The long wait is over! I haven't posted a review in a while. Today's eatery was so worth the wait. The food was delicious. I ordered a blackend shrimp Caesar salad. The shrimp jumbo shrimp had to be flown in from the gulf of Mexico. Lol Atleast th'e's how it taste. It was fresh with a slight tangy, zesty taste. I did use the lemon herb dressing and the creamy Caesar like dressing. The crutons were soft and tasteful with a hint of garlic. The ambiance is a beach house surfer like vibe. Brown bag seafood is a cute little spot. I like the location in Lincoln Park. My favorite is the crispy cod sandwich. But recently I tried the fried fish sandwich with Pollock. Nikki, T and Jeremy are awesome and we're all so helpful. Niki is super sweet and help me understand the difference between the crispy cod sandwich and the fried fish sandwich haha, as well as Jeremy who was super knowledgeable on the subject and quick to explain. Jeremy and T were back there, Cooking up a delicious frenzy. They also offer absolutely delicious lobster rolls. And for this cold winter weather lobster mac & cheese and clam chowder. This is a great quick spot when you're craving some delicious seafood. They offer their items in a few different styles, everybody wins . At Brown Bag you can customize a protein bowl with shrimp, tuna or salmon, etc. And choose grilled or fried on most options. We had a grilled tuna bowl that was outstanding; perfectly seared. So to balance the healthy choice we added a side order of fried shrimp. The fried shrimp is lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. Not impressed with the clam chowder; too salty and nothing special; claims to be house made; call me skeptical. This is a small place; mostly takeout but with a few tables if you want to dine in. Get here for some really premium seafood and the ability to make a healthy concoction for yourself is awesome and pretty nice! read more

Please note that if you order through the app for pick-up at a set time, your order will get lost in the system abd you'll have to reorder when you arrive. This has happened to me twice and the staff recommends ordering "now" and putting the time you want your food in the notes as a work around. Not the best solution IMO and it also puts the onus on the customer rather than fixing their app/technology. I generally like the convenience of order ahead for pick-up to save time, but have found it to be unreliable here. read more

I would never leave a review solely based on the food. Because people have different taste. The food was simply subpar at best. However the service was atrocious. Completely ignored for the first 8 mins or so. Although it was only one seated customer. I understand a large percentage of restaurant business is made up of phone/internet orders. We stopped by for a quick brunch bite and we left so fulfilled and happy. This whole experience reminded me what a successful meal prep is supposed to look like. Brown Bag is a super cute, casual, and healthy stop. The interior gave beachy vibes with the blue and the lightly stained wood. Service was amazing, they were so attentive and friendly and made the overall experience so much better. We got the "Make Your Own" sets and got the Salmon + Power Box and the Grilled Shrimp + Power Box. There are specialty sauce offerings on the side for an additional dollar BUT what we didn't know was that there were just free sauces that you could ask for. TIP: Look at what is offered for free before you purchase a specialty sauce. You might need to ask the staff because we found out while we were paying. I preferred the Grilled Shrimp over the Salmon. I liked how the shrimp was more tender to eat than the salmon and I got to dip it in more sauces and get more variety that way. Meanwhile, the salmon got a bit boring midway through the meal. Out of the specialty sauce, we got the Sesame Soy Sriracha and the Supergreen Garlic and Herb. I thought the Garlic and Herb was a lot more fitting for the meal than the Soy Sriracha. read more

It's been about 7yrs since I ate at brownbag for the first time downtown. I live out of state and when I'm telling you, that I've dreamed of these lobster rolls, I'm not joking. New England's lobster rolls don't even come close. Today I finally got to return to brownbag (new location). I didn't have a long wait and the staff were great! 10/10 every time! I order from here via UberEats at least once a month and I love their stuff. It's a great healthy, macro friendly option. I especially love their blend of veggies. I have been to the Brown Bag Seafood location in Lakeview/Roscoe as well and this one is not as good. The food was tasty--I had the catch of the day which was hake as a salad. The truffle Parmesan tots are also fantastic. This location felt smaller, less nice, and the staff was less friendly. The staff was also shouting to each other the whole time, which wasn't very pleasant for eating in. Based on what I saw while there, I think this location does a lot of to-go and delivery orders. This Brown Bag location gets three stars because the food is good but the service/experience is not up to par. read more

Very easy ordering process - we walked in masked (as the employees were) and there was a clear distinction between to-go ordering and dine-in ordering. Ordered take out back in September and was excited to see a LP location opened up in my neighborhood! I recommended it to my gf since a family member ordered staff lunch at work from the river north location and I loved it. We got the ahi tuna burger, fish (cod) tacos, truffle tater tots, and clam chowder. Clam chowder was definitely our favorite; price to portion was meh ($6). Tater tots were flavorful with the truffle Parmesan seasoning. The burger was pretty dry and fell apart quite easily. At least the fries that came with it were tasty. I enjoyed the tacos but I think the river north location made it better. Tbh I'm also not sure why the fish tacos came with tortilla chips when there was nothing to dip it in; it was kind of random. We ordered again I think in October and still felt the same. We thought our first visit was just mediocre because it had just opened and they were still getting the hang of things. This was my first time having Brown Bag Seafood and it was great. It's definitely not cheap fast casual but the meal was high quality. The fish had a ton of flavor and the veggie box surprised me with how flavorful it was. We also got the spicy cauliflower and the Buffalo bleu cheese tots. The portion size was a lot smaller than expected but still tasty. Next time I would get two orders of the tots instead of the cauliflower. I'd love to try a different time of fish next time. I would probably get this as a special meal and isn't something I would personally get on a frequent basis. read more

Was in oz park for a baseball game and it was next to the park so I'm like why not just stop here and get a quick dinner. I ordered shrimp I had call it in. I got there and I had to ask for napkins and fork. The guy who help me out was having a good day or something because he wasn't that nice. The price of just the 8 little shrimps was close to 15 bucks which too me for the size of them was a lot. The shrimp where okay nothing special needed a bit more salt for a better flavor. I have ordered carryout from this location twice. Both times my order has been screwed up. The first time, I got home only to find that they had only given me one of the two items that I ordered. The second time they gave me the wrong order. If you order carryout here, check your order carefully before leaving. The food is great, but I won't go back. It is a small place; if you are not paying attention, you will pass this hidden gem. My husband and I went here for a date night and I am so happy my husband chose this place. While we waited for our food, I noticed that this place was very popular with the locals because there were a lot of pickup orders, which was a good indicator that the food was good. The food was fresh and delicious, and their music playlist was perfect. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of lime and cilantro coleslaw (AMAZING), while my husband had a lobster roll with tater tots. The crust on my fish filets was crispy, the meat was flaky, and the tartar sauce was on point. The chips were excellent too, and I had to keep my husband from eating them :-) I had a couple of the tater tots that came with the lobster roll, and they were fly -- served with truffle oil and parmesan cheese shavings -- yum! When we finished our meal and went up to pay for our meal, the cook, Nicky, was SUPER friendly and asked how we enjoyed our meal. I asked her who made the coleslaw because it was the best coleslaw I'd ever had, and she beamed ear to ear and stated that they make it fresh daily. I must say that I can tell. My husband even wondered where they get their cilantro since it was so fresh... we can't even find cilantro that crisp and flavorful from our local Mexican grocery store!
