Brooks tavern is a great spot to come to after a long adventurous day or just for a casual dinner and drinks. We loved the small space (only about 10 tables and then seating at the bar) and even when it's busy, they don't really have a long wait. Our server was great and she was definitely busy! The food was out of this world. They give you a nice generous portion of the fish and chips. The monte cristo was also fresh and the ham was nice and smokey. We LOVED the fries. Whatever they add to those fries.....omg. We actually came back the next night because the food was soooo good! We love everything about this place and can't wait to come back. Love this quaint tavern/pub. It's clean and the staff are super friendly. Not super large for dining or catering to larger parties, but the food is great so stop on in if you are a smaller party (5 or less). The only mishap of the night was the kitchen forgot about my Dad's fish and chips order so the rest of the family was done eating by the time he was served. We only spent a few days in Hendersonville, but Brooks Tavern was definitely our favorite place. It is a fun and friendly bar/restaurant. We opted to sit at the bar and have a couple beers with a bite of dinner. Service was great by a friendly bartender (can't remember his name!), who offered some beer suggestions and took good care of us. There was a TV at the bar with some football on, which was a nice touch. I had the Brooks Burger which was very good. The fries that came with it were also good, not necessarily great. They seemed to lack any seasoning and not much flavor. I considered the pricing to be very reasonable. I'd definitely stop back in when in Hendersonville. read more

So yummy! We stopped by at 6:30pm and couldn't tell if it was self-seating or not but we waited at the front door awkwardly until we were greeted. The gentleman who helped us was very nice. He gave us a 15-min wait for a table (we didn't want to sit at the bar) and it was probably less than that before he came to seat us. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my husband got the burger with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, and bacon. The fries were delicious -- reminded me of Five Guys fries, fresh and hand cut, and well seasoned. They had a nice tap selection, good wine options, and a solid cocktail menu. The meal was very satisfying! I loved the deli pickles on the sandwich instead of hamburger dill chips. Kind of wishing I had tried the beer cheese or Buffalo egg rolls -- next time! My only note for those who are trying to enjoy a night out while abiding by COVID-safety measures is that this would not be the spot for you. No one was masked including wait staff, and there was zero social distancing. The bar was packed as was every table. This didn't bother us as we are vaccinated and were seated at a table in the corner that kept us somewhat secluded, and we waited outside in the fresh air, but I know some of you would want this info! read more

This was a suggestion from our Airbnb host and I'm so glad we tried it! The smash burger was absolute perfection. Their house sauce is delicious! There are two small tables outside we enjoyed sitting out there. The service is so great! They were very accommodating when we decided to eat our take out there. It is small and difficult to get in especially on weekends but it's worth the wait Burgers are outstanding at Brooks so that's pretty much all I get end I'm in town. The chicken sandwich is absolutely huge and I'm told is solid. Always a selection of local beers and ciders on tap. Given how small the place is there is plenty of wait staff to keep the orders moving. Since it's small with a lot of seats it can be a bit loud so don't be expect a quiet meal but the place has a fun vibe. read more

