I let her know upfront that I have a severe fear of needles. Instead of focusing on how we could work around that, she repeatedly told me that I should consider therapy. She also told me that my fear of needles--and even pain--is "all in my mind" and that I need to learn to separate what's happening in my brain from what I'm feeling in my body. Hearing that once would have been one thing, but she repeated it several times. Eventually I became emotional and politely asked her to stop because the conversation itself was making my anxiety worse. At that point, she appeared visibly frustrated, ended the exam, and referred me elsewhere, saying I would be better served by a provider who could offer "safe" dental care because I was "not safe" due to my fear of needles and pain. What made this especially disappointing is that several members of my family see this dentist and have told me she is usually very patient with people who struggle with dental anxiety and fear of needles. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I can tolerate needles and painful procedures when I'm treated with patience, empathy, and respect. What I struggled with was having therapy repeatedly suggested while I was already in a vulnerable position. I came in looking for dental care, not a psychological evaluation. The reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the rest of the staff was kind and professional. They were apologetic when their X-ray equipment wasn't working properly, which required removing and repositioning the sensor several times. They handled that situation as well as they could. My issue wasn't with the staff--it was with how I felt dismissed and judged by the dentist. If you have dental anxiety or a fear of needles, I think it's important to know that experiences may vary significantly depending on how your concerns are addressed- and maybe the mood of the dentist. Looking at other reviews I'm not the only one who isn't impressed with her attitude towards patients.

I was lucky enough to be allowed to join this family dentistry establishment and I am very impressed. Dr Abittan is so competent, informative and professional with a truly warm nature. I was truly impressed by her attitude and welcoming me as a new patient. I also got an appointment one day later for a cleaning which amazed me I expected to wait a few weeks. The hygienist and assistant who took care of me today were so pleasant and kind and explained everything and made me feel totally part of the Evergreen Family. I highly recommend them. He's nice and informative and gives you all the possible options so you're able to make an informed decision about the work your teeth need. Located on the 2nd floor, elevator, handicapped parking available, and wheelchair accessible entrance and bathrooms. General parking can get tight as there's several doctor offices in the area. She did not want to go back to her previous dentist who she called the "butcher". My dentist who I found in Carson City had retired so I was looking for a dentist too. So we searched Yelp and found Reno Dental Associates. Fortunately, Dr. Nelly Hashem had a cancellation and we went in the same day. We were very happy to see how professional, CLEAN, and happy her offices were. The emphasis here is Clean and Happy. Check in was very pleasant and surprisingly quick. I watched the entire treatment especially since I need some dental work done in the near future. Regina, the dental technician was extremely friendly and obviously knew what she was doing. Dr. Nelly examined my wife and talked pleasantries to both of us. She followed her husband, a cardiologist, to Reno and has fallen in love with the community. My wife has "white coat hypertension" (she is unnerved at going to a dentist). Regina had very nice Spa music going in the background and never left the treatment area. This was the most relaxed I have seen my wife of 30 years be in a dental office. Dr. Nelly took the time to explain her practice, education, and her background. Regina was a 2nd generation Reno native. Both were very clear, friendly, and kind explaining every step involved in capping my wife's tooth. As small business owners, we are cash payers. Bottom line, the practice explained each item to be billed and offered a 10% discount to cash payers. They gave us the worst case scenario BEFORE any treatment began and we were surprised at how competitive their pricing was. Given this impromptu visit, we have decided to both have Dr. Nelly and Regina be our dental professionals going forward. FYI. I am 60 and my wife is 55. I am a retired medical researcher (UC Davis) and my wife is a managing editor of a medical journal (also a UC Davis alum). We moved to Reno from CA eight years ago when our youngest daughter went to UNR for her undergraduate degree. We elected to stay in Midtown when she went to Columbia University (New York) for her graduate degree. We love Reno and plan to fully retire here. I am more than disappointed to have to write this review, unfortunately, I have experienced a…read moreneglect in the customer service from the office. The recent process of dental work that I have had recently has left me looking for another dental office. During my visit in September 2025, I was informed that my bridge was 'failing' and in addition I had a cavity underneath a crown, and in addition to that, an adjacent tooth had to be removed. To me, as a lay person, this sounded like a tremendous amount of work and cost. I felt the office manager or Cercek should have sat down with me and gone over various options. However, I was only given a referral to an oral surgeon for implants. Implants did not seem to be a good option for me after having an appointment with the referral dentist. Aside from the exorbitant cost, the x-ray showed that I would need a 'sinus uplift'. The oral surgeon did not even bother to discuss the fact that I have periodontal disease and how that can sometimes complicate issues and even having the implants 'fail'! On my own, I researched other options such as a partial denture. I was very disappointed that no information or options were given to me by the office. I, again, had to research on my own what would potentially be my reimbursement from the insurance company because Cercek is out of network. I only had $825 left for 2025. In 2026, the maximum reimbursement would be $1,500. Because I did the research, I decided to split the dental work that needed to be done over December 2025 and January 2026. I made an appointment for December 17, 2025 and another for the partial on January 14, 2026 shortly after the September visit. I later found out (at the 17th appointment) that a minimum of 6 weeks is required for healing. From the 17th of 2025 to the 14th 2026 is only 4 weeks! My appointment was moved up one week to the 10th of December, but even still that is not 6 weeks! From my researching, yet again, I found out that healing can take up to 3 months. The fact that the office didn't take the time to help me in scheduling is a gross neglect! Back in 2011 I had the adjacent tooth pulled, the oral surgeon packed the gum with cadaver bone and put in a couple of stiches. The tooth that Cercek pulled had bone loss, and I even asked if there would be bone filled in, and the answer was no with no explanation. No stiches either. Why would I go in for a measurement for a partial denture when my gums/mouth are not completely healed. That makes no sense. So, I called to cancel my appointment for the 14th and to relay these complaints to your office manager. I was told she was in a meeting. Did not receive a call back, so called again and was asked if I could be put on a 'brief hold', which I did. 10 minutes after being on hold, I hung up. Called back yet again and was asked 'what is a good time that the office manager could call you back.' Very, very poor customer service. And this is not even the whole story, but that would require a very very lengthy review.
