    Upside down
    Alex M.

Anytime I'm in the area, I just have to stop for some L&B style upside down pie. The sauce is so flavorful and balanced. Pair that with the perfect crust, and you've got a pizza that knocks it out of the park. If you're not about the red sauce, give the vodka slice a try, which is a close second. Staff is friendly, service is quick, and indoor seating is plentiful. Your typical pizza joint atmosphere with not your typical pizza.

    Delicious especially the 3 cheese!

I was originally going to give Brooklyn Square Pizza 4 stars based on my first visit, but today I had their 3 cheese with garlic and olive oil square pizza slice and LOVED it! I have to give this place 5 stars because that pizza was so amazing! Their Peters and upside down is also very good too! Their pizza is soft, moist, and doughy. I'm definitely adding Brooklyn Square to my rotation. I highly recommend Brooklyn Square Pizza in Manalapan!

Visited the Brooklyn Square for the first time after hearing so much about it. Tried their most famous upside down and vodka slices. The pizza was very soft but the flavors were ok. It was very basic and nothing extra ordinary. I didn't think it was worth the hype. Service was good.

    Thiccccness of the upside-down Sicilian

So this review is just for the upside down Sicilian dine-in, but, WOW, I LOVE this pizza! The sauce was awesome both flavor-wise and texturally (ever-so-slightly chunky, which I love), the cheese was perfectly melted, and that dough thoooooo. Very slight crisp on the bottom but overall doughy and chewy, which is EXACTLY what I like (but understand that's not everyone's preference). I love when there's some weight behind the dough and it's not just completely airy floof. Our server was also sooo friendly and even offered to move us to a larger table to help make the pizza not feel so crammed on our table even though we were just two people. A fair amount of seating inside, I would say maybe for 20ish people. It's a good thing we live so far away, otherwise, we'd probably be here once a week. Highly recommend!

Square crust pies were really good, but there was a staple (yes, like from the office supply) in my eat-in slice. Counter girl was receptive and offered me a new slice, but it was going to be from the same pie.... In my opinion they should have scrapped that whole pie for safety reasons. Staple aside, the upside down was delicious and the crust had a nice crunch. The person I was dining with had 2 slices from that pie that did not have staples, so I was just "lucky" The staple fiasco swap out did give me the opportunity to try the round pie slice. I didn't realize there was sesame seeds on the crust... not a fan as I can't eat seeds like that. The slice was thin and held up / wasn't floppy but I didn't love it though. Stick with the square pie - portnoy rated it 8.9 at the Jackson location.

The pizza wasn't bad.. I'd say a step above mid.. same with the service.. not bad but again a step above mid.. typical pizza shop.. I've had pizza in Brooklyn as well as many Brooklyn oriented spots in Nj, idk if I'd put them up there amongst the greats. But again it wasn't bad.

    chicken caesar salad pizza

not pictured here but also had the pepperoni sicilian slice. That was really good. Also had the chicken caesar salad slice which wasn't bad either. Great pizza here

A guy was on social media telling me the square pizza at Brooklyn Square Manalapan is better than L&B Gardens. (Camera deadpans to my face) Better?! First, we're in Jersey and the place says Brooklyn. No shame in their game Second, how do you even say Manalapan?? I'm born and raised in Brooklyn. We invented things here! People have fond memories of Brooklyn and for me, L&B Spumoni Gardens is what I hold near and dear to my heart. Heading to the strip mall in Manalapan, I spot Brooklyn Square. I park in the back and walk inside. Just a typical pizza place that you'd find, well in Brooklyn. Jersey pizza, I have to be on guard. Jersey is famous for their "Bar pizza". It has a story, anything outside of New York is dopey to me so let them enjoy their nonsense. I go to the register and show the girl the social media picture. I'd like this slice please. Coming right up sir. I grab a nice Manhattan Soda and sit to enjoy my pizza. Alright! The pizza is good! Nice crust, the sauce isn't sweet or overpowering and the cheese is a high end blend. I hate a wet, sloppy pizza square. I have seen Dom from Difara take crust out of the pan with his bare hands. The Brooklyn-Manalapan pizza makers have the secret formula for Brooklyn pizza. Did you steal our water? Tell me!!!! Haha Listen, I'm not going to throw shade on L&B. Brooklyn Square Pizza makes a damn good slice of pizza in Manalapan. Keep your cardboard bar pizza New Jersey, make more squares.

Eggplant hero loaded up but needs some flavors... salt, pepper, garlic, and basil would help.
    Rhonda D.

