick up the tofu faster. Kung fu shrimp - 4 stars - fried shrimp in shell with a lot of chili peppers. Brought half of it home and added my own colossal shrimp to it and it was delicious. My shrimp was better but the chili peppers made them even more flavorful. My favorite dish was still the beef tendon and I should've ordered it again on my second visit but we wanted to try different things. Place was always packed but we never had to wait long for a table. Service was great. Refilled our waters and changed our plates when they noticed lobster shells were piling up. I won't point out any particular dish as being awful or exceptional, because that's the problem I have with this place overall. Nothing stands out in any sort of way. Everything here kind of just tastes the same, which bothers me because the flavor profile of these dishes should all be tasting vastly different. Most of the dishes carry this overwhelmingly strong oil taste, especially in their fried meats, that kind of just makes them all taste kind of mediocre. The typical Dim Sum dishes, while serviceable, just kind of feels rushed flavor wise with little care put into them, leading them to taste kind of like nothing. The only dish that I would actively order is their noodle, which carries a more distinct light yet rich flavor that complements their noodles, but even then I feel as though the meat and egg feel like afterthoughts in the dish that don't really add to it in any way. The last problem I have with this place is their sauce station, which though kind of them to offer quite a few sauces to add to your dim sum, is just a really messy and unsanitary area which threw off my meal. I wanted to like this place, given that I love eating dim sum, but this wasn't it for me.
