Fish Fillet with Sour Mustard - This is less than half of the full portion. I forgot to take a picture until we stopped eating!

Hands down one of the best AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurants in Austin. We've been coming here since they opened years ago; worth the drive from South Austin! I wish there were more restaurants like A+A because we don't have enough authentic Chinese food here. Their pork with mustard greens (雪里红肉丝) is probably my favorite dish. It's fragrant and we'll balanced with meat and veggies and mixes well with rice. I also love their fish fillet with sour mustard (酸菜鱼). It's a great soupy dish, warm and filling on cold winter days. The fish is plentiful and delicate. We also like their spicy fish fillet (水煮鱼). The restaurant recently moved to a new location that's smaller. I hope it's not a sign business is poor. Their quality of food and speed of service is still excellent!

The food was good and the portions were ample. It is located in a strip mall and is a fairly large place. The interior is decorated in Chinese motif, but you can tell it has seen better days and looks a little run down. There were cobwebs on the venetian blinds. So if atmosphere is important, you might want to skip this place. Everything for dinner was priced A la carte except the Moo Goo Gia Pan came with a side of white rice even though the menu didn't mention it. There must be 100 selections on the menu, all with just a Chinese name and no description or picture at all. Wasn't sure exactly what would come with each dish until it arrived. The soft drinks are sold in cans for $1.75 each, so no refills on soft drinks. I had Moo Goo Gia Pan and It was in a mild white sauce. The chicken slices were tender, the sauce seasoned well, and the vegetables were done to perfection. There was enough for lunch the next day. My wife had the Chicken lo Mein which she said was good as well. But the chicken appeared to be ground as it was in very small pieces. She also had enough for lunch the next day. We were there between 6 and 7 pm on Sunday evening. Only one other customer when we arrived who finished as soon as we got our food. We were there alone until we were almost done when one family came in. The service was adequate but not at all engaging. Although we were the loan customers through much of our meal, he never came back to see if we needed a drink refill. The waiter did check once with an "is everything OK" at the start of the meal. Had to beckon for a take out box and the check. I counted 5 staff there, so you would expect a little more attentiveness. This place is out of the way from our house, so we most likely will not eat here again. It's not bad if you're in the neighborhood and in the mood for Chinese food, but nothing to drive out of the way for.

I would call this is a hole in the wall authentic Szechuan food. We thought the place was closed forever during the pandemic. We found out today that they relocated to nearby area. We went ahead and ordered. The portions of food were generous and a little bit more $$ compare to what used to which is Understandable since they tried to survive. I would highly recommend this place.

Simply put, not good! Restaurant owner did not like my feedback of the food and charged me anyway. The picture shows what I left on the table.

    Not acceptable.

I believe in this case a picture is worth a thousand words. Please see the attached photo. There was a cockroach in my daughter's bubble tea. Enough said.

Spicy pig ears (cold dish) – divine

A+A is the grade I would give the food at this Sichuan restaurant. Mapo tofu is a cauldron of spicy, tongue-numbing, radioactive red waves lapping against homey cubes of silky tofu and power nugs of ground pork. It's like the sloppy joe mess that we all should've grown up with as opposed to Hamburger Helper. Next: Cold dishes are a gateway to the delicious unknown. This section of the menu, so far, is really all about that oily, peppercorny, chile-suffused sauce whether it be dunking shreds of chicken and mung bean noodles or slices of cartilaginous pig ear. Ok ya'll, now for the real deal: DRY POT. This is...oh my god...this is where you want to plant your flag. Don't know where to begin or how to describe this magical dish. You can get it with any protein, even rabbit. I went with the chicken. I'm going to say it only once: Go with BONE-IN. Bone brings vital flavor. A+A's dry pot chicken is somewhat fried, and comes with a tangle of cilantro, celery, potato slices, woodear mushrooms, this sauce that you'd stab someone near and dear for a spoonful of. GO to this place. And don't get all uptight about the weird smells in the bathroom b/c who the f cares. Just pee at home. Bonus: Because this is obviously an ex-diner, they've got comfy booths.

I say no MSG and they have told me they do not. Rule of thumb is also remind them. I eat here at a regular basis, and I've have not become sick yet(I'm super sensitive to "King of Flavor-MSG". I hope this helps.

This is about as authentic as it gets here. The dish to beat is the Szechuan chicken. That spicy, tingly thing with the peanuts mixed in. Best version in Austin, hands down. The spice, the crunch, all of it. I eat it fresh, I eat it cold out of the fridge the next day, and it's perfect beer food. The sweet and sour chicken is the other one to get. Smart packaging too, they keep the sauce separate so the chicken shows up still crispy and you add it yourself. Little detail, big difference. Not every dish is a home run, but work through the menu and you'll land on ten or fifteen that are excellent. The steamed dumplings, the wonton noodle soup, the beef and broccoli, the fried rice, all great. We've spent a small fortune on their takeout and have zero regrets.

This might be the best dim sum in Austin now…read more I actually had never eaten at Shanghai having grown up in Austin. I didn't have their food until around COVID when we got dim sum to go a few times. I remember at that time thinking it was pretty unremarkable, and also quite expensive for dim sum. Fast forward to this year. I'm not sure if they have new ownership or new cooks, but the difference is night and day. I've been a couple of times now for dine-in in dim sum and each time was awesome. You can order off the menu or by QR code. They definitely focus on the classics but they're all executed really well. Standouts for me were the pan fried turnip cake, full of turnip and super sweet, the shrimp and leek pan fried dumplings, shrimp stuffed eggplant, and chili wonton. What makes them unique to me is that the food is all cooked to order and comes out hot and fresh. The fried items are crispy and hot and everything else you can tell just came straight from the kitchen. This avoids the one issue with carts which is that the food has been cooked who knows when and has just been sitting in a steam cart for an unknown amount of time. Also since you order off the menu, you can get exactly what you want instead of having to wait for a cart to come by. The service is always friendly and I've never had to wait to be seated, even on a weekend. If you haven't come here in awhile or written it off in the past, I'd encourage you to come and try it again. Right now it's a hidden gem but if more people realize how much better it is now, it might not be for long. Also bonus points for being a dim sum place that's not super far north like New Fortune 2 or Golden Palace.

Ordering is through QR code and they did not know what order went to which table. They put food on our table and took it back to a different table TWICE. The good: the dim sum tasted legit.