My wife and I had the displeasure to dine here in mid October of 2020 during the middle of the COVID pandemic. At that time, we were being safe, but also trying to encourage growth by putting our tourism dollars into local eateries. Our experience wasn't very good. We were content to leave one negative review expressing our opinion about our experience, and should never have given it a second thought. However, since Tom V., the apparent owner, decided that he would message my wife and threaten her with legal action over her 100% accurate Yelp review, I decided I would go ahead and add my own perspective. I would welcome Tom V. to dispute his behavior. He gave my wife 48 hours to remove the unfavorable review or he would have his lawyers subpoena Yelp and then file lawsuits against any and every person who made negative comments pertaining to his establishments COVID protocols at that time. I do not appreciate toothless threats with no merit whose only purpose is to be threatening to my I do not support any business that would take this tactic. There are many fantastic places in Hendersonville that are more deserving of your tourism dollars. I did not enjoy the food that was served, and left most of it uneaten as a result. My wife and I were both happy to leave and only wanted to warn others of the policies in place here. It is unfortunate that Tom V. has chosen to behave in this manner. While we may have given it a second look during one of our many visits to Hendersonville, we will surely give a wide berth now, and encourage others to use their own discretion as to where to eat when they visit. But, bottom line, based on my own experience, if you leave a negative review, you may have to deal with the same behavior from the owner as we have. Stopped in on our way chimney rock. Came through town right as the Christmas parade came to an end. We entered the tavern the same time as the entire place filled up. The service was still amazing. The food was so good. I had jalapeño poppers that were homemade and not frozen and fried. I also had the blt and chicken tortilla soup. I've never had chicken soup with so much chicken. First time visiting Hendersonville and we decided to give Brooks Tavern a try. It was fantastic! Great selection of Lagers, IPAs and ciders. The two of us shared the Brooks smashburger (huge! Delicious!), fries (house made! Generous serving! Delicious!), potato salad (excellent!) and a side salad (perfect!). Saturday evening my friends and I (7 of us) had a great dinner and drinks at Brook's. We squeezed into the only large table they have. Dana our server, was friendly, quick and accurate with our orders, what a delight. Food was great, I had a Patty Melt with fries all cooked perfectly. Other friends had the Brooks Burger and a Cobb Salad they said it was all delicious. Another friend had the fish and chips he was disappointed, said it was to over done, he had, had better. To top our evening off we ordered (2) of the chocolate layered cake with ice-cream. Dana warmed it for us added ice-cream and put lots of whip cream, WOWZZZA! It was delicious! The short: Came here on a whim for dinner in Hendersonville. Came out with wayyy more then I expected. Go here as soon as you can! The long: While being tourist in Hendersonville, we decided to stop into this highly rated spot. Nice little spot in Asheville with a boutique feel to it. We sat at the with Ian who was very helpful. He took us through the menu and was very helpful. We ended up ordering the buffalo chicken egg rolls which we were told were life changing....they were! Super creamy with just the right amount of spice. The owner Mark, was telling us how he makes it every day and you could really tell the passion he has for it. They were nothing short of delicious. Next up came the jalapeno poppers which were amazing! We then got the half pound burger with Swiss, caramelized onions and bacon. The burger was phenomenal! Had to be some of the best caramelized onions I've ever had. Got to speak a little more with Ian and Mark on how they make all the food which was a great chat. A cool little place in DT Hendersonville. We ate here purely based on the Yelp reviews. Several Yelpers had recommended the Big Brooks Burger. This restaurant had ZERO Covid-19 safety measures. Table was a bit dirty so clearly had not been sanitized. No staff was wearing masks or gloves. Most patrons were not wearing masks. In hindsight, we should have gone elsewhere. 2 stars deducted. All that being said our server was very friendly, and this had to be one of the top burgers I have ever had. The grass fed Angus patty had an awesome flavor and from bun to bun every other ingredient was top notch. The fries were also very good. So, I guess I would have to say avoid this place for now. But, if you aren't concerned about catching something then go get one of these burgers ASAP! read more

We found this place a block or so off the main pedestrian areas in historic downtown Hendersonville. The food was fantastic. The fries were hand cut. The sauces are home made. Everything was very good and high quality. There were also a ton of micro-brew beer choices. If we were local, we would eat here a lot. CAVEAT -- the restaurant has a relaxed attitude about COVID. The sign on the door states that masks may be worn, but are not required. The servers do not wear masks, and there is no lowered capacity or social distancing. Just what you need for a nice Christmas week dinner, Peanut and I rolled into town for a medical procedure early the next day. We wanted a local eatery with good rep for a great meal. Brooks Tavern filled the bill for sure! I had the Tavern burger 1/2 lb , with their hand cut fries... Peanut had the same burger, hold the bun with fried egg and bacon. Great portions, every thing fresh and hot. Definitely a two fister cheese burger. If I had to bitch about something it would be the drink prices... 10.95 each. We had wings and the buffalo chicken egg rolls as an appetizer. The wings were some of the best I've had! The egg rolls were hot and tasty. I ordered the basic burger and fries for my meal. I had watched multiple reviews on YouTube about Brooks Tavern so my expectations on the burger were pretty high, especially being voted "Best Burger." Been a frequent users of Brooks Tavern, however, yesterday was a very poor experience. The grilled chicken sandwich was fatty and grisly. The Turkey Brie sandwich, they were out of Brie, other issues But the largest frustration was we for the first time did carry out. When I walked in I asked the server with sandwich build. where to pick up carry out, she said behind the bar. She said she would let bartender know. I saw our carry out behind bar and servers and bartender in kitchen drinking probably water and talking. I waited a good 10 minutes before anyone came out, including bartender. Add insult, there is an automatic 15% charge for carry out service. I typically tip 10% for good service in carry out, but in this case would not have tipped at all. No more carry out from Brooks Tavern! read more
