Hieu Tieu Kho was better than average, but the tomato-based ground pork sauce was on the sweeter side. I'd add a splash of soy sauce to balance it out. Let me start off by saying when it comes to Vietnamese food, I'm judgmental and very selective. Especially being raised with the food and being from California, it's very hard to give thumbs up outside of that. Usually it's at par or just horrible. I order the Hu tieu and it reminded me of home in CA. Now nothing is like how you would make it at home BUT the taste hit all the notes to make me not miss CA Vietnamese food. We ordered two adult pho for take out over the phone. I asked for a side order of rib eye or waygu but the guy didn't know how much to charge and needed to call the owner --- it's on the website $8 --- I said don't worry about it. My husband wanted beef & brisket but he got only brisket pho. Pho broth was excellent. There's inconsistency in the cilantro, onion that comes with each pho take out container. Mine had lots of onions and hardly any cilantro; the other had lots of cilantro and not much onion; both had NO green onion. We got 2 packets of hoisin sauce and siracha which was only half of what one would normally use when dining in. Lots of bean sprouts were included but only two sprigs of basil --- really?? Basil is part of your restaurant name! We need twice as much basil for two adult bowls. This was our first time trying Broth & Basil. Will be back with hopes of better accuracy on our order and try other items on their menu. You can order over the phone or place an order online. Best pho north of Austin!!! We come here often since moving from downtown last summer and thought we just got lucky and great pho was everywhere- not the case! Pleasantly surprised! Wasn't sure what to expect, since it seemed like it could be "cutesy" pho, but it was legit. The pho was flavorful and piping hot. Not on the sweeter side, the broth was balanced and more towards the cinnamon-y/five spice side. Noodles had a little bite. Very solid pho. The pork egg rolls were way above average. Been thinking about them ever since. Crispy shell, burning hot, not oily, and delicious pork filling, soft and springy. I tried the "Asian ranch" dry rub wings. Again, obvious quality. Fried to perfection. And at $5 for 4, a great deal. The fountain soda was flat, but the cashier said she checked and they had forgotten to add ice to the condenser. She took it off my bill. The service was average, in that they never checked on me, so it took a while to switch out the soda for a water. I'm sure I could have asked, but it wasn't clear that there was any one person working as a server. The folks who brought the food out were different each time, and I believe were from the kitchen. Stated I need wait 1 hour for manager to arrive. I asked manager name and he did not know because he is new employee??? lol Then when I disagree waiting hour to get or $70.00 food. He said I disrespected him and he hung up phone on me. I called back again and explained we not angry and it's not personal. Only we want eat our dinner and only ask to come get our food, he said no. He advised me to write a negative review on Yelp. Is amazing! Is it our youth? Is it poor training? Is it bad upbringing by parents? Went to this place based on Yelp recommendations. The food is excellent. Typically bun comes on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce - not a fan. Broth and Basil uses a spring mix which is perfect. Man, let me tell you about my phenomenon Vermicelli :) First- the presentation inside the to-go box alone looked beautiful! Decided to give this place another try, since it saves about 10 miles on the round trip to my favorite pho place, and with gas being as high as it is now... Anyway, the service was much better and more prompt than my old review. The pho is decent, and they put A LOT of meat in the bowl, though they still only have about 8-10 varieties compared to other places. Pretty much everything else I stated in my old review still holds true, except prices are now up to $12 a bowl due to Bidenomics. With eggrolls, coffee, tax and tip the total came to $27. About $4 higher than most pho shops for the same meal. So judge on how far you're willing to drive. read more

My partner and I tried the Veggie + Tofu Vermicelli. The tofu and vermicelli portion were excellent, but the vegetables tasted old and were very lacking of their natural flavor. For the price, you do get a very large amount of food, but based on our one experience, I'd say the freshness/quality is a bit lacking.
