Who can pass up a cookie?? Stopped in Paso Robles to walk around on my way back to the Bay Area and happened upon this cute cookie shop. Their displays were eye-catching and the cookies looked delicious, so I had to go in. I don't think the cookies are baked at this location; didn't smell the aroma of fresh baking anywhere! Regardless, they had a good variety available and several bags of day old cookies at half price! I got two bags (lemon sugar and oatmeal raisin, 6 cookies in each for $9 a bag) and 3 fresh ginger molasses ($3 each cookie). The cookies were all delicious; chewy and flavorful. Changing this review to 5 stars after having a life changing honey cookie from here. I don't think I realized they had cookies besides their little shortbread like nugs. I noticed a chewy looking honey cookie near the register and decided to add it to my order. They were DELICIOUS!! They were so incredibly chewy and filled with the most wonderful flavor. These are different cookies but they are yummy, especially with a hot cup of coffee. Someone likened them to the Pepperidge Farms Chessman cookies and I am not seeing that comparison at all. If I were to compare them to anything they remind more of a Pan de Polvo cookie at least in texture. The cookies are very crumbly when you bite into them so they definitely can get a little messy. I like that the flavors kind of hit you in layers. The original was my favorite. Just simple flavors. You get the brown sugar up front and then you notice the buttery flavor and then the saltiness. Even the crumbly texture adds to the taste sensation of the cookies. We also tried the Almond flavor, which was good but very subtle, and the Coconut Lime. I would say the Coconut Lime was my least favorite because of the tiny bits of coconut in them. I'm just not a fan of the texture of coconut. I didn't think I would like the lime but that was the part I actually did like about the cookie. They are still practicing COVID safety measures even though it's a hit or miss in regard to who is or isn't in the town so it's hard to figure out what safety measures you are supposed to follow from shop to shop. They only let you step a couple feet into the shop and masks are required. There are no tastings at this time due to COVID either. We ordered our cookies off of recommendations from other people. It is a fairly popular shop, enough that tourists and locals alike will send you to visit the store when you ask for recommendations of where to go. I would definitely recommend giving them a try. They do have a four flavor pack but with all our wine tasting I think I killed off the brain cells that had stored how much we paid for the cookies because now I can't remember! The dude and I saw this place and had to give this place a shot on 01/11/21 as we took a small getaway to Paso Robles. I wish we could enter the store but the lady, owner, worker is stationed at the door. I did peak inside the store as it would have been so cute to explore. The lady wasn't too friendly and my questions weren't too hard. I just asked for recommendations as it was my first time here with the love too. So I didn't know what to expect or anything. I believe the flavors are just using "extracts" so the almond cookies I got didn't have real almond pieces in it just an extract. The other flavors appeared to be the same. The packaging was very cute too! I got a pack for my nieces and I wanted to try them out so I got almond. The experience was quick so this review will be short. The experience wasn't memorable at all but the Almond Extract cookies were delicious the did and I nearly ate all of them! They definitely has a nice buttery almond crunch to it. My best friend and I ended up here because the barbecue place we wanted to try was closed on Monday and this was the second barbecue place we'd gone to that day to discover they were closed. Anger rising! I was being a baby and crying about how we needed to check Yelp for store hours. As we looked for another place, she recognized BBC and had been to here before and swore by their cookies, so she ran in to get a bag to quell my anger. I was on the fence because my friend is a diabetic, so the food she has access to makes me cringe out of fear that her taste buds are reset based on her diet. Using almond flour instead of flour? That means they're almond cookies, right? I'm not that crazy about almond, so I held my nose as I tried it. The fear was replaced with relief. The cookies were kinda cakey, but crispy too. There were little crystals of salt and you could taste the brown butter which I love, and the almond flavor that was subtle enough to complement the flavor without truly being a mere almond cookie. Anger subsided. She got me a pack of eight cookies which were a lot of cookies and lasted me a few days. Came here during Covid. They sell their cookies at the door and after you pay you pick it up under the door in a shelf. Contactless. They do not sell individual cookies at the moment just packs of 3, 6 and 12 of a single flavor. This is your not typical cookies, instead of being flat cookies they are shaped in as a mound. I prefer my cookies with crispy edges and chewy in the middle. These cookies were pretty hard but not hard that it hurts when you take a bite. I ordered the original flavor and cinnamon. I went out of my way to go here after a friend suggested it on my long drive through California. Everything was double pre packaged for covid, no samples. I went with my gut and got cinnamon and the seasonal bourbon. Bourbon was very strong and burny. Cookies are very crumbly like wet sand. The cinnamon was flavorful as well but something is off. I'm so happy I happened to find this place while taking a break on my road trip. I absolutely love these cookies! My favorite flavors are the original, cocoa mint, and cocoa, but you can sample any and all the flavors before deciding what you want to buy. They're pretty small (almost bite-sized), but so worth it. They're flavorful and soft and just crumble in your mouth. I have a new addiction. What started as just another shop we wandered into while exploring picturesque downtown Paso Robles turned into one of the town's highlights. It's just a cookie, right? Well, think again. The spacious and beautiful store located in a historic building across from the park was closed off due to COVID, so that just meant we had to get right down to business. We went with a six pack of their classic cookies and enjoyed them while wandering around. Each hit was heaven. The combination of rich butter, sweetness and a hint of sea salt was divine. Cute boutique cookie shop in a somewhat foodie downtown retail area. Had lunch in the area, did a little wine tasting and ran into this little gem. I usually don't go out of my way for most desserts/anything sweet, but I am fond of cookies. Well good cookies. Enter Brown Butter Cookies. So when walking by, I literally stopped then scooted back a few steps to their door. I was compelled to go in. Upon entering I was quite smitten. I knew it was super local and super small biz. Even though it wasn't the type of cookie shop that I was anticipating, I knew I wasn't going to leave empty handed. They really only make 3-6 types of cookies here, but in those few, they change the flavors around. Their main cookie here is a shortbread type of cookie. It is more fat disc than flat. It is tiny like 1.5 - 2 bites. It is dryish and pretty crumbly, which is why I have never really been a fan of the shortbread style. Unless it is with tea or coffee then it much more doable. But to their credit here, their shortbread is legit-ly buttery. They will have this style in many flavors from coffee to cinnamon to almond. The cookies here also aren't cheap. It's very boutique in pricing as well. I think I bought 3 bags, 6 cookies/bag and it was a little over $20. But the cookie here that really stole my heart was a flat butter cookie. Honey Cookie as I think it was named. It has a subtle crisp on the bottom which I always love. The interior was crazy chewy, almost meaty but still being pretty thin, which I've never seen. Usually thicker cookies are the chewy ones. I think this is where the honey kicks in. Then the flavor was an intense toffee flavor which I can only assume is from browning butter, hence their name. I love the flavor of browned butter, it intoxicates me. Then they lace the cookie with a scant of sea salt, so it gives off bursts of salted toffee/caramel and really sends this into OMG status. Quite addictive. Unfortunately they don't sell that flatter honey cookie online cuz it is more time sensitive supposedly. Too bad cuz I would order the heck out of it.