All in all, pretty good experience eating here the first time ever. I especially enjoyed the sesame seed crust on the pizza. My my my, how DELISH it is. If you order the eggplant beware that what it lacks in flavor it more than makes up for in presentation and size. I added some of my own seasoning once I got home and it was perfect after that... Go try this place. The server girl with the short hair and the older gentleman (chef) are very nice. Spread love, it's the Brooklyn way!

Finally, made it!!! Saucy Sicilian slice is excellent! Worth the wait. They're from Brooklyn & the pizzas are damn near perfect. I love a saucy slice & this didn't disappoint. Not overly cheesy, faint Romano flavor. &3.75 finally see what all the fuss is about. A real treat made with love, very fresh, stand up crust, mace the Brooklyn way!

A friend was sent to introduce me to Brooklyn Square Pizza. Knowing that I come from Brooklyn, New York and that some of the best pizzerias are located in Brooklyn, he knew this would be a difficult task. However, I will say Brooklyn's pizza was perfect; the sauce the cheese to the Dough was nicely cooked. I will even go out of my way to say that it could compete with some of the best pizzerias in Brooklyn. The staff at this location was super friendly, and I was thankful that I finally could visit a place that everyone in New Jersey talks about; I would highly recommend this establishment. I would also recommend the other location in Jackson, New Jersey. Both locations get extremely busy on the weekends, but well worth the wait.

The crab rangoon was surprisingly good. This appetizer is what made me pick this place. Such a good combination. Didn't need the marinera sauce. Next up soups. Lobster bisque was ok. I guess I was expecting it to be a little more rich. But it was good, it tasted exactly like lobster and I got good chunks in the soup too. Now the shrimp and corn chowder was super flavorful. Favorite dish of the meal. For mains, cold lobster roll and two tails w butter and side salad. Side salad was well dressed and I appreciate the ribbons of Parmesan. The lobster was mostly cooked right. There was one that was a bit chewy. Added salt and butter but felt like something was missing still. I couldn't find a good combo of toppings to go with the lobster. The cold lobster roll was alright. The potato bread added a good sweet flavor that complimented the lobster. Overall a decent meal.

Dinner was also very good. Just about everyone ordered something different, and we left pretty happy. The only issue was the music. I don't know if this is the case for the entire restaurant, but the downstairs had bouncy ukulele covers for the entirety of our time there. It was also a bit too loud. I felt like I had to get up to hear someone sitting a few people away from me, or speak too loud to for shared space because there's a bouncy ukulele covers of Without You by The Kid LAROI. They were running late since the whole front was full of people not seated. We ordered within 10-15 mins, however were told that they were out of a Mother's Day special and bread. BREAD! The excuse from a manager was that they ordered fresh bread from a vendor. What I gathered is that they did not take a look at their reservations, and decided not to order more to accommodate everyone. Mind you, it was only 7pm. The people behind us had been complaining of not getting their food, which should've been a signal. All around us, no one was getting their food, and the food coming out of the kitchen was sparse. Pretty sure they overloaded the kitchen staff, and the waiters took the heat because all I heard/saw was them apologizing for the long wait. If you ordered drinks or raw seafood, you got that ok. Otherwise, you would be SOL. We did not get any food until 8:20!!! And that includes our appetizers. Our entrees came out about 10-15 mins later because our waiter put in everything so there was no downtime. This included hungry children, which was just basically Mac and cheese, which we needed to be reheated cause it was so watery. All we got from the manager was a sorry. Even after we told them that this was bad managing of food service, number of reservations, etc. They did not offer any discount for the wait of our reservation or food. No 'hey', here's a complimentary dessert. Nothing but "sorry". Seems like a money grab that night. After spending $500-$600 on a very lackluster meal, which I feel many patrons that night felt, I would highly suggest spending your money elsewhere.

Surveying our surroundings, we decided that it was clean and bright, not really all that bad. We started with calamari, my friend ordered grilled shrimp, her daughter had the kids spaghetti, and I went for the lobster dinner. We all scarfed down the nicely fried and tender calamari, marinara sauce seemed a little thin but it didn't matter. My friend liked her shrimp which came with a choice of 2 sides. Her daughter loved the pasta, mom tried and agreed. But my lobster stole the show. It was a 1.5 pounder and perfectly steamed and eviscerated for easy consumption. I chose the Spanish rice and grilled veggies, veg was ok, rice was excellent with the addition of diced up carrots and onion. The crustacean itself was as good as it gets, so addictive I considered getting another. The $35 price seemed fair, and the other 2 meals were even more of a bargain. Service was professional and friendly, we all had fun eating here. I think the trick with places like this is sticking to what they do best and sell the most of. I'm curious to see how their scallops are, but might just stick with lobster. BYOB too!
